    Chapter 37: Ice Tungsten Star

Early in the morning, Lin You was still asleep when Sade went out for a half-hour jog. When he returned and saw that Lin You was meditating, Sade didn’t disturb him. He quickly took a shower, slipped on a pair of pants, and headed downstairs.

He began preparing breakfast in the first-floor kitchen: four sunny-side-up eggs, slices of smoked meat and salmon, a bit of fresh salad to go with pancakes, and finally, a pot of breakfast tea. Though it seemed like a lot, he actually cooked everything using just one flat-bottomed frying pan. He took out two eight-inch plates and carefully divided the food into two portions, arranging them neatly. The colors were vibrant, and the meal looked both nutritious and delicious.

If anyone outside heard that Sade was good at cooking, they probably wouldn’t believe it. But he had always preferred real food over synthetic stuff like nutrient fluids or energy bars. His military training included wilderness cooking, and since he had a strong interest in food, he often sought advice from the head chef of Starlight Manor. The manor’s kitchen was well-equipped, ingredients were handled by staff, and best of all—no cleanup afterward. It was perfect! As a child, Sade would often get inspired to try all sorts of dishes in the kitchen. Over time, he developed solid culinary skills. He used to cook for Lady Resa, and now he was fully dedicated to feeding his big cat—Lin You. Watching Lin You seriously eating bite by bite gave him a deep sense of satisfaction.

The two of them had a good division of labor—Sade cooked, and Lin You cleaned up. Seeing Lin You carefully washing the dishes and tidying up the kitchen, putting everything neatly back in place, Sade was filled with warmth. So this is what a normal domestic life feels like. Since getting married, the quality of their life had skyrocketed, and both contributed equally to that.

Later, Sade pulled out two sets of winter outfits, including long snow coats, scarves, wool hats, gloves, thick socks, and rugged hiking boots.

Lin You stared at him silently, his expression full of resistance. Isn’t this a bit much? They weren’t afraid of the cold—and if they were, they could just use mental power to stay warm.

“Baby, this is how people here dress. We need to blend in,” Sade insisted. “Otherwise, when you walk down the street, an uncle or auntie will stop you and ask why you’re not wearing a jacket. You don’t want that, right?”

The locals were warm and friendly—especially toward tourists. And with Lin You being so stunning, if he walked around without a coat, there was a real chance some auntie would run home just to grab one for him.

“…Fine.” Lin You reluctantly agreed. The thought of strangers coming up to him with concerned chatter about whether he was cold was enough to make him not want to go out at all…

“And your hair… want to consider tying it up?” Sade gently played with a lock of Lin You’s hair. The weather on Ice Tungsten Star changed in an instant. It might be sunny now, but it could snow later. Keeping Lin You’s long hair tied up would be more convenient.

Sade had a sudden idea—he wanted to try tying Lin You’s hair himself. But it turned out to be much more difficult than he thought. Lin You’s hair was smooth and silky, and Sade didn’t dare pull too hard for fear of tugging on his scalp. As a result, it took a long time, and the hairstyle was either too loose and fell apart or completely crooked—so much so that even Sade couldn’t bear to look at it. For the first time in his life, he regretted not joining his cousins when they used to braid their dolls’ hair as kids.

“I’ll just do a ponytail myself,” Lin You said, getting a bit impatient from all the fuss.

“No, no—let me practice. I’ll get it soon.”

Sade really meant it—he pulled up the StarNet [1]and seriously looked up tutorial videos on how to braid and tie buns. Fortunately, he had training in tying military knots, so he already had a basic understanding of weaving techniques. With that, he was able to apply what he knew and successfully figured it out. He first braided Lin You’s hair into a simple two-strand plait, then twisted it up into a neat bun—just right to tuck into a hat.

He then helped Lin You put on a fluffy beige hat and matching gloves. His snow-white winter coat was accented only by a bright red scarf peeking out from beneath the collar. He was bundled up tightly, looking just like a little sprite from a snow kingdom. Finally, his beloved was ready—it was time to go out and play!

Lin You probably had never felt so relaxed in his entire life—he had a car, a cozy little house, and an Alpha he could fully rely on. He didn’t need to think about anything anymore. He could entrust everything to Sade and just focus on fully experiencing and receiving the joys this world had to offer. It was only now that he truly understood what those books meant when they said: “Let go of everything, and you’ll gain even more.”

Along the way, he gazed out the window. Unlike the greenery and mountains they’d seen the previous day, today’s road felt like they were driving across a vast white wilderness. Low-lying tundra moss was blanketed by a thin layer of snow from the night before, painting a barren and monotonous scene. The only things in sight were the endless white expanse and a straight, narrow road. There wasn’t a single other car around—it felt as if they were the last two people left in the world, heading toward the edge of it.

