The staff member who was absentmindedly watching missed the count. In that gap, Euihyun dashed to the very edge of the structure. A belated shout of “Stop!” came, but only after Euihyun’s outstretched foot had already stepped into thin air.

    “…Ah!”

Someone’s gasp escaped, and immediately Euihyun’s body plummeted. It was nothing short of a freefall. Startled staff members shouted out in unison.

    “Pull!”

    “Uwaak!”

Along with a short scream, the crane whirred to life. The connected wire rapidly wound up. Euihyun’s rapidly descending body bounced upwards like a spring. The sudden jolt caused the harness to pull violently, resulting in excruciating pain. He tried to hide it, but his face crumpled involuntarily.

He opened his tightly shut eyes to find himself dangling in midair. The cells in his body, which had tightened in anticipation of the terrifying accident, refused to relax. As a result, his whole body trembled uncontrollably. The staff members looked up at Euihyun with anxious expressions. They all looked as if they had aged ten years. Soon, the crane began operating again, lowering Euihyun to the ground. The director shouted, somewhat irately,

    “Hey, lower him carefully!”

    “Slowly! Carefully, carefully!”

Everyone chimed in, as if they had planned it. As soon as Euihyun landed on the mat, the wire connected to the harness was removed. As the pressure on his body was released, a throbbing pain spread throughout. His whole body felt as if it were creaking.

“Mr. Jung Euihyun, are you alright? Are you hurt anywhere?”

    “Try rotating your shoulder.”

“Oh dear, what do we do?”

The staff members checked his condition one after another. In the serious atmosphere, some even stamped their feet and started to tear up.

Park Hanyoung, having heard the news, came running in a state of panic.

    “Mr. Euihyun. Are you injured?”

    “…I’m alright.”

He smiled wanly. At first, it had felt like his skin was burning, but the pain gradually subsided. Although a lingering stiffness remained, it was bearable. However, the concern of those around him, including Park Hanyoung, didn’t diminish.

Eventually, the waiting medical staff was called. Park Hanyoung personally helped Euihyun take off his clothes. The areas where the impact had occurred were all flushed red. The doctor moved Euihyun’s arms up and down, and carefully palpated them with his hands to check for any bone damage. Then he gave a brief opinion.

“It would be best to go to the hospital for a thorough examination, but there doesn’t seem to be any damage to the bones or ligaments. It appears you have some abrasions on your shoulder, back, and chest. You’ll probably experience some stiffness and discomfort in the injured areas for a while.”

“Then let’s go to the hospital first.”

Director Moon urged him. Park Hanyoung agreed and helped him put his clothes back on. Euihyun, supported as he stood, hesitated instead of leaving immediately.

“Excuse me, but could I just check the footage we just shot before we go?”

He had been injured due to the production crew’s negligence, so they had every right to prioritize his well-being. Yet, even in that situation, he was worried about the project.

“Ha, who’s going to stop him?”

Director Moon shook his head in disbelief. He unfurled his perpetually furrowed brow and chuckled in amusement.

The two of them moved to the monitor and played back the footage they had just taken. Euihyun’s fall was captured from beginning to end. The framing was steady, and there was nothing awkward about Euihyun’s expressions or movements.

Director Moon replayed the footage. The staff members also gathered around the monitor, their gazes fixed on the screen. Because an accident had actually occurred, and its image was captured so vividly, everything felt incredibly real.

“…It came out well, didn’t it?”

“If we use this as is, it would be amazing, wouldn’t it? But can we use it?”

Whispers rippled through the group. The director remained silent. A troubled expression was visible on his profile as he stared intently at the monitor. Even though Euihyun hadn’t been seriously injured, it would be unreasonable to ask him to perform wire action again. But they couldn’t simply edit and use the accident footage.

Euihyun, who had been sitting silently beside him, spoke up.

“What do you think, Director? Is it okay?”

    “What’s there to say?”

    “Then please use it.”

    “What?”

“Please don’t discard it, but use that cut.”

He expressed his wish with earnest conviction. The director was so taken aback that all he could do was exhale, “Huh.”

He visited the orthopedic clinic, unable to resist Park Hanyoung’s insistence. The diagnosis was the same as the on-site medical team’s assessment.

While Park Hanyoung went to take care of the payment, Euihyun waited on a chair in a deserted hallway. Jung Eijin, sitting right next to him, was constantly fiddling with her phone. Judging by her giggling, she seemed to be exchanging messages with her friends. Suddenly, she gasped and covered her mouth.

    “Oppa, there’s an article!”

    “What article?”

“An article about you, Oppa. Jung Euihyun displays fighting spirit despite injury during filming.”

Jung Eijin abruptly shoved her phone in front of him. The article, with the aforementioned title, briefly mentioned today’s accident. He wasn’t sure how the story had leaked out. He felt a little awkward.

“Something like this warrants an article?”

“Of course, it’s news. Last time, when you and Cha Yiljoo went out to eat, you got tons of pictures and videos taken, and articles popped up everywhere. Now you’re a walking, talking news generator.”

Jung Eijin lifted her chin and bragged. Then, saying, “I have to leave a comment,” she started typing busily on her keypad. He was about to tell her not to when he suddenly felt a presence beside him. He turned his head in surprise and made eye contact with a woman in a wheelchair. The woman greeted him.

    “Oh my, hello.”

He had never seen her before. Nevertheless, he instinctively bowed.

    “Ah, yes. Hello.”

A smile spread across the woman’s initially bewildered face. Her eyes sparkled, and her cheeks flushed slightly.

“How do I see you here? I’m a huge fan of Mr. Jung Euihyun. I’ve watched every project you’ve been in.”

    “Thank you.”

He offered an awkward smile. He didn’t know how to react to people who recognized him and approached him like this. He simply couldn’t handle it as smoothly as Cha Yiljoo did. He looked to his side for help, but Jung Eijin was just smiling smugly.

“By the way, what brings you here? Are you ill? Are you hurt?”

“No. I just came to see someone I know…”

He made an excuse to avoid unnecessary concern. The woman just smiled and said, “I see.” Her hands continued to fiddle with her phone. She seemed to be hesitating about whether to ask him for something or not.

    “…Should I take a picture for you?”

    “Oh, really? Is it okay?”

She had a look of pure joy on her face. Jung Eijin stepped up, saying, “I’ll take it for you.” The woman’s hand trembled as she handed over her phone. Her background screen was a picture of Euihyun from a photoshoot, confirming she was a genuine fan. Jung Eijin’s smile widened even further.

The woman struggled to position her wheelchair next to Euihyun’s chair. Euihyun, after watching for a moment, quickly stood up and adjusted the wheelchair himself. Then, instead of sitting back down, he lowered himself to meet the woman at eye level.

    “Okay, take it.”

Jung Eijin pressed the shutter twice in a row.

    “Wow, I’m so happy.”

The woman, having received her phone back, was overjoyed. A slight tremble of emotion was audible in her voice as she thanked him. He felt shy, yet his heart inexplicably softened, wondering why she was so happy to see him.

    Park Hanyoung returned shortly after.

“Mr. Euihyun, I’m all done. Let’s go.”

    “Yes.”

He was about to follow her when he turned back to the woman.

    “Get well soon.”

