The next day, when Lin You saw Cole again, it was in a military jeep.

He leaned down, peering through the transparent window, and saw Cole leaning down with a smile.

Lin You looked Cole up and down. His height made it a bit cramped inside the vehicle, and his long legs sprawled out, leaving no room for the guard to sit.

Ignoring Cole’s friendly smile, he turned around and sat in the passenger seat.

Seeing that the driver was Xia Zuo surprised Lin You a little.

    “What’s up? You going too?”

Xia Zuo turned his deep brown eyes toward him, forcing a smile as he pressed his lips together, and Lin You noticed that his lips looked a bit pale.

“I’ve had professional training too.” Xia Zuo’s voice was soft as he glanced around, speaking earnestly in a low voice, “Don’t worry.”

Don’t worry, Matthew doesn’t suspect their relationship.

That was what Xia Zuo meant to convey.

Lin You raised an eyebrow. Although he found it a bit strange that Xia Zuo was joining the trip to Gowei City, he didn’t think much of it. As he settled into the car, the persistent dull pain from the wound on his left side made him feel a bit drowsy. He curled up slightly, which made him feel somewhat uncomfortable.

As the vehicle started moving, the occasional bumps in the road jolted Lin You’s still-healing wound, causing him to clutch his stomach and lean back against the seat, his face pale.

He closed his eyes, trying to feign sleep, hoping to temporarily forget the pain.

After a brief, hazy nap, Lin You was suddenly jolted awake, a tearing sensation from his wound causing him to let out a muffled groan.

“Ha.” Laughter came from beside him.

Having just woken up, Lin You’s head was still spinning. He felt weak and just wanted to close his eyes and sleep again.

“Hehe.” Seeing that he didn’t respond, Xia Zuo laughed a couple more times.

Lin You felt a bit annoyed and turned his head, weakly asking, “What are you laughing at?”

“You were just groaning, and I didn’t know what was going on.”

    “So?” Lin You replied impatiently.

“It sounded so pleasant. If you weren’t sitting next to me, just listening to the sound, I would have thought someone was having their way with you.” Xia Zuo’s voice was low, his tone relaxed and lazy.

Lin You’s body jolted, “What did you say?”

His voice carried a mix of confusion and suspicion as he scrutinized the curve of Xia Zuo’s smiling lips, a strange feeling rising in his heart.

    “Have you lost your mind?”

Xia Zuo didn’t care that he was driving. One hand rested on the window to support his head while the other held the steering wheel. “Just making a joke, Assistant Lin You.” His tone was teasing.

After saying that, he placed both hands back on the steering wheel, focusing intently on the road ahead, as if he had never spoken at all.

Lin You silently assessed Xia Zuo for a moment before turning his head to look back at Cole.

Seeing Lin You turn to look at him, Cole just put on an innocent smile, tilting his head in response.

Because the two were separated by bulletproof glass, Lin You couldn’t speak to Cole.

He gave Cole the middle finger, then lay back in his seat, frowning in thought.

    If there was something off…

Aside from the fact that Xia Zuo wouldn’t normally speak to him like that…

There was also the point that Xia Zuo wouldn’t address him with his title. Most people from the research institute called him Mr. Lin You. For six years, only one person had ever called him “Assistant Lin You”…

Lin You pressed his finger to his lips, his pupils slightly constricting.

    Cole Martinez.

A warning bell rang in his mind. Lin You remained calm, turning his back to Xia Zuo, then slowly reaching for the handgun hidden at his waist, gripping the handle.

…How could it be? Even if Xia Zuo had accidentally been infected with the E-Virus, could Cole really have the power to control him?

He almost wanted to laugh. It couldn’t be that they were caught off guard right before heading to Gowei City, could it?

Maybe it was just that Xia Zuo was acting strangely.

Lin You did his best to suppress his discomfort, feigning indifference and calmness as he chuckled, “Xia Zuo, do you want to explain what you just said?”

Xia Zuo turned his head, looking at Lin You with confusion, “Lin You, what are you talking about? I didn’t say anything just now.”

Lin You’s expression darkened at his words, “Xia Zuo.”

The gun slipped from its holster, “Damn!” he cursed, using the exclamation to cover the metallic sound of the gun being cocked. He then leaned closer to Xia Zuo, coldly saying, “You know this isn’t funny.”

“How could it not be funny?” A warm breath brushed against his left ear, and he felt a cold force on his shoulder.

Lin You didn’t dare turn around, his eyes narrowing, pupils instantly shrinking.

“Honey, you have no idea how sexy your gasps sounded just now.” Cole’s voice was sluggish, with the ends of his syllables merging together, captivating as if bathed in great wine, “I like it. I want to hear you like that again later.”

A chilling sensation surged up his spine.

Lin You immediately looked up, and through the rearview mirror, he noticed that the bulletproof glass was already gone. A strong smell of blood wafted from the necks of the two guards beside Cole, their heads severed. He turned his eyes and found that Xia Zuo had already lost half his head, staring at him with wide eyes, the cloudy brain matter mixed with blood flowing over those wide-open eyes.

And all of this happened in an instant?

He was startled but still told himself to stay calm and think of a strategy.

Lin You swallowed hard, once again meeting Cole’s golden eyes in the rearview mirror, along with his blood-stained face.

