by InterstellarSnakeChapter 12: Need a New Bed
Lin Miao’s mouth slightly agape, he stood there stunned for a moment before suddenly reaching out to pull at the robe on Huo Yuchuan’s chest.
Huo Yuchuan: “……What are you doing?”
Lin Miao: “I’m checking if your conscience is black.”
He had merely been hiding from the teacher and was only a few minutes late, yet he was being deducted a hundred?
“I charge a hundred for sleeping with you one night, and if you deduct it, isn’t that just sleeping for free?!”
Huo Yuchuan remained unmoved. “Then don’t sleep.”
Lin Miao patted the soft bed beneath him. “I’m not insomniac; why shouldn’t I sleep?”
Huo Yuchuan: “Sleeping won’t earn you money.”
Annoyed, Lin Miao flipped over and lay on top of Huo Yuchuan. “No way, you can’t deduct it.”
Their body temperatures, separated only by thin layers of clothing, touched each other. Lin Miao heard Huo Yuchuan’s breathing seem to suddenly deepen, taking two deep breaths.
Lin Miao thought he might have hurt him and propped himself up to sit, straddling Huo Yuchuan’s waist.
Huo Yuchuan took another couple of breaths.
Lin Miao: “……Am I that heavy?” Pressing down so hard you can’t even catch your breath?
Huo Yuchuan, with an inscrutable expression, stared at him and said in a low voice, “Get off.”
Lin Miao bargained, “Then you won’t deduct my money.”
Huo Yuchuan looked at him. “Really not getting off?”
Lin Miao: “I’ll get off if you don’t deduct the money……”
Before he could finish, Huo Yuchuan suddenly raised his hand and pinned him to his chest. “Then sleep like this.”
Lin Miao: “……”
That night, Lin Miao lay against Huo Yuchuan’s chest, so angry he could hardly sleep.
How stingy could one be, preferring to be pressed by a living person rather than part with a hundred bucks?!
The next day, when Lin Miao woke up, Huo Yuchuan was already in the bathroom getting ready.
Lin Miao guessed he must have been uncomfortable from being pressed on all night, which was why he woke up so early.
Serves him right, Lin Miao thought as he hugged the blanket and turned over—this is what being stingy gets you.
During class that day, Lin Miao watched their math teacher, who was lecturing as usual at the podium, and quietly asked Jiang Leming beside him, “Do you think Mr. Yu likes working part-time?”
Jiang Leming replied, “Who likes working part-time?”
He glanced at the teacher and whispered, “He lectures so indifferently; he probably can’t wait for class to end.”
Lin Miao: “Maybe he doesn’t like teaching but likes……”
Jiang Leming: “Likes what?”
Lin Miao paused, thinking it wasn’t right to talk about someone’s privacy, and said, “I don’t know.”
Jiang Leming didn’t mind and lay on his desk, complaining in a low voice, “Why hasn’t class ended yet? I’m starving.”
Lin Miao was hungry too, but remembering the eight pounds of flesh he owed Huo Yuchuan, he sighed inwardly and decided to just have some vegetables for lunch.
His phone in his bag vibrated, and Lin Miao took it out to see a message from Huo Yuchuan.
“What time do you get out of class? Have Little Zheng pick you up.”
Lin Miao was puzzled. “Where to?”
Huo Yuchuan: “The company.”
Lin Miao replied blankly, “Why go to your company?”
Huo Yuchuan: “I need a nap.”
Lin Miao was taken aback. “You never used to nap.”
Huo Yuchuan: “I didn’t sleep well last night.”
Lin Miao thought for a moment. “Then give me back the hundred bucks.”
Huo Yuchuan: “Is money all you think about?”
Lin Miao: “What else?”
After a long while, Huo Yuchuan finally replied, “Fine.”
Lin Miao cheered for the regained hundred bucks. “Then I’ll come over after lunch.”
Huo Yuchuan: “Come to the company and eat here.”
Lin Miao: “No, there’s a cafeteria at school.”
Huo Yuchuan: “It’s free.”
Lin Miao: “Alright, I get out in fifteen minutes.”
Fifteen minutes later, Little Zheng arrived at the school entrance on time to pick up Lin Miao and take him to the company.
He went to park the car and asked Lin Miao to go upstairs first.
Lin Miao saw his dad at the entrance.
“Son?” Lin Jianxing, dressed in a security guard uniform, said cheerfully, “Why are you here?”
Lin Miao replied, “I’m here to see Huo Yuchuan.”
Lin Jianxing, upon hearing this, pulled him aside. “Perfect, you can ask Little Huo to give me back my bank card.”
Lin Miao was puzzled. “Why?”
Lin Jianxing: “I’ll keep it myself.”
“No way,” Lin Miao disagreed. If his dad had money, he’d probably be scammed out of it again.
“But you only give me five hundred a month,” Lin Jianxing complained. “It’s not even enough for my cigarettes.”
Lin Miao: “Then smoke less.”
“Just go get it back,” Lin Jianxing promised. “I won’t spend it carelessly.”
Lin Miao still said, “No way.”
“You……” Seeing that Lin Miao wouldn’t listen, Lin Jianxing huffed and put on a stern face as a security guard. “Going to see Mr. Huo? Did you make an appointment?”
Lin Miao: “He asked me to come.”
Lin Jianxing: “What proof do you have? There are plenty of scammers these days.”
Lin Miao showed him the message on his phone. “He sent it to me.”
Lin Jianxing: “I can’t read.”
Lin Miao: “……”
Lin Miao, annoyed, said, “I’ll have Huo Yuchuan deduct your wages!”
Lin Jianxing: “Go ahead, the money isn’t for me anyway.”
Lin Miao: “You!”
Fortunately, Little Zheng came back after parking the car and took Lin Miao upstairs.
As soon as Lin Miao entered Huo Yuchuan’s office, he smelled the aroma of food.
There were several takeout boxes on the table. Huo Yuchuan was sitting there looking at his phone. Only when Lin Miao came in did he start to unpack his chopsticks and say, “Eat.”
Lin Miao had an internal struggle, slowly moved over, and reluctantly stared at the boxes of fish and meat, saying with difficulty, “I’m on a diet, I’ll just have a little.”
“Suit yourself,” Huo Yuchuan seemed indifferent, but added, “If you don’t eat it, it’s just going to waste.”
Lin Miao couldn’t resist anymore—that was true, if he didn’t eat it, it would go to waste, and it was free.
He comforted himself by thinking he could diet tomorrow; it wouldn’t make a difference if he skipped one day.
With that thought, he suddenly felt at ease and ate even more deliciously.
Little Zheng came in and reported Huo Yuchuan’s schedule for the afternoon.
Lin Miao quietly ate his meal and heard Little Zheng mention at the end, “At seven in the evening, have dinner with Miss Zhao.”
Lin Miao looked up, picked up a piece of vegetable, and asked Huo Yuchuan, “Who’s Miss Zhao?”
Little Zheng replied on behalf of Huo Yuchuan, “She’s Mr. Huo’s blind date.”
Lin Miao was stunned and asked blankly, “Are you getting married?”
Huo Yuchuan replied indifferently, “It’s just a blind date.”
“Isn’t getting married the next step after a blind date?” Lin Miao chewed on the vegetable and slowly said, “Then are you going to get a new bed?”
Huo Yuchuan: “Why?”
Lin Miao: “The current bed won’t fit three people.”
Three people would be a bit cramped.
