    Loves Balance

Luo Xing and Huo Xingzhou had been together for six years.

From their senior year of high school to university, then later when Huo Xingzhou graduated and started working, he co-founded a company with Lu Feng. The early days weren’t easy, and they were constantly overwhelmed with work.

Huo Xingzhou couldn’t bear to see Luo Xing go out to work. Besides, Luo Xing loved studying, so he encouraged him to stay in the University. Eventually, Luo Xing remained at the university as a professor.

Huo Xingzhou had shed the youthful arrogance of his school days, replacing it with a composed and powerful presence. His crisp suit accentuated his tall, upright figure, whereas Luo Xing still retained his fair complexion and slender, scholarly appearance.

“Professor Luo, what are you looking at?”

Luo Xing lifted his head and saw the eager eyes of his student. He lowered his gaze and chuckled.
“Nothing much. Do you need something?”

The student quickly replied, “Yes! Someone is looking for you outside.”

Luo Xing was startled and instinctively glanced out the window.

Huo Xingzhou had just come from a meeting, still dressed in a dark suit with a long coat draped over his shoulders. The top two buttons of his shirt were undone, exuding a steady yet subtly domineering aura.

Luo Xing’s heart skipped a beat, and for a moment, he couldn’t react.

Through the glass, Huo Xingzhou tilted his head slightly, his lips and eyes brimming with a dazzling smile. He mouthed the words: “Wife, come here.”

Luo Xing’s face flushed red. He was about to rush out but suddenly remembered the students in the lab. He forced himself to slow down and walked out as calmly as possible.

    “When did you get back?”
Luo Xing stood before him, resisting the urge to bury himself in his arms or tug at his clothes for a kiss. He asked in a hushed voice.

Huo Xingzhou raised his hand to touch his face and sighed, “I came straight here after getting off the plane. I’ve been standing outside your lab for almost two hours. Your students have practically memorized my face by now, but you? You were completely absorbed in your class. Even playing on your phone—what were you looking at?”

Luo Xing gave a sheepish smile and unconsciously rubbed his fingers together.
    “I… I missed you.”

“Hm?” Huo Xingzhou was momentarily caught off guard by his blunt confession.

“There’s a video of you being interviewed on my phone. I… was watching it.” l
Luo Xing blushed deeply, licked his lips, glanced around cautiously, and seeing no one nearby, quickly stood on tiptoe to peck him on the cheek.

Huo Xingzhou’s eyes darkened. Without hesitation, he grabbed Luo Xing and pulled him into the lab. As soon as the door shut, he pinned Luo Xing against it and kissed him fiercely.

This kiss was nothing like Luo Xing’s soft peck—it was filled with overwhelming desire and longing. They hadn’t seen each other for a week, and their minds and bodies were starving for each other.

“Hubby,” Luo Xing wrapped his arms around Huo Xingzhou’s neck, pressing closer, surrendering to the relentless tide of passion.

“When do you get your break?” Huo Xingzhou asked after finally breaking the kiss. He pulled Luo Xing onto a chair, held him in his lap, and gently massaged his waist, his nose brushing against Luo Xing’s delicate neck.

Luo Xing, weak from the teasing, let out a breathy sound and answered with difficulty, “Soon… nine more days…”

Huo Xingzhou let out a displeased hum.

Luo Xing turned his head, his voice soft as he coaxed, “I don’t have to follow a strict class schedule. I only have one more lecture left for this semester’s course. I can adjust my time, okay?”

Huo Xingzhou shook his head. “It’s fine.”

Luo Xing saw the faint redness in his eyes, the exhaustion that shone through despite his cheerful expression. Heart aching, he leaned in and kissed him.
“You always adjust to my schedule. Even when you’re this tired, you still came straight to school to see me, and I can’t even match your efforts.”

    Huo Xingzhou chuckled.
“I’m not tired. I slept on the plane.”

Luo Xing knew he was just saying that to make him feel better, but his heart still filled with warmth. He whispered, “Maybe I should just resign and work at the company with you?”

Huo Xingzhou pinched his cheek and laughed.
“Silly, what could you do at my company? Hand out academic assignments to the employees?” He paused, then kissed Luo Xing’s eyes.
“You’re doing great as a professor. I’d never let you go through the hardships of my job.”

Luo Xing opened his mouth to argue, but Huo Xingzhou silenced him with another kiss.

By the time he was released, his chest felt empty of air, his thoughts scattered. All he could do was lean into Huo Xingzhou’s embrace, gasping softly.

“Any students been flirting with you lately?” Huo Xingzhou asked.

Every time he visited, he saw students—both male and female—hovering around Luo Xing, asking endless questions, like a group of hungry little cubs.

    “No, don’t be jealous again.”

Luo Xing felt Huo Xingzhou’s hands wandering restlessly down his waist, moving toward his back. He shifted uneasily, but Huo Xingzhou trapped him in his embrace, resting his chin on Luo Xing’s shoulder and rubbing his ear against his.

    “Really not?”

Luo Xing was sitting on his lap, completely enveloped in his arms with no way to escape. The proximity made it impossible to avoid inhaling his scent. His ears quietly turned red as he murmured, “Really not. I told them I was married.”

“Oh?” Huo Xingzhou raised an eyebrow at him, intrigued. He wondered how Luo Xing could have been so straightforward about his marital status.

Luo Xing opened his mouth but then hesitated. His fingers unconsciously curled around Huo Xingzhou’s wrist, giving it a gentle squeeze—an old habit he used whenever he wanted to please someone.

