OMS 29
by CherryWhite ceiling and beeping machine sounds. Is this déjà vu? I experienced something similar not too long ago. As he opened his eyes and looked around, he heard a voice.
“The patient is awake.”
Park Dong-sik first lifted his arm with the IV drip. Though he had hoped otherwise, seeing the slender wrist and fingers made him laugh. He couldn’t tell if it was relief or a bitter chuckle. That was when the doctor walked in.
Park Dong-sik struggled to speak to the doctor who was asking various questions.
“Kim Yoon-ah…”
His voice was terribly hoarse.
“Pardon?”
“The woman who was in the car with me…where is she?”
“She’s in intensive care.”
Damn it. Park Dong-sik squeezed his eyes shut. The doctor said she was unconscious. They performed surgery, but couldn’t guarantee she’d wake up. When he tried to get up to see her, the doctor and nurse quickly stopped him.
“You mustn’t move carelessly. We’ll let you know if there are any changes.”
After checking a few things and writing on the chart, the doctor explained about the wounds. He was explaining how there was minor bleeding from glass embedded in the left abdomen and that he needed to be careful not to aggravate the wound when all of a sudden there was a knock on the door and a stranger appeared.
It was a middle-aged man he’d never seen before, with remarkably handsome features. Should he say beautiful? Before he could ask who it was, the man grabbed Park Dong-sik’s hand.
“Hee-soo. Mom’s here!”
Park Dong-sik recoiled and yanked his hand away. What the hell?! The man’s eyes immediately welled up with tears.
“They said you lost your memory, so it’s true.”
The man wore the most pitiful expression in the world, and the doctor and nurse looked at him with sympathy in their eyes.
“We’ll leave now.”
After the medical staff left, the man’s expression changed completely. His face wiping away tears turned cold.
“Did you have to do that in front of everyone? Even if you don’t feel close to me, that was mortifying.”
“Who are you…?”
The man’s brow furrowed.
“I told you. I’m your mother.”
Goosebumps rose all over. There seems to be a limit to understanding these alpha and omega creatures. Wait…if I have a child, would they call me mother too? Ah, that’s creepy. I definitely shouldn’t have kids.
“I heard about you recently. They say you had head trauma?”
Instead of answering, Park Dong-sik stared at the man. He clearly didn’t have even a speck of worry or sympathy for his child. It was no wonder that Lee Hee-soo had a bad relationship with him.
“Isn’t your in-laws’ family making an issue of this? That’s why I told you to stay on Kim Jun-han’s good side, didn’t I? You can’t even win over one Alpha’s heart? After what happened to your father, you have no one to rely on now. What are you going to do?”
“…”
“You didn’t get involved with that family’s second son, did you?”
“…”
“If nothing else works, at least hold onto him. They’re both sons anyway. Because of that Chairman Kim won’t throw you out.”
What is this ma’am, no, sir talking about? As he was about to tell him to leave, the man lowered his voice.
“You…did they find out?”
“About what?”
“About your affair.”
“…”
“That’s why I told you what? I told you to end it, didn’t I? I said that person was strange from the start. Did you know they contacted me asking for money too? Did they contact Mr. Kim as well? Though I suppose you wouldn’t remember this now. Anyway, I haven’t heard anything about whether that person is dead or alive lately. You haven’t heard anything either?”
Who is he talking about? The affair partner from the phone? That person demanded money? They said they were missing, was that true? Ah, thinking about all of this was making his head throb. He rubbed his temples with his palms, feeling a headache forming behind his eyes.
“Hey.”
“Hey? Heeeey?”
“No, mo…ah fuck, I just can’t say it.”
“My goodness. Where did you learn such vulgar language?”
“Anyway, please leave. My head feels like it’s going to explode right now, so please go? Okay? Let’s talk later.”
Park Dong-sik found it too exhausting and troublesome to say anymore, so he pulled the blanket over himself and lay down.
“After not seeing you for so long, you’re going to be like this? Get up. Mom still has things to say! I said get up! How long are you going to act like this? Huh? Hee-soo!”
Park Dong-sik held onto the blanket and persisted until the end. He thought that whether Park Dong-sik or Lee Hee-soo, rich or poor, with family or without, the hardships of life weren’t that different.
That’s really comforting. Fuck…
After Lee Hee-soo’s mom finally left after whining for a while, time passed. As he was alternating between sleeping and waking, the door creaked open again. Thinking it was medical staff, he lowered his blanket and saw an unexpected person.
Park Dong-sik sat up abruptly in bed.
