OMI 3
by CherrySearching For That One And Only Person
From Lumière’s perspective
Looking back on my life, I believe I grew up in a blessed environment.
My parents, an Alpha male and an Omega female, were undoubtedly destined to be the envy of everyone around them.
In this era of declining birthrates, when having children is rare, they had four children, which is incredibly rare.
Many couples want children but can’t have them.
It’s no wonder that Destined Partners are said to be highly compatible.
I have two Alpha brothers and one Omega brother. We are all boys, and I thought my mother might have wanted a girl, but she never said so.
“Each one of you is my precious treasure”, was her constant refrain.
The second and third sons are separated by eight years.
If the fourth had been born after a similar gap, it would have been difficult because of my mother’s age.
But against all odds, she had me just two years later.
An Alpha after an Omega, and another boy at that. You’d think I’d be treated harshly, but as the youngest child who might not have been expected, I was cherished.
Growing up watching my brothers, I was considered an easy child.
My third brother, an Omega, often played games with me because of our close age. Of course, I avoided the rough outdoor play that the two older ones enjoyed.
By the time I was eight, I had already surpassed my older brother in height.
That was the difference in physical development between Alphas and Omegas.
Watching my closest brother mature from an immature state, I understood how fragile, precious, and deserving of protection Omegas are.
This belief is especially strong among Alphas, but in recent years, it’s become common for Alphas to see Omegas for the first time during compatibility meetings.
Having an Omega brother may have been fortunate for me.
However, this environment fueled my longing for a destiny mate.
Alphas and Omegas can form a special bond called a “mate bond” that is absolute and unbreakable.
It was not until modern times that the idea of having only one mate emerged.
After forming a mate bond, some couples maintained this relationship for life, while others dissolved it due to difficulties or the inability to have children.
The primary reason was often that one partner found someone more attractive.
Initially dismissed as emotional whims, scientific evidence began to emerge over time.
Studies of Alpha and Omega couples who stayed together into old age showed that they responded only to their specific partner and that their pheromones calmed each other down.
Moreover, their children were rarely Betas.
Even when Betas did appear, they often carried strong Alpha or Omega traits and were often productive in Beta-Beta marriages.
Over the past two centuries, global birth rates have continued to decline.
There is a growing movement worldwide to commit to one’s mate, if possible.
It’s not mandatory.
But if you ask couples who have found their soul mates, they will undoubtedly say, “From the moment we met, we couldn’t imagine being with anyone else.”
However, the number of Omegas continued to decrease.
There were far too few Omegas compared to the total number of Alphas. Many Alphas thought that their mate might not even be born yet.
In the past, there have been scams where people claimed to be one’s destiny partner. This happened in generations even older than our parents, close to our grandparents.
Today, pheromone levels, blood test compatibility, and other information are used to determine mate compatibility both subjectively and objectively.
In the past, Alphas could not refuse Omegas who approached them and said, “I’m attracted to you, I love you.”
In addition, inferior drugs that violently induced heat cycles were circulating among the public during this time. There were many reckless claims that eye contact alone indicated a mate.
While bonding between Alphas and Omegas isn’t a bad thing, most of these cases end disastrously.
Destined partners are mysteriously drawn to each other.
As if to prove this, problems arose when people met their partners after they were already married.
The use of inferior drugs significantly reduced the pregnancy rate among Omegas, leading to the rapid regulation of these drugs.
Worldwide, population and the movement of citizens were strictly controlled.
People were a precious commodity, and immigration was allowed only for very compelling reasons.
International marriages between partners were probably one of the few exceptions.
Deciding which country to move to became a dilemma, but often the Omega’s preference prevailed. The risk to the mother was always considered, if an Omega preferred not to leave her familiar surroundings, it was the Alpha who would “move”.
On the other hand, to lower the barriers to romance and love, interactions between Betas are said to be very diverse.
