Looking around, almost everyone was at max level, and the items they carried were dazzling. Feeling uncertain whether he even belonged here, Ye Woo-won finally opened his mouth.

(Guild) Yewoo Beomjeol: Uh, excuse me
    (Guild) Kisekki: You.

But before he could even type a proper message, a slender female avatar stood before him. From head to toe, she was clad in pitch-black gear, appearing less than half Yewoo Beomjeol’s size.

(Guild) Kisekki: Why did you accept the invite?

Ye Woo-won stared blankly at Kisekki.

He hadn’t expected Kisekki, who’d been silent throughout the entire raid, to speak to him. But it wasn’t an unreasonable question, either.

    ‘So, he’s an officer, huh.’

Next to Kisekki’s name floated an icon marking his character as a guild officer. Was this some kind of simple interview?

After a short hesitation, Ye Woo-won began to type. Of course, joining the guild had its system advantages—but the real reason lay elsewhere. So, he typed honestly.

(Guild) Yewoo Beomjeol: Because I’m a fan of you, Kisekki-nim, haha.

He genuinely felt like that. Kisekki’s boldness fascinated him, drawing his interest. Perhaps it was because Kisekki was someone completely opposite from himself.

He’d felt that way ever since seeing the way Kisekki spoke to that Mystic. Just as Ye Woo-won was about to type out what he felt into the chat—

    ‘Huh?’

He felt a chill behind his back. Yewoo Beomjeol instinctively narrowed his eyes and took a step back.

    CRACK!

A loud sound echoed the moment he moved. His gaze dropped downward.

    ‘A scythe?’

Right beside where he’d been standing moments ago, Kisekki’s enormous weapon—Death Scythe—was embedded into the ground. As he blinked in confusion, the shadow of the long scythe loomed above his head.

    [SYSTEM]
Kisekki has designated you as a target!

A system alert popped up instantly.

    ‘PVP?’

PVP? Fighting between players? Why, all of a sudden? But there was no time to think. He was too busy defending against the sudden, relentless attacks raining down on him.

    ‘This…’

Kisekki’s eyes glimmered with killing intent as he drove him back and none of the guild members made a move to stop him. To make sense of the situation, Ye Woo-won tried to think as creatively as he could.

‘This must be part of the interview.’

After all, this was the No. 2 guild in the entire server. They wouldn’t just let anyone in. No crazy officer would attack a newcomer without a reason.

If that’s so, he couldn’t just stand still. Ye Woo-won raised his massive greatsword.

    [SYSTEM]
You have designated Kisekki as a target!

The scythe, which had been on the verge of cutting him in two, bounced off the greatsword with a metallic clang.

    Switching to the PVP set.

Taking advantage of the brief opening, he switched his gear to PVP mode. Instantly, Yewoo Beomjeol’s armor darkened into a shadow-black hue.

    Swoosh!

Ye Woo-won charged straight at Kisekki. But Kisekki dodged effortlessly with a slight tilt of his body.

    (Guild) Kisekki: LOL

Not only did Kisekki have time to type, but he kept bombarding Yewoo Beomjeol with skills without a single pause.

    (Guild) WhiteKimchi: ;;;what’s happening;;;
(Guild) no.10: 😭, is he insane!!
    (Guild) ITrustedCactus: gasp
    (Guild) ^Card^: discipline?

The chat window, which had momentarily gone quiet, flooded with messages again.

‘Come to think of it, only certain parts of the territory allow PVP.’

As he blocked another strike, Ye Woo-won’s eyes flicked toward the ground. Just beyond him, he noticed a glowing blue dotted line marking a PVP zone.

If he remembered correctly, his character had been standing outside that line earlier. But now, he was clearly inside it.

    ‘No way.’

The scythe Kisekki had first thrown at Ye Woo-won’s feet wouldn’t have dealt any damage anyway, because the spot where he was standing wasn’t a PVP-enabled zone.

But by instinctively dodging that fake strike, he had stepped forward—

    ‘So it was a feint.’

If he’d moved into the PVP zone on his own… Did Kisekki really predict that tiny chance? If so, Ye Woo-won couldn’t help but laugh.

‘A second later and I’d have lost half my HP already.’

Kisekki, spotting that split-second of distraction, activated his Ultimate.

Ye Woo-won quickly summoned a small dragon, forming a massive shield—but even so, more than half his HP was gone in an instant.

