KYB Ch 20
by Lulu—“…Ha, what boyfriend? It’s not like that.”
—“Then why can’t we kick him out? What has he even contributed to the guild? All he ever did was curse in the chat, and look what it’s come to. He’s no help to the guild, but because he’s an officer, he’s getting a fuckton of payouts. We’re busting our asses while she’s busy handing it all out to her boyfriend…”
—“Tangerine-nim, Watch your mouth.”
(Alchemist) KongKang: Is it because the Mystic Association said they’d remove the blacklist if they kick Kisekki out?
(Dual Cannon) WhiteKimchi: Whoa, don’t you think that was a bit too harsh?
Ye Woo-won quietly listened to the conversation, then began opening the guild info window.
‘Territory War Contribution, Guild Activity Contribution, Territory Management Contribution…’
This game’s guild and territory system was far more important and complex than it seemed. Because of that, calculating contribution points required checking endless details. Perhaps because his major dealt with numbers, Ye Woo-won quickly skimmed through the information and then began examining the payouts.
‘Spoils of war.’
When a guild wins a Territory War against another, it can seize a small portion of the defeated guild’s gold as spoils. This gold is then divided according to contribution points, but…
‘That’s a lot.’
When he clicked on battle records, he could see the guild’s win rate and participants for each war. Since this guild ranked second on the entire server, their number of Territory Wars was high, and their win rate was generally impressive. But since it was all PVP among humans, losses were natural—and the roster of participants changed slightly each war, so the numbers varied a little.
‘The four of them always go together, huh.’
The four now voicing complaints had fought together every time and seemed to have filled their guild contribution mainly through those wars. Ye Woo-won narrowed his eyes as he examined their records.
‘Something’s off about their win rate.’
At a glance, the win rate from the territory wars those four participated in didn’t seem unusual. But against a certain guild, their loss record was…
‘Consistent?’
What’s this? How could loss scores line up that precisely? It’s not like every war happens under identical conditions. Shouldn’t the results fluctuate naturally?
‘I should check properly.’
Ye Woo-won opened Excel. He began inputting numbers, cross-checking data. A few figures weren’t enough to be sure. He figured he might need to include results from several months back.
Scrolling down with his right hand, he started recording with his left. He moved his hands with the same frantic speed he had when working. Meanwhile, the others kept on arguing.
—“Stop hiding and say something. What are you doing, cowering behind your girlfriend?”
—“What is he supposed to say?”
—“See? And she still claims she’s not his girlfriend. Look at her trying so hard to protect his boyfriend.”
MeteorMagic chimed in, escalating the tone even further.
(Assassin) Nyamnyangi: Can’t we just speak up too? If they don’t like it, they can leave; what’s their problem, fuck.
(Alchemist) KongKang: That fucker ㅇ_ㅇ?
The party chat was in chaos. Even players who rarely cursed were venting their anger.
—“Why can’t anyone say anything to him? Just because he’s a founding member? Enough coddling already. We’re the ones who built this guild, aren’t we? Look—we’re holding the top four contribution ranks right now. And that guy’s only fifth. He does nothing but loaf around.”
—“Be real, no.10-nim, are you dating Kisekki-nim or something? Is that why you can’t kick him out? No? Then why are you defending him so hard? Hey, Kisekki-nim! Turn your mic on. I said, turn it on!”
—“Calm down, please. Just stop sending whispers and messages for now… Sigh, fine. I’ll unlock global mic permissions.”
Unable to resist the pressure, no.10 sighed and removed the mic lock. Now everyone in the guild could speak, but the room fell silent—no one wanted to go first.
—“Kisekki-nim, say something. This whole mess started because of you, and you’re just hiding like a coward behind your girlfriend?”
—“…”
—“Still nothing. What? Are you one of those keyboard warriors? You talk so much shit in chat—why don’t you just quit already~ God, this is pathetic.”
The mockery grew harsher.
(Assassin) Nyamnyangi: I already sent whispers to the guild master… she said to stay quiet 😭😭said it’ll blow up worse otherwise.
(Dual Cannon) WhiteKimchi: Wow;; listen to them screaming;; I think my eardrums are dying;; can’t we mute them again?;;;
(Assassin) Nyamnyangi: The guild master keeps getting whispers from those four… she said it’s because when she didn’t let those guys use voice chat, she got spammed with tons of messages and whispers;; It seems she had no choice but to turn the mic on since the lag kept getting worse😭😭
(Alchemist) KongKang: What’s gonna blow up lol I’m just gonna talkㅇㅅㅇ
(Assassin) Nyamnyangi: 😭😭KongKang-nim, please calm down, she begged us to stay still…
(Mage) Jinhee: I’m gonna lose it… I just got a message too. How are we supposed to just sit here?
The party members had tried to intervene, but the guild master had already stopped them.
(Dragon Knight) Yewoo Beomjeol: Excuse me.
(Mage) Jinhee: Oh right… Yewoo-nim, you’ve only been here a month;; sorry;; this must be a mess to watch..
(Dragon Knight) Yewoo Beomjeol: It’s fine. I just have a question.
Having watched silently, Ye Woo-won typed into the party chat. Noticing his presence belatedly, the others approached him where he stood alone in the guild territory. He was about to type something when a sharp voice made him stop.
—“Fuck, are you hiding behind a woman now? If you’ve caused this much trouble, you should leave yourself.”
The moment he heard that, Ye Woo-won slipped on his headset and pressed the mic-on button.
“May I speak, guild master?”
Amidst the noise, a calm and composed voice resonated in the in-game voice room.
—“Huh? Uh, Yewoo-nim?”
no.10 belatedly called out in surprise.
—“And who are you?”
“Ah, I’m the Dragon Knight using the nickname Yewoo Beomjeol. I apologize for stepping in—I know, it’s not really my place as a new guild member.”
—“Oh… so you’ve got complaints about that guy too?”
At first, Dotbal sounded startled, but after hearing Ye Woo-won’s polite tone, he softened slightly. Ye Woo-won neither confirmed nor denied, simply smiling faintly. Seeing that, ElephantCoffee jumped in eagerly.
—“Yeah, you probably do. I’ve seen you in chat before. Kisekki-nim’s been roasting you nonstop. Wrecks the guild’s image, bullies a newcomer—shouldn’t that be grounds for a kick?”
“Hmm…”
(Mage) Jinhee: Yewoo-nim???
(Alchemist) KongKang: ??????????????
(Assassin) Nyamnyangi: ???????What???
Startled by Ye Woo-won’s sudden move, the guild members flooded the chat with question marks, but Ye Woo-won merely stared silently at the screen.
—“…”
He knew this wasn’t his place. He was aware he shouldn’t be interfering, being so new to the guild. But what bothered him was that Kisekki’s mic was off. Normally, Kisekki would’ve exploded at hearing something like that, yet this time, his unusual silence caught Ye Woo-won’s attention.
“Since you mentioned guild contributions, I took a quick look at the numbers.”
That’s why he was doing this.
“Especially on the contribution you keep claiming so proudly…”
Ye Woo-won silently scanned the figures listed in the spreadsheet and the names of the guilds that Gaesae had lost to, before slowly opening his mouth to speak, “It seems to me you four profited more than anyone else.”
—“…What?”
His voice was gentle, almost pleasant, so their reaction came late. Even to that question, Ye Woo-won smiled faintly, without a trace of hostility.
“Fixing match results in Territory Wars to farm payouts…”
Then, still wearing that slight, courteous smile, he drove in the final nail.
“Weren’t you four the ones doing that?”