    “Yes. I’ll keep supporting you.”

He bowed deeply and started walking. Jung Eijin, walking beside him, kept humming happily.

“That unnie must have been feeling really down because of her injury, but she’ll feel better today. She met her lucky star. I thought she was just being polite, but she really is your fan.”

He listened to her chatter as they descended to the underground parking lot. Kim Munseong was waiting for them. The car was warm inside, thanks to the heater he had turned on earlier.

During the drive, Park Hanyoung looked over the medical receipt and the prescribed medications, explaining as she went.

“They prescribed painkillers and topical medication. They said there’s nothing else they can do for bruises. Apparently, rest is the best thing. Although it’s not a serious injury, there might be unavoidable schedule changes, so I’ll report it to the CEO as well.”

“Isn’t the CEO on a business trip abroad?”

“Yes. But he told me to report any important matters immediately.”

“Is the CEO’s business trip related to Mr. Yiljoo’s work, by any chance?”

    “Probably. I think they’re together.”

Park Hanyoung replied casually. If Simon Kim heard the news, it would only be a matter of time before Cha Yiljoo found out. Even though it was nothing serious, he would worry needlessly.

“I… it’s a minor injury, so wouldn’t it be okay not to contact him?”

    “He’ll find out eventually anyway.”

“I don’t want him to worry needlessly, and I feel bad.”

“Are you afraid he’ll scold you? It wasn’t your fault that you got hurt, Mr. Euihyun.”

Park Hanyoung chuckled. Her hands persistently searched for Simon Kim’s contact information. Unlike usual, Euihyun persistently tried to persuade her.

“It’s nothing serious. Everyone’s being so considerate, both on set and now, and it makes me feel embarrassed and pressured. Please wait a few more days and tell him if things don’t get better.”

Park Hanyoung turned around, puzzled. She knew he disliked causing trouble for others, but today he seemed particularly insistent.

“Hmm, but I might get reprimanded for dereliction of duty.”

As she hesitated, Euihyun’s face fell slightly. Park Hanyoung considered it a bit longer and then proposed a condition.

“Alright. Let’s wait until you’ve recovered to report it. But you have to tell me immediately if you feel any discomfort, okay? I’ll really get in trouble if something happens to you, Mr. Euihyun.”

    “Yes, I will.”

He even nodded his head, making a firm promise. Park Hanyoung put her phone away. Only then did he breathe a sigh of relief.

He had promised to take care of himself, so he couldn’t worry Cha Yiljoo over such a trivial matter. Although movement was a bit uncomfortable, and there was a dull ache, it wasn’t unbearable. It was nothing compared to the time he had fractured his arm.

He leaned back in his seat. He habitually took out his phone to check the time. The time in New York was displayed simultaneously on the screen. It was only around 3 AM in New York. He fiddled with his phone for a while before putting it back in his pocket. He stared blankly out the window, and an involuntary sigh escaped his lips.

Back home, he stayed in bed the whole time. What started as a short rest turned into skipping dinner as well. When he tried to get up to wash, his whole body ached. He couldn’t even lift his arm properly, so he attached the showerhead to the wall and let the hot water wash over him. Only then did his stiff muscles seem to loosen up a bit.

After a shower that usually took him 10 minutes but this time stretched to over 30, he stood in front of the sink. He reached for his toothbrush and suddenly saw Cha Yiljoo’s.

‘Mr. Euihyun, you didn’t throw this away.’

He remembered Cha Yiljoo interrupting his shower one day, holding up his old toothbrush. He had asked, ‘This is the one I used before, right?’ seeking confirmation. Upon receiving an affirmative answer, Cha Yiljoo had smiled with evident satisfaction.

    ‘I’m strangely happy about this.’

While brushing his teeth, he gently held Cha Yiljoo’s toothbrush. Even though there was no warmth to feel, he held it for a long time.

After washing up, he went straight to the bedroom. He turned on the heated mattress and lay down inside. The injured areas felt warmer than the rest of his body. He pulled the blanket over his head and tried to sleep.

His phone suddenly rang after some time. Since he hadn’t fallen asleep but had only been tossing and turning, he quickly answered the call.

    “Hello?”

    — Were you sleeping?

Unexpectedly, Cha Yiljoo’s voice came through. He hadn’t even checked the caller ID properly, so he was momentarily stunned.

    — Mr. Euihyun?

“Ah, yes. I was lying down, trying to sleep.”

    — Did I disturb you then?

    “No. I couldn’t sleep.”

He quickly denied it, even waving his hand, though Cha Yiljoo couldn’t see him.

    — Your voice sounds a bit hoarse. Are you sick, by any chance?

“I’m fine. I think it’s because I’ve been lying down for a while.”

    — You haven’t caught a cold or anything?

    “No, nothing like that.”

Cha Yiljoo responded with a skeptical “Hmm.” Only after repeatedly assuring him that he was truly alright could they continue their conversation normally.

    — You had filming today, right?

“Yes. I even did some wire action today.”

    — You didn’t get hurt anywhere, did you?

“…No. I’m perfectly fine. All that practice beforehand paid off. It came out pretty well.”

He lied with difficulty, trying to shift the focus to the outcome. But Cha Yiljoo wasn’t easily fooled.

    — It must have been painful though.

    “It was bearable.”

    — Mr. Euihyun, you have such high tolerance for pain. I can’t feel at ease unless I see it for myself.

Feeling guilty, he fidgeted with the blanket.

Just then, Manager Han’s voice could be heard from the other end of the phone, urging Cha Yiljoo to leave. He was so happy to hear it that he completely forgot that they were living in different time zones and that Cha Yiljoo had a schedule.

He hurriedly wrapped up the conversation.

“Ah, you should be going now.”

    — I guess I should.

Cha Yiljoo expressed deep regret. His sigh-laden tone betrayed his reluctance.

    — What am I going to do? I already miss you.

    “…I miss you too.”

Suddenly, the other end of the phone went silent. Had he sounded too forward? He anxiously endured the silence when Cha Yiljoo asked again, seeking confirmation.

    — What did you say, Mr. Euihyun?

    “I said I miss you…”

Embarrassed, his voice trailed off. Soon, hearty laughter erupted from the other end of the phone.

    — Being apart makes me hear such things from you, Mr. Euihyun.

His tone seemed to have softened considerably. He appeared to be in better spirits. He showered him with affection constantly, yet he was so pleased by such a simple statement. Had he been too aloof all this time, using shyness as an excuse? He needlessly ran a hand through his hair.

    — You really are okay, right? Nothing’s wrong?

Even amidst his amusement, he asked again, his voice laced with concern. He shook his head, even though Cha Yiljoo couldn’t see him.

“Yes. I’m perfectly fine. How about you, Yiljoo?”

    — I’m fine too, except for missing you. How am I supposed to wait seven more days?

Seven more days until he could see Cha Yiljoo. When they parted, he thought it was a short period, but after spending half of it, the remaining half seemed daunting.

As if he could no longer delay his schedule, Cha Yiljoo ended the call, promising to talk again soon.

    — Sleep well, Mr. Euihyun.

A gentle whisper brought a wide smile to his lips.

The call ended shortly after. Silence descended upon the room once more. He stared at his phone, the screen now dark, reflecting his expressionless face. He sighed and pressed it gently against his forehead.