Polygamy is allowed, and if the pregnant partner wishes, they can have children while remaining single. Support for such situations is also extensive.
However, this tendency did not match the nature of Alphas and Omegas, who seek the one and only mate.
The difference in romantic views due to these verses has become a modern issue.
It’s not uncommon for Alphas who have been unable to find their Omega partners to end their lives alone.
While it’s possible for Alphas and Betas, or Betas and Omegas, to have children, the increase in people seeking their mates and ending up alone is not a positive trend.
Many Alphas struggle to find their mates, but my brothers found theirs easily.
My oldest brother’s destiny partner was an Omega girl one year younger. They were also childhood friends.
She was the daughter of my father’s friend, and they had been in contact since childhood. It seems that he knew as soon as she manifested her secondary gender.
For Alphas who are constantly searching for their destiny mate, their relationship would be envied to the point of jealousy. Nowadays, such developments are thought to only happen in stories.
Of course, they spent several years making sure and conducting numerous tests.
The two had eyes only for each other, seemingly oblivious to the concerns of those around them.
When she reached the mature age of 16 in this country, they bonded.
My second brother’s destined partner was an Omega male seven years his senior.
They met about two years after my brother began attending government-sponsored compatibility meetings.
While it’s common to hear that Alphas have difficulty meeting their destiny partners, the same is true for Omegas.
This man had been attending compatibility meetings for seven years and was thinking about finding an Alpha abroad.
On the day of the meeting, he saw my brother for the first time and immediately broke down in tears, saying that he had finally found him, which made my brother very anxious.
If Omegas want to have children, they try to find a mate before the age of 30. As he approached his late twenties, he had begun to consider settling down with an Alpha of a similar age and prioritizing having children over finding his destiny partner.
The third brother, as an Omega, did not have to look for a mate, he had suitors coming to him all the time.
It is mandatory for Omegas of marriageable age to have introductions with Alphas.
However, they can choose who they meet with and how often they meet, usually about once every few months.
Some Omegas, eager to find their match, meet many Alphas in a row.
My brother, however, wasn’t very enthusiastic.
Our parents kept telling him that there was no rush and that he could stay home as long as he wanted.
One day he saw a colleague of mine who was visiting, and he suddenly became very interested in him.
After only two months of dating, they got married.
My brother, who seemed so averse to romance, was the one who pushed for the marriage.
He confidently said that there was no point in waiting when it was clear that this person was the one. This happened when my brother was 20 years old.
The way my family members found their destined partners so easily gave me a false sense of confidence.
I believed, for no real reason, that my one and only would soon appear as well.
I soon realized how difficult this wish was.
During my school years, it was fine. You can’t get married until you’re 16, and it was rare for anyone in my class to have found their “one”.
After graduating from high school at the top of my class, I started working for the government, just like my father.
The work was challenging and interesting.
Gradually, I was entrusted with more important tasks and was invited to small meetings.
In between these responsibilities, whenever I received notices for compatibility meetings, I always attended.
My two older brothers already had children, my nephews and nieces were very cute.
I wanted a family like my parents and my brothers.
Most of all, as I grew older, I felt a growing sense of something missing, a restlessness that grew worse every year.
Until I turned 20, I felt I had plenty of time.
There were still many available Omegas in the country who hadn’t completed their compatibility meetings.
I was truly happy when my friends found their destined partners.
After I turned 25, I began to feel really anxious. I began to think that my intended partner might not be in this country.
Compatibility meetings arranged by the state start at 16.
After ten years, there were almost no free Omegas left in the country that I hadn’t met.
I even considered that my partner might be much younger, and would meet with Omega children of acquaintances if allowed.
I also requested international compatibility meetings.
International matches are difficult to arrange.
It’s not a matter of meeting at random, first, there’s a match based on blood type, pheromone levels and genetics. The Omega then reviews the Alpha’s profile, including photos and background. Only if the Omega thinks it’s a possibility will they meet.
