Yue Qi had been coming to the tea house to drink tea and play with cats for quite a while. He knew that Omega rarely lingered alone in the tea house late at night, so he had gradually let his guard down. When he left the house today, his sensitivity period had just ended, so he didn’t bother to apply any isolating patches. He hadn’t expected to encounter such a sudden situation.
Wasn’t Su Qing a Beta? How could he suddenly be in heat?
Yue Qi carefully assessed Su Qing’s scent and confirmed that he was an Omega. But if he was an Omega, why hadn’t there been any signs of it in his daily behavior? He didn’t give off a single trace of scent.
Yue Qi was completely confused.
Meanwhile, Su Qing was in an even greater panic. He never imagined that he would go into heat in a public place. No, to be more precise, he had never imagined that he would even go into heat at all.
A thirty-seven-year-old Omega, confronted with his own cycle, was as flustered as a newly differentiated teenager. He hid behind the bar, completely at a loss for what to do. What was even more frightening was that he wasn’t alone in the tea house. There was still an Alpha here—an imposing and well-built Alpha.
If something were to happen today, as an Omega in heat without any preventive measures, and alone in a room with an Alpha in the middle of the night, Su Qing would have to take full responsibility. He had triggered his own heat, and he would bear the blame for tempting the Alpha, possibly even facing legal consequences if the Alpha decided to sue.
Su Qing was in a state of extreme panic, but in stark contrast to the chaotic situation, his scent was calm.
The aroma of Jin Xuan Oolong tea was peaceful, soothing, and tranquil. It carried just a hint of gentle, yearning desire.
If Su Qing had calmed down, he would have been quite pleased with his own scent. Unfortunately, he didn’t have that luxury. The first time he smelled his own scent, it almost scared him to death.
This was also the first time Yue Qi had smelled Su Qing’s scent. It was the first time he had encountered the scent of an Omega in heat and not felt an overwhelming urge to lose control.
It wasn’t that Yue Qi was repulsed by Su Qing’s scent, nor that Su Qing’s scent didn’t arouse his desire. On the contrary, he found Su Qing’s fragrance very pleasing, and his own desires were stirred.
What was strange, though, was that despite his desire being awakened, Yue Qi, as an Alpha, did not lose control. He was still able to maintain his rationality, even with such a powerful scent surrounding him. In fact, he found it rather comfortable. The sensation was like a mild electric current, as though he were submerged in warm spring water, gently caressed by soothing waves.
“Don’t come any closer.” Su Qing, hiding behind the bar, heard Yue Qi’s footsteps approaching and couldn’t help but urgently shout. His voice was hoarse, mixed with panting, and his tone, though stern, was laced with panic.
Yue Qi stopped in his tracks and did not approach the bar. His footsteps paused for two seconds before he walked toward the door of the tea house.
Su Qing pricked up his ears to listen to Yue Qi’s footsteps. He heard the sound growing fainter as it moved toward the door, and his tightly wound heart finally relaxed slightly.
He’s leaving. Don’t be afraid. He’s leaving. Su Qing’s hand pressed against his chest as he comforted himself to calm down.
Click. The door was locked. Then Yue Qi walked around the tea house, locking all the windows.
“…?” Not only did the Alpha not leave, but he locked the door and windows? Su Qing’s palm, which had been resting on his chest, tightened unconsciously, creasing his shirt. He didn’t want to believe that someone as gentlemanly as Yue Qi would lose control and turn into a reckless Alpha, driven mad by his scent. For a moment, Su Qing felt unmoored, as though he were floating in midair, tossed by the wind.
Su Qing shrank further into himself. He wanted to defend himself, to resist, to do something to prove that he wasn’t intentionally tempting him. He picked up a broken piece of porcelain from the floor. The sharp edge immediately cut into his palm, and the pain made him more alert. He bit his lip tightly, preventing any weak moans from escaping his throat.
After locking the doors and windows, Yue Qi quickly returned to the sofa near the bookcase, which was at a distance from the bar. Though he hadn’t been driven to madness by Su Qing’s scent, he knew he was continuously releasing the fragrance of osmanthus. He feared that if things continued like this, the two scents would only stir each other further, and the consequences would be unimaginable.
He took a syringe from his bag and injected himself first.
“Su Qing,” Yue Qi called out, “Do you have any suppressants?”
After a few breaths, a hoarse, muffled voice came from the other side, “No. I don’t, I don’t have any suppressants. I don’t know.” Su Qing’s words were intermittent and difficult to get out, but he still managed to add, “I’m sorry.”
“I have a universal suppressant. I’ll have Jasmine bring it to you,” Yue Qi shouted toward the bar where Su Qing was hidden. “Can you administer it yourself?”
“…Yes.” Su Qing replied.
Yue Qi placed the suppressant into Jasmine’s collar and gently nudged her a few times. “Go, go to your master, go to Su Qing.”
Su Qing, on the other end, was also calling out, “Jasmine, Jasmine, come here, be good, come to me…” He collapsed onto the ground, stretching his hand to grab the cabinet door, opening it to take out a can of cat food he had stored inside. He tapped it on the floor.
Jasmine was a very docile and intelligent cat. Hearing her master’s call and the tapping of the can, she tilted her head and meowed at Yue Qi, then jumped off the table and ran toward the bar. She dashed straight toward Su Qing, sitting down in front of him.
Su Qing trembled as he took the slender medicine box that was attached to Jasmine’s collar and retrieved the syringe inside. His eyes, too wet to see clearly, blurred as he stared at the instructions on the outside of the box for a long time. Finally, after a pause, he hesitantly asked, “Where do I inject this?” His breathing was almost louder than his voice, and Yue Qi strained to make out his words, finally hearing him say, “I don’t know how to find a vein…”
“….” Yue Qi froze for a moment. “This is a muscle injection, you don’t need to find a vein. Just inject it into a fleshy area.”
“….” Su Qing fell silent for a few seconds, then awkwardly asked, “A fleshy area… is that referring to my… butt?” There was the rustling of clothing as Su Qing moved.
Accompanying the rustling sound, Yue Qi couldn’t help but think about Su Qing’s fleshy bottom. When Su Qing pitifully said, “I can’t see my…” he was interrupted sharply by Yue Qi.
“Your arm. You can inject it into the muscle on your arm, about three finger widths below your shoulder.” Yue Qi grit his teeth but tried to keep his tone as gentle as possible.
“Oh.” Su Qing seemed to understand. The suggestive rustling stopped.
There was silence for a moment as they both waited for the suppressant to take effect, dispersing the pheromones.
Aside from Jasmine, the other cats, Cha Cha and Da Huang, had gathered around Su Qing, meowing. Only Hua Dian stayed by Yue Qi’s side, looking at the sweaty human with a strange tilt of her head.
“You’re all so well-behaved. I’m fine now, don’t worry.” Su Qing reached out with his uninjured left hand to pet the cats, softly reassuring them.
Yue Qi, now beginning to recover, smiled gently. “They’re probably just after the canned food.”
“….” Su Qing saw Da Huang already pawing at the can. The self-appointed caretaker felt a little embarrassed by his own assumptions. “Uh, yeah, seems like it.”
“Hahaha.” Yue Qi laughed happily.
Cutthroat, all of you heartless creatures. Su Qing cursed inwardly, then reluctantly got up to open the can.
