The weather tonight was great, with hardly any clouds in the sky. Even in a bustling city like the Special Administrative Region, where neon lights shone bright throughout the night, the soft and clear moonlight was still visible.
Wei Jiaxi held a can of beer in his hand, barely drinking half of it after such a long time. Standing on the balcony, he gazed outside with a complicated expression. From the eleventh floor—not too high but not low either—he could see only scattered car lights and streetlamps below. The faces of pedestrians were naturally indistinguishable from that height.
In truth, Wei Jiaxi didn’t even know what he was looking at.
No matter how much he tried to justify it to himself—that he was only doing what had to be done and that the vile woman deserved it—facts were facts. Today, he had shot and k!lled someone.
“So, are you planning to finish what you were saying or not?” Yun Shaofeng emerged from the living room, stepping onto the balcony to stand beside Wei Jiaxi. His gaze was as clear as ever as he looked at him.
Wei Jiaxi first lowered his head and let out a bitter laugh before turning to face Yun Shaofeng. “Mr. Yun Shaofeng, you are a man of persistence, aren’t you?”
“Isn’t that a good thing?” Yun Shaofeng replied, holding a beer can as well. He leaned sideways against the balcony, fully facing Wei Jiaxi with an expectant look.
Don’t look at me like that… Don’t look at me so eagerly…
Wei Jiaxi felt tipsy, even though he had only taken a few sips of beer. Shaofeng had always been like this—serious about everything, always looking obedient while following his lead. Should he tell him? It wasn’t that big of a deal, and if Shaofeng decided to stay in the region, he would inevitably find out about these things sooner or later.
“The person who died today was named Li Anna. She really was Wei Jiayi’s mother—the great-niece of a senior officer from the Anti-Crime Unit[1], whom we mentioned during the meeting.” Wei Jiaxi sighed, turned around to face the living room, and avoided Yun Shaofeng’s gaze. “Actually, Wei Jiayi is my older brother, and Wei Junlin is our biological father. The difference between him and me is that I… was brought into this world by Wei Junlin.”
Yun Shaofeng blinked, a hint of surprise in his heart, though he kept his expression mostly neutral. “I did suspect that you might be related to Wei Jiayi, but I didn’t expect this…”
“The rest is probably easy for you to guess—it’s a very clichéd story,” Wei Jiaxi shrugged. “I was raised by my father. Li Anna and Wei Jiayi always saw us as thorns in their side, but my father passed away early. In my youth, it was inevitable to have dealings with that family of three.”
“That family of three?” Yun Shaofeng frowned slightly.
“Yes, their family of three,” Wei Jiaxi replied calmly. “The old man suffered greatly to bring me into this world, and I’m grateful to him for that. But I’ve never been on the same path as them.”
“So, you became a police officer?” Yun Shaofeng asked again.
Wei Jiaxi remained silent, raising his eyes to meet his gaze. His eyes were deep and somewhat sorrowful, yet they conveyed no particular message—just a simple, piercing look at Yun Shaofeng.
Feeling slightly embarrassed by the stare, Yun Shaofeng raised his beer can and took a sip, shielding his awkwardness. “Did I ask something I shouldn’t have?”
“…No.” Wei Jiaxi shook his head, smiling. “Yes, I became a police officer.”
“Then you didn’t do anything wrong today. No matter what your relationship with Li Anna was, you were just doing your duty,” Yun Shaofeng gently comforted him.
Wei Jiaxi, however, looked up at the night sky and let out a long sigh. Then, straightening his posture, he walked back into the living room.
“If you chose to become a police officer, it means you didn’t want to align yourself with the underworld. I think you’re brave. Why are you so troubled?” Yun Shaofeng couldn’t understand his reaction and followed him as he spoke.
Wei Jiaxi sat down on the sofa, looked at him, and said, “Things aren’t as simple as you think. Few people in the police force know about my background, but many people in the underworld do. I am the son of the former leader of the Hongsheng Gang. As a police officer, I killed my stepmother. This act is like slapping both the Anti-Crime Unit and Wei Jiayi in the face. Moreover, I had just met with Master Xi two days ago. The current situation is far more complicated than it seems.”
“If all you want is to do your job and you have no intention of diving into the underworld to compete with them for power, why does it matter?” Yun Shaofeng sat beside him, still confused. “It’s not like you’re going to fight Wei Jiayi for the gang leader position.”
“I truly… just want to do my job well,” Wei Jiaxi said, looking at him with a helpless smile. “And my job is to protect you, Shaofeng.”
Yun Shaofeng’s expression softened slightly, and he looked at him with some guilt. “So it’s because of me again? You’re worried about my safety?”