“…Kill me.” Lin You suppressed his panic, trying to remain calm as he slowly moved the handgun hidden at his waist, “Just eat me, like you’ve always wanted.”

“Tsk tsk tsk.” Cole chuckled, shaking his head, his lips once again close to Lin You’s ear, “Honey, you know I can’t bear to.”

As he spoke, his hand slid into Lin You’s sweater, his cold fingers slipping in through the collar, directly exploring his chest, sensually kneading and caressing Lin You’s moderately sized pectoral muscles, then pressing down on Lin You’s nipple with his nails.

Lin You shuddered, enduring the strange sensations continuously coming from his chest, the cold fingers gliding over his elastic muscles, leaving a lingering chill.

“Honey, now it’s just the two of us left. What should we do?” Cole couldn’t help but smile, leaning closer to Lin You’s ear, delighting in the rapid breaths of the person beneath him and the sensation of the rising bulge on his fingers.

With his chin resting on Lin You’s shoulder, Cole bit down on the skin at the edge of his neck, his sharp upper teeth sinking in slightly. He felt Lin You shudder, then take a deep breath. Lin You was stubbornly holding back a groan of pain in his throat.

Cole savored the soft sensation at his lips and the sweet taste of blood, extending his tongue to slowly lick the wound he had created, where blood was oozing out.

As he bit and sucked, Lin You’s pale neck bore two tiny puncture wounds, now marked with dark red and purple bruises from Cole’s sucking.

“Cole.” Lin You turned his head to interrupt Cole’s actions, pressing a hand against Cole’s head, giving a light peck on Cole’s lips.

“I thought you would resist.” Cole’s eyes lowered, a satisfied smile in them.

“Resisting isn’t easier than accepting. I thought you knew that.”

Lin You whispered, once again covering Cole’s lips with his own.

He sucked and nibbled at Cole’s lips, which were slightly below normal body temperature. Cole closed his eyes in satisfaction, enjoying it. Lin You bit down a bit harder, feeling a bit rough, but he had to admit it was indeed cute.

Just as he was trailing down from Lin You’s lips back to the neck where he had left his mark, preparing to bite again…

“Clang.” The sound of metal clashing.

The smile in Cole’s eyes faded, his golden pupils lifting, reflecting Lin You’s slightly trembling hand and the gun aimed at his forehead.

When someone in an excited state is suddenly interrupted, they tend to get unhappy, especially a mad dog who kills without hesitation.

“Honey.” He lowered his gaze to hide his emotions. Because of his lowered head, Lin You couldn’t see his expression directly, but he could feel the pain in his throat, as if it were being squeezed.

The lips pressed against his neck felt cold, but the breath exhaled was hot, warming his skin yet making him feel as if he were in an ice cellar.

“Resisting can be a form of fun, but too much of it gets annoying, you know?”

“Do you think you’re not annoying?” Lin You scoffed, slightly turning his head to avoid Cole’s lips, pushing him toward the back seat, “Mutual consent is what makes it fun. If only one side is aroused, that’s called r*pe.”

“If you were smart enough, you wouldn’t fall into the same trap twice.”

“That’s the difference between a dog and a human, Cole.”

Cole moved away from Lin You, slumping back against the seat. He initially wore a cold expression, but upon seeing the gun aimed at his head, he suddenly laughed, starting with a light chuckle that escalated into full-blown laughter.

    “…What’s so funny?”

“What do you think I’m laughing at?” Cole leaned back against the seat, propping his head up with one hand, his tone lazy and cheerful, “Just thinking about how funny it is to see you, Honey, being ‘taken’ by me, this dog.”

I can wait patiently until the day the fruit is ripe and sweet, right?

    My Honey, Lin You—

    Lin You!

Lin You opened his eyes, suddenly waking up, immediately drawing the gun from his waist and pointing it at the chin of the person in front of him.

Xia Zuo was startled, quickly moving away from him, raising both hands in shock, “…Lin You? What… what’s wrong?”

Lin You froze for a few seconds, then slowly came back to his senses from the alert state, panting heavily as he surveyed his surroundings.

He was still sitting in the car, facing Xia Zuo, who was startled by his gun. Looking back, the bulletproof glass was still intact in the middle of the vehicle, and the two guards in the back seat, one male and one female, were also looking at him with surprised expressions.

Only Cole could be seen, trapped behind iron bars, grinning widely.

Lin You turned back to Xia Zuo, touching his still slightly painful neck, glancing at the rearview mirror. His neck was fine, with no wounds at all.

But the lingering cold sting in his chest and the tingling sensation from where his neck had been sucked still felt vivid.

His mind flashed with a jumble of thoughts, and he pressed his lips together, slowly lowering the gun.

“Sorry, Xia Zuo.” He holstered the gun back at his waist, then looked up at the outside of the car, seeing the makeshift base that had been set up and the armed guards surrounding the vehicle.

He tapped his head, adding, “I was a bit dazed and had a nightmare.”

“Hey, it’s okay.” Xia Zuo was somewhat surprised that Lin You would apologize first, then broke into a gentle smile, “I saw you sleeping soundly. You must really be feeling unwell. But Lin You, we’ve arrived. Let’s get out of the car.”
