OMS 24
by Cherry[Won’t you come back right now? How could you do this?! Do you want to see your mother die?!]
“That’s enough. You’ve done enough. Sister-in-law looks terrible. I’m taking her to the hospital first.”
[She’s not your sister-in-law! She’s an evil spirit! The Divine Lady says if we leave her be, she’ll bring disaster to our house! It’ll only get harder to remove! Tae-han, listen to your mother. Okay? It’s not too late now—]
The voice cut off abruptly, and Park Dong-sik slowly opened his eyes. The scenery was rapidly changing outside the car window. Turning his head, he saw Kim Tae-han sitting next to him with a fierce expression on his face, one he’d never seen before since they first met.
When he tried to speak, his voice wouldn’t come out properly. He let out a groan, and Kim Tae-han quickly pulled the car over to the shoulder. He unbuckled his seatbelt and turned completely to check on Park Dong-sik.
“Are you okay? Does it hurt a lot?”
Park Dong-sik just blinked slowly. After being tied up for so long and that damn mudang stabbing at his body with a knife, it felt like his skin had been completely scraped off.
“Where are we…?”
“Heading to Seoul.”
“Where was that place earlier?”
“Daejeon.”
Ah, we went quite far. Crazy old woman. Pain surged with every movement he made, and when he grimaced, Kim Tae-han tried to lift his clothes to check on his wounds. Park Dong-sik pushed his hand away and rolled his shoulders back once.
“I’m fine, just go home.”
“But the hospital—”
“Forget about it. I want to go home, shower, and rest. I’m exhausted.”
Kim Tae-han let out a small sigh and started the car. Throughout the drive back, the mudang’s words echoed in Park Dong-sik’s ears.
[In life, you tormented others for money, made them cry tears of blood, did all sorts of evil things, and now you enter a living person’s body to torment them?]
[You don’t need a bride, do you? You like men, right? That’s why you attached yourself to him? Because men go crazy for him?]
Ha, it was too specific to be just a lucky guess. Sometimes they say there are skilled mudangs—could they be one of them? They certainly had a different look in their eyes compared to that so-called spiritual counselor from before.
“How did you know to come and get me?”
“Kim Ah-ra told me. She said Mother went to a powerful mudang in Daejeon, but I couldn’t believe it…I never dreamed she’d take you there like that.”
Park Dong-sik barely managed a hollow laugh.
“Tell me about it. Your mother’s something else. Never imagined she’d put me in an ambulance and drag me to a ritual. This is why people caught up in superstition are scary. Getting scammed by that spiritual whatever and still wanting to believe. Ridiculous!”
As he grumbled, Kim Tae-han watched him quietly. Maybe he shouldn’t have said that. Is he suspicious of me too? Should have heeded Kim Yoon-ah’s advice. Should have watched what I said…
“I’m glad.”
“About what?”
“That you don’t seem to be in too much pain.”
Park Dong-sik put on an indignant face.
“That’s not true. It hurts like hell. My arms and legs are all sore.”
“I didn’t mean there. I meant here.”
Kim Tae-han’s hand precisely touched his left chest.
“Since the accident, Hee-soo seems like a different person.”
Park Dong-sik flinched and avoided the other man’s gaze.
“And I like that. I hope the memories never come back. No matter what others say, I like Hee-soo as she is now. Bold and brazen Hee-soo.”
Park Dong-sik’s ears burned. His heart suddenly started racing, and he quickly pushed away Kim Tae-han’s hand, telling him to focus on driving. During the car ride,, Park Dong-sik looked out the window. But he couldn’t help being conscious of Kim Tae-han in the driver’s seat.
This guy. Saying strange things for no reason…
Park Dong-sik let out a small sigh and patted his chest.
Calm down. Okay? Don’t get too excited.
***
It was already dark when they arrived home. After refusing Kim Tae-han’s plea to go to the hospital, when Kim Tae-han tried to follow him inside, Park Dong-sik forcefully pushed him away. Please go. I want to rest alone today.
After sending him away, Kim Yoon-ah came running breathlessly to the entrance as he went inside.
“Where on earth were you? Why didn’t you answer your phone? Good heavens, your condition…What happened to your face? Where have you been rolling around? And your wrists…”
Kim Yoon-ah was speechless, and Park Dong-sik gritted his teeth tightly while looking at the binding marks on his wrists.
“Dear, I almost got sent to the afterlife today.”
“The afterlife?”
“Don’t even ask. While I was sleeping, Madam Song dragged me to a shaman ritual.”
He could still hear the mudang’s shouts ringing in his ears. He stumbled to the sofa and collapsed there, while Kim Yoon-ah followed, pale-faced.
“What do you mean? The elder madam forcibly took you?”
“Yeah. Completely crazy.”
He didn’t have the energy to explain everything. Though returning home brought some relief, he still felt uneasy. What if he got kidnapped again while sleeping?
