PD Chapter 4: White Coat and Peach Blossom Eyes
by Eexeee[Anonymous]: Hello.
[Dr. Li from XX Men’s Clinic]: Hello, I’m here. Please go ahead.
[Anonymous]: Um, it’s like this…
[Anonymous]: So, last week, I got kind of scared… while, uh, in bed.
[Anonymous]: And now it seems like I can’t, uh… you know, get hard…
[Dr. Li from XX Men’s Clinic]: How long has this been happening?
[Anonymous]: Over a week now.
[Anonymous]: What do I do, Doctor?!
[Anonymous]: Oral isn’t working, and even trying to… you know, handle it myself doesn’t work either. I’m on the verge of tears here.
[Dr. Li from XX Men’s Clinic]: How old are you?
[Anonymous]: 23.
[Anonymous]: Doctor, am I… impotent?
[Anonymous]: WTF!
[Anonymous]: For real? Don’t scare me, Doctor!
[Anonymous]: Can I recover from this?
[Dr. Li from XX Men’s Clinic]: Your case is a bit complicated. Fortunately, you’ve caught it early; if left untreated, it could get harder to resolve.
[Anonymous]: What do you mean by “complicated”?
[Anonymous]: Please explain.
[Anonymous]: Say something, don’t leave me hanging here!
[Dr. Li from XX Men’s Clinic]: This isn’t easy to explain like this. Why don’t you send a photo over first? Let me take a look at it.
[Anonymous]: I’m outside right now, can’t take a picture, Doctor!
[Anonymous]: What if I can’t recover?
[Anonymous]: Are you still there, Doctor?
[Anonymous]: Doctor!
[Dr. Li from XX Men’s Clinic]: Hello, I’m here. Don’t panic.
[Dr. Li from XX Men’s Clinic]: If you can’t recover, surgery might be the only option.
[Anonymous]: Surgery?
[Anonymous]: Will it hurt?
[Anonymous]: Will I be able to return to normal afterward?
[Dr. Li from XX Men’s Clinic]: Yes, it would be surgical removal.
[Dr. Li from XX Men’s Clinic]: Anyway, since it’s not working, we recommend just removing it.
[Anonymous]: ?!
[Dr. Li from XX Men’s Clinic]: But this is a specialty area for our hospital, so this situation isn’t a big issue for us. You can come to our hospital for an appointment soon.
[Dr. Li from XX Men’s Clinic]: If you give my code 0026 when you come, you can skip the registration fee.
[Dr. Li from XX Men’s Clinic]: I suggest you come as soon as possible; delaying it could mean you’d have to opt for surgery. [The above chat is a standard script for online consultations, commission per successful client booking: 200 yuan.]
[Dr. Li from XX Men’s Clinic]: Oh crap, how do I delete this message?!
[Dr. Li from XX Men’s Clinic]: Anyway, please come to our hospital soon for a consultation. This concludes today’s session. Goodbye.

He Linzhou sat resignedly on a bench outside the urology clinic, in the waiting area. Wearing a black baseball cap pulled low and a face mask that covered most of his face, he had white AirPods in his ears and was leaning back, looking down at his phone.
The search bar on his screen showed a string of recent searches:
• “What to do when you can’t get hard after being scared.”
• “Suddenly can’t get hard, is it ED?”
• “Which department should I go to for not being able to get hard?”
• “How to explain ED to a doctor without being laughed at.”
“Number 39, He Linzhou?”
He Linzhou raised his hand in response, then quickly tapped [Clear Search History] on his phone and hit [Confirm]. Pocketing his phone, he got up and walked toward the consultation room.
As he pushed open the door, he noticed the doctor seated behind a computer, seemingly focused on writing something. He closed the door gently behind him and took a couple of steps forward. The doctor, still with his head down, asked, “Where does it feel uncomfortable?”
“Um, Doctor,” He Linzhou said, removing his mask and looking a bit embarrassed, “I’ve recently been… unable to… uh…”
He stopped dead in his tracks. That voice… it sounded familiar…
Feeling stiff, he slowly lifted his head to look at the doctor. His somewhat dazed gaze met a pair of slender, slightly upturned eyes—
“Damn!”
A flash of lightning seemed to strike He Linzhou’s brain as he cursed under his breath.
The culprit behind his inability to perform was now sitting right there in a crisp white coat, hair perfectly combed, with a gold-rimmed pair of glasses perched on his nose. He held a blue pen between his long fingers, pausing in midair.
