The Happiest Day Ever

I can say that with confidence. It was the best day of my life.

Being involved in such an incident, I sometimes worried if he had come to dislike this country or if I seemed unreliable, but Éclair chose me.

When he told me that he wanted me to stay by his side forever, I was so happy that I almost lost my mind.

He told me that no one else would do it, that I was the one he wanted.

I didn’t know how happy it could be to really connect with someone you love.

When he told me I could bite his neck, I thought there was no greater trust. I never imagined that this would trigger Éclair’s mating season.

The doctor said it would be a long struggle. It might not be normal and we might not become partners.

I knew instinctively that when I bit his neck, there was a significant change in both of us.

Éclair sought me out and accepted me out of instinct. If that’s not love, what is?

The first day I was desperate too. I held him the way he wanted me to, and when Éclair lost consciousness, I finally managed to calm down a bit.

Even then, I think my head was still clouded by the heat. The only thing I could do was to bring water and simple food within reach and to treat Éclair’s neck.

I did i almost unconsciously, but it wasn’t just one time, and it had become quite a serious mark. I wiped off the blood and just disinfected it. I knew it would be better to show him to a doctor sooner, but he was far from being in a condition to call anyone.

Whenever Éclair’s consciousness surfaced even a little, he would seek me out.

I had heard various stories about the mating season of Omegas, but I was surprised at how irresistible it was.

He sought me out with nothing but his scent and his charming smile. It was impossible not to respond.

After two days, Éclair finally started sleeping a little longer.

I became much calmer and contacted the necessary places.

First, I contacted the monitoring agency. If it is recognized that we have become official partners, Éclair will no longer be under the protection of the state. The agency responded quickly and said they would send a doctor as soon as we were in a state to meet people.

Then I applied for an extension of my leave from work. I had taken time off because of Éclair’s incident, but that was about to end. When my partner is in heat, the extension is granted unconditionally and I can’t imagine leaving Éclair in that state to go to work.

I continued to take care of him. It was a blissful time.

Éclair, who doesn’t usually rely on me very much, trusted me with everything. Whenever I left his side, he called my name. I stayed by his side all the time.

The time it took for us to have a normal conversation seemed longer than my brother had told me.

Whether it’s Éclair’s mating season or just because it’s the first time, we’ll have to see how things go from now on.

I thought it might be too early, but I wanted a diagnosis soon, and Éclair’s slight fever hadn’t gone down, so I decided to let the doctor come.

“Éclair, I’m coming in with the doctor.”

After calling, I entered the room, but Éclair was nowhere to be seen. There was no response, and the blanket on the bed was crumpled. He had just been awake, so I didn’t think he was asleep.

The doctor didn’t approach carelessly and signaled me with his eyes.

    “Éclair? Are you asleep?”

When I pulled back the blanket, I saw eyes filled with fear looking back at me.

“I don’t know why. I just wanted to hide.”

“It’ll be over soon, so hang in there for a while. I’ll be right here with you.”

Saying this, I helped him out from under the blanket.

All the while, the doctor stood quietly, trying to be as inconspicuous as possible. When their eyes met, Éclair’s body tensed visibly.

“Thanks for coming. I thought I was okay, but…it seems not.”

    His voice was already tearful.

“It’s normal for him to be unstable during an unexpected mating season, especially when an Alpha who is not his partner enters his territory.”

The doctor said quietly, advising Éclair to avoid eye contact with him as much as possible.

Due to the slight fever, after checking his complexion and throat, Éclair turned to me.

I gently stroked his head as he nestled his face against my chest.

The doctor had to touch him to take his blood. He did it quickly, but Éclair clung to the hand we were holding.

“No doubt, he’s in heat. The rise in his levels is remarkable. I didn’t expect such a quick recovery.”

    The doctor seemed genuinely surprised.

“Can we assume that he has officially become my partner?”

“Most likely, yes. Right now I can’t smell Eclair’s pheromones.”

Normally, I could detect a subtle pheromone scent from Éclair, but no other Alpha could. However, during his heat, the room was filled with a very attractive sweet scent that the Alpha Doctor couldn’t detect.

“Should we check the wound on your neck? Sometimes it can get infected.”

