ROT CH 5

Bai Chengyu was truly exceptional. Whether it was due to a unique physical constitution or extraordinary self-control, after a night of intimacy, he seemed as lively as a fish back in water—full of vigor and energy. By daylight, he remained in high spirits, showing no signs of having experienced such a demanding first-time encounter the night before. He could not only attend training but also hold his ground in sparring matches. It wasn’t until nightfall, when another wave of heat surged through him, that he realized his heat was far from over.
Bai Chengyu’s understanding of all things Omega-related was vague at best. He actively resisted learning about his own body, leaving him clueless about his current condition. During this heat cycle, he appeared perfectly fine during the day, which led him to send Han Junzhou back home. But as soon as night fell, the agitation returned, and he’d call out in frustration like a restless cat in heat. Inevitably, Han Junzhou would be summoned back by the Black Shadows, making him feel like a personal on-call pacifier.
Most Alphas would have found such treatment intolerable—being bossed around to this extent by an Omega. Yet, Han Junzhou didn’t mind. On the contrary, he found Bai Chengyu’s situation fascinating. The ability to suppress his heat at nighttime was so unusual that Han Junzhou couldn’t help but observe and analyze the pattern. Through this, he discovered something else: Bai Chengyu’s heat cycle was far longer than most Omegas’.
Typically, Omegas experience a heat roughly every month, lasting four to five days. Bai Chengyu, however, only entered a heat every two to three months, but it lasted up to ten days. Thankfully, it was only during the night that he required attention, allowing both of them to maintain their regular daytime routines.
As a doctor, Han Junzhou couldn’t abandon his work without notice, so this arrangement suited him perfectly. The words a match made in heaven couldn’t help but cross his mind.
Over time, the chaos of Bai Chengyu’s initial heat turned into a well-practiced routine. Whenever Bai Chengyu’s heat began, the Black Shadows would appear at Han Junzhou’s hospital to “pick him up.” For those ten days, Han Junzhou would stay at the Bai family residence. During the day, the Black Shadows would drive him to work, and at night, they would bring him back.
While Bai Chengyu was aware that the Alpha’s surname was Han and that he worked at Yunbang Hospital, he remained ignorant of Han Junzhou’s true status. Han Junzhou’s unassuming demeanor, combined with the subtle secrecy of the Bai family head, prevented Bai Chengyu from realizing that Han Junzhou was a core figure in Yunbang’s upper management.
As the youngest cousin of the seventh-generation family head, Han Junze, and a close confidant of the eighth-generation heir, Han Mingxiu, Han Junzhou held a significant position in the Han family. In a metaphorical sense, if the Han family were a royal court, Han Junzhou would be the leisurely yet influential little prince, favored by the emperor and trusted by the crown prince.
Luckily, while the Black Shadows viewed Han Junzhou as an ordinary doctor, they still treated him with utmost respect—after all, he was the Bai family young master’s lover.
But Bai Chengyu didn’t see it that way.
In Bai Chengyu’s eyes, Han Junzhou was nothing more than a tool—a means to an end. Eventually, Bai Chengyu had two rooms prepared in his courtyard: one for Han Junzhou to stay in when he needed to spend the night, and the other designated as a “treatment room.” Whenever the Black Shadows brought Han Junzhou over, Bai Chengyu would wait in the treatment room.
After each session, they would return to their respective rooms. Bai Chengyu no longer allowed Han Junzhou into his bed, and to be fair, he refrained from dirtying the guest room reserved for Dr. Han. Their cooperation during the “treatment” was flawless, but beyond that, there was no emotional interaction to speak of. Honestly, would you chat with or confide in a massage device?
If an Alpha could be replaced by a tool, Bai Chengyu wouldn’t have let any Alpha near him.
To him, this Alpha was merely a means to alleviate his heat—a plaything. Were it not for Han Junzhou’s evident usefulness, his physique and skill, and the compatibility of their pheromones, Bai Chengyu wouldn’t have allowed him to touch even a single strand of his hair.
Although Bai Chengyu treated Han Junzhou with surface-level courtesy, he essentially regarded him as an A-class “massage stick,” calling him when needed and dismissing him just as easily, never sparing him much thought.
Han Junzhou, for his part, displayed infinite patience toward Bai Chengyu. He understood that Bai Chengyu had been raised as a future leader in the underworld and recognized the identity crisis the young Omega was currently grappling with. Expecting Bai Chengyu to behave like a typical Omega—submissive and sweet—was simply impossible.
Besides, Han Junzhou had never wanted a docile partner. His ideal companion wasn’t a meek, dependent Omega but an equal—someone as independent and strong as himself. He had once fallen for an Alpha like that, but due to the mutual physiological repulsion between Alphas—especially between him and his past lover—their attempts at intimacy repeatedly failed. Ultimately, they settled for being close friends.
Han Junzhou admired strength, so Bai Chengyu’s domineering nature appealed to him. In front of the young master, Han Junzhou restrained his natural Alpha aggression. If Bai Chengyu didn’t want to be marked, Han Junzhou respected his wishes, suppressing his primal instincts and resisting the overwhelming urge to bite the boy’s gland during their most intimate moments.
He relinquished all control to Bai Chengyu, even allowing the young Omega to define their relationship as a purely physical one. For now, he chose to accept being Bai Chengyu’s bedmate, with the hope that time would eventually deepen their connection.
This feisty little Omega was Han Junzhou’s fated partner—one as strong as he was. Everything had to progress slowly.
But for things to progress, opportunities were necessary. Yet this little rascal would always vanish after their sessions, maintaining a distant and cordial “treatment” relationship. To put it bluntly, they were friends with benefits, with Bai Chengyu firmly in the driver’s seat. Han Junzhou barely got a word in edgewise.
This detached dynamic left Han Junzhou frustrated, unable to find the right moment to change the nature of their relationship.
After another heat cycle concluded, the little leopard retreated early to his bedroom to rest, leaving Han Junzhou—the “massage stick”—wide awake. As usual, he wandered out alone, settling under the osmanthus tree in Qinglang Courtyard to brood.
His heart was heavy with regret over yet another missed opportunity.
Surprisingly, the opportunityfor change came just two weeks later. This time, their encounter wasn’t in Bai Chengyu’s treatment room.
It was in Han Junzhou’s classroom.