    He truly missed Cha Yiljoo.

    🎥

The long-awaited departure day had arrived. The prospect of attending his first international film festival, coupled with the thought of seeing Cha Yiljoo, had kept him up almost all night. He had to stay in Berlin for five days before heading straight to Nepal, making packing more complicated than usual.

As he double-checked his luggage for anything he might have missed, the doorbell rang. Without checking who it was, he opened the door. He had received a message from Park Hanyoung telling him approximately when she would arrive. Today, both Park Hanyoung and Kim Munseong had come up, intending to help him with his bags.

    “Is this all your luggage?”

    “Yes. I’ll take it.”

“Don’t be silly. What if you aggravate your injury?”

Park Hanyoung brushed him aside and, along with Kim Munseong, carried his suitcase, backpack, and other belongings outside. He had no choice but to follow. Suddenly, Jung Eijin barged in and scanned him from head to toe with a hawk-like gaze. Euihyun was wearing a black wool coat over a white t-shirt, paired with simple black jeans.

“Not bad, quite understated. But it’s not enough for a Berlin departure outfit.”

After her serious assessment, she thrust some clothes at him, saying, “Change and come out.” Jung Eijin had given him a black hooded sweatshirt with a print and casual-fit slacks. He was pushed into his room without a chance to refuse. When he came back out after changing, she sat him down on a dining chair and expertly dried his slightly damp hair. She finished styling it quickly without any hair products and then put a checked long coat on him. As if that weren’t enough, she pushed aside the sneakers Euihyun had intended to wear and placed a pair of different sneakers before him.

Since he had already changed, he put on the shoes without complaint. He carefully tied the laces, ensuring they were even, but Jung Eijin, who had been watching, untied them and retied them herself, creating a seemingly haphazard knot that looked surprisingly chic.

After scanning him once more, Jung Eijin nodded exaggeratedly. Just before they left the house, she took a picture of him and giggled with satisfaction.

Once in the van, she forced a neck pillow around his neck, claiming his hair would get flattened otherwise. She then went on and on about the importance of airport fashion. Park Hanyoung chuckled, shaking her head, and said, “Let’s go.” The van started moving, and all the lights inside turned off. He wanted to get some sleep during the ride, but his heart pounded too excitedly.

    “We’ve arrived.”

He snapped out of his reverie after staring out the window for a long time. Park Hanyoung remarked, “There are a lot of reporters here.” A Korean film being nominated for an international film festival was a rare occurrence, attracting significant media attention. He had been informed that there would be interviews beforehand and press coverage at the airport, but he hadn’t realized the scale of it.

Park Hanyoung turned around and asked, “Ready? Shall we go out?”

    “Ah, yes.”

    “Oppa, wait. Wear these.”

As he reached for his backpack, Jung Eijin handed him a pair of rimless glasses. When he just stared blankly at them, she kindly stretched out and put them on him.

    “Perfect! Let’s go now.”

The van door finally opened. Jung Eijin and Park Hanyoung exited first, followed by Euihyun. Immediately, a wave of murmurs and camera flashes erupted. Across the street, a huge crowd had gathered at the entrance to the departure terminal. They were all holding cameras. It seemed like many media outlets had come to cover the event. The sheer number was overwhelming, impossible to count at a glance.

While waiting for the traffic light to change, a barrage of camera flashes went off. Standing there dazed, he instinctively bowed. The sound of shutters intensified. As a precaution, the guards and police officers who were on standby at the airport escorted Euihyun and his group to the departure gate. They inched forward, pushing through the throng of reporters. Questions about his feelings and aspirations, along with requests for greetings, flooded in, but it was difficult to make out anything clearly.

After briefly completing the departure procedures, he and Park Hanyoung headed towards the private exit. Cameras persistently followed them. Only when they reached the exit did the cameras finally retreat, unable to follow any further. Still, requests to look their way, say something, or offer a greeting poured in. Unable to ignore the clamor, he turned around. Countless cameras and people were all watching him. They had all been waiting there since early just to catch a glimpse of him. The thought made him bow deeply, first to the left, then to the center, and finally to the right.

“Thank you for coming. I’ll be back soon.”

Flashes erupted from all directions. He repeatedly bowed to the people waving enthusiastically and entered the gate.

As he arrived at the airline lounge after completing all the procedures, all the strength drained from his limbs. The thought of a long-haul flight after such a long time felt daunting. This time, he had a layover as well, making it even more overwhelming.

Jung Eijin was in high spirits, seemingly excited about her first overseas business trip. She had laid out a generous spread of lounge food and chattered away.

“This is my first time going to Europe. How about you, Oppa?”

    “Yes, me too.”

“I heard that when you go to Europe, you just let the flight attendants take care of you for half a day. You eat, sleep, wake up and have a snack, play a bit, sleep again, wake up when they tell you it’s time to eat, and fill your stomach again. And before you know it, you’ve arrived. Sounds amazing, right?”

    Indeed, it sounded overwhelming.

They arrived in Frankfurt, their layover destination, around 2 PM. After more than ten hours of flying, the feeling of the ground beneath his feet felt strange. His legs seemed swollen. Without a moment to catch their breath, they moved on to board their connecting flight to Berlin. Just as they reached the gate, a surprised gasp escaped Euihyun’s lips.

    “…Oh.”

An unexpected person had caught his eye. Despite the deeply pulled-down hat, there was no mistaking him. Jung Eijin and Park Hanyoung also wore surprised expressions.

    “It’s been a while.”

It was none other than Cha Yiljoo who greeted them first. Manager Han, sitting next to him, nodded his head. He wondered how Cha Yiljoo had ended up here. He hadn’t said anything before they left.

Park Hanyoung, on behalf of Euihyun, voiced their genuine curiosity.

“How did Mr. Cha Yiljoo end up here…?”

“I overslept. I had no choice but to change my flight, and coincidentally, our connecting flights overlapped.”

    “Wow, that’s incredibly coincidental.”

Jung Eijin expressed her amazement openly. Cha Yiljoo smiled faintly and then turned his gaze to Euihyun. As their eyes met, his eyes crinkled softly.

As boarding time approached, they boarded the plane first. Thanks to Park Hanyoung switching seats, they were able to sit together.

    “Are you tired?”

“I forced myself to sleep on the way here, but I’m still a bit dazed. How about you, Yiljoo?”

“I lazed around a bit before departure, so I’m feeling alright.”

    “…What?”

“I wanted to see your face as soon as possible, even if it was just for an hour.”

He whispered, smiling mischievously. It sounded as though he had intentionally delayed his departure. His playful eyes confirmed Euihyun’s suspicions. He stared blankly at Cha Yiljoo before quickly lowering his head, worried his face might be flushed or that he might have made a strange expression.

Around that time, drinks were served. Cha Yiljoo took a glass of water and placed his hand on the armrest, lightly touching Euihyun’s hand, which was already resting there. Cha Yiljoo didn’t move his hand until they landed. Their physical contact became more discreet, befitting a public space. Euihyun didn’t mind the feeling, so he stayed quiet without making a fuss.

