    Chapter 19: An Irresistible Confession

Recently, Zhou Zheng had been extremely busy, working from dawn till dusk. He would come home so late at night that he feared waking Lu Fangchi with any noise, so he took his quilt and slept on the sofa in the living room. As a result, the two of them hardly crossed paths this week.

However, his pursuit of Lu Fangchi was relentless and highly conspicuous. For instance, at this very moment, as soon as Lu Fangchi turned on his computer, the screen went black. It violently trembled and a pop-up box appeared with a question—Do you like me?

    Yes or No.

Lu Fangchi moved the mouse cursor over “No,” but before he could click, the word playfully jumped upward, causing him to miss. He tried again, but “No” suddenly transformed into “Yes.” Lu Fangchi quickly pulled back, narrowly avoiding a click. The original “Yes” on the left had now switched to “No.” He moved the cursor to the left, but the option teasingly flipped back to “Yes.” In this manner, Lu Fangchi moved the mouse back and forth three times. No matter where he clicked, “No” would turn into “Yes.” It was like dealing with a highway robber.

After being toyed with for three rounds, Lu Fangchi grew somewhat annoyed. He moved the cursor to the top right and clicked the “X” to close the annoying pop-up. This time, the click was successful, but a new box appeared—Closing the window won’t change the fact that you like me~ This time, there was only a “Confirm” button.

Lu Fangchi was almost amused into anger. He clicked “Confirm,” but the damn pop-up question remained stubbornly in the center of the screen. He tried again to click “No,” but like a game of hide-and-seek, the box flickered and changed. No matter how many times he clicked “No,” it would always turn into “Yes.”

After realizing he had wasted a full five minutes on this ridiculous code, Lu Fangchi reluctantly clicked “Yes.”

The most infuriating part came next. A new window popped up—Knew you liked me~

What a nerve! Lu Fangchi was about to take out his phone and send a message of accusation to Zhou Zheng when the computer screen changed again. A Q-version cartoon puppy stepped out. Its chubby body was connected to its head, and it clumsily carried a gigantic heart. The heart fell right on top of the dog, and its expression immediately turned into an “x x,” with a pink tongue sticking out.

Lu Fangchi carefully observed it and recognized it as a Samoyed from its snowy white fur, pink ears, and silly smile. The Samoyed struggled like a flipped turtle, its paws flapping against the table, but it couldn’t escape from under the heart no matter how hard it tried. It was quite pathetic. Lu Fangchi clicked with the mouse, and the heart was pushed away. The silly dog was finally saved and sat up, wagging its tail non-stop at Lu Fangchi in front of the screen, with twinkling stars around it.

It was a desktop pet. Lu Fangchi pursed his lips, hesitated for a moment, but decided not to uninstall it. The little thing was kind of cute and could stay.

Lu Fangchi continued with his work as usual, but now with a desktop pet causing trouble. The silly dog would suddenly run across the desktop, leaving a trail of little paw prints, then crash into the corner with stars in its eyes. It was so clumsy that Lu Fangchi couldn’t help but smile. He moved the mouse to touch it, and the dog immediately perked up, wagging its tail and frolicking around the cursor.

If the computer screen stayed on one page for too long, the dog would pick up the mouse and run around randomly, prompting Lu Fangchi to take a break and not strain his eyes. When Lu Fangchi went to get a drink, he came back to see the screen filled with crooked hearts and little black lines coming out from the dog’s head. The dog was diligently dragging the pen to write “Zheng Zheng loves you.”

It was quite ugly. Lu Fangchi clicked the “X” with a face full of disdain, but the dog got angry and stamped its little legs on the screen. Lu Fangchi grabbed the dog’s leg with the mouse, and it fell flat on its face.

    Hahaha.

From time to time, it would also drag out an emoticon, all of which were cheesy, like “Hey, tiger oil!” “Oyster porridge you” “Hot model likes you” “Please date me!”

The text was greasy and awkward, but paired with the dog’s cute expression and wriggling body, it was incredibly sweet and adorable.

Lu Fangchi played with the dog all day, and he wasn’t sure if it was the code programmed by Zhou Zheng, but the dog’s behavior seemed to have his shadow. Now, when he took out his phone and saw the name “Xiao Zhou Zhou,” his mind automatically pictured a bouncing little dog.

At six o’clock, WeChat rang on time: Overtime.

    Lu Fangchi: Keep it up.

After replying to the message, he prepared to shut down the computer and pack up to leave work. Before shutting down, he frantically moved the mouse a few more times, making the silly dog stick its tongue out wildly before stopping. See you tomorrow. The computer screen went completely dark.

Lu Fangchi put on his coat, took the car keys, and headed towards the underground garage.

Before heading home, he stopped by a home-cooked restaurant for a meal. In the past, Lu Fangchi didn’t pay much attention to his taste buds, but over the past two months, his palate had been spoiled by Zhou Zheng’s cooking. Recently, with Zhou Zheng being extremely busy and having no time to cook, Lu Fangchi had to go out to find something to eat when he craved good food.

He ordered three dishes and a soup: garlic shrimp with vermicelli, salted egg yolk chicken wings, stir-fried wood ear mushrooms with Chinese yam, and seaweed egg drop soup.

After tasting a few bites, he found the food quite decent—light and not greasy. However, it was different from the taste of the dishes Zhou Zheng made. If he had to compare, Lu Fangchi felt that Zhou Zheng’s cooking suited his taste better.

“Ding-dong, ding-dong,” his phone buzzed twice.

Xiao Zhou Zhou: Don’t want to work anymore.

Xiao Zhou Zhou: Liu Zhu is not a good person!

Lu Fangchi, picturing the silly dog rolling on the ground, replied with a smile: ?

Xiao Zhou Zhou: He forgot to order food and wants to starve me to death.

    Lu Fangchi: What about now?

Xiao Zhou Zhou: Ordering now, but it’s not going to be delicious. After eating it for a few days, I’m getting tired of it. It all feels like technology. I want to eat home-cooked dishes.

Lu Fangchi’s gaze fell on the table in front of him, and his expression changed slightly.

Xiao Zhou Zhou: What about you, have you eaten?

Lu Fangchi took a photo and sent it over.

Xiao Zhou Zhou: It looks good, but I’m afraid you’re eating instant noodles again.

Lu Fangchi’s fingers tapped on the screen, typing and deleting. He switched to the navigation page and saw that it was only three kilometers to the company. Without traffic, it would take about ten minutes.

Lu Fangchi lowered his eyes and sent a message: How long will your food take to arrive?

    Xiao Zhou Zhou: Who knows.

Xiao Zhou Zhou: Forget it, I’ll eat instant noodles.

    Lu Fangchi: Wait.

    Xiao Zhou Zhou: ?

    Lu Fangchi: [Picture] [Picture] [Picture]

It was a series of dishes already plated and placed in a cabinet, ready to be picked up at any time.

Lu Fangchi: What do you want to eat? I’ll bring it to you.