These criteria are still in the research phase, so there is a risk of missing a match.
Most countries do not send Omegas abroad lightly.
The Alpha must travel to meet them. This takes a lot of time and money, so it’s not something that can be done often.
At that time, it was hard for me to really celebrate when a colleague found his or her soul mate. Although I could offer my congratulations, I felt envious inside.
Where was my partner?
Some Alphas never find theirs and remain single their entire lives.
My family assured me that it would be okay and that I would meet my partner, but as I approached 30, it became a serious concern.
Around that time, through my father, I received an invitation from the government to a special compatibility meeting.
Due to confidentiality, I was told that if the person wasn’t my destined partner, I had to forget everything I saw and never speak of the meeting.
That’s why it hadn’t been announced to the public yet, and they were starting with government officials.
I immediately agreed. Signing a non-disclosure agreement was no big deal. I really wanted to meet every Omega I hadn’t met yet.
The security for this meeting was much tighter than usual.
I was strip-searched, and they checked to make sure I hadn’t taken any drugs to “boost” my pheromones.
I also got some explanations from the staff.
The person I was going to meet didn’t understand the language of this country.
I had to communicate through pictures and gestures. I was only allowed to talk about myself, it was okay for him to talk, but I wasn’t allowed to ask him frivolous questions.
If an Omega from another country was staying, this level of security made sense.
Even before the door opened, I thought I smelled a slightly sweet scent.
As soon as I entered the room, I couldn’t see anything but him.
His light reddish brown hair and deep amber eyes were wide open and staring at me.
“Hello, it’s an honor to meet you today.”
I greeted him formally. He just stared at me blankly.
“I look forward to meeting with you”
I said, extending my hand in a gesture of friendship. He stood up slowly.
He was quite small. Was he really an adult? Because I don’t think any country would send a minor Omega abroad…
He took my hand gently. It was thin and small, much more delicate than any Omega I had ever met.
At that moment, the sweet smell in the room intensified.
I wanted to hug him, to make that scent and everything about him mine. Such emotions surged through me.
“Ugh… ah”
He showed a feverish expression, let go of my hand and crouched down.
“Are you okay?”
I hurried to support him, but the staff that had been guiding me stopped me.
“Please don’t come any closer. This is the first time he has a reaction. Avoid contact!”
They stood protectively in front of him and said clearly.
“I’m sorry, but today’s meeting is canceled. Please leave.”
“Wait, I can’t just leave him like this.”
“We’ll take care of it, don’t worry. He won’t calm down if you stay in the same room.”
The staff didn’t budge and even called security to escort me out.
Of course, I couldn’t just leave without an explanation. I insisted on getting answers and was told to “wait in another room”.
A few moments later, the staff and a doctor came to explain.
“Is he all right? If he was uncomfortable, I want to apologize.”
“He is much calmer now. It was an early stage, so the medication stabilized him quickly. It seems that your pheromones caused a pseudo-heat.”
The doctor said that this reaction was common in immature Omegas. If he had entered an incomplete heat, it would have caused him great discomfort.
Calming him down early will minimize the strain on him.
“Mr. Lumière, just to confirm, you haven’t taken any pheromone enhancers, have you?”
“I can take a blood test right now if you want.”
“No, the pre-test results were normal. Besides, if an Alpha took drugs, unnatural pheromones would leak out… Even as a Beta, I didn’t feel anything from you during the escort.”
They apologized and said they had to ask.
“Mr. Lumière, did you notice anything unusual when you entered the room?”
“No, just the smell. It was a sweet, pleasant smell.”
I answered the doctor’s question.
“He also mentioned that he smelled a pleasant fragrance even before you entered the room. However, I can’t smell anything now. It seems that only the two of you can detect this scent, even though you haven’t formed a bond yet.”
The doctor explained, causing my excitement to rise. Could it be him? Could he really be the one?