As they arrived in Berlin and exited to the arrivals hall, representatives from the film festival’s organizing committee were there to greet them. Invited guests were provided with separate interpreters, transportation, and hotel accommodations, so they had to part ways with their group. They separated from Cha Yiljoo as well and boarded their designated vehicles.

The ride to the hotel was said to take about twenty minutes. During the journey, they received a briefing on the services and schedule provided. They were assigned a suite in the luxury hotel where the film festival was being held, and their official schedule would begin the next day.

The interpreter helped him check into the hotel and then guided him to the private elevator for the suites, seemingly intending to show him to his room. While waiting for the elevator, Cha Yiljoo and his group arrived. They pressed the button for the elevator on the opposite side, presumably planning to take a different one. With others present, all they could do was exchange occasional glances.

Euihyun’s elevator reached the lobby first. He quietly stepped inside at the interpreter’s prompting. Cha Yiljoo, who had been watching from outside, called out, “Mr. Euihyun,” catching his attention. He thought Cha Yiljoo might be suggesting a time and place to meet or have dinner later.

However, the words that followed completely defied his expectations.

“Get some rest and I’ll see you tomorrow.”

    “…Ah, yes.”

He replied a beat late. Immediately afterward, the elevator doors closed completely. Cha Yiljoo must also be tired from the long flight. With his schedule packed from early morning tomorrow, it was best for him to focus on recovering. Even though he understood logically, he couldn’t help but feel a pang of disappointment.

The suite, as promised, offered a panoramic view of Berlin and was quite spacious for one person. The interpreter, who described every corner of the room as if reciting a memorized script, finally left after Euihyun’s luggage arrived.

“Please get plenty of rest today, and don’t hesitate to contact me if you need anything.”

    “Yes.”

“Then I’ll see you in the lobby tomorrow morning at 9 AM.”

    “Thank you.”

They bowed to each other. After the interpreter left, only Euihyun and his bags remained in the spacious room. He took out his phone and found a message from Park Hanyoung asking if he had arrived safely. She also inquired about his dinner plans and what he intended to do with his free time. He postponed replying and checked other messages. However, there were no messages from Cha Yiljoo.

He chided himself for expecting something. He scratched the back of his neck awkwardly and went into the bathroom. His whole body felt stiff, and he desperately needed a shower. As the hot water washed over him, the fatigue seemed to melt away.

He put on a robe and was drying his wet hair when the doorbell suddenly rang. Unsure, he turned off the hairdryer and looked towards the door. As if to confirm it wasn’t his imagination, the doorbell rang again. He tilted his head and walked towards the door.

    “Mr. Euihyun.”

Just as he was about to ask who it was, Cha Yiljoo’s voice reached him. He quickly unlocked and opened the door.

    “Are you done showering?”

He answered, “Yes,” with a bewildered look, and Cha Yiljoo gently pushed the door open and came inside. The familiar scent of his lotion filled the air. He noticed Cha Yiljoo’s hair was slightly damp, suggesting he had just showered as well.

When he closed the door and went inside, Cha Yiljoo was sitting on the bed, not on a chair. He extended a hand towards Euihyun, who stood frozen.

    “Come here.”

His tone was gentle, like he was calling a child. Euihyun stared blankly for a moment before slowly approaching him. As he took Cha Yiljoo’s outstretched hand, he was pulled forward forcefully. His legs stumbled against the edge of the bed, and his upper body momentarily collapsed. In that instant, Cha Yiljoo opened his arms and embraced Euihyun tightly. Euihyun, in the midst of falling, wrapped his arms around Cha Yiljoo’s neck. As a result, he ended up sitting on Cha Yiljoo’s lap.

    “Finally, I can hold you.”

Cha Yiljoo murmured languidly, his voice filled with relief. Euihyun, in response, relaxed his tensed body.

“I couldn’t bear another minute without you after hearing you were coming. Did you feel the same, Mr. Euihyun?”

    “…I…”

    “Did you?”

He nudged his forehead against Euihyun’s shoulder, coaxing a response. In a voice barely above a whisper, Euihyun confessed,

“I haven’t slept a wink since last night.”

A soft chuckle escaped Cha Yiljoo’s lips at his honest reply. He then turned and gently laid Euihyun down on the bed. Euihyun’s view slowly, yet completely, inverted. Cha Yiljoo’s face filled his vision. His heart pounded.

Cha Yiljoo gazed intently at Euihyun’s face for a moment, as if memorizing every feature – his eyes, nose, and mouth. He gently stroked Euihyun’s cheek with his thumb and then lowered his head to place a light kiss on his lips.

“Then I’ll have to help you sleep.”

Euihyun’s face flushed at the whispered words. Cha Yiljoo kissed his lips again, repeatedly, softly. Euihyun’s eyes fluttered closed. His body tensed involuntarily. He knew what would follow from their past experiences.

However, even after some time, his robe wasn’t removed, nor were his sensitive areas touched. Instead, the blanket was pulled up to his neck, tucking him in securely. Cha Yiljoo lay down beside him, propped up on one arm.

Euihyun looked at Cha Yiljoo with a puzzled expression. Cha Yiljoo took his hand and intertwined their fingers, then gently pressed his lips against the back of Euihyun’s hand.

“I’ll be content with this for now.”

    “Ah…”

Gazing at Euihyun warmly, he said, “Sleep well.” His voice was so calm and sweet that it seemed to induce sleepiness.

His body was relaxed from the warm shower. His mind was exhausted from the long flight. Clean, soft bedding enveloped him comfortably, and the warmth of his beloved was close by. Could there be a more comfortable environment?

Euihyun’s eyelids grew heavy as he looked at Cha Yiljoo. His eyelids, which had been fluttering open and closed, finally closed silently. Cha Yiljoo, watching him, lay down on the pillow and pulled Euihyun closer, embracing him. Euihyun, half-awake from his light sleep, stirred slightly.

    “Shh, good boy.”

He soothed him in a drowsy voice, successfully turning Euihyun so that his head rested on Cha Yiljoo’s arm. Euihyun’s body nestled deeper into Cha Yiljoo’s embrace. His even breaths tickled Cha Yiljoo’s neck. A gentle smile spread across Cha Yiljoo’s lips. He gazed at the sleeping Euihyun for a long time, seemingly never tiring of the sight.

No matter how much he looked, he couldn’t quite believe it. That he had found Euihyun so serendipitously. That someone like Euihyun had liked him first. And that, in the end, Euihyun had come into his arms without a hitch.

He reached out and caressed Euihyun’s cheek playfully. The deeply asleep Euihyun showed no reaction. He placed a kiss on his smooth forehead. Then, after gazing at him once more, he wrapped his arm around Euihyun’s waist and closed his eyes. Peace settled over him, and sleepiness washed over him.

A sweet drowsiness completely enveloped his body and consciousness.

    🎥

He slept until his eyes opened naturally and woke up around dawn. Thanks to a good night’s sleep, his mind was clear, and his body felt light. He showered and had breakfast with Cha Yiljoo via room service. As they reminisced over coffee, it was soon time to get ready. Cha Yiljoo returned to his room after receiving a call from Manager Han, and shortly afterward, Park Hanyoung and Jung Eijin arrived. He changed into the clothes he had prepared beforehand and had his hair and makeup done.