“I’m going to sleep a bit…Will you stay with me?”
“Yes, of course. Don’t worry and rest well.”
“Thanks…”
He fell asleep immediately and had a nightmare. With each strike of the mudang’s ritual knife on his shoulders and limbs, flesh fell off his body. It was a terrible dream.
As he was running away from the shouting mudang, someone grabbed his shoulder! He turned around startled, and his eyes flew open. His gaze met Kim Jun-han’s, who was looking down at him. He was holding a blanket.
“Ah, you looked cold.”
Park Dong-sik blinked slowly.
“Today, the brothers…are taking turns saving me?”
“What do you mean?”
“Never mind…”
He forced himself to sit up in the bed. His whole body ached as if he’d been beaten, causing involuntary groans. Kim Yoon-ah wasn’t visible. Had she gone home? He would have felt more at ease with her presence…
“Manager Kim went home.”
Park Dong-sik pressed his lips together. Should he tell this guy? No, what difference would it make? He’d probably just laugh. It would only make him feel worse. As he sat tight-lipped, Kim Jun-han brought a chair over and sat down.
“I heard you had a hard time because of Mother today.”
“Oh? You knew. Who told you? Ms. Yoon-ah?”
“No. Tae-han.”
He couldn’t tell if the brothers’ relationship was bad or not. Normally, if your spouse slept with your sibling, knife fights wouldn’t be surprising. Anyway, they’re both strange.
“Let’s wrap this up quickly. You probably don’t want to experience things like this anymore.”
“Wrap what up?”
“Our divorce. Though you’ve lost your memories, we have documentation of what we agreed to. I’ll have the lawyer explain the details tomorrow.”
So we’re really getting divorced. That’s actually good. If I can’t return to my original body, it’s better to escape from here as soon as possible. Hopefully with substantial alimony.
“Alright.”
“Good, rest up.”
Kim Jun-han stood up. His shirt pulled taut across his broad shoulders and firm chest. The suit fit him perfectly. From his neatly styled pomade hair to his intensely seductive gaze. Park Dong-sik’s eyes eventually wandered to the spot between Kim Jun-han’s legs.
“Do you have something to say?”
“If I had something to say, I’d be looking at your face, not your dick.”
Kim Jun-han’s brow furrowed at the crude word. Park Dong-sik licked his lips and hummed thoughtfully. If they divorced, he couldn’t guarantee finding someone like this elsewhere.
“I didn’t cheat because of you, right?”
“What do you mean?”
“Like, because you’re impotent or something?”
Kim Jun-han raised one eyebrow, and Park Dong-sik smiled.
“Just kidding. Though since we’re divorcing anyway…”
“What?”
“Want to do it once?”
This time his face contorted.
“Did the mudang hit you on the head?”
“Why so fussy? People’s tastes can change after a near-death experience.”
“Tastes?”
Seeing his dumbfounded expression, Park Dong-sik smiled shamelessly. Right, since it’s come to this, might as well get a taste before parting.
“Fine. Give me one time and I’ll stamp the divorce papers cleanly.”
As he smiled coyly, Kim Jun-han wrinkled his nose in disgust. Park Dong-sik instinctively realized that pheromones or whatever that scent was were seducing Kim Jun-han right now. This isn’t hard. Is this all it takes? Park Dong-sik deliberately sucked his lower lip while imagining their intimate encounter.
“Think of it as goodbye sex.”
“Stop it. That’s enough.”
“Why? Got a secret lover somewhere?”
“That’s your story, isn’t it? Let’s not do something we’ll regret later on.”
“Look here, Mr. Kim Jun-han. No one knows what the future holds. So don’t be too harsh. Who knows? After divorcing you, if I marry Kim Tae-han, we might become family again. Just imagining it is so thrilling. What should I call you then? Brother-in-law? How often does an ex-husband become a brother-in-law? This family would foam at the mouth and collapse. Though you probably wouldn’t even bat an eye.”
While he was snickering to himself, Kim Jun-han pinned him down by the shoulders. His face was cold but intensely erotic when looked up at. Park Dong-sik unbuttoned the top of Kim Jun-han’s shirt.
“So our CEO is human after all. Getting excited.”
When he stimulated between his legs with his thigh, Kim Jun-han pulled away, then pulled the blanket up to his chin and wrapped him tightly in it. He tried to escape, but Kim Jun-han rolled him in the blanket once more, making it impossible to move.
“Hey!”
Kim Jun-han calmly rebuttoned his shirt.
“Sorry. Lee Hee-soo isn’t someone I prefer.”
Then he left the room without another glance back. Wrapped like a cocoon in the blanket, Park Dong-sik glared at the door in disbelief. That bastard…
“Be honest! You are impotent, aren’t you!”
He shouted, but couldn’t tell whether the other man heard him or not.