Wei Jiaxi nodded. “Yang Zhen assigned me to this task because I’m familiar with the tactics used by Hongsheng’s people. I can prevent them from taking advantage. I originally stayed in the Major Crimes Unit because I didn’t want to deal with those scumbags again, but now…”
“Then why did you go to that tea restaurant today?” Yun Shaofeng asked again.
“Because I really, really, really wanted to catch Wei Jiayi.” Wei Jiaxi suddenly grew agitated, resting his elbows on his knees and clutching his head helplessly. “I knew that if a large-scale conflict broke out between Xin Qing and Hongsheng, the Hongsheng dr*g labs would likely be left unguarded. Going there at that time would have given me evidence. I… I can’t tolerate Wei Jiayi being at large, like a ticking time bomb, capable of hurting you at any moment!”
At the end of his words, Yun Shaofeng suddenly grabbed his collar, pulling his upper body close. The two of them faced each other directly, their noses touching.
Wei Jiaxi was stunned, staring blankly at Yun Shaofeng’s suddenly magnified face. “Shaofeng…”
Yun Shaofeng didn’t respond. Maintaining his grip on Wei Jiaxi’s collar, he leaned in and kissed him.
Shao Feng must have been drunk. This was the only thought in Wei Jiaxi’s mind.
The kiss mirrored their interactions over the past two weeks—calm and restrained at the start, just the gentle brushing and teasing of their lips. However, Yun Shaofeng was not content with merely that, while Wei Jiaxi dared not respond. With newfound courage, Yun Shaofeng’s tongue darted out, prying open Wei Jiaxi’s teeth, slipping boldly into his mouth, and exploring with unabashed audacity.
Sh!t. He was hard. Wei Jiaxi realized this all too suddenly and quickly grabbed Yun Shaofeng’s shoulders, pushing him away to a safe distance. Yet his lower half had already betrayed him, roused to attention by just one kiss.
“Shaofeng… are you out of your mind?” Wei Jiaxi finally managed to say, after holding back for what felt like an eternity.
“… You don’t like it?” Yun Shaofeng’s cheeks flushed, whether from alcohol or embarrassment that had caught up to him.
How could he not like it? That was the problem—he liked it! Wei Jiaxi stared at him, his breathing quickening, but he didn’t dare say a word, afraid that whatever left his mouth would be the unvarnished truth.
“What are you afraid of? Afraid of being caught? Afraid of losing your job?” Yun Shaofeng gazed at him with a probing softness in his voice, his tone laced with something that Wei Jiaxi couldn’t quite decipher.
“Of course, I’m afraid of losing my job.” Wei Jiaxi nearly laughed bitterly, but upon seeing the fleeting hurt flash across Yun Shaofeng’s face, he immediately softened his tone and said gently, “I’m not afraid of any of that. I’m afraid of you getting hurt, Shaofeng.”
“Jiaxi, is there someone else in your heart?” Yun Shaofeng felt like the alcohol had truly gotten to his head to ask something so bold.
Wei Jiaxi froze momentarily, then quickly averted his gaze, unwilling to meet Yun Shaofeng’s eyes.
“Is it that person who makes you coffee but doesn’t drink it themselves? The one who watches movies with you? Reads comics with you?” Yun Shaofeng pressed, scooting closer to Wei Jiaxi, his lips brushing against the corner of Wei Jiaxi’s mouth.
The faint scent of alcohol lingered on Yun Shaofeng. It wasn’t overpowering but impossible to ignore. If this went on any longer, Wei Jiaxi was certain he wouldn’t be able to hold back.
“I don’t care, really,” Yun Shaofeng said, almost climbing onto Wei Jiaxi’s lap. His lips lightly grazed Wei Jiaxi’s ear, but he restrained himself from kissing him again. “I just want to know what’s going on in your head.”
“Shaofeng, this is wrong!” Wei Jiaxi turned his head to avoid Yun Shaofeng’s kiss, but his arms still circled Yun Shaofeng’s shoulders, holding him tightly, keeping him firmly in his embrace. “I know you’re worried about me, but today… I k!lled someone.” His voice trembled slightly, with a faint, suppressed sob buried deep in his chest.
Yun Shaofeng felt a twinge of frustration. He had thought that maybe this would help Wei Jiaxi relax, but it seemed the situation was far more serious than he had imagined.
“I k!lled someone…” Wei Jiaxi held him close, the bitterness in his sigh unshakable. “No matter how much I hated her, no matter how deserving she was of punishment, some things, once done, can never be undone. Do you want our relationship to become like that too?”
Yun Shaofeng understood what he meant.
“Jiaxi, look at me,” Yun Shaofeng gently lifted his head from Wei Jiaxi’s arms and placed his hand on Wei Jiaxi’s cheek. “You fired that shot because she was about to shoot me. You did it to save me, didn’t you?”
Wei Jiaxi looked at him and nodded.