A packed schedule awaited him for the next two days, including the official press conference, the film festival red carpet event, the screening, interviews, and various dinners. As the press conference, the first event of the day, approached, his fingertips grew cold, and he felt nervous.

Cha Yiljoo, who had finished getting ready first, came to his room. He always carried off any outfit as if it were tailor-made for him, but today felt different. His round-neck t-shirt, casual suit, and dynamic hairstyle exuded an air of unrestrained freedom, unburdened by formality.

Jung Eijin, having finished Euihyun’s preparations, started cleaning up. As she moved aside, his eyes met Cha Yiljoo’s. He was leaning against the wall and approached him with a smile. He slowly ran his long fingers along Euihyun’s tie. Euihyun could only follow the movement with his eyes, frozen in place.

“Your tie seems crooked. Shall I retie it for you?”

    “Ah, I can do it…”

Before he could protest, Cha Yiljoo’s fingers hooked onto the knot and pulled it loose. The tie came undone. His movements as he retied it were swift and practiced.

He lightly pressed the now neatly tied tie. The gentle pressure made his heart flutter inexplicably. He averted his gaze slightly and thanked him.

“Alright, it’s time. Let’s go down.”

Park Hanyoung clapped her hands, urging them on. As he had said, it was almost 9 AM, the time they had agreed to meet the interpreter. He took a deep breath and stood up.

They met the interpreter in the lobby and headed to the hotel banquet hall where the press conference would be held. He exchanged pleasantries with Director Park, who was already there. Although Cha Yiljoo’s animosity towards him remained, he didn’t show it openly.

The banquet hall was packed with reporters, both domestic and foreign. They stood in front of the photo wall and took a few pictures. Cameras resembling bazookas fired flashes in rapid succession.

As soon as the photo session ended, they were guided to the table where the interviews would take place. Nameplates and microphones were set up at each seat. After taking their seats according to their names, they each gave a brief introduction.

“I’m Park Junghyun, director of <Salieri>.”

Director Park finished his self-introduction and greeting with just that one sentence. Amidst the barrage of cameras, Cha Yiljoo smiled calmly throughout.

“Hello, I’m Cha Yiljoo. It’s my first time being invited to a film festival with a Korean film, and it feels quite special. Thank you for your interest in our film. We worked incredibly hard on it, to the point where I wouldn’t dare do it all over again, and it’s an excellent piece of work, so I hope you enjoy it.”

The shutter speed increased dramatically as he spoke. This was likely because he was a well-known face to the international press.

When his turn came, Euihyun bowed his head and gave a formal greeting.

“Hello. I’m actor Jung Euihyun, who played the role of ‘Myeongshin’ in <Salieri>.”

The combination of a famous director and a famous actor was anticipated, but not novel. Rather, it was the unknown actor caught between them who piqued curiosity. The blue-eyed reporters captured Euihyun’s image meticulously with their cameras. This interest continued into the Q&A session.

Initially, the questions were directed at Director Park. In-depth questions and answers were exchanged about the inspiration behind the film, the music used, the filming techniques employed and their intentions, and the ultimate message he wanted to convey through the film.

Cha Yiljoo, like Director Park, remained composed throughout. He answered smoothly, as if he had been anticipating any question, about how he came to star in Director Park’s film, his initial impressions of the script, any particularly memorable scenes, and why the audience should choose <Salieri> among the many options available.

The spotlight shifted to Euihyun when the atmosphere had warmed up. Several reporters expressed their desire to ask questions. The first opportunity was given to a British reporter.

“Mr. Jung Euihyun, this is the first time I’ve seen your work. Was there a separate casting audition?”

“No. I had the honor of debuting in the director’s work about ten years ago, and I think it was thanks to that connection that I was able to participate in this film as well.”

“Excuse me, but what was the title of your debut film?”

    “It was called <Mia>.”

A French reporter followed up with another question.

“I heard that the last scene of the film was completed with your ad-lib. Could you tell us about the circumstances that led to that ad-lib?”

“It wasn’t so much an ad-lib as a small idea that extended from the existing scenario. When I first encountered the work, and throughout filming, I was deeply moved by Yoohan’s emotions. If he were a real person, not a character in the film, I wanted to help him escape the negative emotions that were consuming him. Although the character meets a tragic end in the story, he experiences complete healing in a spiritual sense. I thought it would be good if that moment could be amplified. It’s a scene that wouldn’t have been possible without the director’s approval.”

He continued to deflect credit to others. Director Park, who had been listening, suddenly leaned closer to the microphone and interjected.

“When I just heard about it, I couldn’t tell if it would work or not. And since I was trying to keep it a secret from Mr. Cha Yiljoo, I thought it might just result in NGs and wasted effort. I planned to cut it out if it didn’t work. But he just took what I suddenly fed him and ate it up, didn’t he?”

Laughter erupted from various places at his humorous remark. The stiff atmosphere softened.

“Mr. Cha Yiljoo, you really didn’t know about that scene until you acted it out?”

    “No. Nobody told me.”

    “You must have been surprised.”

“For a moment, I was taken aback, but I quickly forgot about it. I was so immersed in the scene.”

“You were completely absorbed in the story? Then how did you feel when you acted out that scene?”

At the ensuing question, Cha Yiljoo glanced at Euihyun. Their eyes met inadvertently. Cha Yiljoo slowly turned his head towards the cameras and answered.

    “I felt deeply comforted.”

“Would ‘Yoohan,’ the character in the film, have felt the same way?”

    “Absolutely.”

He smiled deeply, conveying certainty. Euihyun bashfully lowered his eyes and smiled shyly. As always, that moment was captured by all the cameras.

The press conference concluded after a full hour. They thanked the press for attending and left the banquet hall.

They had to take a short break and then prepare for the red carpet event. Unlike the press conference, this was a more formal occasion. Afterward, they were also scheduled to attend a party hosted by the organizers.

They headed towards their rooms together. Just as they were passing through the lobby, a flash suddenly went off behind them. As he glanced back, the sound of a shutter echoed again. He looked at Cha Yiljoo with a bewildered expression.

    “Just now…”

    “It was probably a paparazzo.”

    “Are there paparazzi here too?”

“They’re everywhere. Especially at major events like this, they never miss out.”

Come to think of it, a similar situation had occurred in the United States. He had been surprised and fascinated, thinking it was something that only happened in Hollywood. But Cha Yiljoo seemed unfazed, both then and now. In such moments, Cha Yiljoo felt like he belonged to a different world.

The thought of eyes watching them everywhere was unsettling. It made him self-conscious, not only about interacting with Cha Yiljoo but also about every single expression he made. Even the emergency CCTV camera in the elevator felt like a burden. He suddenly felt both sympathy and admiration for Cha Yiljoo, who endured such pressure as a part of his daily life.

That evening, he walked the red carpet with Cha Yiljoo. A crowd of reporters and onlookers, far larger than at the press conference, had gathered. People showered them with applause and cheers, even though they were strangers. It was the moment when his long-held wish to stand in the spotlight with Cha Yiljoo came true.

Without a moment to breathe, they attended the dinner hosted by the chairman of the film festival’s executive committee. It was a party attended by prominent figures in the film industry. From the film festival jury to renowned directors whose names he recognized, actors he had only seen on screen, and famous critics – it felt surreal to be among them.

