“It’s nice to have everyone together for a meal. If only your father would join us, but he won’t come down from upstairs. I wonder if he’s developed a stair phobia from the aftermath of the accident. It’s rather upsetting.”

At Madam Song’s words, Park Dong-sik glanced at Kim Jun-han sitting next to him. He was certain Chairman Kim wasn’t afraid of the stairs but of Kim Jun-han. Last night when Kim Jun-han returned from abroad, Kim Yoon-ah had even messaged to complain. Just thinking about eating with Kim Jun-han made her feel sick already. Park Dong-sik completely understood her feelings.

Kim Jun-han, who’d been overseas for over ten days dealing with factory relocation, looked slightly tired from the long flight. This made his expression appear sharper and colder than usual, which matched Park Dong-sik’s taste perfectly.

He then looked at Kim Tae-han sitting across from him. Since last seeing him, Kim Tae-han had neatly trimmed his formerly casual hair and now gave off more of an office worker vibe. After his movie release, Kim Tae-han had spent most of his time in Seoul managing his busy schedule, but still regularly contacted Park Dong-sik to check up on him.

Compared to that, Kim Jun-han only contacted him three times. “What are you doing? Have you eaten? Did you read the book thoroughly?” What a tasteless bastard. Park Dong-sik alternately muttered about the two men in his mind. Who could be the baby’s father? Let’s guess…

“Sister-in-law, are you feeling better? I heard you weren’t well.”

Kim Tae-han asked with concern in his voice, and Park Dong-sik nodded.

“As you can see, I’m fine. Must have been stomach trouble.”

    Kim Ah-ra chimed in too.

“Isn’t it because you drink too much, sister-in-law? The staff say they find a lot of empty bottles when cleaning!”

Park Dong-sik shot her a flat look.

“Shh. Be quiet, kid. Don’t interrupt adults talking.” As he sent this warning, Kim Ah-ra pouted and quickly looked away. Seeing this unfold before her eyes, Madam Song glared at Park Dong-sik coldly.

“Mind your behavior. Don’t give the staff something to gossip about.”

Park Dong-sik answered halfheartedly. “Yes, Mother.” Then, trying to eat, he couldn’t find any side dishes appealing. Despite the feast that was laid out in front of him, nothing sat well in his stomach. Though the hospital had prescribed medicine effective for morning sickness and the vomiting had stopped in the meantime, his appetite still wasn’t what it used to be. As he picked at his rice, Kim Jun-han glanced at him.

“Would you like some porridge instead?”

A sudden silence fell across the room, with family members showing various expressions. Madam Song frowned, Kim Ah-ra looked surprised, and Kim Tae-han…was fucking pissed. His eyes were burning holes right through him. Park Dong-sik was also at a loss for words. He tried to decline politely, but Kim Jun-han called the household help and asked them to make porridge and bring it to the guest house.

Park Dong-sik thought while looking at him, Why is this bastard acting like this? His sudden kindness is scary…

Kim Jun-han’s face was expressionless, making his thoughts even harder to read.

    That was when…

“Sister-in-law, after dinner could you help me choose clothes? I need to start work soon, but I’m not sure what to wear.”

Park Dong-sik’s mouth moved while holding his spoon. Kim Tae-han raised his eyebrow and then lowered it. His expression said ‘What’s the problem?’ Park Dong-sik could see that clothes were just an excuse, it was a signal to have some fun in the dressing room. Park Dong-sik carefully chose his words in his mind. Though being starved for sex for so long did make it tempting…

    “Well then—”

“Choose your own clothes. It’s rude to ask someone who’s unwell such favors, you’re not a child.”

The atmosphere grew tense at Kim Jun-han’s blunt words. Come to think of it, this bastard Kim Jun-han had installed cameras in Kim Tae-han’s dressing room. Where was it again? Looking at the screen position, it was in the ceiling corner. While debating whether to tell Kim Tae-han the truth, Park Dong-sik suddenly realized there was an underlying tension between the two men.

“Brother, aren’t you overreacting? Sister-in-law has been helping me choose clothes for ages. Why act like this now? As if someone stole your wife.”

Kim Tae-han smiled slyly, and though Kim Jun-han remained calm on the surface, his eyes flashed with murderous intent. Park Dong-sik unconsciously rubbed his neck. Was someone choking him? Otherwise, why was it getting so hard to breathe? Seeing this, Madam Song intervened.

