Chapter 27: The Appearance of the Lover. The Scumbag Gets What He Deserves.

As soon as An Yue stepped out of the elevator, he was shocked by the scene before him.

He saw He Zhifan pressed against the door, looking as though he had previously resisted with some intensity. His pajamas were in disarray, with one of the buttons undone, revealing a small portion of his collarbone. But now, instead of resisting, it seemed as if his mind had been muddled by the kisses, his body still displaying a bit of childish petulance as he intermittently punched and scratched, like he was playfully protesting.

The man, on the other hand, seemed completely unaffected by He Zhifan’s weak struggles, still kissing him passionately and roughly as if he intended to conquer the “angry cat” in front of him with his kisses.

The entire scene looked like a poorly made melodramatic show, the kind where the main plotline is a cheesy chase with lines like “Let me explain” and “I don’t want to hear it, I don’t want to hear it.”

“I haven’t settled the score with you yet, so why are you running?” The man said with a gruff tone in the midst of the kiss.

“Thief shouting to catch the thief,”[1] He Zhifan retorted angrily and aggrieved, “Am I supposed to stay here waiting for your girlfriend to catch us in the act?” He turned his head to avoid the man’s kiss, and once again started pushing him away.

The man froze for a moment. The fierce look on his face softened, and the initial aggressive tone evaporated, replaced by helplessness as he became flustered: “No, listen to me, I don’t have a girlfriend…”

“Liar, I don’t want to listen.” He Zhifan responded, delivering the classic line.

The two of them continued their entangled and chaotic struggle.

“…” What the hell is going on?

An Yue watched in shock as the situation unfolded, only snapping back to reality when he heard Ye Qinghe’s puzzled voice.

After Ye Qinghe stepped out of the elevator, he didn’t understand why An Yue had stopped. He followed and stopped as well. He listened carefully to the sounds ahead. At first, there were just faint noises of clothes rustling and some suppressed gasps, and then he heard a few low, hoarse exchanges that were both displeased and ambiguous. Ye Qinghe furrowed his brows. “Who’s at the door? Zhifan?”

This one voice startled the other three people in the room.

An Yue was the first to react. He rushed forward, pushing the tall man aside, pulling He Zhifan behind him to shield him. He shouted at the man, “What are you doing?”

He Zhifan, still dazed and disoriented from being kissed senseless and also suffering from a sore waist, staggered back as An Yue yanked him. He almost fell, but luckily Ye Qinghe was right there, and He Zhifan half-hugged him, leaning on his arm as he called out in grievance, “Ye Zi…”

The man standing at the door, seeing He Zhifan being pulled away by the suddenly appearing person, grew increasingly displeased. When he saw He Zhifan cling to Ye Qinghe and call him “Ye Zi,” his anger flared like a lion whose tail had been stepped on, raging inside. Especially since He Zhifan’s attitude was completely different from when he had just been so confrontational with him. The man felt like his mind had exploded in a series of reactions.

“Come here,” his face darkened as he spoke in a suppressed tone to He Zhifan, “Come back with me.”

“I don’t want to,” came the immediate refusal.

“Is this Shao Ye?” Ye Qinghe had met Shao Ye a few times, and based on their conversation just now, he guessed this must be He Zhifan’s crush of the past few years. “Do you want to come in and sit? We can talk inside.”

An Yue, standing to the side, rolled his eyes. “You know who this guy is and you want to invite him in? He’s here to pry at your corner! He was just pinning down your boyfriend to kiss him! You’ve got a green hat on your head! What’s there to talk to someone like him about?” The more An Yue thought about it, the angrier he became, and he couldn’t help but shoot a glare at He Zhifan for his infidelity.

He Zhifan, feeling like the victim, remained silent.

“No need,” Shao Ye said, not even looking at Ye Qinghe. His gaze remained fixed on He Zhifan. “I’m taking him with me. No need to sit down.” His tone was firm. “Ten minutes. Change your clothes and get your stuff.”

“I said I don’t want to!” He Zhifan’s eyes reddened with anger. Shao Ye was always so overbearing, so unreasonable. He had once been captivated by this proud and arrogant genius, but now, in this moment, it only made him feel inexplicably aggrieved.

