Chapter 17: A Table of Dishes Already Set Aside

When Lin You woke up, he felt a little dazed. He sat up and saw that night had already fallen outside the window. As he returned to his senses, he noticed that Sade was asleep with his head down on Lin You’s desk. At this moment, the handsome Alpha looked completely unthreatening, his breathing steady—Lin You could almost hear it.

“Miiiaow… meow.” Mimi, having noticed he was awake, lightly jumped down from the top of the wardrobe and rubbed against him, then curled into his arms, meowing nonstop. Lin You checked the time—it was about right to be hungry—so he opened a can of food for her.

After settling Mimi, he got dressed. The thought of having fallen asleep stark naked while Sade had been present made Lin You’s face flush red with embarrassment. No matter how exhausted he had been, how could he not have properly dressed before sleeping? Even if they had already done everything there was to do between them, it was still deeply embarrassing.

Grrrgle.

His stomach growled before his embarrassment even fully settled. After all, the intensity of the earlier training had been no joke. Lin You habitually took a nutrient drink out of the cabinet and was about to open it when he suddenly remembered—Sade had mentioned before falling asleep that they would go eat together.

While Lin You could easily satisfy a meal with just a nutrient drink, Sade, aside from that one time when it was absolutely necessary, had never once drunk one. So Lin You quietly put the drink back.

He walked over to Sade and, after a moment of hesitation, gently tapped his shoulder and softly called him, “Sade, are you getting up?”

The moment his hand touched Sade’s shoulder, Sade opened his eyes—completely clear and alert, showing no signs of grogginess. Thanks to years of training, he never overslept nor had morning temper. He could instantly wake up and be fully alert, or fall asleep at will.

And only Lin You could wake Sade up like this. If it were anyone else, that highly vigilant Alpha would’ve likely dislocated their arm.

“Yuyou, sorry. I wanted to let you sleep a little longer, but I ended up falling asleep too. Are you starving? It’s a bit late, but the cafeteria’s still open. Let’s just eat there, okay?” Sade got up straight and tall, lightly tidying his clothes. Though his shirt was a little wrinkled, it didn’t detract from his elegant, good looks.

“Okay.” Lin You glanced at Sade—he was dressed so handsomely. So Lin You thoughtfully pulled out a shirt from the wardrobe and wore it over his outfit. That alone was already a rare effort from him when it came to dressing up.

The two of them strolled under the night sky, walking leisurely through the colonnade toward the cafeteria. It was already dark, and there weren’t many people around. In the white corridor, even their footsteps echoed clearly.

Lin You deliberately walked slower than Sade. Instead of walking beside him, he followed behind. He stared at Sade’s back—his long shadow stretched across the ground and along the white walls. Lin You said nothing, his head lowered in silence.

As they walked, Sade suddenly turned around and reached out, taking Lin You’s hand in his. With a gentle pull, Lin You was brought to walk alongside him, and they didn’t let go after that.

Lin You felt a little shy. He had never walked hand-in-hand with someone like this before. Maybe the mood was just too nice—there was a subtle, indescribable hint of something more between them. Even though he’d walked with Sade arm around his shoulder before, it didn’t compare. This made him even more bashful. Lin You thought his palm might start sweating. He was worried that his nervousness would be noticed and even considered pulling away—he could walk by himself, right?

Just as Lin You moved slightly, before he could put strength into it, Sade seemed to sense it. He turned his head with a brilliant smile and looked at Lin You, then firmly locked their fingers together—ten fingers interlaced.

“Yuyou, hurry up. If we walk any slower, there’ll be nothing left to eat. The cafeteria’s about to close,” Sad said as he tugged Lin You’s hand and started to jog. The Alpha’s large hand held tightly onto the Omega’s small one, not loosening even with the movement of running.

Caught off guard, Lin You stumbled as he was pulled into a run, forced to follow Sade like a child, and Sade himself laughed just like a child too. Lin You realized—he hadn’t even run around like this during his own childhood. Sade must’ve been happy and carefree growing up. He felt a bit envious.

By the time Sade pulled Lin You all the way to the cafeteria, Lin You was already panting, completely out of breath. That was when he noticed—somehow, Sade had already arranged for a table full of food to be waiting for them.
