    Loves Balance

Watching the intestines sizzling on the grill, Park Dong-sik swallowed the saliva pooling in his mouth. He’d been desperately craving intestines for days now but had to give up earlier when he realized Kim Yoon-ah didn’t like them.

He casually mentioned it to Kim Jun-han, but he didn’t expect him to suggest coming right away. He’s so considerate…. Come to think of it, Kim Jun-han has changed a lot since they reunited at the villa. He’s become much more affectionate. It’s hard to believe he’s the same person who used to insult me with vulgar language.

In the quiet atmosphere, the staff placed a piece of grilled intestine in front of Park Dong-sik. After blowing on it and dipping it slightly in sauce, the fat burst inside his mouth, filling it with a rich taste.

    “Mmmh.”

Hearing his strange sound of appreciation, Kim Jun-han laughed.

    “Is it that good?”

“Words can’t describe it. I even dreamed about this. It’s been so long since I’ve had intestines.”

While savoring each bite, Kim Jun-han just watched him eat without picking up his chopsticks.

    “You should eat too, CEO.”

“I’ll pass. It’s not to my taste.”

“What a shame. This is delicious food.”

Well, he didn’t look like someone who’d enjoy intestines. When urged to order something else, he chose stew and rice from the menu. Meanwhile, Park Dong-sik’s gaze turned to the refrigerator. Seeing it stocked with all kinds of alcohol, he couldn’t help but gape, and Kim Jun-han asked the staff for two glasses. When they were filled with cider, Park Dong-sik smiled bitterly.

“Never thought I’d see the day I’d drink cider from a soju glass.”

They clinked glasses and drank, but it didn’t satisfy the craving for alcohol. Park Dong-sik called to Kim Jun-han with a serious expression on his face.

“I have a favor to ask.”

    “What is it?”

“Right after I give birth, could you hook me up to soju instead of an IV?”

    “…”

He laughed self-deprecatingly even as he spoke.

“Looking at thoughts like these, I guess I’m not cut out to be a good mother.”

“You’ll definitely be a good mother. After all, you’ve tried to protect the children.”

“What effort? You know I was initially just in it for the money. Even now…I’m not so sure about it. I want to raise them well, but…someone like me who grew up without parents, can I really give love…Sometimes I think maybe I should let Madam Song raise them, and I could go abroad—”

Noticing Kim Jun-han’s eyes growing increasingly fierce, Park Dong-sik quickly stuffed intestines in his mouth. Kim Jun-han refilled the empty soju glass and asked about today’s events.

“How did the meeting with Chairman Lee go?”

“Thanks to you. When she saw that moon jar thing, her eyes lit up. What’s so great about that chamber pot-looking thing…”

“Let me know if you need any help. Anything.”

“Thanks. Oh, I’m curious about something.”

    “What?”

“Tae-han’s not on a business trip, right? I heard he’s locked up at home?”

    “Ah.”

    “Why is he locked up?”

    “…”

“You didn’t lock him up out of jealousy, did you?”

Kim Jun-han smiled bitterly and wouldn’t answer further questions. When told to ask Kim Tae-han directly later, Park Dong-sik could only guess it was related to Lee Hee-soo. After dinner, they moved to a nearby park to aid digestion, and the weather was warm enough that they had to take off their coats.

After a brief evening shower, the grass smell was strong with each step. There weren’t many people around, just a couple with their children. One child was running away screaming, while the other was throwing a tantrum like a deer, trying to break free from their mother.

Seeing this, Park Dong-sik’s expression gradually darkened.

“Wow…so this is real life parenting in action.”

In his imagination, there were angel-like children sleeping quietly in strollers, but actual parenting seemed quite different.

“Maybe I’m not cut out for raising children—”

Before he could finish, one child came running without looking. Just before colliding with Park Dong-sik, Kim Jun-han quickly blocked them, kneeling to meet the child’s eyes.

    “Are you okay?”

When the child nodded, Kim Junhan smiled charmingly.

    “Be careful.”

The child stared curiously at Park Dong-sik’s belly.

“Does this mister have a baby in his tummy?”

“Yes. Beautiful babies like our princess are sleeping in there.”

The girl blushed and ran to her mother, and they could hear her bragging that the handsome mister called her pretty. Watching this, Park Dong-sik complained indignantly.

“The kid has no taste. How am I a mister? I’m an oppa.”

“Did you leave your conscience at the intestine restaurant?”

“Feeling good about being the only one called handsome?”

Just then, the children’s ball rolled toward them. As Kim Jun-han kicked it back, Park Dong-sik watched with sparkling eyes.

“After I give birth, want to take parental leave and raise them?”

“What about Hee-soo? Planning to run away?”

