Lin Yi followed the address the agent had sent and arrived at a private dining room in a restaurant.

As it happened, the agent arrived at the same time.

The agent immediately snarked, “Our Young Master Lin really knows how to make an entrance.”

The original host had always been too timid to talk back or defend himself, which gave the agent plenty of opportunities to mock and belittle him.

But now, someone else occupied this body.

Lin Yi, half a head taller than the agent, glanced down at him from above and said nothing. He simply walked past him and entered the room.

    The agent: “…”

That one look sent a chill down his spine.

What the hell? Why did Lin Yi seem like a completely different person today?

Even so, the agent was used to looking down on him so after a brief moment, he dismissed the unease and followed Lin Yi inside. He pulled out a chair, ready to sit down and give Lin Yi a good scolding.

But just as he pulled it out—Lin Yi sat down on it.

    The agent: “??”

Did he just end up serving Lin Yi?

To make it worse, Lin Yi sat there calmly, gave a slight lift of his chin, and gestured at him, “Sit.”

    The agent: “???”

No way he could swallow this. He immediately exploded. “Lin Yi, looks like you’ve grown wings and think you can fly now, huh?! Don’t forget, if it weren’t for me giving you a leg up, would you even have the position you have today?!”

Lin Yi let out a cold laugh. “What position do I even have now? And even if I do, it’s something I earned myself.”

The original host had only been noticed by the agent because of his good looks and easy-to-control personality. He was signed into an entertainment company, but his personality was never suited to the industry. He never managed to break out, and was constantly dragged down by fake scandals. Over time, he faded into obscurity.

The agent had never invested much into him anyway. Once it was clear the original host couldn’t generate results, he basically gave up on him—though he still used him as cheap labor, tossing him all sorts of random low-end jobs like a workhorse.

Never in his wildest dreams did the agent expect Lin Yi to talk back like this now. Gritting his teeth, he said, “I don’t care what you’re thinking. You’re still under my management. If I tell you to do something, you do it.”

As he spoke, he slammed several contracts down on the table. “Sign them. Now.”

Lin Yi picked them up and flipped through them casually.

They were all junk, gigs no one else wanted, dumped on him like trash.

After a quick glance, Lin Yi tossed them back on the table with a slap and said flatly, “Let whoever wants to do them go. I’m not going.”

    “What?!”

The agent’s eyes widened in disbelief.

While the agent fumed, Lin Yi remained utterly relaxed. He even reached for the menu and started flipping through it.

The agent was practically having a heart attack from the casual attitude. He slammed the table and roared, “You’re going whether you want to or not!!”

Lin Yi didn’t even look at him, eyes still on the menu.

    The agent: “??”

What the hell had gotten into Lin Yi? In the past, one angry word and he would tremble—now he was acting more arrogant than himself?

The agent was too stunned to argue anymore.

He had no idea what Lin Yi was thinking, so he decided to wait and see.

He picked up a menu too.

At least the meal would be worth it, Lin Yi always paid anyway. That’s why he picked such an upscale restaurant.

He was planning to order a few expensive dishes to make the most of it.

But strangely, the usually frugal Lin Yi also ordered several pricey items this time.

The agent found it odd, but didn’t think too much of it.

The meal went on, and both of them ate heartily.

Afterward, patting his full belly, the agent said casually, “Go settle the bill.”

Lin Yi leaned back in his chair lazily and raised an eyebrow. “Why should I pay?”

    The agent: “??”

He asked in confusion, “Don’t you always pay?”

Lin Yi nodded and replied as if it were obvious, “Exactly. Which means it’s your turn this time.”

With that, he put on his mask and left, not giving the agent a chance to respond.

    The agent: “…”

Damn it! What the hell was going on?!

This meal cost several thousand and he had just treated Lin Yi to one of the most expensive lunches of his life!

After leaving the restaurant, Lin Yi didn’t go straight home.

He wandered the streets leisurely instead.

In his past life, he had been so busy he couldn’t even dream of leisure strolls like this.

Now that he finally had the chance, he took his time enjoying the bustling street scenes.

After walking for a while, he came across a luxury car dealership.

Like most men, Lin Yi had a soft spot for sports cars.

He went inside to take a look, only to run into the original host’s mother and younger brother.

    Lin Yi: “…”

Next time, he really needed to check the lunar calendar before heading out.

What were the odds of running into them here?

He immediately lost interest in browsing and turned to leave.

But a sharp female voice stopped him. “Stop right there!”

Lin Yi really wanted to ignore her and walk off, but since she was technically the original host’s mother, he knew walking away would only invite more trouble. So he held back and stayed put.

Mother Lin strutted over in high heels, a large designer bag slung over her arm, her brows tightly furrowed. “You see me and your brother, and your first reaction is to turn around and walk away? Is that how you were raised?”

Lin Yi was almost impressed that she had the nerve to say the word “raised.”

The Lin family had two sons. And thanks to their blatant favoritism toward the younger one, the older son had suffered no end of neglect—not that they ever bothered to teach him anything in the first place.

