    Chapter Index

Nearly an hour later, Chu Cheng and Yu Siting took the elevator to the upper floors of a bustling commercial building.

“Director Jin is still in a meeting, but he said you’re welcome to wait here for a bit,” said the assistant, a beautiful woman in a professional outfit, leading them to an office.

As the double doors swung open, they were greeted by a wall of eight floor-to-ceiling windows, casting the entire room in a deep, tranquil blue beneath the dusk sky.

The office decor was understated yet refined—mainly warm browns and soft greys—projecting an air of composure and restraint.

Chu Cheng nodded and stepped inside.
“Perfect. He’s not here—it won’t interfere with my performance.”

“Pardon? What did you say?” The assistant blinked, a little puzzled, though her polite smile didn’t waver.

The boss’s nephew was no stranger to the company—he’d dropped by in a rush plenty of times before to see Director Jin. But today, something felt different.

Chu Cheng pointed to a corner surveillance camera and asked,
“Who can access the footage from that?”

The assistant thought for a moment before replying,
“Oh—that camera in the director’s office is only viewable by him.”

“Then can you livestream it to him?”

“Yes… if I switch the feed manually.”

    Chu Cheng smiled, clearly pleased.
    “Then do it. Right now.”

“Uhh… okay.” The assistant hesitantly agreed, then added,
“Would you like something to drink? I can bring it over.”

“No need, don’t trouble yourself,” Chu Cheng waved her off.
    “We’ll help ourselves.”

“If you need anything, just press the call button on the desk,” she said politely, giving them a nod before closing the door and leaving.

Chu Cheng followed behind her and casually locked the door from the inside.

    Click.
A soft sound, but in the quiet office, it echoed clearly.

Yu Siting glanced up at the sound, curious about what little scheme this sly fox was up to.
“You said you came here to ‘make a withdrawal.’ What did you mean by that?”

Chu Cheng was fiddling with the tea set on a nearby shelf.

His uncle hadn’t been drinking tea lately, it seemed. The little box of Longjing sitting there was actually a gift from Chu Cheng himself, bought with his first few months of salary.

Chu Cheng poured a cup of water for Yu Siting, handed it over, then sat beside him and replied,
“Director Jin offered me thirty million to get into a relationship. I have to bring back a one-minute kiss to cash in.”

    Yu Siting froze.
Born into wealth himself, even he had never heard of a parent literally paying their child to fall in love.

“Dating me is worth that much?”

“Mmm~” Chu Cheng twirled his finger playfully, eyes narrowing with mischief.
    “Not just with Teacher Yu.”

    Meaning… it could’ve been anyone?

Yu Siting’s expression darkened, his voice dipping with warning.
    “Chu Cheng. Say that again.”

Chu Cheng’s eyes curved into charming crescents as he coaxed softly,
“But I didn’t go off and date anyone else for that thirty million~”

Now that was more like it.

Yu Siting withdrew his dangerous glare.

Chu Cheng shifted positions, straddling the sofa with his back facing Yu Siting, gazing out at the dazzling cityscape through the vast wall of glass.

While tilting his head toward the camera, he adjusted his posture and muttered to himself,
“Feels like the image quality isn’t great… should be fine if I borrow a lap.”

    “You’re surprisingly skilled at this.”

    “Hehe—hey, hey, hey!”

Watching him get so serious about his “performance,” Yu Siting couldn’t help but find it adorable. With a swift tug, he yanked Chu Cheng down into his lap and added,
“But there’s no need to fake anything. I’m not your rented boyfriend.”

In a multimedia conference room not far from the office, Director Jin was attentively following his video meeting.

His assistant gave a polite knock at the door but didn’t wait for a response before entering, placing a dark roast coffee on a coaster at his desk.

    Thank you.

Director Jin barely made a sound, just moved his lips slightly. He was just about to return his focus to the meeting when he noticed his assistant setting up a tablet next to his hand.

    What’s this?

Director Jin glanced over and saw two people sitting closely together in his office. One was his nephew, and the other… looked familiar. Wasn’t that colleague of his with the last name Yu?

Why are you showing me this?

He looked to his assistant, puzzled, then lifted the coffee to his lips for a sip to clear his mind.

But before the assistant could say a word, the two figures on screen suddenly leaned into a passionate kiss.

    Pffffft—cough cough!
Director Jin suffered a direct visual assault without any warning.

Just as Director Jin was about to take a sip of coffee, half of it went down the wrong pipe and the other half spilled onto his fingers, scalding him so badly he had to set the cup down at once. The dark brown liquid stained his tailored suit and expensive wristwatch.

    “Boss, I’m so sorry!”
The young assistant, now feeling like an accomplice to disaster, hurried to grab tissues and help him clean up.

But Jin Heng had no mind for coffee stains. He slammed his laptop shut with a bang, suppressing the sudden blaze of fury rising in his chest, and gritted out,
    “Where’s my phone?!”