“I really can’t imagine raising children. It’s not my style. I’d rather get a job. Actually, I got a scout offer today.”

    “From where?”

“Secret. But you never know what the future holds. I might become such a big player in politics and business that I could support you. So, want to invest in me? I’m looking for investors. Congratulations! You’re the first winner!”

“You really think of me as just your financier.”

He shook his head and laughed as a fresh breeze blew his bangs. It was an impressively cinematic moment, like a scene from a youth movie. He wondered to himself, Why was Kim Jun-han blessed with looks, physique, and everything else?

While lost in thought, Park Dong-sik noticed Kim Jun-han extending his hand, suggesting they leave.

After finishing their park date and returning home, the security guards’ expressions were unusual. Kim Jun-han’s expression also darkened as he received their report. Following him in through the door, Park Dong-sik was at a loss for words.

Kim Tae-han, who was supposedly locked up at the main house, sat casually on the sofa waving.

    “Hi, Hee-soo.”

Park Dong-sik couldn’t close his mouth at Kim Tae-han’s state. His head was bandaged, and bruising had spread to his cheeks, turning them a dark purple. Judging by Kim Jun-han’s reaction, he already knew about this.

Park Dong-sik hurried to check on Kim Tae-han’s condition.

“Hey, what happened to you? Don’t tell me…”

Park Dong-sik glanced at Kim Jun-han and whispered.

    “Did Jun-han hit you?”

    “No, Father…”

Ah….Actually, it wasn’t that surprising. Given Kim Tae-han’s behavior toward Chairman Kim, he’d thought someday he’d get caught and beaten badly. But to beat his child this severely? Looking closer, his face was gaunt, his lips cracked like a desert with scabs forming.

    “Why did he hit you?”

He didn’t answer that question, just lowered his eyes and kept his lips tightly sealed like a guilty person.

“I’m dying to know. Tell me.”

Kim Tae-han bit his lip before speaking.

    “Hee-soo, I…”

Footsteps approached, and suddenly Kim Jun-han was standing behind them.

    “A half-dead man came here?”

Kim Tae-han ignored him and looked up at Park Dong-sik.

“Hee-soo. I’m dizzy and in pain. Can I lie down?”

He said that he felt like the back of his head was being pricked with needles. Saying no seemed cruel given his pitiful state, but saying yes was scary with Kim Jun-han there. Ah, he’d been free from these vampires for a while, and now it was starting again…

Still, he was glad to see Kim Tae-han after several days.

    “I’ll get you a pillow.”

When Park Dong-sik disappeared into the bedroom, Kim Jun-han looked down at Kim Tae-han with fierce eyes. He was incredulous that he’d come here after causing such trouble.

    “What are you thinking?”

“When have you ever seen me think?”

    “Leave while I’m asking nicely.”

Kim Tae-han stayed motionless with his eyes closed. Kim Jun-han tilted his head back and gritted his teeth. Just as he was about to drag him out, Park Dong-sik emerged from the bedroom with a pillow.

Kim Tae-han groaned with every movement he made, and Park Dong-sik furrowed his brow.

“Tae-han, are you okay? Want to sleep in the bed?”

    Kim Jun-han immediately responded.

“The bed is not an option.”

“But he’s hurting. If we just let him lie down—”

    “Try it, I dare you.”

Park Dong-sik flinched at the stern threat. He’d been so gentle and sweet lately, but of course, that temper couldn’t have gone far.

“He’s in pain. It doesn’t seem right to make him sleep here…”

Though he mumbled in protest, it had no effect. Meanwhile, Kim Tae-han suddenly got a nosebleed. They quickly found tissues to stop it, but it wouldn’t cease, and Park Dong-sik worriedly tended to him.

    “Hey. Lower your head, quickly.”

While pressing firmly above his nostrils, Park Dong-sik turned to Kim Jun-han.

“CEO Kim. Something’s wrong with him? Did the head injury mess him up?”

Kim Jun-han pretended not to hear, and Park Dong-sik continued to urge him.

“Quickly come help to stop it. You’d be better at this than me.”

Kim Jun-han let out a long sigh and reluctantly approached. He seemed to decide that helping himself was better than watching them together. When Park Dong-sik stood up, Kim Jun-han pinched Kim Tae-han’s nose with his thumb and index finger.

    Kim Tae-han grimaced and shouted.

    “That hurts!”

Kim Jun-han applied more pressure until veins showed on his hand.

“Ugh, are you trying to stop the bleeding? Or break my nose?”

“I’m barely holding back from doing worse, so shut up.”

Park Dong-sik went to the kitchen and searched the refrigerator for ice to make an ice pack.

Meanwhile, the bickering continued in the living room. Kim Tae-han’s complaints about pain and Kim Jun-han’s cold responses kept echoing.