“Think carefully before you speak.” Huo Xingzhou lowered his gaze, looking at him coolly.

Luo Xing swallowed nervously. He first placed a kiss on Huo Xingzhou’s back before guiltily admitting, “I just said I was married… and then… they assumed I had a wife and asked me to introduce them to their professor’s wife.”

Huo Xingzhou was speechless for a moment before chuckling at Luo Xing’s guilty expression. His heart softened, and he kissed him. But then, putting on a stern face, he said, “Oh? So you were thinking about marrying a wife, huh?”

Luo Xing quickly explained, “No, no, it’s not like that! Please don’t be mad… I just didn’t want to cause unnecessary trouble. But if it bothers you… I can introduce you to them, okay?”

Huo Xingzhou lowered his head, resting his forehead against Luo Xing’s. The closeness made their expressions blur, but he could clearly see the nervous and anxious flicker in Luo Xing’s eyes. It struck him straight in the heart, making him go soft.

“Alright, husband,” he said with a smirk.

    “Don’t—don’t call me that!”
Luo Xing blushed, pushing him away in embarrassment, turning his head to the side. But his heart was pounding uncontrollably, as if even his nerves had lost control.

Huo Xingzhou hadn’t actually slept much on the plane. Now that he was holding Luo Xing, he felt his nerves relax, and a wave of drowsiness washed over him. He lazily hummed and asked, “Did you have lunch?”

“I did.” Luo Xing noticed the increasing weight on his shoulder and realized that Huo Xingzhou was nearly asleep. Seeing the faint dark circles under his eyes, his heart ached. He gently patted him.

    “Huo Xingzhou.”

    “Mm?”

“You’re tired, aren’t you? Go sleep in my dorm. You might catch a cold if you sleep here.” Luo Xing struggled out of his embrace and softened his voice.
“Or let’s just go home. I made soup this morning. You can drink it before you sleep, okay?”

Huo Xingzhou opened his eyes and stretched out a hand toward him.
“Alright, let’s go home for soup.”

Luo Xing pulled him up, carefully smoothing out his suit. Then, he picked up the coat that had fallen to the ground during their kisses and helped him put it on.

Huo Xingzhou, a head taller than him, stood there unmoving, stretching his arms out like a lord waiting to be served. Luo Xing, out of breath from all the fussing, finally slumped against his chest. But the moment he spoke, Huo Xingzhou grabbed his waist again, teasing him for a while before letting go.

    Just then—

    “Professor Luo, I—”

A student pushed the door open and froze in place, staring blankly at the scene before him.

That steady, handsome man from outside? The one now pressing their professor into his embrace, kissing him fervently?

And Professor Luo? He was tiptoeing slightly, nestled in the man’s arms, his face flushed, returning the kiss with visible tenderness.

The student was utterly stunned. It was as if the entire lab had suddenly ignited, setting his nerves ablaze.

“I-I must have walked into the wrong place,” the student stammered, blushing furiously before stumbling away in a panic.

“Wait,” Luo Xing called out, then waved at the few other students lingering outside, also shocked stiff.
    “You all, come in too.”

The students hesitantly stepped inside, holding their breath, not daring to speak. But their eyes darted back and forth between Luo Xing and Huo Xingzhou, their minds swirling with bold speculations.

Professor Luo—the cold, aloof, scholarly professor—was kissing someone in the lab? And it was a man?

    This was just… too…

Luo Xing intertwined his fingers with Huo Xingzhou’s and cast him a brief glance. In those deep, warm eyes, he caught a tenderness so overwhelming it could drown him. He smiled faintly before turning back to the students.

Lifting his and Huo Xingzhou’s clasped hands, he let their matching rings catch the light. Then, in a calm voice, he said:

“Let me introduce you—this is my husband, Huo Xingzhou.”

    The students’ mouths fell open.

Then, someone blurted out, “G-Good day, Professor’s wife!”

    The room erupted into laughter.

A female student smacked the back of the speaker’s head and whispered, “You don’t even know what to call him properly! I think we should say—”

    “What?”

The girl said loudly, “Good day, Professor’s husband!”

Luo Xing’s cheeks turned bright red as he shot a helpless yet amused glare at his cheeky students. Still, he introduced them to Huo Xingzhou one by one.

Huo Xingzhou nodded with a smile and said apologetically, “I came in a hurry this time, so I didn’t bring you all any gifts. I hope you don’t mind.”

The students quickly waved their hands, “No, no, it’s fine!”

Huo Xingzhou took out a thick stack of red banknotes from his wallet and placed them on the table.
“Thank you for taking care of my husband. Next time, I’ll personally treat you all to a meal. But since I’m in a rush this time, go have some fun on your own.”

The students cheered in unison, “Thank you, Professor’s husband!”

Huo Xingzhou responded with a light hum, watching as they eagerly grabbed the money and ran off to eat.

Luo Xing, still blushing, helped put his wallet away and muttered under his breath, “Taking care of me? Do you think everyone is like you?”

Huo Xingzhou pinched his chin, a teasing smile in his eyes. “Like me in what way?”

Luo Xing’s breath felt scalding. Uncomfortable, he touched his burning red earlobe and mumbled, “Treating me like a child. I’m already twenty-five.”

Huo Xingzhou chuckled and kissed his collarbone.
“You’ll always be three years old in my eyes.”

“What about when I’m eighty? When I’ve lost all my teeth?”

“Still three years old. I’ll feed you and tuck you in to sleep.”

    “Huo Xingzhou.”

    “Mm?”

    “Huo Xingzhou.”

    “Mm.”
