Hello everyone, SleepyTime here. Some of you might recognize this novel from Wook’s Teahouse before the whole site was taken down, and yes, I’m the original translator who uploaded this novel there. At first, I’m just going to let this novel gather dust in my drive since I don’t have the time to upload 90++ chapters, but due to some of my readers that still wanted to read this novel, I decided to post it in SoR. Hope you all enjoy it, thank you.
Chapter 40
by SleepyTime“Meow.”
“Mr. Park Haon, what’s that?”
Haon awkwardly smiled at Director Han’s question. Director Han’s expression stiffened as he spotted the Cait-sith in Haon’s arms. Director Han didn’t hide his discomfort and confusion.
“Well, that’s… a Cait-sith, my…”
“It’s mine.”
As Haon hesitated, Cha Yugeon intervened. Surprised, Haon looked at Cha Yugeon, who casually grabbed the Cait-sith by the scruff of its neck and took it away.
“Meow!”
“Mr. Cha Yugeon, keeping pets in the center is prohibited.”
“Good for me.”
What’s good about it, sheesh!
Haon glared at Cha Yugeon with narrowed eyes. But Cha Yugeon continued undeterred.
“Pets are not allowed. But it’s not an animal, it’s a monster.”
“…Mr. Cha Yugeon.”
“There’s no rule against having a monster as pet, right?”
“…”
Director Han closed his eyes with a tired face. Haon thought there was no one better than Cha Yugeon to pushing through. Besides, he had a talent for making things seem reasonable.
Haon cheered for Cha Yugeon, who was holding the Cait-sith with a triumphant expression.
“…This time, we can’t help it, but it won’t be allowed in the future.”
“Got it.”
Eventually, Cha Yugeon obtained permission to keep the Cait-sith. Haon inwardly praised Cha Yugeon’s persuasive skills while rolling his tongue at his stubbornness.
Indeed, you can’t beat the unbeatable logic of a crazy person!
“I’ll send the relevant documents by the end of the week. Please sign and return them.”
“Got it.”
In response to Director Han’s increasingly tired words, Cha Yugeon replied brazenly. Haon felt sorry for Director Han, but there was nothing he could do. If Cha Yugeon hadn’t been so stubborn, he might not have been able to raise the Cait-sith he had already brought in.
“I’ll go then. Park Haon, let’s go.”
“Huh? Uh, okay.”
Haon followed Cha Yugeon. Only after being far away from Director Han did Cha Yugeon give the Cait-sith to Haon. The Cait-sith had a dissatisfied look on its face and keeps meowing as if it was protesting.
Anyway, Haon was relieved that he could bring the Cait-sith along. He wanted to quickly get to the dorm and think of a name for the Cait-sith and wanting to tickle its belly. If they fell asleep together, it would be the cherry on top.
“Sorry for letting that guy bother you.”
“What?”
“Did you hear it?”
“Loud and clear.”
It was a whisper to comfort Cait-sith, but Cha Yugeon’s hearing was unnecessarily good. Luckily, Cha Yugeon didn’t seem really upset, muttering, “this is ridiculous”.
“Where are we going?”
“Back to the dorm.”
In response to Cha Yugeon’s question, Haon responded as if he was asking something so obvious. Cha Yugeon then tilted his head for a moment and then opened his lips.
“Your dorm?”
“Huh? Of course it’s my dorm, should I go somewhere else?”
“Ok, got it.”
Cha Yugeon responded calmly and walked with Haon. Only then did Haon feel something strange. Cha Yugeon’s dorm was on the opposite side of Haon’s. So it was strange to keep walking together.
“Why do you come this way?”
“You said you’re going to your dorm.”
“Uh, right. But why are you coming?”
Haon narrowed his eyes, as Cha Yugeon’s answer didn’t make sense. He couldn’t understand why he was following him.
“We agreed to train.”
“Ah…!”
Haon seemed momentarily stunned at the word ‘train’ before belatedly exclaimed. Right, they had agreed to train. He had completely forgotten about it. It was understandable, considering how much was going on. He couldn’t understand why the day seemed so long.
“Um… now that it’s been brought up… do we really have to train today, Cha Yugeon?”
