    Chapter 27

As if he had come down with a fever, his body grew hot. At that moment, the phone on the counter table rang loudly.

    “…Yes, this is the counter.”

Barely managing to answer, Heeseong parted his drying lips with effort.

“This is room 204. We rented by the hour, but we want to change it to an overnight stay.”

    “Yes….”

Heeseong lightly shook his dizzy head and tried to recall what Daesik had taught him. To change from a short stay to an overnight stay, he just needed to inform them to pay the price difference.

“Then we just need to pay thirty thousand won more, right?”

Thankfully, the voice on the other end spoke first.

    “Yes. That’s correct.”

    “Alright.”

The call ended first, and only then did Heeseong finally release the breath he had been holding as he set the receiver down. His hand trembled violently as he did so.

His lower abdomen tightened sharply, and his body began to heat up rapidly. His vision spun. Around then, Heeseong instinctively realized that his heat cycle had started.

    Ah, not now…. This can’t happen now….

Even as he panted, Heeseong reached for the phone on the table to contact Daesik. Fine beads of sweat had already formed on his forehead. His back had long since grown damp with cold sweat.

    “Hah….”

Just as he found Daesik’s number and was about to press it, Heeseong froze. The fact that Daesik was a dominant alpha surfaced in his mind.

    Ah.

“Pyo Daesik, that bastard’s a dominant alpha, so he’s perfect for breeding.”

    I can’t call the boss….

Having reached that thought with difficulty, Heeseong slowly pushed himself up. Even that was too much, and he had to cling to the chair with trembling arms. But the chair could not support his weight and toppled over with a loud crash, sending Heeseong stumbling and falling hard to the floor.

    “Ah….”

The skin on his palm scraped against the floor, but he had no time to care about that. A far greater pain crashed over him.

The dizziness and heat he felt earlier were nothing in comparison as a searing pain surged through his entire body all at once. It felt like he was boiling from the inside, while his skin grew so sensitive that even the air brushing against him felt painful.

    “Hngh….”

Barely exhaling, he crawled across the floor toward a corner. It was an instinctive movement driven by the need to stay hidden.

“If your heat cycle hits while you’re outside, you absolutely have to hide. Got it? If you don’t, something terrible will happen.”

His brother’s voice rang loudly in his ears.

“Make sure you take your meds every time.”

    “Yeah, I know.”

Their conversation echoed vividly in his ears. Ever since before leaving the orphanage, his brother’s warnings had continued, and Heeseong had never forgotten to take his medicine.

But the medicine he had been taking all this time was cheap and had severe side effects. Because of that, his heat cycle had triggered earlier than expected, though Heeseong did not know it.

With shaking limbs and spinning vision, he crawled toward the deepest corner. Flailing his arms and legs, he reached Daesik’s spot at the very back, pushed the chair aside, and slipped under the desk. Curling his body tightly, Heeseong prayed again and again that his heat cycle would pass safely.

Leaving Heeseong behind, Daesik headed straight underground as soon as he arrived at Taebaek Hall. The deals Jang Chiwon brokered took place on both the upper and underground floors, but the dangerous work usually happened below.

This time, the deal was with a new party. If everything wrapped up smoothly, he planned to immediately check the port where the goods would come in, which was why he had no choice but to leave Heeseong alone. Of course, he had left Kyunghoon behind just in case.

The deal ended faster than expected. Following the other party’s guidance, Daesik headed to the port. While checking documents in the car, his tablet vibrated faintly.

When he checked, it was a notification from the security system installed in the office. It alerted him if intense movement was detected inside. Leaving an omega like Heeseong alone had made him uneasy, so he had installed it while Heeseong was away.

Truthfully, Daesik did not need to go this far just to have Heeseong work. But instead of making him quit, Daesik had chosen another solution. This time too, it was simply because he wanted to keep an eye on Heeseong, who had approached him.

Daesik immediately pulled up the office camera feed. The view of the office appeared, and at the same time, the overturned chair and Heeseong crawling across the floor came into view.

    “……”

Daesik’s face hardened. One look told him that Heeseong’s condition was far from normal. Checking the cameras outside the office as well, he saw no other threats. Which meant Heeseong had suddenly ended up like that on his own.

For someone who was not a drug addict, there was only one possible reason.

    “Turn the car around. Now.”

At Daesik’s command, the sound of tires screeching as they turned sharply followed at once.

Meanwhile, two hours after Daesik had left the office, Kyunghoon finished his work underground and headed toward the counter.

“Check once every hour. See if anything’s going on.”

    “Yes, sir.”

“Don’t scare him. Make it subtle.”

    “Yes.”

Following Daesik’s instructions, Kyunghoon casually passed by the counter once every hour, or stepped outside pretending to smoke before returning. Each time, Heeseong bowed politely, and Kyunghoon returned the greeting just as courteously.

Nothing seemed wrong the first two times. But the third time, Kyunghoon noticed that Heeseong was not at his spot. Thinking he might be in the restroom, he checked there, but Heeseong was not there either.

    What is this?

Sensing something was off, Kyunghoon spotted a chair knocked over beyond the counter window. Just as he was about to open the office door, certain that something had happened, his phone rang. It was Daesik.

    “Yes, Boss.”

“Don’t go inside. Just stand guard out front. Close the windows.”

At Daesik’s words, Kyunghoon immediately realized this was no ordinary situation.

    “Yes, understood.”

After hanging up, Kyunghoon shut the windows and stood in front of the door to block entry. Not long after, Daesik arrived.

The moment he stepped inside the motel, Daesik frowned. Even with the windows and doors closed, a faint scent of pheromones lingered in the air.

The sweet fragrance spread as if it might melt him, like standing beneath a cherry tree heavy with fruit. It felt as though juice dripped from each cherry, soaking his entire body, making him want to be drenched in it.

If it was spreading this much, then my guess was right. Fucking careless. Clicking his tongue, he opened the door and stepped inside.

He saw the overturned counter chair and the fallen pen, but Heeseong was nowhere in sight. After firmly closing the door, Daesik’s sharp gaze swept rapidly through the office.

Then his eyes stopped abruptly in one place.

    His own spot.

    “Ha.”

So he hid there. Of all places. Twisting his lips, he strode toward it.

The closer he got, the thicker the cherry scent became, dense enough to melt his brain. It felt like his mouth was already full of it.

As if he were a beast drawn to the scent of fruit, Daesik’s steps quickened.

As he got closer, faint moans reached his ears.

    “Hngh…. Uh….”

That sound. Fuck. Daesik curled his lips into a dangerous smile.

Running a hand through his hair once, Daesik shoved aside the chair that had been pulled out from the desk. The chair scraped loudly as it was pushed all the way to the wall.

Bracing himself against the desk, he looked down. Heeseong was there.

Dazed, damp eyes and a face soaked in cold sweat met his gaze. The scent, sweet to the point of being intoxicating, overflowed from him. He was practically dripping with juice.

Daesik bent down and grabbed Heeseong’s chin as he panted.

    “Yoon Heeseong.”

    “Hngh….”

Heeseong only let out broken moans with unfocused eyes.

    “Heeseong.”

Even when Daesik lightly tapped his cheek, he did not seem to come to his senses. Daesik’s gaze fell on his red, plump lips, parted slightly as moans spilled out.

Staring intently at his pale face and lips, Daesik asked,

“What are you doing here. Hm?”
