Chapter 8: So, the Little Leopard Likes This Girl!

Throughout September, Han Junzhou juggled his hospital and school duties, keeping an extremely tight schedule. His hospital workload, including consultations and surgeries, remained unchanged. Meanwhile, his “Subgender Reproductive Studies” course, a six-credit class, occupied Tuesday mornings and Friday afternoons, with three lectures each day. Balancing both commitments felt like burning the candle at both ends. Especially on Tuesdays, Han often had to rush back to the hospital after class, but he couldn’t bring himself to decline when students came up to ask questions. Many times, he skipped lunch, which even delayed his afternoon consultations. Luckily, the hospital recently onboarded a new doctor, allowing Han to delegate his Tuesday afternoon consultations. This gave him a bit of breathing room after Tuesday’s classes, sparing him the frantic rush.

As class ended today, a few students surrounded him as usual, including Liang Yuchan . She often stayed back to help tidy up—closing windows, putting away the computer—while waiting for others to finish asking their questions. Only then would she leave with him.

Han Junzhou was unsure what to make of this female student. While she didn’t act overly affectionate, her demeanor occasionally hinted at something more. She kept her Omega scent meticulously restrained and would even assist in suppressing stray Omega pheromones if needed. Yet, her frequent, almost deliberate presence around him felt puzzling. However, since Liang Yuchan had never brought up anything explicitly, Han simply played along, feigning ignorance.

While addressing a student’s question, Han noticed Bai Chengyu approaching—not towards him, but towards Liang Yuchan.

“Liang, I need to talk to you,” Bai said stiffly, his expression sour. “Come outside with me.”

“Oh,” a few students murmured, intrigued by the unfolding scene.

“Why should I listen to you?” Liang Yuchan tilted her chin defiantly. Bai Chengyu ignored her, turning on his heel. “Come or don’t, it’s up to you.”

Liang Yuchan stomped her foot dramatically, then hurried after him.

As the two exited, whispers of excitement buzzed among the remaining students.

“What’s going on between them? Did they have a fight?” Han Junzhou asked, bewildered. “Students shouldn’t quarrel—if there’s an issue, they should talk it out calmly. Maybe some of you should go mediate?”

“No need to mediate,” said a bespectacled male student with a grin. “You know how it is—couples bicker, but they’ll make up soon enough.”

“Couples?” Han was even more confused.

“Teacher, you might not know this, but Bai Shao—uh, our class representative, Bai Chengyu—is supposedly a young master from a wealthy family. You know, the kind with chauffeurs and bodyguards. I once saw his butler deliver something to him at the school gates, bowing respectfully and addressing him as ‘Young Master Bai’…” Another tall, lanky student chimed in, rambling as though Han might not remember Bai Chengyu. After a lengthy tangent, the student paused, visibly blanking on his initial point. “Right, I was saying—he and Liang Yuchan were rumored to be a couple. But this semester, it seems like they’ve broken up.”

“Have they really broken up? The campus prince and princess’s fairy tale ending shattered so soon?” Another female student exclaimed regretfully.

At that moment, Liang Yuchan’s close friend, Lin Yunru, chimed in. “What’s so great about being the campus prince? Bai Shao’s always so cold and aloof. Our Chan has both elegance and a good family background—her suitors could form a line to the horizon. It’s his luck she even gave him a chance, but he didn’t appreciate it at all. Yuchan said he didn’t call or message her even once throughout the entire summer vacation. What kind of boyfriend does that? She was understandably angry. At the start of this semester, she told everyone she was breaking up with him. When I told Bai Shao that Yuchan wanted to break up, he was so arrogant, asking me, ‘Were we even dating?’ And now, look at him—only a month later, scrambling because she’s ignoring him.” Lin Yunru smirked victoriously, looking as if she’d won a battle. “Hmph, serves him right.”

“…” Han Junzhou silently glanced toward the door where the two had left earlier, feeling a bit sorry for Bai Chengyu.

So, the little leopard likes this girl! No wonder he had scheduled a meeting on the first day of school to warn him about avoiding romantic relationships with students. But what now? A male Omega and a female Omega could be together—it’s not impossible and even less challenging than two Alphas pairing up. However, lacking Alpha pheromones for an extended period could be particularly hard on an Omega. Female Omegas, in particular, are biologically inclined to seek Alpha partners. Bai Chengyu, being as proud as he was, would find it nearly impossible to woo another Omega. Winning back Liang Yuchan was going to be a tough road.

Han Junzhou’s lips curled into a faint smile as he wrapped up the gossip session and continued addressing his students’ questions. When Xue Bingsheng approached with his notes to ask something, Han’s thoughts had already wandered. He couldn’t help but wonder where Bai Chengyu might have dragged himself to—probably some corner of the campus, caught up in a dramatic reconciliation.
