by CherryPark Dong-sik glanced around the house. It was so vast that it took a while just to go from one end to the other. It was the biggest house he’d ever lived in. No, maybe the orphanage was slightly bigger. Well, the fact of the matter was that dozens of children lived there together, so that didn’t count.
He stopped in front of Kim Jun-han’s room. After knocking twice, he opened the door to find an immaculately organized bedroom. Park Dong-sik placed the bracelet he’d received as a gift on the bedside table. Though the box was scratched because of Kim Tae-han, the bracelet was practically brand-new.
“Live well, Kim Jun-han. You were really my ideal type.”
Despite that cold personality of yours. The suits looked killer on you, you were handsome, had a great body, big dick too, haah. If I’d known it would end like this, I should’ve fucked more. Where else would I find someone like you? No, wait. With Lee Hee-soo’s face, it might be possible. The problem is guys like that aren’t common.
Park Dong-sik clicked his tongue regretfully and headed to his dressing room. He took out a large bag and organized items from the safe. While sorting what items to throw away and what to take, footsteps approached and Kim Yoon-ah appeared.
“Mr. Lee, I’m here.”
“Oh, you’re here.” After waving, Kim Yoon-ah came and sat next to him.
“Is there anything I can help you with?”
Looking around, Park Dong-sik picked up the card key box from Kim Tae-han and handed it over.
“Could you leave this at Kim Tae-han’s quarters?”
“What is this…?”
“Kim Tae-han’s sincerity.”
“Pardon?”
Confused, the other woman belatedly noticed the gun in the travel bag and her eyes grew wide.
“M-Mr. Lee! That’s—!”
Park Dong-sik held up the gun, showing her the front and back.
“How is it? Nice, right?”
“Is it real?”
“Of course. Want to see? It’s loaded too.”
“My goodness. Where did you get this?”
“From somewhere. Some bastard who’s dead now.”
Leaving Kim Yoon-ah speechless with shock, Park Dong-sik packed a 50-don gold necklace and several flashy patterned shirts. Now that there’s no one to criticize my clothes, I can wear whatever I want. As he hummed happily, Kim Yoon-ah’s expression grew serious.
“Mr. Lee. Are you really…okay?”
“Me? I’m perfectly fine.”
Park Dong-sik deliberately grinned, showing all of his teeth. “See? I’m super excited, right?”
He seemed to be so exceedingly excited this frightened her even more. Kim Yoon-ah carefully continued her questions.
“Um…does Mr. Kim know?”
Park Dong-sik nodded his head.
“We talked yesterday, and I cleanly delivered the papers this morning.”
“I mean, about going to the hospital…”
“I told him. Just didn’t say it was today.”
Kim Yoon-ah’s mouth fell open in surprise.
“W-Will it be okay?”
“Don’t worry. Everything will work out. Just trust me.”
“Mr. Lee…”
“Yes?”
“Honestly, I’m scared…”
While comforting the anxious Kim Yoon-ah, Park Dong-sik closed the travel bag.
“Let’s hurry. Looking at the sky now, it’s going to snow.”
Kim Yoon-ah nodded with mixed feelings. While she went to leave the card key at Kim Tae-han’s quarters, Park Dong-sik came down with the luggage. After loading it in the car trunk, he looked at the house with an odd feeling. It didn’t feel like this when he ran away from the orphanage.
Looking toward the main house, Madam Song’s car wasn’t visible, and the staff were busy cleaning out front. After about 10 minutes, Kim Yoon-ah returned from Kim Tae-han’s quarters and turned around in the driver’s seat.
“A staff member said there was a collision accident at the entrance this morning.”
“Accident?”
“Yes. Between Mr. Kim’s car and Mr. Kim Tae-han’s car.”
Park Dong-sik furrowed his brow. “What?”
“You know what’s even more surprising? Someone saw Kim Tae-han hit them on purpose. And they both went to work anyway…”
Don’t tell me they fought this morning. Park Dong-sik shook his head in disgust. Ah, whatever, whatever. Whether the brothers tear each other’s heads off or shoot each other, it has nothing to do with me. I just need to go my own way. Let’s just think about that. As he made this firm resolution and looked out the window, not long after they departed, just as Park Dong-sik had said, snow began to fall from the sky one flake at a time.

[Why that expression? You were hoping it wasn’t your baby anyway.]
“Mr. Kim?”
“…”
“Mr. Kim?”
Ah. Kim Jun-han belatedly came to his senses and looked up. In front of him, Executive Director Nam Ik-hyun was watching him through silver-rimmed glasses.
“Are you worried about something?”
“No. Where were we?”
“About Kim Tae-han. Someone posted anonymously on the company bulletin board. We deleted it quickly, but those who needed to know already do. I asked Division Director Seo, and apparently, he’s doing his work well without any tricks. So I was thinking of putting him in charge of this project, and wanted to know your thoughts.”
Another executive cut in.
“Isn’t it too early? Even if he’s capable, he’s still just a regular employee. People will just call it nepotism.”