“Tae-han. Stop it. I’ll help you choose.”

“I prefer sister-in-law’s help. She has good taste and knows exactly what I like. We have a lot in common, don’t we, sister-in-law?”

Kim Tae-han asked, and Park Dong-sik kicked his leg hard under the table. Shut up, you bastard.

    Suddenly, Kim Ah-ra screamed.

    “Ow! Someone kicked my leg!”

Park Dong-sik startled and reached under the table.

“Sorry. I had a leg cramp.”

While pretending to massage his perfectly fine leg, Kim Tae-han smiled shamelessly from across the table. Park Dong-sik glared at him, then quickly lowered his gaze after meeting Madam Song’s eyes. His stomach churned. He was about to throw up everything inside, but fortunately, Kim Jun-han stood up.

“I need to head to work, so I’ll leave first.”

As Park Dong-sik sighed in relief, Kim Jun-han looked at him.

“Let’s go. You seem done eating.”

Park Dong-sik looked between his spoon and Kim Jun-han’s face. His eyes quietly warned Park Dong-sik to get up, and it couldn’t be ignored. As he put down his spoon and stood up, Kim Tae-han watched with his smile now gone. Park Dong-sik said goodbye to Madam Song and followed Kim Jun-han toward the guest house. His back burned as if being stabbed with needles, and he didn’t need to check to know whose gaze that was.

Kim Jun-han stopped briefly in the corridor halfway to the guest house.

“Why didn’t you tell me you were sick?”

“What difference would it make? You were abroad anyway.”

“Still, you shouldn’t have let me hear it from others.”

His tone was strangely cold. Since he turned away immediately, there was no way to see his expression. Park Dong-sik cursed internally. Since when did he care about me? At the guest house, Kim Jun-han moved to prepare for work while Park Dong-sik sat at the table, staring blankly out the window.

Despite it being winter, the blue sky reminded him of his future. Just safely have the baby and hand it over, and he’d get billions of won. Just imagining it made him smile, when his phone rang. As he feared, it was Kim Tae-han.

[Come to me when Brother Jun-han leaves for work.]

Park Dong-sik chewed his lips before typing:

[Can’t for a while. And check your dressing room and bedroom carefully. There are cameras.]

His heart pounded after sending it. What if this guy comes running over right now? Hopefully he won’t suspect Jun-han. While anxiously watching the message window, a reply came: [I know.]

Park Dong-sik couldn’t close his gaping mouth.

Knows? He knows? He knew and still did all that? This crazy bastard.

    Another message arrived:

[Does that turn you off? Or should I come over? Want to do it thrillingly in brother’s bedroom?]

This fu—He cursed out loud, then imagined it, it would actually be thrilling. Damn. I must be crazy. What am I thinking? Park Dong-sik slapped his own cheek to snap out of it. He couldn’t let Kim Tae-han sway him. He needed to be careful with his body now. Hadn’t they said excessive sex was bad in early pregnancy? Can’t risk losing my treasure.

Though he felt materialistic for suddenly changing his view of the baby from a nuisance to a treasure, Park Dong-sik had no real attachment to the child.

[Let’s avoid it for a while. For both our sakes, okay?]

[I just miss you. I won’t do anything else.]

Park Dong-sik’s fingers froze over the keyboard at the next message. Even during his busy schedule, Kim Tae-han always talked about missing him. While hesitating, his phone was suddenly snatched away. Kim Jun-han, who had come down at some point, took Park Dong-sik’s phone and was looking at the screen.

When Park Dong-sik reached for it, he stepped back and smiled mockingly at the screen. Then he typed something without permission and threw the phone on the table.

Park Dong-sik picked up the phone and burst out angrily.

“Why are you taking other people’s phones as you please?!”

Kim Jun-han strode right up to his face. The overwhelming difference in physique was enough to feel threatening, and Park Dong-sik automatically shrank back. He looked down coldly and spat out, “Other people? We’re married.”

    “…”

“Stay quietly at home. I’ll see you after work.”

He went straight out and disappeared in the waiting car. Park Dong-sik laughed in disbelief, then kicked the table leg in frustration. Damn it. This hurts my pride. I can’t believe I got scared. He picked up his phone. The screen still showed the message Kim Jun-han had sent to Kim Tae-han:

    [Fuck off.]
