Epilogue

This story began as something I started writing because I longed for comedy while writing the dark scenes in the previous work. I never imagined that it would become a complete story, so writing this epilogue and remembering my life in Australia at that time fills me with deep emotion.

At the plotting stage, the protagonist, Luke, was just supposed to make a fuss without doing anything, and the case was supposed to solve itself without his knowledge… a complete comedy.

However, I felt a strong urge to write about Alan’s mother, “Maria”, who was just a setting and a name at the time, and it eventually took that form.

I was constantly plagued by the fear of whether I could even portray a mother who had lost a child, but I now choose to believe that her episode needed to reach someone who would take up this story.

To everyone who left kind comments during the serialization on Kakuyomu, to everyone who sent wonderful illustrations, it is thanks to all of you that this story was able to reach its conclusion.

And to everyone who picked up this work, which is quite different in tone from the first, and read it to the end, thank you, thank you very much.

I hope that the life of everyone who has read this story will be kind and rich, both to themselves and to others.

I sincerely pray for your happiness!