In a hesitant tone, Haon carefully asked. Cha Yugeon’s eyes narrowed as he looked at Haon with a gaze mixed with discontent. With a slight gulp, Haon mustered the courage to gauge Cha Yugeon’s reaction.
“It’s so tiring… besides, it’s already past dinner time. We need to shower, eat, and after eating, it’ll be nighttime… so, it would be better to rest…”
Although he rambled on, there was no fault in his words. It was already past 8 p.m. If they showered and ate dinner now, it would easily be 9 or 10 p.m. Of course, Haon had no intention of eating dinner, so if he just took a shower, his day’s schedule would be over, but there was no need to mention that.
“…Yeah, it’s getting late.”
“Yeah, it is.”
Haon quickly agreed with Cha Yugeon’s muttering. It seemed like it was too late even for him to train. Haon stared straight at Cha Yugeon, waiting to say goodbye, and they could train another day.
“Night is a good time to do it.”
“Huh…?”
What kind of things are good to do at night…?
With a bewildered expression, Haon blinked his large eyes. It felt like something significant was being omitted, but he attributed it to his mood.
No, it had to be his mood.
“Then take a shower and see me at the restaurant.”
“Uh? today?”
Haon was startled by Cha Yugeon’s words and asked back. Even though he was so tired, he wanted to spend some quality time with the Cait-sith!
All of his plans were in danger of going astray.
“When do you plan to do it then?”
“Well… we can always set another date… Do we really have to train today when we’re this tired…?”
Haon asked in a hesitant voice in response to Cha Yugeon’s persistent questioning. In truth, there was no need to grovel like this, but he had also helped him to keep the Cait-sith, and regardless, he was in a position where he was breaking a promise, so he couldn’t help but be cautious.
By speaking cautiously like this, Haon hoped that Cha Yugeon would understand.
“So you don’t want to do it today?”
“Not that I don’t want to, it would be better to do it another day, that’s what I mean… And could you please stop saying ‘do it’? Attach a direct object. It sounds weird without it.”
“Anyway, you don’t want to do it today.”
“I said not to say ‘do it’. …Well, forget it. Just say it however you want. Anyway, there’s tomorrow and the day after tomorrow…”
Cha Yugeon glared at Haon with a sullen expression. Without giving Haon a chance to reply, he turned on his heels. Unfortunately, his irritation was clearly visible. Haon, feeling like he couldn’t just let Cha Yugeon go like this, urgently called out to him.
“Cha Yugeon, do you understand what I’m saying? You’re not upset, right?”
“Who’s upset?”
“Well, that’s a relief… Let’s just go back to the dorm.”
‘Definitely mad, that’s what he was saying.’
Haon inwardly cursed while outwardly speaking with the most affectionate tone possible. It was, of course, out of fear of repercussions.
“We’re not going to the dorm.”
“Then where are we going?”
“To Director Han.”
“Why Director Han?”
Haon felt uneasy at the sudden mention of Director Han. Somehow, it didn’t seem like good news.
“I’m going to tell him we’re not keeping that.”
“Hey!”
This immature bastard…!
Haon unintentionally raised his voice in frustration. Cha Yugeon stopped in his tracks and turned around. His awkward posture reflected his discomfort. Haon thought that Cha Yugeon threatening him with something that had already ended was extremely cruel and childish.
Still, he had to admit that he had no choice but to do whatever the guy wanted.
“Fine, I get it. Let’s do it today.”
“…”
“Why no response? Don’t you want to?”
“…Let’s eat together too.”
“Fine, I got it.”
Was he haunted by a ghost from a past life who couldn’t get a meal, why is he so obsessed with food?
Haon forced himself to swallow the heated words on the tip of his tongue. He didn’t want to upset this incredibly immature bastard any further. If he got even more upset now, he might turn the entire place upside down and create a scene. He didn’t want that kind of trouble.
“Okay, I’ll meet you at the restaurant after I freshen up.”
In the end, Haon went along with what Cha Yugeon wanted. Despite cursing internally, he pretended otherwise. While keeping an eye on him, Cha Yugeon still had that sullen expression, but he appeared to be in a better mood than before.
Indeed, Cha Yugeon turned out to be even more immature than Haon had thought.
“Got it.”
Haon hastened his pace towards the dorm, shivering. He just wanted to finish everything as quickly as possible. However, his futile hope was soon proven wrong.
