Chapter 21: Does Teacher Han Like Watching Movies?

On Tuesday morning, Han Junzhou arrived at the classroom on time, only to be surprised to see Bai Chengyu standing at the podium alongside Liang Yuchan, who was setting up a computer.

Class representative Bai Chengyu was holding a microphone, announcing something to the class. Han Junzhou stood by the front door, listening.

“… The movie will be shown this Friday night at 7:00 PM. Those who want to go, remember to bring your student IDs,” Bai Chengyu finished announcing, and the students below showed little interest. Who would want to watch an outdated animated film?

“Class representative, can we bring people from outside the school?” A female student suddenly asked, which caught the attention of others, sparking teasing laughter.

“I—I just want to bring my brother!” The female student blushed and nervously explained.

Bai Chengyu looked at the girl, who was shy yet hopeful. Just as he was about to speak, Liang Yuchan interrupted, scolding quietly, “Teacher Han is here already. Hurry up.” She then ran back to her seat. Bai Chengyu turned around and saw Han Junzhou standing at the door, and suddenly, a bold thought crossed his mind.

He first answered the girl’s question, “Yes, you can bring someone. Our students can enter for free with their student IDs. If you want to bring someone from outside, you’ll need to buy tickets from the student welfare office.” Bai Chengyu then added, “Although this movie is an old animated film, I’ve heard it was very popular back in the day. You can ask Teacher Han. He should know.”

Hearing his name, Han Junzhou raised an eyebrow with amusement. He then heard Bai Chengyu, pretending to apologize, “Sorry, Teacher, for taking up your time. We were talking about the movie showing on Friday night in the school auditorium.” He paused and asked, “I don’t know if Teacher Han likes watching movies? The movie we’re showing is Finding Nemo. If you’re interested, I can help you get a ticket.”

Bai Chengyu’s eyes sparkled as he looked at Han Junzhou, unable to hide his excitement.

Han Junzhou smiled, “Huh? Me?” He didn’t expect the brat to openly flirt with him on stage, using the movie event as an excuse to ask him out. Bai Chengyu didn’t realize it, but the look on his face was so expectant that it almost surpassed the enthusiasm of the girl earlier who wanted to bring her boyfriend.

The other students below were not as observant as Teacher Han. When they heard the class representative invite him, they thought Bai Chengyu had suddenly changed, becoming passionate about looking out for the students. A few people followed with teasing remarks: “Teacher, go! Go! I’ll buy the tickets for you…” “I’ll do it! I’ll buy the tickets, I’ll treat you to a movie, Teacher!”

Han Junzhou smiled and walked up to the podium, standing beside Bai Chengyu, addressing the class below. “I do like watching movies. When I was in school, I was even in the film appreciation club. Finding Nemo is a great animated movie, haven’t you all seen it?” He turned to Bai Chengyu and added, “It’s been a long time since I’ve seen a movie. Can you get me a ticket and take me into the theater then?”

Suppressing the smile that threatened to show on his face, Bai Chengyu seriously replied, “Sure, Teacher.”

Han Junzhou took the microphone from Bai Chengyu’s hand, patting his waist as a sign for him to return to his seat.

Luckily, Han Junzhou always used a special isolation patch every time he attends class, otherwise, with such close proximity and his hand wandering, Bai Chengyu might have accidentally revealed that he was an Omega. Bai Chengyu glared at Han Junzhou, but there was a smile hidden in his eyes.

The students below began whispering among themselves. Just a moment ago, they had little interest, but now that Teacher Han was also going, suddenly there were many more people eager to watch the movie.

Class began. Han Junzhou took off his suit jacket, loosened his bowtie just slightly, and rolled up his shirt sleeves to start teaching. Bai Chengyu, watching him from below, couldn’t help but think of the movie ticket promise. It felt like a feather was gently brushing against his heart, making it ticklish.

For the first time, he was so distracted during a lesson. His mind wandered to thoughts of tugging on that tie, pulling him closer, and imagining what they could do together.

He didn’t even stop to think that every time things got steamy on the bed, it was Bai Chengyu who had initiated it.

