ROT CH 35
by jj.ssasipscoffeeChapter 35: I’m Not Teacher Han’s Omega
Xue Bingsheng glared at them darkly. “I’ve also figured out your relationship.”
Bai Chengyu’s heart skipped a beat as he looked at Xue Bingsheng in panic.
Han Junzhou, however, continued what he was doing. He ensured the suppressant spray was properly applied, adjusted Bai Chengyu’s wrinkled collar, capped the bottle, and stowed it in his bag before finally turning to Xue Bingsheng.
Within seconds, Bai Chengyu had composed himself, frowning and pretending to be confused as he replied, “Our relationship? Isn’t it just a teacher-student relationship?”
“Teacher-student relationship?” Xue Bingsheng sneered. “What kind of teacher-student relationship looks that intimate?”
“How are we intimate?” Bai Chengyu asked, trying to recall if there had been any overly familiar interactions earlier. Nothing came to mind. He explained to Xue Bingsheng, “I forgot to bring a suppressant spray, so I asked Teacher Han for help. What’s the problem? If you need it, you could borrow it from him too.”
“Chengyu,” Han Junzhou interjected softly, signaling him to stop.
It was only then that Bai Chengyu realized Xue Bingsheng’s face had turned pale with anger—Beta individuals had no need for suppressants. His attempt to smooth things over had inadvertently fueled Xue Bingsheng’s rage.
Furious, Xue Bingsheng hissed, “What makes you Alphas and Omegas think you’re so superior? You’re nothing more than a bunch of beasts who can’t control your instincts, constantly going into heat and releasing your scents everywhere. Animals behave like that!” He pointed at Bai Chengyu. “Especially you—you’re the most shameless. You’re clearly an Omega, yet you pretend to be an Alpha. You act like a leader among Alphas, only to turn around and use your Omega status to seduce the teacher.”
“Hey, watch your mouth!”
Wang Ziheng, who had just finished arranging dinner plans with some juniors, overheard Xue Bingsheng’s outburst. He quickly strode over toward Bai Chengyu. “Who are you accusing? Who’s pretending to be an Alpha? And which Omega is deliberately trying to seduce the teacher? Don’t you think your words contradict themselves?”
A group of people followed Wang Ziheng—his classmates, as well as a few freshmen led by Yue Qi, who were curious and came over to see what was happening.
“Contradict myself? He’s the one contradicting himself!” Xue Bingsheng barked, pointing at Bai Chengyu. “Ask him yourself—what exactly is he? An Alpha or an Omega?”
Hearing Xue Bingsheng’s accusations, Wang Ziheng and the others turned to Bai Chengyu in surprise. They saw his pale lips, uneasy yet angry expression, and clenched fists—it was clear he was furious, likely wanting to punch someone.
Noticing his friends’ confused gazes, Bai Chengyu felt lost. He had never explicitly stated he was an Alpha, but he had also never denied it when others assumed so. In fact, there were times when he subtly let the scent of rosewood, tinged with Han Junzhou’s Alpha pheromones, linger around him. Explaining his actions without appearing deceitful was difficult.
“You’re an Omega?” Liang Yuchan exclaimed incredulously, unable to comprehend the situation. Lin Yunru, standing beside her, was equally stunned. No wonder Bai Shao never reciprocated Liang Yuchan’s feelings—turns out they were both Omegas.
“Say something!” Xue Bingsheng pressed aggressively. Bai Chengyu opened his mouth several times, stammering, “I… I…” but ultimately couldn’t form coherent words. He didn’t know what to say. The thought of seeing the same disappointed look his father once wore on his friends’ faces made him freeze.
Liao Sheng glanced at Bai Chengyu and then at Xue Bingsheng, incredulous. “You’re saying the class president is an Omega? That’s impossible! He’s so exceptional—how could he not be an Alpha?”
“He’s an Omega!” Xue Bingsheng declared, pulling out his phone and showing a photo he had secretly taken during the basketball game. Although the zoomed-in image was blurry, it clearly revealed the bite mark on the back of Bai Chengyu’s neck. “Look! What kind of Alpha would let someone bite their neck and leave a mark? Even middle schoolers who’ve just had a health class know that an Alpha’s neck isn’t meant to be bitten.” Pointing at Bai Chengyu, Xue Bingsheng snarled, “He’s an Omega!”