“Is it possible that he is my…”
“It’s not confirmed yet. However, he has never reacted to other Alphas he has met before. This is the first time he has shown such a reaction.”
I felt like I was about to soar. Maybe I had finally found him.
Goddess, I wanted to see him again, just one more time.
“If you want to continue the meetings, there are many things you need to know. His environment is probably very different from that of Omegas in this country.”
The doctor said, then we discussed his health.
His development was poor for his age. He looked about ten years old but could be older.
He had healed over time, but there were many small injuries and bruises, suggesting possible abuse.
Despite his young age, there were clear signs of sexual activity that didn’t appear to be consensual.
In addition, he appeared to be using substandard drugs to control his pheromones, which are no longer seen in this country, so it was unclear how mature he was. His first test results were terrible.
“Was he being held by a criminal organization? Some countries haven’t eradicate human trafficking.”
I asked, things are more terrifying than I had imagined.
“We considered that possibility. But if they knew its value, there’s no reason to harm an Omega.”
The staff explained. Indeed, an Omega would never be harmed, especially for monetary gain.
“We have been taking care of him for about two months. Based on his speech, his daily behavior, and his reactions to us, the government believes that he is probably a summoned one.”
The staff continued.
The “summoned ones” are said to be brought into this world by the goddess, appearing suddenly one day.
They come from different worlds with different languages and lifestyles that often don’t conform to our norms.
Worldwide, one or two such people appear each year.
So far, none of the summoned ones seem to be from the same world.
One thing they have in common is that they are all Omegas.
This has led to the belief that the Goddess is summoning these destined partners for people from other worlds.
“To be sure, we want to use a language-unifying drug, but it wasn’t effective when mixed with tea. It requires a connection that is not to be taken lightly.”
There is a drug that allows you to understand what the other person is trying to say through touch.
However, the less familiar you are with the language, the more difficult it is to achieve this just by taking the drug.
The maximum effect is achieved through a trusting relationship, such as that of a married couple or family, or through a physical connection.
If it’s a language from another world, just taking the drug won’t be enough.
“So you were looking for his potential partner?”
“Yes. Since he is an Omega without a family, we also need to find a guardian.”
“I want to see him again. Please let me meet him.”
Such a brief encounter wasn’t enough for me.
“Today will be difficult. We need to wait a few days until he calms down and agrees to see you again. Since he arrived at this facility, his pheromones have never been disturbed. Today was the first time he was so agitated.”
He had been taking mild medication to slowly stabilize his disrupted pheromones. The side effect was that he became less responsive to pheromones.
The sudden increase in his pheromones after a long time probably had a significant effect on his mind and body.
I had to let him rest and gave up the meeting for the day.
I was on edge waiting for the notification.
I went to work, but I couldn’t concentrate.
Three days later, in the morning, I received a message saying he was ready to meet and asking when I was available.
I replied that I could meet right away. They arranged the meeting for that afternoon, so I left work early.
I was very nervous. What impression had I made on him?
The fact that he was willing to meet again – did that mean he was interested?
He was waiting for me in the room, which still smelled sweet.
Picking up where we left off, I reached out for a handshake, but the staff gently stopped me.
Right, I mustn’t rush. Today we should just talk.
When we were finally alone, I knew exactly what to say first.
“Lumière.”
I said, pointing at myself.I wanted him to know my name.
“Lumière, I am Lumière.”
After I repeating it a few times, he looked startled.
“Lumière?”
He said, pointing at me.
The feeling of hearing him say my name was indescribable.
To show him that he was right, I nodded vigorously.
He thought for a moment before speaking.
“I’m… um… glad to see you again, Lumière.”
His pronunciation was as halting as that of a child just starting school.
But it was clear that he was trying hard to find the words to respond. This effort made him endearing and precious.
I wanted to hear more of his voice.
If possible, I wanted him to smile by my side.
I wanted to protect him from any threats.
There was no doubt.
He was the one I was looking for.
