This little incident, which was neither painful nor itchy, was quickly forgotten by He Linzhou. If it weren’t for running into Wen Xunchuan again a week later, he would have almost forgotten the guy even existed.

Today, He Linzhou was rare in a full-on, serious suit, his hair neatly combed, sitting upright at a dinner with his father and some company directors.

    “Linzhou, greet Uncle Yan.”

He Linzhou stood up and poured a drink for the middle-aged man across from him, greeting politely, “Uncle Yan, it’s nice to meet you. A toast to you from this junior.”

The middle-aged man, with a round, chubby face, took the glass with a smile, commenting, “Young Master He really is a fine young man. President He, you’re very fortunate.”

“He’s just a good-for-nothing brat,” He’s father laughed, waving his hand, sighing, “That lazy behavior of his is driving me up the wall, so recently I thought I’d put him in the company to get some real experience.”

Having been locked at home for a week, studying corporate management from morning until night, He Linzhou forced a smile onto his face and said, “I don’t know much yet. If I do something wrong, I hope everyone will be understanding. I’ll do my best to learn from all you uncles.”

Father He raised his hand and gave him a solid slap on the back, saying, “Understanding, my ass! If Linzhou does anything wrong, you should treat him as your own kid and scold him. No need to save face for me, and definitely not for this brat.”

It was pretty clear that President He was aiming to push his son into the company, and the purpose of today’s dinner was probably just to let everyone put a face to the young master. Whatever opinions they might have inside, on the surface, everyone still nodded agreeably, “Of course.”

Midway through the meal, He Linzhou got up, planning to go to the restroom. The restroom was at the east corner of the restaurant, so he needed to walk through the restaurant’s open dining area after leaving the private room.

And that’s when he spotted Wen Xunchuan. Wen was sitting by the window with a girl; they seemed to have just arrived, as there was only a single vase on the table with a lush, vibrant red rose in it.

Wen Xunchuan was dressed rather casually, in a light gray knitted jacket over a white crew-neck T-shirt. His light flax-colored hair sat softly on his head, clearly without much effort spent on styling.

In contrast, the girl sitting across from him seemed to have put a lot more thought into the meeting. She wore a dress in a lotus-pink shade, her makeup was perfectly done, and her sleek, jet-black hair flowed smoothly over her shoulders. Sitting in the backlit window, He Linzhou couldn’t even spot a single stray hair on her.

He Linzhou adjusted his direction, taking a detour to pass by their table, casually eavesdropping as he walked.

The girl had a graceful, fitting smile, and her voice was as gentle as her appearance, asking softly, “I heard from Aunt Zhao that you’re a doctor?”

“Mm,” Wen Xunchuan nodded, not elaborating on the topic. He joked instead, “Going on a blind date as soon as you’re back in the country?”

“My family’s pressuring me,” the girl sighed, her tone a half-joking self-mockery, “They say if I don’t get married soon, I won’t get married at all.”

“Oh, no way. A pretty girl like you? That’s impossible,” Wen Xunchuan laughed.

As He Linzhou walked past them, he couldn’t help but glance back, only to lock eyes with Wen Xunchuan, who looked up at the same moment.

The faint smile in Wen Xunchuan’s eyes vanished instantly, and their gazes brushed past each other as if nothing had happened.

Wen Xunchuan looked away with an indifferent expression, while He Linzhou turned back and continued toward the restroom.

    A blind date?

This damn guy… planning to scam someone into marriage?
