Chapter 10: Let Me Properly Pursue You

Lin You recalled that it was also near the end of the year when he had just come of age and experienced his first heat. Naturally, he spent it with Sade.

Since it was the first time for both of them and they were still ignorant, they simply followed their instincts. As a result, Sade not only marked him temporarily, but their intimacy was so intense that Lin You could hardly get out of bed afterward and needed several days to recover.

A temporary mark usually lasted between ten days and two weeks. At that time, having just been marked by Sade, Lin You felt a strong emotional dependence on him and frequently craved his comfort. But he had to stay at the temple for training and couldn’t cling to him as he wished. An Omega without a sense of security would naturally miss and need their Alpha terribly.

When he learned that he was invited to the Queen’s banquet as Sade’s fiancé, he had been overjoyed. Finally, he could see the Alpha he missed so much.

He didn’t expect that, upon arriving at the venue and finally spotting Sade, he’d hear him say something like this before he could even greet him:

“Fiancé? He’s just someone I was matched and bonded with. I don’t even really know him.”

Sade had said that while holding a glass of red wine, casually chatting with a group of people.

Lin You remembered it clearly. Hearing the Alpha who had just marked him say such words, his passion and joy were instantly extinguished. It felt like his heart had died. He was submerged in an abyssal chill, as though suffocating beneath frozen soil.

He could no longer remember how he left that banquet. He didn’t seek out Sade afterward. In fact, he instinctively avoided him. The event had been so grand, and avoiding one specific person hadn’t been too difficult.

Lin You once thought he had finally gained a family and could build a small home with Sade. But the cruel truth showed him it was all just wishful thinking. Perhaps deep down, he simply wanted a family too badly—so much so that he mistook their relationship for something more.

There was nothing he could do about others’ thoughts, but he could choose to become stronger—strong enough to not need anyone. That way, he’d never have to feel disappointed again.

“Yuyou… Yuyou, what are you thinking about?” Sade waved his hand in front of Lin You’s eyes. Lin You had suddenly spaced out.

“…Nothing.” Lin You snapped out of his memories and stared at the man in front of him. Seeing Sade again felt like a lifetime had passed. His mood sank.

“Why the scary expression? Who upset you? Tell me, I’ll take care of it for you,” Sade said with a smile.

It’s you! Lin You glared at him but said nothing. In the end, he just mumbled, “No need.”

“Alright, alright. Our Yuyou is strong. If anyone bullies you, just use your mental power to control them, right?” Sade teased.

“Mental powers aren’t meant to be used like that,” Lin You said, looking at him in exasperation.

“True, true. But you’re always free to control me. I’ve got no defenses when it comes to you,” Sade replied, suddenly serious.

“You’re overthinking. I don’t want to control you,” Lin You muttered, not knowing how else to respond.

“Yuyou, you’re just too cute.” Sade deliberately lightened the mood to ease Lin You’s emotions. Seeing him slowly relax, he felt reassured.

Sade’s burning gaze lingered on Lin You. He stared at him deeply, as though trying to strip away all of his defenses and peer into his heart.

Just as Lin You was about to break and run away, Sade spoke seriously:

“Yuyou, I wanted to take my time and tell you this later… but I realized we’ve already wasted too much time. I don’t want to drag this out anymore.”

“We met at sixteen, got together at eighteen, and now it’s been four years. I owe you a lot. Back then, I was too young and focused entirely on training. I didn’t pay attention to our relationship, and I didn’t care for you properly. That’s why now—I want to make up for all the time we lost. I don’t want to wait another moment…Yuyou, please let me pursue you! I want to fall in love with you! I want to hold you, kiss you, cherish you—not just sleep with you at the end of the month to satisfy physical needs like it’s a duty or a routine. I want to live every day with you, properly, sincerely.”

“I know you might not know how to respond right now—and that’s okay. You just need to be yourself. Just let me pursue you,” Sade said, his voice gentle yet resolute. A bright, radiant smile bloomed on his face, dazzling like summer sunlight—so brilliant it was hard to look straight at it.

Lin You stared at him in a daze, slowly processing everything Sade had just said. After a long moment, he finally whispered, “You really don’t have to go through all this trouble.”

“I want to, Yuyou,” Sade replied simply.(To be continued…)