    (Guild) LeaveTheHealToMeButIDon’tRemember: oh oh oh
(Guild) Nyamnyangi: huh?? he blocked THAT? Dodged??
(Guild) LifeIsSolo: oh sht lol that’s insane
(Guild) KongKang: holy f** this is awesome @Guild members, come to the territory right now! Something fun is happening!

The guild members began tagging others, showing no sign of stopping the fight. As for no.10, the one who’d invited him…

    ‘She’s frozen stiff.’

Was this really an interview? He just stood there, blank and dazed.

What should he do? Ye Woo-won had thought it would end after a few exchanges, but it was proving more difficult than expected.

    ‘He’s fast.’

The Dragon Knight class had high defence but poor speed and weak DPS. Whenever Ye Woo-won reached out to strike back, there was nothing left but the fading traces of a Necromancer.

After a brief moment of hesitation, he switched from his PVP set to another setup entirely.

Yewoo Beomjeol uses the AoE debuff skill [Scream of the Sacrificed]

Normally, he wouldn’t bother using such a mana-heavy skill, but he had no choice.

‘If this is an interview, I should at least show some effort.’

Even if he lost, he didn’t want to go down easily. As Ye Woo-won began to cast something, Kisekki immediately leapt backward. But—

    ‘I knew you’d go back.’

To Ye Woo-won, that movement was far too predictable.

(Guild) ITrustedCactus: !!!!whoa what was that
    (Guild) KongKang: ???a swamp??
(Guild) LeaveTheHealToMeButIDon’tRemember: wha—what kind of c-class IS this D-Dragon Knight?

Kisekki realized too late—his feet were sinking into the swamp, turning black. From Yewoo Beomjeol’s fingertips, a dragon emerged and soared.

Yewoo Beomjeol uses [Lullaby of the Sacrificed]

It was a skill that could stun the target for 1–2 seconds. With his feet trapped, it was sure to hit. So, Ye Woo-won quickly typed in chat:

(Guild) Yewoo Beomjeol: Let’s stop here…

In this game, PVP battles carried a chance of item drops. So most players stopped before things went too far. After all, losing a rare item was a hassle. Ye Woo-won had planned to end it by putting Kisekki to sleep, but—

    “Huh?”

Ye Woo-won’s screen began to darken.

    [SYSTEM]
Yewoo Beomjeol has been slain by Kisekki’s attack.

A death notice flashed across the screen.

    ‘What? How?’

He clearly had the advantage—yet somehow, he lost. Tilting his head in disbelief, Ye Woo-won looked down at his feet… and chuckled faintly, forgetting even that he’d just died.

    (Guild) Nyamnyangi: wtf, crazy b**tard…

Ye Woo-won wasn’t the only one who’d laid a trap.

(Guild) Nyamnyangi: Wait—did Kisekki-nim dodge the sleep skill AND use a trap at the same time??

When Ye Woo-won spotted Kisekki’s trap skill under his feet—shaped like a mousetrap—he couldn’t help but laugh in disbelief. Even with his feet stuck in the swamp and at risk of dying from even a single hit, Kisekki had still used a skill to set a bomb trap.

    (Guild) ITrustedCactus: okay that’s impressive;;

    It was reckless—borderline suicidal.

(Guild) LifeIsSolo: but honestly, if the Dragon Knight-nim used a shorter-cast skill instead of that sleep one, the result might’ve flipped
    (Guild) WhiteKimchi: yeah;; true..;; the Dragon Knight probably would’ve won;;

Watching the scene unfold, LifeIsSolo spoke up. That player had been right. If Ye Woo-won had used a faster-casting skill instead of the sleep one, Kisekki would’ve died first.

(Guild) Yewoo Beomjeol: Guess I lost.

But a loss was still a loss.

It was his own fault for choosing the sleep skill. As he accepted defeat, Kisekki sheathed his weapon and walked toward Yewoo Beomjeol’s fallen body.

‘Is he going to revive me?’

Normally, a player could revive after ten seconds, but if another player helped, the revival was instant. It was common courtesy after a PVP fight.

    ‘He’s a bit strange, but not a bad person…’

However, before he could finish that thought, Ye Woo-won’s mouth fell open.

Instead of trying to revive Ye Woo-won, Kisekki seemed more interested in walking over to where his dropped item had landed. What Ye Woo-won had randomly dropped was nothing more than a common high-grade potion—yet Kisekki picked it up as if it were some kind of trophy.

(Guild) Kisekki: Here. Take it back.

He tossed it beside Yewoo Beomjeol’s corpse with a laughing emote.

(Guild) Kisekki: You probably need this more than I do, haha.