Indeed, biting an Alpha’s gland was no trivial matter. Unlike Omegas, Alpha glands couldn’t be marked—they were prone to damage. A bite could range from minor glandular injuries to severe complications requiring surgical removal of the gonads, even posing life-threatening risks. Even a surface wound on an Alpha’s neck carried a high risk of infection, making such acts unthinkable.
Wang Ziheng was dumbfounded. Among the group, he was the closest friend to Bai Chengyu, yet he had never suspected Bai Chengyu was an Omega.
“Bai Shao, are you really an Omega?” Wang Ziheng asked, staring at Bai Chengyu, who refused to meet his eyes. Instead, Bai Chengyu stubbornly glared at Xue Bingsheng’s phone.
After a brief silence, Wang Ziheng suddenly changed his tone from shock to exaggerated admiration. “Class President, you’re amazing! To be such a strong Omega—please accept my respect!”
Li Wenting, catching on to Wang Ziheng’s dramatic reaction, joined in. “Same here! I’ve never seen an Omega like you before. You’re good at academics, fast on your feet, and have stamina that puts us all to shame. You’re incredible. It’s our fault—we assumed you were an Alpha because you’re so outstanding. That was our bias.”
Taking responsibility for the misunderstanding, Li Wenting glanced awkwardly at Han Junzhou. “Sorry, Teacher Han. You’ve been teaching us about equality among ABOs and how all genders and secondary genders can excel, yet we still held stereotypical views about Omegas.”
Liang Yuchan glared at Li Wenting, while Wen Yuyi slapped him twice in annoyance. Flustered, Li Wenting tried to calm his romantic partner. “I didn’t mean to look down on Omegas! I just thought they needed more protection…”
“Who needs your protection?” Wen Yuyi retorted, hitting Li Wenting again.
“I-I-I want to bow too!” Liao Sheng stammered, finally catching on. “Bai Shao, you’re truly remarkable…”
At that moment, Bai Chengyu’s friends rallied around him. What did it matter if he was an Alpha or an Omega? They were friends with Bai Shao the person, not his secondary gender. Even Guo Xinkai, who wasn’t particularly close to Bai Chengyu, nodded his support despite his initial surprise.
The disappointment Bai Chengyu feared from his classmates didn’t materialize. Instead, his friends looked at him with admiration, saying, “You’re incredible. Please accept our respect.” In the awed gazes of his peers, Bai Chengyu felt a bit dazed and overwhelmed but undeniably warmed. Their acceptance touched him, causing his tightly pressed lips to twitch upward into a faint smile.
Han Junzhou felt gratified. The students he had painstakingly guided hadn’t let him down. Although they held some preconceived notions, they were quick to accept the truth when it was revealed. Rather than resenting an Omega’s excellence, they genuinely admired it.
As more onlookers gathered, the murmurs grew louder, many whispering about the sudden revelation. Bai Chengyu had been regarded as the charismatic Alpha heartthrob of the school, and this abrupt change to a strong Omega shocked many. However, judging by the murmured exclamations of those around him, most shared the same admiration as Wang Ziheng and the others. People understood that delicate Omegas dominated their demographic, and someone as powerful and commanding as Bai Chengyu was a rarity.
Xue Bingsheng was furious. His intention in exposing Bai Chengyu as an Omega wasn’t to see him garner more admiration. “What’s so great about him? He’s just a fraud! His good grades are all because of Teacher Han. He’s nothing more than Teacher Han’s Omega!” Xue Bingsheng yelled, voice laced with venom.
“I’m not!” Bai Chengyu retorted instantly, his face pale but resolute. “I’m not his Omega. This has nothing to do with Teacher Han. Don’t make baseless claims!” Bai Chengyu’s rebuttal was swift and sharp, his face white with tension. He refused to let Han Junzhou be implicated in this matter.
When discussions of teacher-student relationships arose, it was often the teacher who bore the brunt of societal judgment, shouldering accusations of unethical conduct.
Bai Chengyu wouldn’t allow that.
He wouldn’t let Han Junzhou’s reputation be tarnished because of their relationship.
