HWAMB — Prologue
by BriePrologue
Shim Hyun-woo and Kang Eun-jae.
Both were born as the youngest children in wealthy families. Strangely enough, they each had older brothers with a big age gap as well.
Because their parents were close, they had been going in and out of each other’s houses since they were four years old.
Shim Hyun-woo was shy and easily embarrassed, so he didn’t get along well with kids his own age. But he got along just fine with the lively Eun-jae.
Then, when Eun-jae turned five, his father’s business went bankrupt, and they had to move far away.
He felt sad and disappointed about leaving his old kindergarten, but there was nothing he could do. What he hated most was parting ways with his closest friend, Shim Hyun-woo.
He and Hyun-woo hooked their pinkies together and promised. Even if they lived far apart, they would write letters.
Holding back tears, he made a vow to himself. He would make lots of new friends at his new kindergarten, so Hyun-woo wouldn’t have to worry!
And the very next day after moving, at the new kindergarten, Shim Hyun-woo was there.
“Hyun-woo, why are you here?”
“…I begged my dad.”
Back then, those tearful words were nothing but overwhelming and joyful. The two little buns forgot to even introduce themselves to the new kids and clung to each other in a tight embrace.
It felt like getting a surprise present for being good on Christmas.
Looking back, it’s kind of strange, but at the time, Eun-jae hugged Hyun-woo for the longest time, sniffling and bawling his eyes out. As the years went by, his father’s new business thankfully turned out well.
So through elementary and even middle school, Shim Hyun-woo was always by Eun-jae’s side.
The summer when they were fourteen.
During their first-year middle school gender test, when Eun-jae—who had always thought he was a beta—was diagnosed as an omega and ended up crying in a corner, Shim Hyun-woo stayed right there with him.
Even though it must have been troublesome, Hyun-woo made sure to give him his suppressants without fail.
And now at eighteen. We’re high school students.
“Ah, I’m saved! Thanks, Hyun-woo. Thanks to you, I managed to collect all the limited photocards.”
We’re still always together.
“…Don’t you ever get sick of it?”
“Nope. Not at all. Honestly, if you’re okay with it, I could watch it three more times.”
“I’m not okay with it. Let’s go eat.”
Being dragged along to the theater to see Kang Eun-jae’s favorite character had been happening for a long time.
Before he knew it, Eun-jae had turned into a full-blown nerd, and for all that time, Shim Hyun-woo never got tired of following him around.
Since Eun-jae had pulled him out early in the morning, Hyun-woo looked really tired. Well, after watching it three times in a row, anyone would be exhausted.
And Hyun-woo already had that scary, grim look on his face every day—because of him, it seemed to have gotten even worse.
Eun-jae had told him he didn’t have to come along if he didn’t like it, but even while cursing, Hyun-woo stubbornly tagged along.
When it was time to buy limited-edition art books, when they had to line up at dawn for merchandise—Hyun-woo always went with him, saying it would be too heavy otherwise.
“Right, you must be hungry. What do you want to eat?”
“Whatever you want.”
Hyun-woo’s answer was always the same. That usually meant he wanted pork cutlet. Since Hyun-woo rarely gave his own opinion, Eun-jae always interpreted it like this and made the decision for them.
“How about we go get that new pork cutlet place?”
“Eun-jae.”
“They just opened in Building B, and they say it melts in your mouth.”
“Kang Eun-jae.”
“Which way was it again? Hold on, stop talking for a sec, I’ll find it soon. Let’s see… ah, found it! Over there…”
“I like you.”
“If we just keep going straight… huh?”
Eighteen years old.
Into our calm and ordinary friendship, a giant meteor suddenly fell. On the way to eat pork cutlet, I ended up receiving a confession from my best friend.

Gong (Top): Shim Hyun-woo – Dominant Alpha. He’s secretly in love with his childhood friend, Eun-jae. No matter how clueless Eun-jae is, Hyun-woo tries everything to make a move. Normally, he’s blunt and sharp-tongued, but when it comes to Eun-jae, he’s endlessly gentle. He gets jealous easily and often acts childish whenever it involves Eun-jae.
Uke (Bottom): Kang Eun-jae – Dominant Omega. Top of the class. He only sees Hyun-woo as a close childhood friend. With his good personality, he’s very popular. Bright and cheerful but completely oblivious, so at first, when Hyun-woo confesses, he doesn’t even believe it. His absolute favorite is the digital idol group Love Pink, and he’s still passionately fangirling over them.