“What about giving him a position? Let’s be honest, everyone knows he’s the chairman’s son. Who would dare question it if he became a division director tomorrow morning?”
While the conversation continued, everyone kept glancing at Kim Jun-han. The Kim Tae-han talk was just a prelude, the atmosphere suggested they wanted to bring up something difficult. They pressured Director Lee with their eyes, who reluctantly spoke up.
“Sir. I know this is inappropriate, but there have been rumors recently…”
As Director Lee hedged, Kim Jun-han cut straight to the point.
“You all seem curious, so I’ll tell you, I’m getting divorced. The news will break soon. I’ve already instructed the legal and PR teams through Secretary Choi, so the executives won’t need to worry about it.”
“Haha, what a surprise! As expected of someone young, you’re so decisive. We had no other intentions. We just wanted to be prepared rather than learning about it through the media.”
Their expressions seemed rather pleased. Stories about Kim Jun-han’s marriage had spread, with rumors suggesting a divorce wouldn’t be surprising. There had been concerns about their lack of children. Meanwhile, some executives had speculated about the youngest son of the Young-hwa Group as a potential match for Kim Jun-han. For them, it wasn’t bad, after all, wasn’t this how major corporations connected—through marriage?
“If we’re done, let’s end here for today. I’ll think about Kim Tae-han’s situation and let you know at the next meeting. Thank you for your hard work.”
Everyone stood up, bowed, and left the conference room. In the empty room, Kim Jun-han leaned back in his chair and closed his eyes tiredly. Perhaps due to lack of sleep, a headache was coming on. Thinking about the cause of this headache, he ultimately arrived at one person.
[Why that expression? You were hoping it wasn’t your baby anyway.]
“What kind of expression did I make…”
Just then, the door burst open and he heard footsteps approaching. Opening his eyes, he found Kim Tae-han right in front of him. His face was flushed red as if he’d been running this whole time, and Secretary Choi followed behind him.
“You can’t just barge in. I’ve told you several times—”
Kim Tae-han shoved him away. “Fuck off, let go!” Kim Jun-han watched this while running his tongue across his front teeth. Not content with wrecking someone’s car this morning, now he was barging into meeting rooms. If the executives had seen this, they wouldn’t have brought up giving him positions.
“Destroying my car wasn’t enough to satisfy you?”
Kim Tae-han breathed roughly and bit down on his lower lip hard.
“Brother, did you know?”
“Know what?”
“That Hee-soo is at the hospital right now?!”
He was about to ask what nonsense this was when something flashed through his mind. Kim Jun-han calmly took out his phone and called the hospital. When a nurse answered, he pressed his temple with his thumb.
“This is Kim Jun-han. I need to speak with Dr. Lee Ki-woong.”
[Dr. Lee is in surgery.]
“What kind of surgery?”
[Ah…I’m afraid we can’t disclose that information…]
The awkwardness was palpable, and Kim Jun-han tried to suppress his emotions as much as possible.
“Is the patient Lee Hee-soo?”
[…]
After a pause, the nurse’s apologetic voice came through. Kim Jun-han clenched his teeth and hung up. In front of him, Kim Tae-han looked about ready to grab his collar with reddened eyes.
“What did they say? Is he there?”
Instead of answering, Kim Jun-han stood up and walked past Kim Tae-han.
“Don’t follow me. If you leave the company at this hour, you’ll be fired immediately, understand?”
Even so, Kim Tae-han followed him outside the conference room and grabbed his shoulder.
“I’m asking you, is it Hee-soo?!”
Kim Jun-han maintained his cold expression.
“Yes. It is.”
Kim Tae-han’s lower lip trembled. Fuck. Finally…
“Why are you going there?! What right do you have to go there when you threaten him to get the surgery!”
“We’re not divorced yet, and I’m Hee-soo’s legal guardian. Do you need any more reasons?”
“I want to go too.”
“Don’t come. I warned you. I let the morning incident slide, but push me further and I won’t be so lenient. This isn’t a joke.”
As Kim Jun-han revealed killing intent in his eyes, Kim Tae-han ground his teeth and pushed back. Just then, two employees approached from the opposite direction. Kim Jun-han turned away without hesitation, and when Kim Tae-han tried to follow, Secretary Choi blocked his path.
“Move.”
“I’d like to, but…”
Secretary Choi gestured to someone. Soon, two security guards approached and stood close on either side of Kim Tae-han. He laughed incredulously at being treated like a criminal. Secretary Choi bowed respectfully.
“I apologize. Please understand my position.”
“Yeah, I understand. You’re Kim Jun-han’s loyal dog. You have to do what you’re told.”
Kim Tae-han pretended to give up, then suddenly turned and ran toward the emergency exit. The security guards were caught off guard and scrambled to chase after him. Watching this scene, Secretary Choi massaged his neck and groaned.
“Ah. I seriously want to quit…”
He sighed deeply and took out his phone to contact security on the lower floor.
“Tell them to detain Kim Tae-han somehow.”
Then he hurriedly walked toward the elevator, hoping with all his heart that Kim Tae-han wouldn’t manage to escape the building.