He crossed his arms and leaned against a nearby pillar, looking at her with a blank expression. “What do you want?”

The moment she saw him, Mother Lin felt something was off.

Her eldest son had always been quiet and submissive, but now he carried an imposing presence. Even a casual glance from him felt heavy and oppressive.

She sensed something had changed but she never cared much for her eldest son anyway, so she didn’t bother to investigate. She got straight to the point, “Buy your brother a sports car.”

Her tone was righteous, like Lin Yi owed it to them.

Lin Yi gave a faint, mocking smile. “Why should I?”

Mother Lin replied, “Because I gave birth to you. So you should listen to me.”

Lin Yi nodded. “So that means I can buy one for myself too?”

Mother Linimmediately objected. “Why would you need a car? You don’t even use one.”

Lin Yi glanced toward Lin Jie in the distance. “And he’s just a high school student, can he use one?”

Lin Jie was in his second year of high school. Instead of focusing on his studies, he hung out with a group of troublemakers every day.

Despite this, their parents still believed he was the more promising son.

When Mother Lin heard Lin Yi comparing himself to her precious youngest son, she sneered and said, “Why compare? You two are completely different.”

She had always disliked the older one, thinking he was weak and unmanly.

Her younger son, on the other hand, looked like someone who could become the family’s future pillar.

She would grow old one day and naturally, she placed all her hopes on her second son.

Lin Yi let out a cold laugh. “Different? You mean you’re just biased.”

He had been the obedient, sensible one all along and never caused trouble, he never even made them worry.

And yet they still treated him like he was a burden.

Perhaps feeling a little guilty, Mother Lin snapped, “Just listen to yourself. Always so sharp-tongued. Who would ever like someone like you?”

Lin Yi sneered. “I used to do everything you said, but you didn’t like me then either.”

Mother Lin shot back, “Why are you bringing up the past?! I’m talking about right now.”

Clearly wanting to change the subject, she said, “Hurry up and buy the car for your brother. You’re married into the Huo family now, you must have money, right?”

At that point, she looked a bit annoyed.

When the Huo family first proposed the marriage, she had been over the moon.

After all, who wouldn’t want to climb into a family like that?

She had tried to push her younger son into the marriage, but the Huo family had insisted on the quiet, obedient elder son instead.

That had ruined her mood for days and she couldn’t even eat properly.

Still, with the Huo family’s wealth and power, they didn’t dare protest.

She had hoped to use the marriage to milk the Huo family for money, but they completely ignored her.

To this day, the resentment still lingered and she looked down on Lin Yi even more because of it.

She expected to argue more, but Lin Yi suddenly turned to Lin Jie and said, “Go test-drive the cars. See which one you like best.”

Lin Jie, who usually barely acknowledged his “loser” older brother, immediately perked up. “Okay, bro! I’ll go right now!”

    Then he ran off excitedly.

Mother Lin breathed a sigh of relief and took the chance to lecture Lin Yi: “See? We’re a family. We should help each other…”

Lin Yi leaned against the pillar, not even listening.

Lin Jie soon came back beaming with excitement. His acne-covered face was glowing.

“Bro, I’m done! This Ferrari is the best! Just tap the gas, and it roars!”

He was already dreaming of picking up girls while cruising in a convertible.

Lin Yi nodded. “Yeah, I think the Ferrari’s nice too.”

Then he turned to the sales rep to make the purchase.

Lin Jie immediately switched to full flattery mode, following close behind and even pouring Lin Yi a glass of water.

While signing the papers, Lin Yi glanced at the water but didn’t drink it.

Turns out, with money, everything’s easy.

In no time, the car was bought.

Lin Yi casually spun the key ring around his finger and walked toward the sports car.

Lin Jie trailed behind eagerly, holding out his hands. “Bro, give me the keys! I’ll even drive you home!”

For once, Mother Lin looked on him with a warm smile.

But Lin Yi raised an eyebrow. “Who said I bought it for you?”

    Lin Jie froze. “What?”

    Mother Lin’s smile vanished instantly.

Lin Yi looked at them and smiled. “I bought it for myself. Not bad, right?”

With that, he opened the car door and slipped into the driver’s seat.

The engine roared to life with a thunderous purr.

Only then did Mother Lin realize what was happening. She rushed in front of the car to block him.

Lin Yi raised an eyebrow. “Something else?”

She snapped, “Didn’t you say you were buying it for Xiao Jie?!”

Lin Yi lazily gripped the wheel. “Did I? When did I say that?”

    Mother Lin was stunned.

Then she thought back, he really had only told Lin Jie to test-drive the car.

He never said he was buying it for him.

She realized she’d been played. Fury surged up, and she opened her mouth to snap back—

However, Lin Yi revved the engine again and gave her a lopsided, dangerous grin. “You sure you don’t want to move?”

In that instant, a chill ran down her spine.

She had a terrifying feeling that if she didn’t move, Lin Yi really might drive right through her.

    He’s insane!

Her eldest son had gone completely mad!

She scrambled out of the way.

And Lin Yi drove off in the convertible, leaving behind a view of his back that they could only watch vanish into the distance.