Inside the car, the heater was blasting warmly, and the scenery soon lulled Lin You into a sleepy daze.

“You can take a nap if you’d like,” Sade said, glancing at him from the corner of his eye.

“Would that be okay…?” Lin You tried to hold on—he thought it would be rude to nap while someone else was driving. Plus, he didn’t want Sade to get bored and sleepy himself.

“It’s fine. Don’t worry about me. Today’s activities will be pretty energy-consuming, so it’s better for you to recharge now. Think of it as preparing for battle,” Sade said with a light laugh and switched on some slow, soothing background music.

A gentle, calming melody filled the car—mainly piano, with steel drums and singing bowls woven in, and a few indistinct instruments blending and resonating in the background.

As he listened, Lin You slowly relaxed. Sade reclined the passenger seat for him, and Lin You curled up like a lazy winter cat. Eventually, he turned to face Sade and dozed off. Seeing him fall asleep filled Sade’s heart with a warm, fuzzy feeling. Honestly, he had great stamina and could concentrate for long stretches—driving was no big deal.

Lin You slept for as long as the drive took, waking up right as they arrived at their destination.

The car pulled up in a small town nestled beside a glacier, known for catering to tourists eager to explore the icy terrain. Sade had booked a glacier hike, and this time, he’d arranged for a local guide to accompany them—someone who could help them experience walking on the glacier, and possibly, if time allowed, try some ice climbing.

“Lord Sade, Priest Lin,” the guide, Plang, greeted them politely. He was a native of Ice Tungsten Star and had received government-sponsored education to become a licensed tourist guide.

“Thank you for your help,” Sade said. Although he didn’t like having someone tag along, there wasn’t much he could do—he had already instructed the security team to follow them in the most discreet manner possible. This was their honeymoon, after all, and he wanted it to be a world for just the two of them.

Lin You nodded quietly. Having an outsider around naturally made him feel a little more reserved.

Plang had already scouted the area in advance. After helping them properly put on their crampons and briefly demonstrating how to use the ice axes, the three of them began their journey toward the glacier. Sade had reserved the entire time slot, so the vast glacier was completely empty except for them. In the biting wind, they trudged forward, stepping cautiously onto the majestic layers of ice—each step deliberate and steady. Falling was common, but still embarrassing, and neither Sade nor Lin You was willing to lose face, especially with someone watching. Out of mutual concern, they focused all the more intently on their footing.

After about an hour of hiking into the glacier, Plang looked around, checking the direction before nodding confidently. “Sir, it’s right here.”

    “Okay,” Sade replied.

He stopped and crouched down, gazing at the layers of frozen ice beneath them. He saw flashes of reflected light inside, as if something lay hidden within—but he couldn’t quite make it out.

“Yuyou, this is the central point of the Ice Tungsten Star’s glacier. It’s where the magnetic field is strongest. I’ve been here before and felt an intense force. Later, when I sensed a similar feeling in your mental power, I realized there might be a connection. That’s why I brought you here to see for yourself.”

Sade had previously encountered Lin You’s mental power during a combat training exercise and found it strangely familiar. At the time, he couldn’t put his finger on it. But while planning their honeymoon, he remembered the glacier’s center on Ice Tungsten Star—and that same sensation he once experienced while training here. That’s when he connected the two and decided to bring Lin You along.

“Mm…” Lin You closed his eyes and released his mental power. The usually cool and tranquil aura became far more intense here—wild and biting like the fierce glacial wind sweeping across the icefields.

“It really does feel familiar… almost like it’s merging with mine… It’s a very comfortable feeling…”

Focusing intently, Lin You felt his spiritual core swell, his glands pulsing as they welcomed a powerful influx of energy. It was as though energy were being poured into him—yet there was no resistance or conflict. His body instinctively opened up, allowing the power to flow in and take root—an intrusion he welcomed with open arms.

“There’s an ice cave over there… the energy is even stronger. Shall we go take a look?” Lin You asked, pointing in its direction as he sensed the source of the energy.

    “Let’s go,” Sade replied.

    (To be continued…)
T/L: This chapter is so heartwarming—it gently paints a picture of Sade and Lin You’s quiet, domestic life as newlyweds. It’s such a joy to see them finally enjoying these peaceful moments together, especially after everything they’ve faced in the main imperial capital. With all the responsibilities and pressure that await them, this little slice of normalcy feels especially meaningful. ✧(..◜ᴗ◝..)