Although I had done a simple treatment, it had become a real wound, so it was best to get it checked out.

    “No!”

When the doctor tried to touch his neck, Éclair firmly refused. He knew it was necessary, but his voice betrayed his reluctance, and he looked regretful.

“Mr. Lumière, could you lift his hair a bit? Ah, I see there’s gauze on it. Could you remove it?”

The doctor didn’t try to touch him forcibly and left it to me to check the wound.

“You bit pretty hard. Was it several times?”

    “I’m sorry, I don’t remember the exact number…”

Biting my neck once should have been enough. Even though I knew that, I couldn’t stop myself that day.

“Well, that’s not unusual. It doesn’t seem to be infected. You disinfected it, right?”

“Yes, I did some basic treatment.”

“I will give you new gauze and ointment. Keep it clean, okay? And try not to bite here again. Your bond is already strong enough.”

Éclair’s mating season isn’t over yet. I’ve been trying to respond to his needs, and it seems that’s a good way to reduce stress. However, I was strongly advised to stop biting his neck.

Finally, the doctor checked the area that had been most stressed by our frequent interactions.

When the small device was inserted to check the inside, Éclair clung to my waist. He was trembling, showing his refusal with his whole body, but he seemed to endure it without complaining.

“Hmm, I see some minor sores and inflammation. I’ll prescribe some oral medicine. Please take them after each meal. There’s also an ointment. Use it whenever you feel pain.”

“Should we avoid inserting anything for a while?”

“It might heal faster that way, but there is no guarantee that another strong wave won’t come. In that case, I’ll leave it to your judgment. It can be quite painful for an Omega to be touched only halfway when they have a partner.

I regretted holding him so roughly, but aside from the bite marks on his neck, his condition wasn’t that bad.

“Still, it’s his first mating season, so if he doesn’t settle down in a few days, or if anything unusual happens, please contact us.”

It seems that by measuring Éclair’s pheromone levels afterwards, we can predict how often this will happen in the future.

After the doctor left, two more strong waves came. I tried to make Éclair feel better just by touching him, but with him crying and clinging to me, it was impossible.

Every time he regained consciousness, Éclair would say he was fine, but he would also sulk a little and complain.

Day by day, Éclair’s condition improved, and by the fifth night he can walking around the house.

He tried to take a bath by himself, but I was worried, so I tried to join him and help with everything, as I had done before. He was embarrassed and almost kicked me out.

I want to do everything for him, but it seems like this is going to be a once every few months pleasure.

After about seven days, like most Omegas, he returned to his normal state.

“It can’t be helped, but the thought that this will happen again in three months makes me feel a little heavy…”

    Éclair muttered wearily.

“I’m happy, but it’s hard on your body, Éclair.”

“Lumière, isn’t this a problem for you too? From what I remember, I was quite a handful and quite selfish, wasn’t I?”

“Not at all. I enjoyed taking care of you.”

    “If that’s the case… well, I guess it’s okay…”

It was natural for an Alpha to do everything he could to make his partner feel comfortable.

This time was sudden, so I don’t think it was enough. I’ll be better prepared next time.

    “Congratulations on this occasion.”

Ende, who had come to our house for the paperwork, bowed and congratulated us.

“Thank you. You’ve been a great help, Ende.”

“Not at all. I’m really happy for you, Éclair. You look so different from when you were in the institution.”

“Right? I used to live such a boring life.”

    Éclair murmured thoughtfully.

“Since you are submitting the partner registration, Mr. Lumière will officially become Éclair’s guardian. However, if anything should come up, please do not hesitate to contact our agency.”

The partner registration is separate from the marriage registration. Some people submit both at the same time, but we have decided to submit only the partner registration for now.

The required information includes details about both individuals and a doctor’s certificate, but there is no need to involve parents or witnesses.

“Ah, I don’t know my birthday.”

Éclair said with a troubled look as she filled out the paperwork.

“The calendar in your country is a little different. What season was it?”

After thinking for a moment, he said,

“No, it’s okay. Do you remember the day we first met, Lumière?”

    “Of course, I haven’t forgotten.”

“Then let’s make this my birthday. The day I met Lumière is my birthday!”

He really does say the sweetest things.

I thought how adorable he was, smiling so innocently.