    Buzz—

Chu Cheng felt his phone vibrate in his pocket. He fished it out, still kneeling between Yu Siting’s legs, and answered the call.

The moment the line connected, a furious voice roared through the speaker:
“Do you believe I’ll come over right now and break your legs?!”

Chu Cheng furrowed his brow and held the phone a bit farther away, then casually glanced up and asked,
“Guess who he’s talking to? Enemy forces estimated to arrive in five seconds—Teacher Yu, you still have time to flee.”

Yu Siting was still tracing slow circles on Chu Cheng’s back, chuckling under his breath.
“I think the one he wants to break is your legs. I’m just a disarmed accomplice.”

Right on cue, hurried footsteps echoed in the hallway, followed by a loud thud as the office door was kicked.

    “Open up!”

Chu Cheng winced and rubbed his ears.
This scene… really did feel like they’d just been caught cheating.

Also an uncle himself, Yu Siting could somewhat relate. He gave his boyfriend’s waist a light squeeze and reminded him,
“Tone it down a bit. Don’t overdo the sass.”

Chu Cheng obediently got up and went to unlock the door.

The moment the solid wood doors creaked open, Director Jin stormed in with two long strides, immediately grabbing Chu Cheng by the collar in a very hands-on display of family discipline.

“You came here tonight just to show off in front of me, didn’t you?!”

“Hey—Uncle!” Chu Cheng was ready for this and quickly dodged two steps back.

Jin Heng took a deep breath, trying to collect himself. His eyes darted into the room where Yu Siting had already stood and was nodding politely in greeting.

Chu Cheng, still full of mischief, was straightening his collar while mumbling,
“If you wanted to back out of the deal, just say so. No need to get physical.”

That one comment fanned the flames again. Jin Heng let out a cold laugh and said,
“Fine. Do you remember what I said?”

    Chu Cheng clicked his tongue.
“Bring him in front of you.”

“Exactly. So the footage from the security cameras doesn’t count.”
Director Jin sat down in the plush chair, all calm and composed.
    “Kiss. Again. Now.”

Chu Cheng had only been bold earlier because it was just a live feed—being physically present now made him feel a bit embarrassed. He mumbled,
    “…Let’s not.”

Director Jin suddenly slapped the desk, booming a single word like a general issuing a command:
    “Kiss!”

The sudden outburst startled Chu Cheng so much his shoulders jumped.
But truth be told, despite his uncle’s usual scary demeanor, Chu Cheng had never really been afraid of him. Even now, facing Jin Heng’s thunderous expression, he dared to step closer.

Adjusting his tone, Chu Cheng leaned in with a sweet smile and coaxed,
    “Uncle~ Are you mad?”

Chairman Jin had always been helpless against this kind of behavior from him. Completely at a loss, he let out a long sigh. “Is this how you make a scene?”

Chu Cheng drawled, “I’m not making a scene.”

    His uncle’s expression subtly changed.

Initially, he’d been angry because he thought his nephew had made up this entire story just to mess with him. But now, it seemed the matter was far more complicated than he’d assumed.

Seeing him lost in thought, Chu Cheng continued, “You’re the one who said it—even fake ones are worth watching. Now I’m showing you the real thing, and you still don’t believe it?”

Chairman Jin took a moment to digest everything, his face now wiped clean of any emotion. Then, he picked up the internal phone.

The assistant’s voice came from the other end: “Boss, is there something you need?”

Chairman Jin replied in a tone of desolation, “Contact a charity for me. I want to donate everything tomorrow.”

The assistant, caught completely off guard, said, “Huh?”

“What are you doing?” Chu Cheng laughed and reached out to press the end-call button.

His uncle gave him a cold look. “The Jin family and the Chu family are both about to die out. Might as well give something back to society.”

“That’s something to worry about after you pass away,” Chu Cheng said with a grin, leaning on the table and shortening the distance between them. “Besides, you haven’t fulfilled the promise you made me yet.”

Jin Heng was so exasperated, he nearly laughed. The emotion in his deep-set eyes was incredibly complex.

But Chu Cheng gently placed his hand over his uncle’s and asked softly, “Uncle, is it really that important—to continue the family line? You didn’t have children for the Jin family either, and Grandpa never said anything about that.”

“……” Jin Heng adored his nephew immensely, but when it came to the old master of the Jin family, the comparison simply didn’t hold.

So whenever Chu Cheng brought that man up as his trump card, no one could win against him.

“Grandpa said he believed children should be born from deep love between partners. He didn’t blame you—because you simply never met someone like that in your life.” Chu Cheng paused a second or two, then added,

    “But I did.”

Chairman Jin’s emotions began to settle.

All this time, Yu Siting hadn’t spoken. Now, he stepped forward and said in a low, steady voice, “Mr. Jin, aside from not being able to have children, there is nothing our relationship lacks.”