The gender studies class finally came to an end. During the first half of the lesson, Bai Chengyu had been lost in romantic thoughts, but he had managed to force himself to pay attention. He finally made it through to the last five minutes of class. Bai Chengyu stretched his neck and massaged his shoulders, loosening up the stiffness from taking notes. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw someone walking by the corridor outside the window. The person stopped by the window to watch their class, specifically to watch Han Junzhou teaching.

Bai Chengyu followed the gaze and saw that the person was Yue Qi. Sure enough, Han Junzhou noticed Yue Qi outside the window. He smiled and nodded at him, signaling that he had seen him. Then, Han Junzhou turned back to write on the blackboard.

From the way the two exchanged glances, it seemed like they had planned this encounter. Had Yue Qi come early to wait for Han Junzhou?

    Bai Chengyu felt very displeased.

“Teacher Han just promised to watch the movie with me!” He thought. And now he has plans with someone else. How casual. What a jerk!”

Bai Chengyu glared at Han Junzhou, his pen unconsciously drawing circles on the textbook, pressing so hard that the paper tore.

At twelve o’clock sharp, the bell rang, signaling the end of the class.

The students who were quick to react had already grabbed their bags and dashed out of the classroom. Bai Chengyu, however, continued to pack his things slowly while Wang Ziheng and a few others discussed where to go for lunch.

Yue Qi waited until the last few students had dispersed and then walked into the classroom, standing next to Han Junzhou and asking, “Are you ready?”

Han Junzhou closed his handbag and replied to Yue Qi, “All set, where are we going?” He put on his suit jacket, which had been draped over the chair.

“Student cafeteria,” Yue Qi replied in a hurry, even helping Han Junzhou adjust the collar and smooth his jacket shoulders. “It’s the closest. Hurry, I’m starving…” He grabbed Han Junzhou’s hand and quickly headed for the door.

Bai Chengyu watched as the two of them left together without a second’s delay, holding hands as they hurried out, and Han Junzhou didn’t even glance back at him. He was furious.

“Hand in hand. I’m so mad.”

Han Junzhou, not paying attention, was already being pulled out of the classroom by Yue Qi. He tugged back the hand that Yue Qi had wrinkled his sleeve with and straightened his clothes while listening to Yue Qi ramble on about a case. “This patient’s situation is a bit tricky. I need your opinion first, and then I’ll discuss it with the pathology department this afternoon…”

“Hey, what’s the rush? I haven’t even said goodbye to the students yet.” Han Junzhou smoothed out the wrinkles in his sleeve, a bit displeased.

“Say goodbye to the students?” Yue Qi asked, puzzled. “Do you still have such a rule? But it looks like your students have already left.”

Han Junzhou pouted, knowing Bai Chengyu hadn’t left yet.

Yue Qi, preoccupied with a patient, continued, “Forget about the students. Listen to me talk about this unfortunate patient. Omega, female, twenty weeks pregnant, involved in a car accident two days ago, with a fractured clavicle and abdominal injury. She’s currently in the hospital on bed rest. Last night during rounds, I discovered her gonads were unusually swollen, so I did a biopsy. The pathology department just gave me a preliminary report suggesting it might be cancerous…”

As Yue Qi rapidly recounted the patient’s case, Han Junzhou was still thinking about Bai Chengyu’s slow movements while packing his bag. He had a small hope that Bai Chengyu had intentionally stayed a few extra minutes for him, even though he had never come over to say goodbye.

Perhaps it was because of the movie date they had just made, but Han Junzhou found himself having slightly different expectations for Bai Chengyu.

He pulled his wandering thoughts back and focused on Yue Qi’s case discussion.

    In the classroom:

“Wanna go to that rib noodle place next to the school?” Wang Ziheng asked.

“Again? We’ve already been there twice this week,” Liao Sheng protested.

“Their fried ribs are really good,” Wang Ziheng insisted, ignoring Liao Sheng’s complaint. “Li Wenting, are you done? Let’s go.”

“Done, let’s go,” Li Wenting said as he slung his backpack over his shoulder. Just as they were about to leave, Bai Chengyu spoke up.

“Let’s go to the student cafeteria,” Bai Chengyu suddenly said.

“Huh?” The other three looked at him in surprise.