“Oh?”
Kim Jun-han came up to him and examined Park Dong-sik with his eyes.
With an utterly unreadable expression on his face.
“What is it? Why did you come here?”
“Is my coming here that surprising?”
“Of course, it is. You didn’t even come when I almost drowned.”
Kim Jun-han remained silent, and Park Dong-sik wore a lewd smile.
“What’s this? Did you develop feelings after sleeping with me once?”
While chuckling, his side hurt. As he groaned and curled up in pain, Kim Jun-han’s brow furrowed as well.
“Does it hurt a lot?”
“Kim Yoon-ah is hurt worse than me. She’s in intensive care and unconscious.”
“I heard.”
“What happened to the car that hit us?”
“The police are searching for them.”
“Can they find them quickly? I’m really uneasy about this. The first hit might have been an accident, but the second one was definitely intentional. I remember it clearly.”
“Are you suggesting someone ordered it?”
“Why? Feeling guilty?”
“Me?”
“Well, I refused when you asked for a divorce. Who knows? Maybe you decided it’d be better to get rid of me altogether.”
While subtly probing, Kim Jun-han laughed in disbelief. Park Dong-sik was secretly relieved, thinking that at least Kim Jun-han hadn’t ordered it. And actually, he had someone else in mind.
“Or maybe it was your father.”
“That’s impossible.”
Park Dong-sik felt annoyed at how he defensively took his father’s side.
“How can you be so sure? You never know what people might do.”
“He’s in intensive care.”
Park Dong-sik’s mouth fell open. When he asked what that meant, Kim Jun-han explained everything. His face showed no signs of emotion—anyone who didn’t know him would think he was talking about a stranger.
“He fell down the stairs in his wheelchair. Whether it was an accident or someone did it on purpose, there’s no evidence. The CCTV was turned off.”
“That means…”
“He’s unconscious.”
Words failed him at that moment. The first person who came to mind was Kim Tae-han. Did that bastard really…cause the accident? He was too scared to even ask where Kim Tae-han was. As his eyes darted around the room, Kim Jun-han tilted his head slightly.
“You had a big fight with Father yesterday, right?”
“I-It wasn’t me!”
“Of course not. You were brought here and lying in bed at that time.”
“…”
Park Dong-sik kept his mouth shut. What was going on? Both Kim Yoon-ah and the old man are unconscious? Honestly, he didn’t care whether the old man lived or died, but Kim Yoon-ah was different. Wasn’t she the only person he could trust and rely on while living and breathing as Lee Hee-soo?
As he was lost in various thoughts, Kim Jun-han spoke up again.
“Tae-han won’t come. There’s public attention, and I told him not to come.”
“Who asked?”
“You looked like you were waiting.”
“No? I was just thinking about other things. Why are you jumping to conclusions?”
“Fine then. A caregiver will come soon to take care of you. The doctor says your wounds aren’t deep and you can be discharged in a few days, so we’ll see you at home.”
“Okay…”
Kim Jun-han stood up. Today too, he was impeccably dressed. It was hard to imagine this was the same man who forcefully undressed him and probed his hole last night. While Park Dong-sik was thinking such thoughts, Kim Jun-han reached out.
Park Dong-sik flinched and backed away.
“W-What are you doing?”
His hand adjusted the loose hospital gown inward.
“Keep your clothes neat.”
What’s with him suddenly getting close?
Damn it. I’m actually getting aroused in this type of situation.
As his body heated up and his stomach tingled, Kim Jun-han furrowed his brow.
“Again just now.”
Park Dong-sik made an indignant face.
“I didn’t do it on purpose!”
“Did you forget how to control it too?”
“Kim Yoon-ah taught me and I practiced…but it’s not as easy as it sounds…You think I want to leak like this? I’m not some dog in heat…”
Without realizing it, he was mumbling excuses while waving his hands around.
“Ah whatever, just go. This is so annoying.”
As he grumbled, Kim Jun-han smiled uncharacteristically before turning away. Did he just smile? Or was he smirking? Either way, he’s smiling at me. Just like last time.
He turned around and was about to open the door when Park Dong-sik called out urgently.
“Mr. Kim Jun-han!”
Kim Jun-han looked back and Park Dong-sik’s lips moved.
“What is it?”
“Um…”
“…”
“Thanks for visiting. Take care.”
Before Kim Jun-han could say anything else, Park Dong-sik lay back down and pulled the blanket over his head. He couldn’t hear anything. The door slid open, then closed. Silence. Meanwhile, his ears burned and his heart started beating faster.
