FGCT CH34.1 Love fell off the horse (Not really)
by LuoBecause of the two unexpected “ying ying” sounds made by the humanoid whale Fugui at the end, what was originally a very imposing statement somehow took on a completely different tone.
It didn’t quite sound like mockery, nor did it carry the full force of a threat…
So after a moment of awkward silence, everyone stiffly changed the subject. The scrawny man naturally had no intention of actually performing a handstand while defecating. With a face flushed red, he silently shrank into the farthest corner of the lifeboat, hoping to disappear from everyone’s sight.
As for Fugui, though he still wanted to taunt the scrawny man a few more times, he was afraid that opening his mouth would result in another “ying ying.” Instead, he could only lift his chin haughtily and lower his eyelids, exuding an air of noble coldness and overwhelming power from every angle.
With both of them keeping quiet, the others found it easier to steer the conversation elsewhere.
“Thank you both so much for retrieving the machines. After we return, I’ll report everything truthfully, your efforts won’t go unrewarded,” the mission guy spoke up first, his face brimming with undisguised joy.
Not only would these two raw material synthesizers produce more survival spheres and save countless lives, but as the leader of this mission, his team’s success would also earn him some rewards. He couldn’t help but feel a sense of pride.
That said…
At this thought, the mission guy glanced at the aloof and majestic Whale Fugui, his face stinging slightly. When they first met, he had assumed this guy was just an arrogant piece of scrap metal who didn’t know his limits. Who could’ve guessed he’d turn out to be a diving legend?
The ancestors truly didn’t lie, you can’t judge a book by its cover.
Unlike the mission guy’s simple delight over the results, the others on the lifeboat were more curious about the retrieval method and process.
“How did you both manage to bring up machines? Wasn’t there only one in the factory? Are you sure these are the right ones?”
“Are you stupid? These obviously aren’t from the factory! Did you forget about the two machines in the underground storage?”
Of course, the one who asked hadn’t forgotten about the two machines in the underground warehouse. When he first learned of their existence, he had even fantasized about diving down there himself, retrieving them, and becoming the ultimate winner in life.
But that was just his imagination, wasn’t it? In such pitch-black, deep, and freezing seawater, even reaching the mechanical factory was an incredibly difficult feat. How could anyone possibly dive all the way to the underground warehouse and retrieve those two machines?
Some people, simply because they can’t do something themselves, refuse to believe that others can do it.
Moreover, he had a perfectly logical justification to gaslight himself: “Wait a minute, wasn’t the underground warehouse locked? The place was flooded, so there was no power to open the alloy doors. How did you two even get in? Don’t tell me you just rammed them open?!”
This reasoning was undeniably solid, and the guy who asked felt like he had just played his trump card. Even the eavesdropping onlookers agreed that this was a tough problem to explain.
Upon hearing this, Xie Tianlang raised his handsome brows slightly and chuckled but didn’t offer an explanation.
Meanwhile, the humanoid whale Fugui, who had been trying hard to keep his mouth shut, felt he could no longer hold back.
Hehe, I’m not gonna hide it from you. That door was rammed open by this daddy. Believe me, I could slap you flying to see Zhou Gong [1]with one hand. Do you believe me?
“We didn’t break the door open, ying. However, you saw that killer whale, right?”
“Are you saying that the killer whale smashed the doors open?!”
“Who else in the ocean could ram open two alloy doors besides that killer whale?” The beautiful Fugui turned to Xie Tianlang, exasperated. “You saw it too, ying ying! Say something, damn it ying!”
After managing three whole sentences, yet still failing to suppress the humiliating ying yings. The humanoid whale Fugui clamped his mouth shut furiously.
He even squeezed his eyes closed, refusing to acknowledge the weird looks everyone was giving him.
Then, he heard the unmistakably amused, laughter-laced voice of that damn werewolf: “The killer whale really did ram the doors open. It was like it came specifically to help me. It even ended up getting itself stuck in the doorway, too.”
“Right now, if you were to go back and look, you could still see those two mangled doors.”
Upon hearing this, everyone wore expressions of utter disbelief..
That killer whale first helped Zhou Hai and the others drive away the great white shark, then helped Xie Tianlang and the long-haired guy break open the door to the underground warehouse. It was almost as if……
“Is this a fairy tale world? Could that killer whale be… the legendary mermaid?”
“Have you ever seen a mermaid whose true form is a brawny killer whale?! Rather than a mermaid, I think it’s more likely to be a killer whale maiden!”
“Are you daydreaming? A snail maiden[2] can clean your house and do your laundry, but a killer whale maiden, do you want her to help you break down doors?!”
“Maybe it’s when I saved a little killer whale in the sea many years ago, and now it’s grown up and come back to repay the favor!”
And so, the bored people on the lifeboat began to argue over whether the killer whale was a spirit or a mermaid, a Western fairy tale or an Eastern legend.
The orca being discussed, a purebred human, put on a polite yet awkward fake smile, forcibly shut his mouth, and went to sit by himself with his eyes closed to rest.
Heh. A bunch of wishful thinkers.
How dare they covet daddy?!
Just then, Xie Tianlang walked over with a smile and sat down next to Fugui stating decisively, “I think they’re all wrong.”
Fugui raised an eyebrow but didn’t open his eyes.
“It might be a mixed-blood great spirit whose true form is an otter but has mastered the seventy-two transformations!”
The mixed-blood great spirit, Gou Fugui: “…”
From spirits to mixed-blood great demons, this wolf guy really went all out with his wild imagination just to find a plausible explanation for his multiple transformations.
Thinking this, Fugui couldn’t help but curl the corners of his mouth. In a way, he’d guessed half right, hadn’t he?
After the incident in the underground warehouse where they’d retrieved the machine, an unspoken understanding about Gou Fugui’s ability to transform into animals had developed between him and Xie Tianlang.
After all, that guy had had his eyes on him from the start, and with his excessive attentiveness and sharpness, it was impossible for him not to have noticed something during their journey together, as he keep probing him.
But even so, after Xie Tianlang called Gou Fugui “Yuanyuan” and Gou Fugui stubbornly denied it, Xie Tianlang hadn’t pressed the matter further.
On this point of not digging too deep, Fugui gave high marks to this perceptive and formidable guy.
With Xie Tianlang’s abilities, he could easily have created opportunities to force him to transform or find evidence proving he was those animals.
But whether it was the talking sea otter, the suddenly white-haired honey badger Fugui, or the life-saving, door-ramming orca, he had his suspicions. Yet, in the end, he accepted them all with a smile and kept silent.
Gou Fugui thought that this sense of “boundaries,” or even this “accepting” attitude, was the reason he was willing to travel with them instead of deciding to leave on his own.
Setting aside his occasionally crazy and cunning personality, Xie Tianlang possessed a sense of reliability and trustworthiness that made him hard for anyone to refuse——
Incredibly capable, calm and sharp, adaptable in advance and retreat, capable of both mischief and righteousness.
“Tch.”
No wonder the country treated him as a one-man team.
With someone like him, it was probably enough to hold off countless foes alone. Hah, this guy really isn’t human.