“And if you had to do it again, if you were back at that scene, would you still make the same choice?” Yun Shaofeng asked.
Wei Jiaxi stared at Yun Shaofeng. In his eyes, there was a steadfastness as unyielding as a mountain, and a gentleness like flowing water. Deep within, there was a trace of worry and probing, yet only Wei Jiaxi could see it.
“I would,” Wei Jiaxi replied.
“You would,” Yun Shaofeng smiled. “You would protect me at all costs. I’m not a cop, but I know that if I were in your shoes, I’d do the same—I’d protect you no matter what.”
That was enough. He couldn’t hold back anymore.
Wei Jiaxi wrapped his arms around Yun Shaofeng, pulling him close and leaning in for a kiss. He nibbled and sucked on Yun Shaofeng’s lips until they turned red, then trailed kisses along his jawline, down to his neck and collarbones, leaving faint red marks in his wake. Yun Shaofeng hissed softly at the sensation. Wei Jiaxi unbuttoned Yun Shaofeng’s shirt, pressing kisses to his chest, his tongue brushing over the small, pink bud on the right side. He teased the sensitive nipple with his teeth while lightly pinching the other side with his fingers.
“Ah!” Yun Shaofeng gasped softly in pain, only to be pinned down on the couch by Wei Jiaxi. Dazed, he stared at the blank ceiling, letting Wei Jiaxi do as he pleased.
Wei Jiaxi’s kisses moved downward, stopping at a scar on Yun Shaofeng’s right side below his ribs. It was small and faded but still noticeable.
“… I don’t know how I got that,” Yun Shaofeng murmured, his hand gently resting on the back of Wei Jiaxi’s neck. He continued staring at the ceiling but seemed to guess why Wei Jiaxi had stopped. “I don’t remember.”
But I do.
You would protect me at all costs.
You once protected me at all costs.
Wei Jiaxi didn’t continue his ministrations. Instead, Yun Shaofeng propped himself up and sat back down. The two of them faced each other, entangled on the narrow, soft couch. Yun Shaofeng’s legs rested on either side of Wei Jiaxi’s waist, his soft buttocks pressed against Wei Jiaxi’s thighs as they shared lingering kisses.
When Yun Shaofeng’s hand reached for Wei Jiaxi’s belt, Wei Jiaxi asked, “Are you sure you want to do this, Shaofeng?” But his arms remained wrapped around Yun Shaofeng’s waist, showing no intention of letting go.
Yun Shaofeng nodded, not hesitating as he unzipped both of their pants.
Wei Jiaxi had been hard for a while. The dull metallic sound of zippers sent his heart racing. With one hand cradling Yun Shaofeng’s nape, he resumed kissing him tenderly, exploring every corner of his mouth with his tongue while his other hand slipped into Yun Shaofeng’s underwear, gripping his half-erect member.
“Mmm…” Yun Shaofeng eagerly returned the kiss, trying to reciprocate by stroking Wei Jiaxi, but his attention faltered as Wei Jiaxi’s fingers—calloused from years of handling firearms—rubbed over the sensitive tip of his erection. Sharp jolts of pleasure filled his mind in an instant.
Wei Jiaxi pressed him back onto the couch, still holding his shaft, stroking it firmly. This “gun” felt far more perfect than any firearm he’d ever used.
“Ah… ahh—” Yun Shaofeng gasped for breath as the increased pace of Wei Jiaxi’s strokes overwhelmed him. He had intended to please Wei Jiaxi but ended up completely at his mercy. The careful attention Wei Jiaxi gave him was something Yun Shaofeng had never experienced before.
Fascinated, Wei Jiaxi gazed at Yun Shaofeng’s flushed face, freeing his own erection and pressing it against Yun Shaofeng’s.
“Mm… ugh…” The slick tips of their members brushed together, drawing low groans from both men.
Yun Shaofeng raised his hands, intertwining them with Wei Jiaxi’s fingers, guiding their movements as they stroked each other in unison.
Two men, four hands, long fingers interlocked and entwined, their mingled fluids indistinguishable, only their equally sultry, powerful moans echoing back and forth.
Having been celibate for most of the past six years, coupled with the intensity of the day’s events, neither of them lasted long.
Wei Jiaxi came first, his defined abs tightening as he panted heavily. His chiseled Adonis belt flexed with every pulse, and white fluid spilled through his fingers. In Yun Shaofeng’s eyes, the sight was breathtakingly beautiful, like a classical painting that left him utterly dazed. His gaze drifted upward, and he saw Wei Jiaxi, still immersed in his climax, staring back at him with nothing but tenderness in his eyes.
“Ha… Shaofeng…” Wei Jiaxi’s voice was raspy, even more magnetic than usual.
“Ah…” Yun Shaofeng trembled as his own release followed, spilling into Wei Jiaxi’s palm.
To be continued…
