DEB 15
by SleepyTimeIt’s surprisingly peaceful.
After fainting from penalties and driving away the three S-rank hunters, there were no unwelcome visitors in the hospital room after waking up and conversing with Huigang.
The monitoring guards stationed outside the door remained, but knowing they would disappear in a week made the situation more tolerable.
Compared to the three S-rank hunters, they weren’t that uncomfortable to be around.
They were more like fairies.
Huiyun tapped on his laptop, satisfied with the peace he had regained, even going as far as to laugh. He hadn’t had much interest in the hunter industry originally, but he got involved in this incident and wanted to gather proper information about the three hunters who had visited him.
First, the leader of the guild Huigang joined, Blue Flame.
When he searched for Kwon Jiwook’s name, his registered personal information popped up.
“He’s twenty-seven years old? He’s quite young for a guild leader. His ability is the ice attribute and records… records?”
Huiyun scrolled down with a puzzled expression, inadvertently raising his voice. He closed her mouth, worried that the guards outside the door might hear, but his surprised gazes didn’t go away.
Records, huh?
No wonder he insisted that there was no mistake in his memory. If that was his ability, he had no choice but to trust what he had seen.
This isn’t going to end easily.
Judging by how relentlessly Jiwook questioned him, it wasn’t in his nature to let him off with just one round of questioning.
Jiwook also seemed to have a perfectionist streak, so if there was something wrong with his ability, he would try to dig into it no matter what.
Huiyun pressed his forehead, feeling the headache coming on.
Why did he had to pick him up?
He picked up someone that was very troublesome. Huiyun cursed and berated himself for such a stupid action.
Huiyun suddenly realized something and cursed at the system.
Isn’t the fact that he followed the instructions and moved according to the system guidance that started all of this problem?
“That damn system.”
Cursing the system out of habit, Huiyun complained when the golden system window appeared, asking why he was cursing at them who just sitting there silently.
When he gave them an annoyed look, the system displayed an irritating awakening suggestion, stating that the probability of fewer annoying system pop-ups would be 100% if he awakened now.
Now he could dismiss that as spam, Huiyun sighed and returned his attention to the laptop screen. He wanted to learn more about Jiwook’s ability, but all he could find on the internet was that he could remember everything he had seen.
There were some rumors that Jiwook could manipulate other people’s memories. However, there was no evidence or data to support it. Nevertheless, knowing was better than not knowing, so Huiyun ingrained it into his mind and thought of Huigang.
“What if he messes with Huigang’s memories?”
The most feared madman among madmen is the one who stops at nothing. In Huiyun’s view, Jiwook was the type who fell into that category, so he gnawed at his nails and ruffled his hair.
The fact that his older brother is so outstanding is also problematic.
Why did he have to be so talented and get accepted into Blue Flame so easily?
Sure he was happy hen he heard that his older brother had been accepted to the second-ranking guild in the country… but still… this was troublesome. He decided to shelved that thought for later and changed the search keyword.
Huiyun didn’t know his name, so he assumed he was the leader of the Ash Guild and the red-haired man he saw in the hospital room appeared in his search.
He didn’t seem to be that photogenic.
He was quite handsome, but the photo didn’t fully capture his gentle aura.
“The name is Hong Juan… twenty-six years old? This person is younger.”
Based on his behavior that day, Huiyun thought he was much younger than that, but that made it a little creepier.
If the 2nd rank guild in Korea was Blue Flame, the 1st rank was Ash led by Hong Juan.
He thought it was amazing that someone at the age of 27 was leading the second-ranked guild, but to think that someone a year younger than Jiwook was leading the first-ranked guild.
He didn’t know if the future of Korea was bright or dark.
“It seemed like he was more dangerous.”
It sent shivers down his spine that someone like this was considered stronger than Jiwook.
Could it be that strength in the hunter world is proportional to their eccentricity?
If that were the case, he understood why Huigang awakened as a B-rank hunter instead of an A-rank.
To become an S-rank, everyone had to be crazy like that, right?
It was a moment of relief that his brother was normal, but also a moment of regret that he couldn’t showcase his talents more as a hunter.
“His ability is as I thought, flame and explosion… What’s this? His nickname is Ash?”
Wasn’t Ash the name of the guild?
…Ah, now that he thought about it, Jiwook did call him Ash. At the time, he was so preoccupied that he didn’t even consider looking into it, so he sighed softly and searched for related information. He learned that the reason for his nickname being Ash was because of his given name.
“He’s been going around saying his real name is Ash? He’s definitely not in his right mind.”
