MMBMGAP CH 15
by jj.ssasipscoffeeChapter 15: He Defeated Sade
In Lin You’s field of vision, two giant beetles and two Alpha students from the white team were locked in a fierce final struggle. The intense sounds and fluctuations from the battle masked the movements of Sade’s group. Taking advantage of the situation, Sade quickly organized his team into formation, surrounding the central battlefield, waiting for the right moment to strike.
As soon as the giant beetles were defeated and the white team Alphas relaxed their guard, Sade gave the signal. Hidden red team Alphas suddenly surged forward, destroying the survival trackers on the two heavily injured Alphas, eliminating them on the spot.
With an early victory, Sade no longer held back. He continued boldly attacking the Zergs, but just as he felt the white team had become suspiciously quiet, he realized some of his team members had vanished.
In an instant, two priests and one Alpha from his side disappeared—and shortly after, the system announced their elimination.
“There’s an ambush. Everyone stop and stay alert!” Sade said cautiously. He was shocked—how had he not noticed the ambush at all? Feeling alarmed, Sade sharpened his focus and carefully scanned the surroundings.
Suddenly, he dashed forward and caught someone.
It was a white team priest, caught mid-action using spiritual energy to set up a barrier. The barrier, resembling a small-scale canopy, had perfectly concealed the presence of the white team members. Earlier, Sade had only focused on detecting living beings and hadn’t noticed the subtle fluctuation of this spiritual barrier. Now that he stood still and concentrated, he could immediately sense the spiritual waves.
“Feng Qing,” Sade called.
Understanding his cue, Feng Qing used his own spiritual power to dispel the white team priest’s barrier—sure enough, several other white team members were hiding behind it. Without the shield to protect them, the battle broke out in close quarters.
When it came to hand-to-hand combat, no Alpha currently enrolled at the academy could match Sade. He struck first, launching himself at the enemy without warning, attacking with precision. He focused only on destroying the enemy’s survival trackers—this was a training match, after all, and there was no need to injure anyone. Before long, all the Alphas on the white team had been eliminated.
Meanwhile, the battle among the Omegas was in full swing. Though it lacked the smell of smoke and blood, it was just as intense. Feng Qing summoned strong gusts of wind to disrupt the white team, preventing their priests from gathering spiritual energy and forming a proper counterattack. The battle reached a stalemate, and just as Feng Qing was about to press forward and destroy the white team’s remaining survival trackers…
A cold wind suddenly swept through the field, freezing everything in its path.
Feng Qing’s vision turned to a white blur. The wind he had summoned was suppressed and dissipated with the falling snow. Everyone—especially the priests with high spiritual sensitivity—felt as if they had been transported from the heat of summer to a frozen tundra. Their entire bodies froze, stiff and unable to move, even breathing became difficult.
“It’s… Lin You,” Feng Qing said with effort. Only Lin You’s spiritual power could suppress him like this.
This time, the freeze was indiscriminate—ally and enemy alike. All of the survival trackers were destroyed by the freezing temperatures.
It was a move that sacrificed both friend and foe—a desperate measure by Lin You when he realized his team had fallen into an overwhelming disadvantage. Quick, simple, and brutally effective, the entire field was wiped out—except for one person.
Lin You was hiding in the upper branches of a towering tree. The dim light provided excellent cover, and he easily blended into the thick foliage. His spiritual power was too strong, and at first, he hadn’t planned to take action. The initial strategy had been to move quietly while concealing their presence, killing Zergs along the way. Everything had been going smoothly until Sade found them.
Lin You narrowed his eyes and watched the Alpha carefully scanning the area up ahead. He didn’t know how much longer he could remain hidden. Even his breathing had grown shallow.
In his mind, Lin You kept replaying different scenarios: how could he possibly beat Sade? His spiritual power didn’t affect Sade. In a head-on fight, he’d definitely lose.
So what could he do?
Sha-sha… sha-sha… sha-sha…
A rustling sound came from behind. Because of the earlier battle noise, more Zergs were attracted to the area. This time, it was a massive beetle and a butterfly-shaped insect the size of a grown adult. Both creatures were charging straight toward Sade and Lin You.
Sade’s golden eyes locked onto the bugs. He drew his short blade, flipping it into a reverse grip and holding it across his chest.
“Yuyou, stay hidden and be careful. Wait until I finish off the Zergs before coming out,” Sade said in a clear, commanding voice. He hadn’t spotted Lin You yet but was certain he was nearby. That big cat of his always liked to hide—but Sade wasn’t worried. He would kill the Zergs first, then find him.
Lin You had a flash of inspiration. While Sade focused on the beetle, Lin You unleashed a wave of spiritual interference at the butterfly. The insect trembled violently, struggling for a few seconds before its entire body seized up and fell like a weightless object. Just before it hit the ground, it regained flight and took off again.
Sade had just sliced open the beetle’s body and was about to stab its core when the giant butterfly dove straight at him. He wasn’t fazed—if one came, he’d kill one. If two came, he’d kill both. With swift precision, he finished off the beetle and looked up to face the flying insect.
Shimmering scales fell like snow from the air—something wasn’t right. That smell!
The flying bug rushed at him with incredible speed. Sade leapt off the tree trunk, using it to launch himself high into the air. His target: the insect’s compound eyes. He raised his blade and stabbed it cleanly—at that exact moment, his survival tracker broke.
Time seemed to freeze.
Lin You blinked his big, innocent eyes at him. Just a second ago, Sade was still valiantly slaying Zergs. Now, he stood there frozen, all fight drained from his body, staring helplessly at Lin You.
Yuyou had done well. Sade had lost.
Lin You mentally directed the flying insect to land. Even in such a harsh environment, he remained clean and composed—his combat uniform was spotless aside from a bit of mud on his shoes.
“So… should I still keep killing Zergs?” Lin You asked.
Sade let out a laugh of disbelief. “You’re the only one left alive. It’s up to you whether you want to keep going.”
“Oh.” Lin You wrinkled his nose. Sade seemed a little upset, but it wasn’t really his fault, was it?
Sade activated his terminal and ended the simulation. As the scene faded, the others who had been eliminated earlier were already lined up outside. They had been watching the remainder of the match and knew exactly what had happened.
The Alphas at the academy looked at Sade with expressions like they wanted to say something but didn’t dare. The priests, on the other hand, weren’t shy at all.
“Lin You, you were amazing!” Feng Qing exclaimed in admiration.
“It wasn’t that great,” Lin You replied. It was only because Sade was too familiar with him—their spiritual energy and pheromones were mutually accustomed, and there were no defenses between them. That was the only reason he could sneak up on him without being detected. If it had been anyone else, it wouldn’t have worked.
“Priest Lin You truly is remarkable. I was outmatched. I’ll punish myself with extra training,” Sade said. “But individual training has its limits, so I’ll have to trouble Priest Lin You to be my sparring partner.”
Sade didn’t seem bothered by the stunned looks from his fellow teammates. Though his words were directed to Lei Yi, his eyes never left Lin You.
“Alright,” Lin You nodded. He had no reason to refuse. Extra training was a good thing. Actually, everyone should probably be training more, he thought quietly to himself.
