KYB Ch 50
by Lulu‘How did it end up like this?’
It was amusing. It wasn’t awkward because he was teamed with Kisekki. It was just that seeing only the two of them—him and Kisekki—paired among the fourteen made him think it might really be fate.
And it seemed Ye Woo-won wasn’t the only one surprised.
Kisekki typed into chat.
How much did he hate it to leave just one character, the f letter, in guild chat? And how could that single character be so funny—Ye Woo-won’s mouth twitched.
(Guild) KongKang: lol he must be so happy…? ㅇㅅㅇ
(Guild) KongKang: that he lost even his vowels lol
(Guild) HouseParty: This is strange. I see a uck. It must be a bug.
(Guild) Nyamnyangi: 😭😭😭😭so funny😭😭 How did this even happen? Card-nim, did you use some trick?😭😭😭😭😭😭
(Guild) ^Card^: no no definitely not
(Guild) ^Card^: the game blessed them, legend
(Guild) DPSdrop: lolol Director Kim Soopal blessing these two lolololol
(Guild) LifeIsSolo: Director Soopal, what are you even—
While guild members laughed, Kisekki wasn’t going to stay still.
(Guild) Kisekki: If you rigged it like that, you’ll get roasted lol
(Guild) ^Card^: not rigged
(Guild) ^Card^: but I did pray a bit
(Guild) KongKang: lol honest type lol
(Guild) Yewoo Beomjeol: hehe
(Guild) Jinhee: oh wow Yewoo-nim must like this hahahahahaha
(Guild) Kisekki: ?
How could that be funny? Kisekki’s disgusted tone practically had voice acting in Ye Woo-won’s head. As he briefly took off his mic and let out a small laugh while watching the screen, the guild master spoke up.
(Guild) Jinhee: omg there’s less than a minute left
(Guild) ^Card^: ah too bad one of those party4 slots should’ve been mine
(Guild) LifeIsSolo: okok let’s go
(Guild) KongKang: party chat go go go
(Guild) HealingJjimo: yep!
A few minutes went by while the teams were split, and there was less than a minute until the mega raid. no.10 hurriedly moved people into rooms; the voice room cut off with a forced close sound and the join notification chimed again.
Voice Room 2 (private 0/15) 🔇
Party 1 (4/4)
Party 2 (4/4)
Party 3 (4/4)
Party 4 (2/2)
In an instant, the guild was split into four parties.
Kisekki

Yewoo Beomjeol

And then party 4, which Ye Woo-won was in.
“…”
Of course, it was very quiet. The rest of the guild members were probably chatting in their party chats; even guild chat fell silent.
Party 4 had no messages in either voice room or party chat despite the departure time approaching. After several seconds of silence, as if doubting the voice room had even activated, a notification sounded, and Kisekki’s mic indicator lit up.
“…”
–“…”
But what good is turning on the mic when neither of them said anything? Ye Woo-won couldn’t bring himself to speak. He was afraid his voice would betray the smile on his face, and Kisekki, furious as he was, would likely say nothing at all.
‘Still, we have to recruit for the mega raid party…’
With awkward silence and time running out, Ye Woo-won had no choice but to send a party invite to Kisekki.
“Um, so—”
He meant to ask him to accept the invite quickly so they could depart, but Kisekki beat him to it. Maybe Kisekki also realized he couldn’t stand on ceremony any longer and accepted the invite quickly.
Of course, he didn’t accept cheerfully. Through the headset, Ye Woo-won heard a faint grinding of teeth.
“I’ll send the invite.”
How much did he hate it? Understandably so—he’d just been teased by the guild members. He must’ve wanted to refuse teaming with him at all costs.
The Mega Cooperative Raid will begin soon!
Party recruitment request completed. Waiting…
There was no need to add a few more words and rub Kisekki the wrong way. Ye Woo-won submitted the request as if he had never been smiling at all, acting completely unfazed, and the screen displayed a “waiting” notification. Only then did Kisekki finally speak in a chilling tone.
–“…damn lion bastard.”
Lion?
–“That bastard’s face was already fucked up, I just picked the one in the front and this is what I ended up with.”
Ye Woo-won, momentarily puzzled at the sudden lion comment, finally understood and felt a laugh well up that he barely stifled.
“You must’ve picked the lion.”
Just as Ye Woo-won had chosen the chick in the ladder draw, Kisekki must have picked the lion character. That was the result.
–“Yeah. I didn’t like how huge the nose was, though.”
He said the nose was big…
Hearing Kisekki pick the lion in that low, serious voice and grumble, Ye Woo-won felt a small smile form on his lips again
“I’m glad I got to be with you, Kisekki-nim. And…”
Admittedly, it was partly because Kisekki was the person with whom he used voice chat with the most and thus felt familiar.
“We work well together, right?”
They were the pair who’d coordinated the most in this guild. So when the team-up notification showed he and Kisekki together, Ye Woo-won felt quietly pleased.
–“…you should stop phrasing things in a way that invites misunderstanding.”
After a short silence, Kisekki replied in a low, bored tone, as if he was tired of reacting to every little thing.
“What misunderstanding? It’s all true.”
What would there be to misunderstand? Ye Woo-won was only stating facts. After running territory wars together and learning each other’s skills, they’d come to anticipate one another’s moves to some extent.
–“Fuck, so—”
Matching complete!
Kisekki tried to add a bit more comment, but the system notification shifted the topic.
“We have a match.”
Entering Illusion Dungeon Nightmare!
Seeing the dungeon name, Ye Woo-won said with mild annoyance, “This’ll be a pain.”
–“Of all things, this stupid one.”
Kisekki grumbled in irritation at the same time. The Illusion Dungeon was notorious as one of the hardest dungeons among the mega raids.
“Pulling mobs is going to be annoying.”
–“It’s gonna be a drag.”
In [Nightmare], the problem was the first and second stages, where lower bosses swarm in waves.
True to its name, ghost-type bosses repeatedly vanished and reappeared. Also, being an older dungeon, its map flow and other quirks made it tedious. As he thought that, the loading finished and the screen changed.
The masters within the illusion are wary of you!
[Quest: Eliminate the masters of the Illusion Dungeon! (Current contribution 0%)]
Ye Woo-won glanced briefly at the familiar quest window and then checked the party list. It would be best to confirm the composition before moving.
‘It’d be nice if there were classes good at mob-pulling… hmm?’
Looking at the party list made him freeze in surprise. He blinked and examined the nicknames in the party window again to make sure he wasn’t mistaken—but he wasn’t.
(Guardian) Marigi: Look… Who’s this~~~~
At that moment, Marigi, who had been matched in the same party, walked up in front of Yewoo Beomjeol and typed.
Marigi had an avatar of a voluptuous, beautiful woman’s upper body but the lower body of an animal, and she carried a large shield and hammer.
‘Guardian…’
The Guardian is an SSS-tier tank race customizable with animal lower bodies, a tank class overflowing with the game company’s blessing and affection—an overwhelmingly strong tank that fixed the inconveniences of the Dragon Knight and was currently the most numerous tank race.
(Guardian) Marigi: Yewoo Beomjeol~~ lol
That Guardian, Marigi, greeted Yewoo Beomjeol. As he stared at the chat window, Ye Woo-won’s lips pressed into a straight line, looking unusually troubled.
