FGCT CH 13
by AstroAmid everyone’s envious looks, Gou Fugui went back to his own tent and enjoyed a fresh seafood feast.
Yes, it’s a seafood feast. ‘Beauty’ Fugui didn’t only have a tuna, he also had a bunch of scallops and a few dozens of shrimps in his bag.
Additionally, there was a big crab hidden in the pocket next to his armpit that came from the sea otter bloodline.
If he put these seafood in a basin and wash them with water. Then put them into a small stove that can burn alcohol and cook them together with half a bowl of white rice. It will turn into a bowl of fragrant seafood porridge!
When it’s done, add some Lao Gan Ma[1]. So delicious——
The delicious scent of food was so strong, that even though he tightly closed the door of his small tent, he still couldn’t stop the curious onlookers from walking around his tent, trying to sneak a peek inside.
One of these curious onlookers was Song Sanchuan, the soldier from two tents away. This top-tier national soldier, accurately determined what Guo Fugui was eating after simply walking by Guo Fugui’s tent and taking a whiff.
Then he dragged himself to his commander’s tent, No. 224, and sighed deeply with a face full of worry. “…Boss, the guy next door is having seafood porridge, and sushi! And the worst part is, he’s even got Lao Gan Ma to go with it!! And we’re here stuck with seafood instant noodles…”
“I’ve never been this miserable since I joined the army.”
He was a specially recruited technical soldier, a highly talented individual. Yet he had fallen so low as to be reduced to eating instant noodles.
At this moment, Qin Feng was eating a bowl of braised beef noodles. He turned to comfort the youngest soldier in his squad, “It’s okay, next time we’ll remember to bring some money and jewels with us.”
The main issue was that they hadn’t expected to land in the ocean the moment they arrived, almost all their equipment were lost in the sea.
Xie Tianlang chewed on a piece of noodle, sneering, “Pathetic. If he can go catch fish, why can’t you? Have you forgotten all the training?”
“He is just an ordinary person, but he can drag back a longfin tuna. How can you, a special forces soldier lose to him?”
Song Sanchuan almost choked on his instant noodles, he then looked at Xie Tianlang with a look of fear and disbelief.
But Xie Tianlang showed no sign of joking. “Now that we have a stable base, we need to go out in the next few days to search for useful equipment and food.”
“We have to move to find another place to settle down once this place gets flooded.”
Xie Tianlang looked at Song Sanchuan. “We will split into two teams. One team will look for food such as fruits and vegetables. While the other team will search for a boat.”
“Have you decided the teams yet?”
Song Sanchuan forced himself to swallow the instant noodles, and after a long pause, he asked, “For food, can we use instant noodles?”
Xie Tianlang rejected him without any expression. “It has to be fresh seafood, bigger than tuna.”
Song Sanchuan: “……” What kind of strange competitiveness is this, Captain Xie?
“If so then I want to go search for a boat.”
He could start by using the computer to locate stores in the city that sell small boats. Although the places might be a bit far, and they might not find the target right away. It was still easier than… catching a one-meter-long tuna with his bare hands!
Xie Tianlang didn’t seem at all surprised by his choice. “Alright, you three will form one team. You have six days to find a small motorboat, two portable kayaks, and fuel.”
“I’ll handle the food for the next few days.”
Qin Feng and Lu Hu nodded seriously, while Song Sanchuan nodded too, but with a look on his face that clearly said, I am ready to kneel before you.
So, when you said “Split into teams”, you meant that you’re a team and the rest of us are in another team. Right?
Then, unable to hold back, Song Sanchuan asked without thinking, “Captain Xie, what are you planning to catch?”
Upon hearing this, Xie Tianlang slowly broke into a smile.
“Something that has to be bigger than that kid’s.”
Qin Feng and the other two: “……”
Sometimes they could understand why the higher-ups wanted Captain Xie to go home and retire.
Ordinary people just couldn’t handle him.
Perhaps it was because of Guo Fugui’s successful fishing. On the third day of sheltering at the gymnasium’s safe zone, more and more people were preparing to go out and fish.
Though the storm was still raging, the atmosphere inside the gymnasium was heavy and boring. Some young people who thought they were good swimmers and had strong physiques started packing up early in the morning, ready to head out.
Among these people, some were clever enough to somehow get their hands on fishing tools like nets and rods, while others wore water safety gear that were strapped to their arms or draped around their necks. At a glance, they even looked somewhat professional.
However, their actions left the managers of the gymnasium’s safe zone feeling helpless. For the safety of everyone, they strongly discouraged fishing in the heavy rain.
But their safe zone wasn’t a prison; they couldn’t forcibly restrict the citizens’ freedom. Besides, the reasons these people gave were quite reasonable:
“We’re out of money! We can’t even buy clothes or decent food, so we have to go out and catch something!”
“We’re going crazy in here, and the brat next door is constantly screaming and yelling. If we can’t even go outside to get some fresh air, we might just have to teach that kid a lesson!”
Those who live close wants to go back to check on the situation and bring some valuables along the way.
Everyone’s desire to leave was so strong that in the end, the gymnasium’s managers had no choice but to let them go. However, they made a disclaimer and reminder over the loudspeakers.
It said: You can go out, but if you get injured or die, the safe zone takes no responsibility and won’t send anyone to search for you. Please be cautious if you decide to leave.
After the loudspeakers repeated the message five times, the gatekeeper finally opened the door at the leader’s signal. He looked at the group of people rushing out like ducks, then, with the wisdom of experience, shook his head and sighed:
“They’ll learn the hard way. Fish aren’t that easy to catch.”
The doorman then saw a spirited, high-ponytailed beauty with a small black bag on his back—a picture of wealth and grace.
The corner of his mouth twitched.
This peculiar person was an exception!