Chairman Jin answered without thinking, “He already has everything!”

“Although I’ve teased Chu Cheng before about marrying into a wealthy family,” he continued, “the truth is—he doesn’t need to. No matter what mistakes he might’ve made, no matter what regrets he carries, it doesn’t matter. In the future, everything that belongs to the Jin and Chu families will be his.”

Then he turned to Yu Siting, his gaze once again sharp as a blade, every word echoing with authority: “Mr. Yu, can you give him anything extra—anything I can’t give him?”

“Uncle…” Chu Cheng hadn’t expected Chairman Jin to be so forceful. The man had never spoken to him in such an intense tone.

Yu Siting, however, remained calm—he was always the composed, pressure-resistant type.

“I’m an uncle too,” he said. “I have a nephew I’ve raised since childhood, like my own son. So I understand how Mr. Jin must feel. I’m sorry. If I must answer your question, it may offend you.”

Chairman Jin spread his hands solemnly, silently saying: Go ahead, I’m listening.

What the hell are these two doing?

Chu Cheng had just managed to calm one side, and now he rushed to pull on Teacher Yu’s sleeve—only to be pulled into an embrace instead.

Yu Siting cupped his face and kissed him devoutly.

    Chu Cheng: “!”

Help. He’s really doing it. You’re actually kissing me in front of him?!

The cool press of lips stunned Chu Cheng, his eyes going wide in shock. He couldn’t tell if he should push the man away on principle, or lean into the kiss the way his heart wanted to.

    Chairman Jin: “……”

This kid really had guts—but he was also incredibly irritating.

No one knew how long that kiss had lasted. No one was keeping track—certainly not counting whether it lasted a full minute.

Especially not Chu Cheng, who, from the lack of oxygen due to his brain working overtime, had to lean on Yu Siting’s arm and cough a few times.

Weren’t the two of you supposed to be fighting each other? Why does it feel like I’m the one being ganged up on here? Who’s the real victim now?

Yu Siting turned back toward Chairman Jin, who was seated upright in his chair. “What I can promise him is exactly what you want him to experience. If you could give him that, you wouldn’t have had to offer thirty million.”

Chairman Jin looked at his nephew, whose hand was tightly gripping Yu Siting’s sleeve. He was silent for a moment—visibly softening—but his tone remained firm: “I’ll be watching you.”

Chu Cheng finally caught his breath and leaned close to whisper to Teacher Yu, “What happened to being restrained?”

Yu Siting replied calmly, “I told you to be restrained. The more you lean toward me, the more pissed off he gets.”

    Chu Cheng: “……”

Men and their damned need to win. Why waste it on another man?

At last, the tension in the office began to ease. Chu Cheng stood behind the cushy chair, symbolically massaging his uncle’s shoulders, while sneakily curling his finger at someone.

“You sure I said thirty million?” Chairman Jin looked up at the ceiling with a sigh, clearly unhappy with the situation—and even more unhappy about spending the money.

    Chu Cheng answered cheerfully, “Mmhmm.”

Chairman Jin closed his eyes with a deep sigh. Thinking about the coffee he hadn’t even managed to drink earlier, he tapped his long fingers against the empty tea cup. “At least let me feel like I’m getting my money’s worth.”

    “You got it.”

Chu Cheng caught the cue immediately, quickly picked up the kettle, and brewed a pot of aged pu’er tea for his uncle. He poured a bit too much, and the cup became too hot to hold comfortably.

Without missing a beat, Yu Siting raised his arm, took the teacup, and personally brought it over to the desk. His voice was courteous and gentle as he switched to a more respectful form of address: “Uncle, have some tea.”

Even if Chairman Jin wanted to find fault, he couldn’t—there was simply nothing to criticize. All he could do was accept the tea with a deeply displeased expression.

Watching this touching scene of “loving uncle, respectful son-in-law,” Chu Cheng subtly gave Teacher Yu a big thumbs up.

    Night slowly deepened and darkened.

Chairman Jin finally saw off the two troublesome young men. Leaning back into his soft office chair, he closed his eyes for a moment of peace.

“Boss.” The assistant, who hadn’t gotten off work yet, walked over and noticed the coffee stain on his sleeve. She softly asked, “Would you like me to bring you a clean shirt?”

“No need.” Jin Heng turned his chair halfway around. “I’m about to head home anyway.”

The assistant saw the complex expression on his face—a mixture of exhaustion and contentment—and, recalling the events of the day, cautiously asked, “Are you alright?”

“I’m fine,” Chairman Jin replied as he stood up with a sigh. “The kid’s grown up. I can’t control him anymore.”

The assistant chuckled, “Then I’ll have the driver take you home.”

Chairman Jin nodded, straightening his back and adjusting his suit—still neat and crisp aside from the stained cuff. He added, “One more thing. Take care of it for me.”

    “Of course. What is it?”

“Transfer money to that little brat.”