He accompanied Director Park and was introduced to numerous people. After shaking hands, they exchanged complimentary words. It was an unfamiliar experience, and sometimes even embarrassing, but he accepted it as the norm. Occasionally, when Director Park engaged in deep conversations with acquaintances, he stood beside him and listened quietly. Similar situations unfolded with everyone he met. However, he didn’t feel bored, lost in the surreal atmosphere.

    “Mr. Euihyun.”

He turned his head absently at the sound of his name. Cha Yiljoo approached him and offered him a glass of wine. He reached out to take it, but the glass was pulled back slightly. His hand, which had been holding onto the glass, followed the movement. He looked at Cha Yiljoo quizzically, and Cha Yiljoo smiled faintly and said, “Let’s have a drink together.” He gently tugged on Euihyun’s glass and led him to a nearby balcony. Finally, they found some quiet.

“It’s hard to even exchange a word with you, Mr. Euihyun.”

    “I don’t know what’s going on.”

“Why? You seem to be fitting in well. Everyone seems interested in you, Mr. Euihyun. They’ve been looking for a chance to steal you away.”

“That’s probably because I’m a new face. I met directors I’ve always admired, and I greeted renowned actors… It’s truly an honor.”

He chattered excitedly, his face flushed with pleasure, and his sparkling eyes reflecting his excitement. Cha Yiljoo, watching him with a pleased expression, suddenly clinked his glass against Euihyun’s.

“Someday, the people here will be honored to have shaken hands with you, Mr. Euihyun.”

    “No, how could I…”

Euihyun waved his hand, vehemently denying it. Then, noticing Cha Yiljoo’s intense gaze, he froze for a moment. He slowly lowered his hand. Even though Cha Yiljoo often looked at him with such intensity, he felt strangely embarrassed. He averted his gaze and fidgeted with his glass. He could feel Cha Yiljoo’s focused gaze on him.

“I wish this would end quickly so we could go back.”

Cha Yiljoo murmured languidly. Despite his relaxed tone, a hint of impatience was evident.

    Just then,

    “Yiljoo?”

Their gazes simultaneously turned towards the inside of the balcony. They spotted an unexpected figure there. It was Erika Terajima.

    Why was she here?

No, on second thought, it wasn’t that surprising. Erika Terajima was also a world-renowned actress. Her film could be among the 400 films invited to the festival, or she could have been invited separately by the festival sponsors. He was just flustered by the suddenness of their reunion.

Erika Terajima, after glancing back and forth between Cha Yiljoo and Euihyun, stepped onto the balcony. She lightly took hold of Cha Yiljoo’s arm, displaying familiarity. Her hand, resting on his arm, was slender and pale. Cha Yiljoo, gazing calmly at her hand, spoke first.

    “What brings you here?”

His tone and gaze were utterly indifferent. Terajima didn’t seem to mind.

“Yiljoo, I heard you were coming here.”

She glanced at Euihyun and offered a greeting with a slight bow.

    “Hello.”

    “Yes, hello.”

Terajima replied in brief Korean, tilting her head. She seemed to be trying to recall where she had seen Euihyun before. Considering she had been completely drunk at the time, it was understandable that she wouldn’t remember.

He hesitated, wondering if he should introduce himself again, but Terajima fixed her gaze back on Cha Yiljoo. For a while, their conversation continued, a mix of English, Japanese, and Korean, making it impossible for Euihyun to understand the exact content.

However, he could sense that the atmosphere was unusual. Terajima, who had been speaking in a somewhat accusatory tone, suddenly turned to Euihyun. Meeting her resentful gaze, he felt a pang of inexplicable guilt.

    “Ah, I apologize.”

He had been listening absentmindedly to their private conversation, even though he could barely understand it. He apologized for his rudeness and hurriedly tried to excuse himself. Or rather, he attempted to. Cha Yiljoo stopped him by grabbing his arm.

    “Where are you going?”

    “So you two can talk…”

He replied with an embarrassed expression. Cha Yiljoo didn’t release his arm. Instead, he pulled Euihyun closer to his side.

    “Uh, I…”

Flustered, he glanced at Terajima. She, too, was watching them with a frown. The situation must have been perplexing for her.

Cha Yiljoo glanced at Terajima’s hand still resting on his arm. He then lifted his gaze, met her eyes directly, and demanded,

“Why don’t you take your hand off.”

His tone was calm, but it sounded particularly sharp, which is why Euihyun watched him with surprised eyes. It wasn’t a difficult phrase, so Terajima must have understood its meaning. Even if she hadn’t, she couldn’t have missed the coldness in his eyes.

Yet, she stubbornly held on, even shaking her head.

    “…”

In the next moment, Cha Yiljoo effortlessly brushed off Terajima’s hand with a slight lift of his arm. Then, he turned and walked back into the hall, taking Euihyun with him.

Being pulled along abruptly, Euihyun kept looking back. He was worried that she might be hurt. As expected, Terajima’s slender shoulders slumped. Cha Yiljoo’s expression remained unchanged.

He cautiously asked, after repeatedly observing Cha Yiljoo’s demeanor,

    “Are you angry?”

    “Me? Why would I be?”

“The way you treated her just now…”

    “Was I being intimidating again?”

He smiled nonchalantly. Euihyun quickly shook his head.

“No, that’s not it… I just thought she might be hurt.”

    “Mr. Euihyun.”

At the low call of his name, he closed his mouth and looked at Cha Yiljoo. He asked again, still smiling,

“Why should I be nice to someone who isn’t you, Mr. Euihyun?”

    “What?”

“I told you, I don’t like it when you misunderstand. I don’t want to be kind to others in front of you. Is that wrong?”

    “…Ah.”

He opened his mouth, then closed it again. He had nothing to say in response. He already knew about Cha Yiljoo and Terajima’s past relationship. He wouldn’t doubt Cha Yiljoo, no matter who he met, what he talked about, or what favors he showed. However, he couldn’t guarantee he would be completely unaffected emotionally.

    “Shall we go back now?”

Cha Yiljoo checked his watch and asked for his opinion. The screening, interviews, and another party were scheduled for tomorrow. It seemed best to return and rest early.

    He nodded and looked around.

“I think we should say goodbye to the director before we go.”

“I haven’t seen him since the middle of the party.”

Cha Yiljoo shrugged. As he said, Director Park was nowhere to be seen in the bustling hall. They had no choice but to leave quietly.

As they were about to get into the waiting car, a flash went off somewhere. He followed the sound of the shutter and saw a van hidden in the darkness. Judging by the way they were hiding and taking pictures secretly, they were most likely paparazzi. As he continued to glance in that direction, Cha Yiljoo gently nudged him forward.

    “Don’t mind them.”

“Is it okay for them to take pictures like that?”

“It’s not okay, but they’ll do it anyway. It’s better to ignore them.”

Euihyun stared at the van, which continued taking pictures without stopping, before getting into the car.

He had thought they would just send the driver, but Park Hanyoung was sitting in the passenger seat. She greeted them with a “Welcome back” as they settled into the backseat.

    “Manager-nim, have you eaten?”

“Of course. What time do you think it is? Did you enjoy the party?”