After the beauty walked away, Xie Tianlang led his three team members out again.
The doorman: “……”
So what if they’re tall? I still don’t believe these people can catch a fish that big!!
On the third day of sheltering in the safe zone, the water outside the gymnasium had risen over two meters. The floodwater had not only completely submerged all the vehicles along the road, but even the trees have their trunks submerged.
Perhaps what was once called floodwater could no longer be called that—it had likely become part of the ocean by now.
Descending the thirty-five steps from the high platform of the gym, one would reach the murky, flowing water. People who had left the gymnasium began to enter the water in various ways, swimming and moving about.
Xie Tianlang stood on the steps, watching Gou Fugui swim gracefully through the water. He squinted his eyes in amusement.
Song Sanchuan, noticing his boss’s strange and somewhat flirtatious smile, couldn’t help but ask in curiosity, “Boss, who are you looking at?”
This time, Xie Tianlang didn’t ignore him or mock him. Instead, he tilted his chin up and said, “Look at that person over there with long hair, swimming with a backpack—doesn’t he look like my Yuan Yuan?”
Song Sanchuan followed his captain’s gaze and saw the long-haired youth swimming gracefully in the water. He tried hard not to make a sarcastic remark.
But in the end, he failed.
“…Boss, I know you really like that otter, but can you please stop thinking everyone looks like Yuan Yuan? No matter how smart that otter is, it can’t become a spirit, and it definitely can’t turn into a beauty, okay?”
This isn’t Journey to the West! It’s not Strange Stories from a Chinese Studio!
Xie Tianlang sneered and immediately jumped into the water with a splash.
“The gates of the apocalypse have descended.”
“You’re still so narrow-minded.”
Song Sanchuan was so choked by these words that he struggled for a long time before finally managing to say:
“Even if the otter could become a spirit, it still wouldn’t look like that! Captain Xie, you should give up!”
This time, Xie Tianlang’s figure finally paused, as if he had been struck by a knife.
Meanwhile, the otter-like humanoid, Fugui, with his swimming skills, had already went ahead of the others who had entered the water, swiftly swimming across an entire street.
Today, he plan to go to the convenience store and buy a map of Nanhai City, because he decided to explore further.
Yesterday evening, he had only swum through two nearby streets to catch some food. However, there hadn’t been enough time to gather other useful supplies or reserve food.
Today, he planned to stock up on more places, while also looking for a rubber boat, life jackets, some common medicines, canned food, and various tools.
His bloodline talent skill, “Portable Pocket,” was still at level one, but the space could hold up to three basketballs size worth of items.
And the volume of three basketballs, when filled with high-energy food or medicine, could hold quite a lot.
The only problem was, he didn’t know when it would level up…
With that in mind, Gou Fugui followed the map toward a large shopping mall three streets ahead. It was a five-story mall, and on the first floor was a famous chain supermarket.
Gou Fugui decided to gather all the supplies he needed directly from the supermarket.
He quickly arrived at the mall. After entering through the mall’s entrance, which had been damaged by the large waves, he found that the first floor was almost entirely submerged in seawater, with only about half a meter of space remaining between the water and the ceiling.
For ordinary people, this made the first-floor supermarket an area that was impossible to enter. But for a beauty like Fugui who can tranform, this was no problem at all!
Fugui scanned the water’s surface, and not seeing anyone else around, he began to strip. The last stubborn part of him was keeping on a pair of small shorts. He stuffed his shirt and pants into his backpack, then took out the large mesh bag he had already prepared. Finally, he hid his backpack in an almost-closed storage locker, completing his preparations.
He surfaced, took a deep breath, and then dived again!
Reaching out his right hand, he gently tapped his glowing left wrist. In an instant, the long-haired, naked beauty’s form shrank, and then… the soft, round otter, holding the mesh bag, appeared, using one paw to rub its face.
Now, it was time to go all out~
The otter Fugui, swam comfortably into the supermarket. He dipped his small head below the water and immediately saw all kinds of items floating in the store.
Most of the floating items were clothes, vacuum-packed snacks, and light, soft products. The heavier vegetables, fruits, and metal items, aside from those scattered by the currents, were surprisingly still mostly in place.
Fugui quickly swam around, carefully sorting through the items he needed, stuffing them into his small pocket and mesh bag.
He grabbed two cans of powdered milk, two packs of honey meat dumplings, a bundle of dry toilet paper that hadn’t been soaked, and even grabbed a case of soda! He stuffed canned meats, sausages, chips, candies, and dried fruits into his bag. Oh, that long fruit knife at the bottom looked really nice! Might as well grab the sheath and put that in too!
Fugui happily enjoyed his underwater shopping spree.
When he finally surfaced, he struggled a little as he was dragging a mesh bag three times the size of his round little body. There was a happy look on his otter face.
However, his smile quickly froze, and he couldn’t hold back an angry yelp.
“I….F*CK!!!”
Why is it you again?!!!
Xie Tianlang, the “wolf”, who had failed to catch any fish was now being chased by a ferocious fish, just stood there in silence.
After silently scanning the otter’s shocked face and the pile of chips, sausages, and soda in the otter’s little paws, Captain Xie let out a meaningful chuckle.
“Yuan Yuan! Long time no see. Want a hug from daddy?”
The little otter, Fugui, froze.
“Hug my ass! How are you still not eaten by a shark?!”
Author’s note:
Xie Tianlang: “I see my beloved Yuan Yuan again! It actually likes drinking soda and eating chips. Truly unique!”
Fugui: “……Howoldareyou[2]?! Why haven’t you been eaten by a fish yet?”
Ferocious fish: Thanks for the invitation, I’m on my way. I’ll be there in the next chapter next chapter.
TL note:
Beauty Fugui: Hug my ass!
Mr wolf: Sure 🙂