Wen Xunchuan looked at him, eyes showing a flicker of surprise. His gaze slowly moved down from He Linzhou’s face, “You…” He cleared his throat, reining in his initial reaction, returning to his usual professional demeanor. Using the pen in his hand, he pointed toward He Linzhou’s lower region, speaking in a calm tone, “What’s the issue?”
“I can’t get hard because you scared the hell out of me” was definitely not something He Linzhou could say to this guy’s face.
So, with his mind blank, he couldn’t think of a decent excuse for being there. Instead, he shot Wen Xunchuan a fierce glare.
Unfazed, Wen Xunchuan looked back at him without blinking. After waiting a while without a response, he grew a bit impatient.
His brow furrowed ever so slightly, and he turned his attention back to the medical notes in front of him. His lips parted slightly, and in a soft voice, he said, “If you’re here about sudden inability to perform, I’d recommend psychiatry. Take a left outside and head to the ninth floor.”
He Linzhou stormed up, grabbed Wen Xunchuan by the collar, and yanked him up from his chair, his eyes blazing. “What the hell, Wen? What’s that supposed to mean?”
Wen Xunchuan barely lifted his eyes to glance at him, “Neurology is on the fourth floor, turn right outside.”
“You’re such a…” He Linzhou’s eyes grew red, clutching Wen Xunchuan’s collar. “I just don’t get it. Have I ever treated you badly? You wanted to see me, so I got a room ready right away. You wanted to go on a trip, I sent you money without a second thought. I’ve had you ghost me over a dozen times, and I never said a word, did I? I’ve barely even seen you in person, and yet I treated you like we’re dating. And this is what you do to me? If you didn’t want to sleep with me, just say so! Did you really need to pull this stunt?”
He practically shouted out the last part.
Wen Xunchuan’s face remained unmoved, and he even felt the urge to laugh.
He raised his hand to rub his ear, then flicked his gaze toward He Linzhou’s hand still gripping his collar. “Alright, enough. Let go.”
He Linzhou hesitated, but he let go without further protest.
He dragged a chair over, sat by the desk, and slouched with his arms resting on the edge, looking down, seeming genuinely a bit hurt.
“Just my luck, thinking about making things official with you back then. Didn’t realize you were this type of person.”
Adjusting his glasses, Wen Xunchuan glanced at him with a look of genuine disdain and sighed, “Please, don’t.”
Then he pulled a chair up and sat across from He Linzhou, “Why are you really here? If you need a consultation, let’s get it done. There are still people waiting outside.”
He Linzhou was caught off guard by the question, struggling to come up with a lie, eyes shifting as he stammered out, “… Can’t I come here for a circumcision?”
Wen Xunchuan studied his face for a while. “You don’t need one. You can go.” He pressed the buzzer on the desk, signaling for the next patient. “Next.”
As he waited for the next patient to be led in, Wen Xunchuan looked over at He Linzhou, who hadn’t moved, and said, “I wasn’t joking just now. If your issue was caused by a scare, it’s likely psychological ED. You really should go to the psychiatry department for professional mental support.”
He Linzhou paused, then asked in a low voice, “… Will it get better?”
“See what they say over there. It’s not my specialty.”
Seeing He Linzhou’s downcast look, Wen Xunchuan felt a rare twinge of guilt. His voice softened a bit, and he reached across the table to pat He Linzhou on the shoulder. “Even if it doesn’t get better, it’s fine. You don’t need to worry about passing down your name or anything, right? Just a slight adjustment to your settings.”
At this, He Linzhou shot him a fierce look, then deliberately scraped his chair against the floor, making a loud noise as he stood up.
Wen Xunchuan found it amusing, twirling his blue pen as he watched him leave.
When He Linzhou reached the door, he paused, his back to Wen Xunchuan, and muttered, “Which floor did you say psychiatry was on?”
Wen Xunchuan chuckled, “Ninth floor, twenty meters left out the elevator. But I genuinely recommend stopping by the fourth floor as well, since you’re already here.”
Pretending not to hear the last bit, He Linzhou took a step forward, but then Wen Xunchuan suddenly called out, “Oh, one more thing.”
He Linzhou turned back with an annoyed expression, “What?”
Sitting behind the desk, Wen Xunchuan had removed his gold-rimmed glasses and set them on his patient files. The computer screen cast a soft light on his sharp features, adding a gentle glow to his face.
With one hand supporting his chin, he looked at He Linzhou with a pair of beautiful, peach blossom eyes, his gaze filled with a soft, unspoken affection, his pinkish eye corners forming a faint, endearing curve.
He Linzhou’s heart skipped a beat, out of nowhere.
And then, Wen Xunchuan’s lips parted as he spoke, clearly, “My last name’s not Wen.”