“You don’t want to?” Shao Ye was furious. He glared at He Zhifan, who was still clinging to the man’s arm, and pointed at Ye Qinghe, scolding, “You’re rejecting me for him? What does he have that I don’t? He…” Only at that moment did Shao Ye finally look at Ye Qinghe properly and notice how odd it was that Ye Qinghe was holding a white cane. Shao Ye froze for a moment, but his harsh words had already slipped out: “He’s… blind?” The tone of his voice rose, and more than an insult, it carried a sense of shock.

Shao Ye had seen Ye Qinghe before and knew that he was the person He Zhifan had been thinking about for so long. He Zhifan always called Ye Qinghe his good friend and affectionately referred to him as “Ye Zi.” But every time Shao Ye saw those peach blossom eyes, he felt inexplicably annoyed. He kept trying to reel someone in, yet the naive He Zhifan was always unguarded, always returning to find him.

Shao Ye furrowed his brows and thought to himself, half a year ago, when he saw Ye Qinghe, he wasn’t blind!

He was about to ask, “What happened to you?” when An Yue suddenly yelled at him, “You have no manners! What are you saying…” An Yue couldn’t bring himself to say the word “blind,” feeling it was too hurtful. “Chairman Ye’s eyes are temporarily inconvenient, but you don’t need to bully him like this. Besides, Mr. He is Chairman Ye’s boyfriend. You’re here making a scene with him. Isn’t that a bit too much…?”

Before An Yue could finish, the other three people in the room spoke up at once: “Boyfriend?” He Zhifan and Ye Qinghe were surprised, while Shao Ye was furious.

“I knew you and Ye Qinghe weren’t just friends.”

    “Wait, you’re saying who’s Zhifan’s boyfriend?”

Shao Ye and Ye Qinghe spoke at the same time, one indignantly, the other confused.

“I’m just friends with Ye Zi. Stop slandering me. I’m not like you, already having a partner and still messing around with others…” He Zhifan, feeling wronged, added angrily, “I don’t have a boyfriend.”

When Shao Ye heard He Zhifan clarify that Ye Qinghe was not his boyfriend, he relaxed a little. But hearing He Zhifan say he had no boyfriend reignited his anger.

“Who says you don’t have a boyfriend?” Shao Ye said harshly. “I’m your boyfriend. If you dare sleep with someone else, try it.”

Someone gasped in disbelief, shocked that Shao Ye was being so blunt.

“Sleep with someone else?” Ye Qinghe lightly repeated the highly suggestive words, his lips curling into a smile. Even though he couldn’t see at the moment, he could feel the heat radiating from his friend beside him, purely from embarrassment.

Thirty years of being single, a virgin, and now being made to face something so bold by someone he had secretly adored for so long—was this just a case of him being embarrassed and angry? No wonder Shao Ye had come straight to him after getting off the plane.

“You, you guys, slept together? Then, what about Chairman Ye?” An Yue was stunned, looking at the tangled situation between the three men. He just wanted to say, “This circle is truly chaotic.”

“Hey, hey, hey, Zhifan is not my boyfriend. We are as pure as can be. Teacher An, please don’t make it sound like something it’s not,” Ye Qinghe quickly distanced himself from He Zhifan, raising his arm in surrender. “Shao Ye, I don’t know what misunderstanding you have, but Zhifan and I are just childhood friends. Our relationship is as close as brothers. Don’t think anything else. If you have something to say, we can talk inside.”

“I don’t have anything to say to him,” He Zhifan turned to Shao Ye, his attitude firm. “It was wrong for me to sleep with you, I shouldn’t have slept with someone’s boyfriend. Don’t worry, I won’t keep bothering you or tell your girlfriend. That night was just a drunken accident, I’ll forget it soon, so you don’t need to worry. But I suggest you behave yourself in the future. Yingcheng is a good girl. Don’t keep hurting her. I’m done. You can go now.”

Ye Qinghe and An Yue were once again stunned. This time, even Ye Qinghe couldn’t help but think, “This circle is truly chaotic.”

“You have a girlfriend?” Ye Qinghe frowned and pulled his friend behind him.