Seeing Hong Juan’s name with the meaning of the three Chinese characters attached made it even more obvious that Ash wasn’t his real name. As Huiyun read through the interview content, his expression darkened, realizing that he was someone who shouldn’t be approached closely, someone who could veer off in unexpected directions.
“Both Kwon Jiwook and Hong Juan… they’re all dangerous individuals, how did I end up with those kinds of people, seriously…”
If he could turn back time, he would have slapped his past self and forcibly dragged him out of the gate. Huiyun regretfully skimmed through the interview with little interest, then stopped scrolling.
“‘Meanwhile, Ash mentioned during an interview ten years ago that he has been consistently looking for someone,’ it says…”
Reflexively, scenes flashed through his mind like a flickering lamp.
The first time they met, Jiwook muttering something, and then the conversation they had when they met again in the hospital room with the other two. It was clearly a conversation between people looking for someone.
Considering how Jiwook mistook him for someone else and questioned him when he used his ability, it seemed like he emitted a similar scent to the person they were looking for….
No way.
“Yasha?”
The thought that they were looking for Yasha crossed his mind. But soon he realized it was too far-fetched and chuckled at his own absurd speculation.
Why would they be looking for Yasha?
How could they remember the name of someone who died over ten thousand years ago?
That era wasn’t even recorded in documents or left as a legend.
People living in this era didn’t even know that the first Great Heavenly Demon War had occurred, let alone the existence of Yasha, who died to end that war.
It didn’t make sense.
He scolded himself for indulging in such thoughts.
If it wasn’t Yasha, then who were they looking for?
What scent could he possibly emit that would attract such famous hunters to his hospital room?
The question lingered, but there was no immediate way to find out. Disheartened, Huiyun gave up searching for additional information about Hong Juan’s target and changed the search keywords.
Again, not remembering the name, he searched for Necromancer, and a picture of a man with black long hair appeared.
As he moved the mouse, thinking it was easy, he soon doubted his eyes.
“His name is Nameless….”
How can a person’s name be Nameless?
There wasn’t even a surname. It was clearly a name without a surname, most likely a pseudonym, but it was unsettling to see it posted on the official website.
Huiyun searched for reactions to this.
When he searched for “How can a person’s name be Nameless,” it seemed like he wasn’t the only one thinking that way.
They intentionally concealed the information.
It might actually be that his name was Nameless, or it might really be unknown, but the probability was slim.
When he tried to confirm Nameless family relationship, there was no information available.
Unlike the information about Jiwook and Juan during their interview, there was really nothing about Nameless.
Apart from the name, age, and ability, nothing was revealed.
“He’s the same age as Hong Juan if he’s twenty-six… I wonder if he doesn’t know anything either?”
Since the three of them were together and the topic of their conversation seemed to be the same, it seemed like Jiwook and Nameless were also looking for the same person as Hong Juan.
Considering their close relationship, they might know quite a bit about Nameless.
He looked into his ability.
As widely known, it was listed as Necromancer.
Curious for more detailed information, he entered a site associated with necromancers.
Bang bang bang bang!
A loud knocking sounds echoed through the room. Along with the sound, the sliding door shook loudly.
Bang bang bang bang!
The door shook even louder than before, as if urging him to open it quickly. Huiyun stared at the closed door with a slightly stiff expression.
Who is it?
It wasn’t Huigang; there was no reason for him to knock so violently. The same went for the nurses.
What are the guards doing?
According to Huigang, they were supposed to be monitoring and protecting him. Then they should have intervened when thugs showed up, but apart from the rough knocking, it was eerily quiet outside the door.
Could they have been dealt with?
If it was this quiet, either they had left or they had already been taken care of. Sensing his surroundings, Huiyun felt the presence of three people outside the door.
They’ve been taken care of!
Huiyun quickly prepared himself, clutching the blanket.
Should he use his ability? No. With the guards present, he had to be careful. If they smelt the distinct smell when he used his it would be trouble for him.
But he couldn’t just sit back and do nothing.
He was stuck between hard places.
Bang bang bang bang!
He hoped they would just leave, but they seemed to have no intention of doing so. Hesitating, Huiyun finally spoke up.
“W-who is it?”
He deliberately softened his voice, pretending to be a helpless and innocent twenty-year-old.
As he stumbled over his words, the door opened halfway, and a man stuck his head through the gap.
A man with dark red hair.
His fiery eyes seemed to pierce through people.
“Hey. We meet again?”
The owner of the ferocious knocking was Ash.
No, it was Hong Juan.