“Yes. I was introduced to people I never expected to meet.”

Euihyun replied with an excited expression. He recounted who he had met and what conversations he had had. Cha Yiljoo remained silent.

    “Yiljoo, are you feeling unwell?”

Park Hanyoung turned her head and checked his complexion. Cha Yiljoo, who had been looking out the window with his arms crossed, shook his head.

“I had quite a bit of wine, so I have a headache. It’s nothing to worry about.”

    “Are you feeling very bad?”

Euihyun’s previously bright eyes were now filled with concern. Judging by his expression alone, it seemed like Euihyun was the one who was feeling worse. A dry chuckle escaped Cha Yiljoo’s lips.

“No, I’m fine. I’ll close my eyes for a bit, so wake me up when we arrive.”

His eyelids closed. He wouldn’t have shown it usually, so he must be feeling quite unwell. Was that why he had wanted to go back? Euihyun hadn’t noticed anything, too caught up in the excitement of the moment.

He fidgeted restlessly during the ride back to the hotel. His gaze, constantly checking on Cha Yiljoo, was filled with anxiety. A long silence settled over the car.

“Mr. Euihyun, how’s your injury? Doesn’t it hurt anymore?”

Park Hanyoung asked, as if just remembering. Euihyun’s heart sank. His head immediately turned towards Cha Yiljoo. As if on cue, Cha Yiljoo opened his eyes. He had clearly heard what Park Hanyoung had just said. Worried that he might ask for details, Euihyun hurriedly tried to cover it up.

    “I’m fine now…”

“Injury? What are you talking about?”

    Cha Yiljoo interrupted Euihyun.

    “It’s nothing.”

He denied it without taking a breath. But Cha Yiljoo didn’t seem convinced. He asked Park Hanyoung again,

    “Did something happen?”

He looked anxiously at Park Hanyoung. Unaware of Euihyun’s feelings, Park Hanyoung spoke freely.

“Oh, actually, he got injured while doing wire action the other day. His bones and ligaments are fine, but he has bruises and abrasions all over his upper body. The doctor said the pain could last for seven days, or even close to a month in the worst-case scenario.”

“I haven’t heard anything about that from Kim. What happened?”

“I was going to report it right after it happened, but Mr. Euihyun kept telling me not to because you would worry. I informed the CEO separately yesterday.”

Cha Yiljoo looked at Euihyun again. Feeling guilty, Euihyun felt like he was being reprimanded. He offered a belated explanation.

    “It wasn’t a serious injury…”

Cha Yiljoo stared intently at the stammering Euihyun before turning his head away without a word. It was dark outside, so his face was clearly reflected in the window. Unlike usual, his expression was cold and hard. Euihyun couldn’t tell if it was simply because he was feeling unwell or because he was angry. He felt ashamed, as if it were all his fault.

The car soon arrived at the hotel. It was too late, so they decided to part ways with Park Hanyoung in the lobby. Park Hanyoung repeatedly checked on Cha Yiljoo.

“Are you sure you don’t need to go to the hospital?”

“Yes. It’s a mild migraine. I have my usual medication in my room.”

“Then please make sure to take it before you go to sleep. I’ll let Manager Han know. And Mr. Euihyun, please let me know immediately if you feel any discomfort. You both worked hard today. I’ll come to your room around 1 PM tomorrow, so please rest until then.”

    “Have a safe trip back.”

After seeing Park Hanyoung off, they headed towards the private elevator for their rooms. Cha Yiljoo remained silent, both while waiting for the elevator and inside. He just stood there, silently observing the heavy silence. Finally, Euihyun expressed his deep concern.

    “Are you alright?”

“Don’t worry. It’s not my body that’s uncomfortable.”

It was a strange answer, especially the nuance.

While he hesitated, the elevator came to a stop. The doors opened on Euihyun’s floor, but Cha Yiljoo didn’t move. The previously warm air suddenly felt as if it were mixed with ice shards.

As neither of them moved, the doors began to close again. Cha Yiljoo reached out and pressed the open button.

    “Then rest well, Mr. Euihyun.”

    “…Ah.”

He felt as if he had been abruptly dismissed. His chest tightened. But he couldn’t continue to bother someone who was unwell. Even worrying felt selfish and greedy.

He pressed his lips together and forced himself to take a step, slowly exiting and facing Cha Yiljoo.

“Please make sure to take your medicine.”

    “I will. See you tomorrow.”

He stared at Cha Yiljoo, who offered a casual farewell. It felt as though the doors would close any second. Euihyun, who had been looking down with his lips tightly pressed together, suddenly reached out and grabbed Cha Yiljoo’s hand. Startled by the unexpected action, Cha Yiljoo quickly pressed the open button again, his face filled with surprise.

    “Mr. Euihyun? That was close…”

“Are you really sure you’ll be alright? Even without me taking care of you?”

Cha Yiljoo looked at Euihyun, his expression stunned. Euihyun stared back at him, his eyes filled with anxiety, flickering slightly with the fear of rejection. Cha Yiljoo turned his head towards the wall and muttered something unintelligible, “Well…” Then he abruptly pulled Euihyun’s arm, drawing him into a close embrace.

“I think I might recover quickly if you take care of me, Mr. Euihyun.”

He smiled, his eyes softening as if by magic. His tone, too, had become noticeably gentler.

“Tell me where you keep your medicine.”

Euihyun stepped into the room first. Cha Yiljoo didn’t reply, just glanced at his own suitcase. It was closed. Just in case, Euihyun pressed the open button, but it was locked and wouldn’t budge.

“I think I need the password for this.”

He looked back at Cha Yiljoo. He took off his jacket, hung it on a nearby chair, and readily provided the code.

    “3.”

He set the first dial. At that moment, the lights by the door and in the bathroom turned off. As Euihyun looked over absently, he heard another number whispered in his ear.

    “7.”

The main lights in the room and the standing lamp went out next. He looked at Cha Yiljoo with a puzzled expression. He was holding a remote control in his hand, his expression utterly nonchalant. It seemed like he hadn’t turned off the lights by mistake.

    “It’s too dark, Yiljoo.”

    “1.”

Just as Euihyun voiced his objection, the last number was spoken. Simultaneously, the bedside lamp went out. The room was immediately plunged into pitch darkness. The view outside the window was now brighter by comparison.

What had just happened was clearly intentional. He didn’t understand why Cha Yiljoo was playing such a mischievous prank when he was supposedly unwell.

    “Mr. Euihyun.”

    “Yes?”

“I think I have a fever. Come here and feel my forehead, will you?”

    “Let’s get your medicine first…”

“Wouldn’t it be better to diagnose it before taking anything?”

Since it wasn’t a bad idea, he obediently got up and walked towards Cha Yiljoo, gauging his location by his faint silhouette. Cha Yiljoo simply stood still, watching Euihyun approach.

Soon, they were close enough to make out each other’s features. He carefully raised his hand and placed it on Cha Yiljoo’s forehead. It was warm, but not enough to warrant fever medication.

“Fortunately, you don’t have a fever.”

Without suspicion, he withdrew his hand. In that instant, something lunged at him from the darkness. His face was grabbed, and Cha Yiljoo’s lips pressed against his slightly parted ones. A warm, soft tongue parted his lips and slipped inside. Caught off guard by the unexpected intrusion, he opened his mouth involuntarily.

Cha Yiljoo repeatedly licked the underside of Euihyun’s tongue, drawing it out. Then he gently sucked on the tip of his tongue, pulling it in and out slightly. The base of his tongue ached.

    “…Mmm.”

As if that wasn’t enough, Cha Yiljoo nibbled on his tongue and lips. The repeated pangs of pain made him frown. He winced and gripped Cha Yiljoo’s arm tightly. But he didn’t seem to care. He released Euihyun’s chin, which he had been holding tightly, and pulled him closer by the waist. The rough movement pulled his shirt, which had been tucked into his pants, completely out.

Even as he did so, he continued to suck on Euihyun’s tongue and lips, relentlessly, giving him no room to breathe. His mouth filled with warm saliva. He couldn’t even swallow as Cha Yiljoo’s tongue repeatedly invaded his mouth, stirring his warm, wet flesh. His jaw, which had been open the entire time, grew numb. Finally, their mingled saliva dribbled down his chin.

Euihyun, moaning softly, instinctively stepped back. Cha Yiljoo trapped him between his legs, holding him in place. He playfully nibbled on Euihyun’s cheek, as if in retaliation. As Euihyun gasped, he muttered,

“Sometimes, your indifference provokes my mischievous side, Mr. Euihyun.”

    “What?”

Euihyun looked completely bewildered, as if he couldn’t even fathom what the problem was.

    Yes, that was it.

Cha Yiljoo’s gaze slowly drifted downwards, settling on Euihyun’s tie. He reached out a long finger and hooked it around the knot. Euihyun stiffened and looked up. Gazing intently into his eyes, Cha Yiljoo pulled on the tie, undoing it completely. He held the loosened tie up for a moment before letting it drop to the floor. Euihyun’s gaze followed the falling tie.

He gently lifted Euihyun’s chin and kissed him, then pressed his lips against the hollow of his throat. Euihyun, whose eyes had been staring blankly into space, flinched slightly. Cha Yiljoo was kneading his chest over his shirt, his fingers toying with the top button. Hot breaths repeatedly brushed against his neck. His nipples hardened and flattened against the thin fabric of his shirt as Cha Yiljoo rubbed them gently.

    “…Ah…”

A low moan escaped his lips. The ticklish sensation made him feel as though his legs might give way. He grabbed Cha Yiljoo’s hand as if to stop him, but he only kneaded his chest more boldly. Then, with the tip of his tongue, he skillfully unbuttoned the top button.

He swallowed, his Adam’s apple bobbing. Cha Yiljoo captured it with his lips, sucking on it while pinching and rubbing his nipples. Euihyun’s moans grew louder. His trembling body swayed precariously. Cha Yiljoo continued pushing him slowly towards the window, unbuttoning the second and third buttons in the same manner. The cool glass pressed against his back as his shirt gaped open.

Cha Yiljoo’s hand firmly gripped his hip and then moved up his back, slowly tracing the line of his spine before gently capturing his lips in a kiss. Euihyun, who had been watching Cha Yiljoo with a look of apprehension, closed his eyes softly.

Unlike before, Cha Yiljoo’s kiss was infinitely gentle. He softly licked and nibbled at his sensitive lips. The tender kiss sweetened his ragged breaths. Euihyun’s softened lips tentatively touched Cha Yiljoo’s lower lip. He tilted his head, capturing the lip and gently sucking on it. A soft moan escaped Euihyun’s lips. He clutched Cha Yiljoo’s lapels tenderly. With a soft sound, their lips parted. Their eyes met from a close distance.

    “…”

    “…”

For a while, neither Cha Yiljoo nor Euihyun spoke. They simply gazed at each other, slowly, memorizing every detail. Then, gently pressing his lips against Euihyun’s, Cha Yiljoo lifted him up and sat him on the windowsill. Euihyun’s arms naturally wrapped around his neck. He flinched slightly at the distinct coldness of the glass against his shirt.

Cha Yiljoo repeatedly stroked Euihyun’s cheek with his thumb, kissing his lips and the corners of his mouth. Meanwhile, his hands deftly unbuckled Euihyun’s belt and lowered his zipper. By the time Euihyun came to his senses, his pants had slid down to his ankles.

    “Ah…”

He looked down at his exposed lower body involuntarily. Cha Yiljoo braced himself against the windowsill with his arms on either side of Euihyun’s bare thighs, effectively trapping him between himself and the window. Euihyun couldn’t move unless Cha Yiljoo moved first.

Cha Yiljoo’s handsome face was inches from his own. He could barely breathe. He held Euihyun captive in his arms, simply gazing at him for a while without making a move. Euihyun anxiously glanced behind him.

“Shouldn’t we close the blinds? I think people outside will be able to see everything.”

    “Some paparazzi are excessively aggressive.”

He muttered nonchalantly, nodding his head. He didn’t close the curtains. He simply lowered his head and took the edge of Euihyun’s shirt between his teeth, slowly pulling it back. One side of his shirt fell back over his shoulder, exposing half of his upper body. His nipples, reddened and swollen from Cha Yiljoo’s touch, glistened slightly. He kissed and nibbled around them, making Euihyun flinch and squirm at the teasing sensation.

“They sneak into the garages and homes of their targets, and sometimes they even break into bedrooms.”

He paused mid-sentence and, without warning, licked Euihyun’s nipple intently. Euihyun’s body jerked sharply towards Cha Yiljoo.

    “…Ah…”

A moan escaped his lips involuntarily. Cha Yiljoo flicked his tongue across his nipple, drawing it taut before sucking on it persistently. The strong suction made his flesh tingle and tighten repeatedly. A sharp, almost unbearable pleasure spread through him.

    “Ah… Mmm…”

“…Sometimes they follow their targets and rent rooms in buildings across the street, or they sail yachts on the same sea and observe every single move. Even though they’re physically distant, with a telephoto lens, they can see every facial expression. If they’re lucky, they might even capture them having sex.”

He added, deliberately pulling away from his nipple with a smacking sound. Trying to escape the intense stimulation, Euihyun’s body pressed fully against the window. At this rate, he would definitely be caught on camera. Cha Yiljoo kissed Euihyun’s stiff jaw and asked casually,

“Do you think we’ll be clearly visible too?”

“Th-this is too reckless. We should stop…”

    “Why? It’s thrilling.”

He chuckled childishly, a mischievous glint in his eyes. His lighthearted tone sounded strangely sharp.

Cha Yiljoo grabbed Euihyun’s knees and spread them wider. A look of deep embarrassment crossed Euihyun’s face. Watching his face pale, Cha Yiljoo lowered his head and licked the inside of his thighs, even biting playfully at the soft flesh. Euihyun’s upper body leaned further forward.

    “…Ah…”

He sucked on the spot he had just bitten, making the already sensitive skin burn and throb. The wet sounds of his sucking were embarrassingly loud. As Cha Yiljoo moved higher, heat began to pool in Euihyun’s groin.

However, despite licking a long path from his knees to his inner thighs, Cha Yiljoo paid no attention to Euihyun’s hardened length. His erection pressed against Cha Yiljoo’s face as he leaned forward, seeking attention.
