    Soon, it was noon.

The desert temperature soared sharply, and it felt like the whole landscape was steaming with heat.

Huo Mianmian looked very hot. His little cheeks were flushed red, and fine beads of sweat dotted his forehead.

Lin Yi quickly brought him back into the tent and turned on the fan provided by the production team.

Immediately, a refreshing breeze blew from the air conditioner, both father and son sighed in unison, then continued munching on watermelon.

After finishing his watermelon, Lin Yi suddenly had an idea.

He had heard that when the sand gets hot enough, you can actually cook eggs in it.

With that in mind, he stepped outside the tent, dug around their makeshift kitchen, and found a few eggs.

Shen Feng saw what Lin Yi was doing and asked curiously, “What are you up to?”

Lin Yi replied honestly, “Trying to see if the sand can actually cook eggs.”

As he spoke, he found a clean patch of sand, dug a shallow hole, and buried a few eggs in it.

Watching him, Shen Feng muttered, “You sure those will be edible? Sand’s dirty.”

Without looking up, Lin Yi said, “It’s not like you’re eating the shell. Just peel it off.”

Shen Feng snorted, “Well, I’m not eating any.”

Lin Yi said slowly, “I didn’t invite you to.”

    Shen Feng: “……”

    【LOL, Shen Feng loses again.】

【Anyone else think Shen Feng’s like a little puppy constantly trying to get attention from his owner but never quite succeeding?】

    【He’s definitely a huSky type.】

The midday sand was scorching, almost too hot to touch.

Lin Yi quickly buried the eggs and went back into the tent to cool off under the fan.

【LOL Lin Yi’s doing something I’ve always wanted to try.】

【Looks so fun, I want to go too!】

【I’m planning my next trip to the desert.】

Back inside the tent, Lin Yi picked up another slice of watermelon. With the fan blowing and watermelon in hand, it was the perfect way to beat the heat.

Just then, Shen Feng swaggered into the tent with his hands in his pockets.

Noticing someone enter, Lin Yi looked up.

Seeing it was Shen Feng, he raised an eyebrow and silently asked what he wanted.

Shen Feng came up with a justifiable reason. “I don’t believe those eggs will actually cook, so I’m here to witness it.”

    Lin Yi: “……”

    Fine.

    Whatever makes you happy.

A while later, Lin Yi went outside to check on the eggs.

    Shen Feng eagerly followed.

Lin Yi returned to the spot and used a twig to start digging them out.

Shen Feng folded his arms and watched from above. “Are you sure eggs dug out of the sand are safe to eat?”

Lin Yi ignored him and dug out all the eggs.

The tents were close together, so Zhao Jin and Zhou Ke soon noticed then came over to see what was happening.

Lin Yi picked up one egg, blew the sand off, cracked it, and peeled it open.

He was surprised to find the egg had indeed cooked all the way through.

Looks like the desert sand really could cook eggs.

Shen Feng’s eyes widened slightly at the sight.

    The eggs were actually cooked?

Lin Yi stood up and went to the temporary kitchen, sprinkled some salt and pepper on the peeled egg, and took a bite.

The next second, he exclaimed, “Tsk tsk, not bad at all…”

Zhao Jin and Zhou Ke both said, “Can we try one?”

Lin Yi generously said, “Go ahead.”

So they each took an egg and began eating—and both agreed it was delicious.

    Meanwhile, Shen Feng: “……”

He kept staring at Lin Yi.

Watching Lin Yi enjoy his food made Shen Feng swallow hard.

He had already said earlier that he wouldn’t eat any. Asking now would just be awkward, wouldn’t it?

Lin Yi then picked up a second egg, peeled it, sprinkled on salt and pepper, and dug in.

Now Shen Feng swallowed several times.

Seeing Lin Yi enjoy it so much made him wonder—was it really that good?

To be honest, it wasn’t that Shen Feng really wanted the egg.

He just wanted to try one because Lin Yi was eating it. So Shen Feng began plotting to sneak one.

He crouched down casually and, after a pause, reached toward one of the buried eggs but as he did, he kept glancing at Lin Yi to see if he was being watched.

They were close now, right? Surely Lin Yi wouldn’t mind if he took one?

After thinking for a bit, Shen Feng suddenly hardened his resolve.

Yeah! It’s just an egg, it’s not a big deal.

If Lin Yi really wanted eggs, he could send him a whole truckload.

With that thought, he firmly decided, Yes! He’ll take one!

He was the proud young master of the Shen family. How could he not get a single egg?!

So, in the next second, Shen Feng brazenly reached out for one, no longer sneaky about it…

But just then, Lin Yi suddenly spoke, “You…”

Startled, Shen Feng jumped like a mouse hearing a cat. He yanked his hand back and quickly stood up, backing away from the eggs.

Then he looked over and realized Lin Yi had actually been talking to someone else, not even looking at him.

    Shen Feng: “……”

So he got scared for nothing?

Netizens in the livestream were howling.

【LOL I thought Shen Feng was tough, but turns out… this??】

【OMG, what a contrast. He acts all aloof, but in front of Lin Yi, he’s totally soft.】

    【I love it. So shippable!!】

After recovering, Shen Feng went to grab an egg again but during the few seconds he froze, all the eggs were taken.

    Shen Feng: “……”

So what do those eggs even taste like?!?

Can’t someone let him try one?!

    Meanwhile—

Huo Mianmian was also eating an egg, taking small bites. Then he suddenly had a thought.

He had heard eggs can hatch chicks in warm places.

So, if he buried one in the sand, would a chick hatch?

Inspired, he quickly finished his egg and went to the supply area, grabbing a raw one.

He returned to the spot where Lin Yi had buried the eggs and used a twig to dig a hole.

Worried the sand was too hot and might cook the egg, he dug a deeper hole to lower the temperature.

Once the hole was ready, he placed the egg inside and said to himself, “Little chick, hurry up and hatch~”

    【Mianmian is just too cute.】

【I’m gonna cast spells and pray for that chick to hatch.】

【Wait, can eggs really hatch in the sand like that??】

【Who knows. As long as Mianmian’s having fun, that’s what matters.】

After burying the egg, Huo Mianmian ran to tell Lin Yi, eyes sparkling.

“Xiao Ba, I’m hatching a baby chick!”

Lin Yi was stunned for a second, then smiled, “You buried an egg in the sand?”

Huo Mianmian nodded hard, “We’ll have a little chick soon!”

Lin Yi encouraged him, “Good job, Mianmian!”

From then on, every few minutes, Mianmian would go check on his chick.

Sadly, no matter how many times he checked, nothing hatched.

He looked a bit disappointed but still dutifully kept checking in.

Then, just as he went back to the tent—

Someone emerged from the neighboring one.

    It was Shen Feng.

He still couldn’t stop thinking about those eggs.

Finally, he decided to bury his own and cook one but when he reached the egg spot, he noticed a mound of sand.

Did Lin Yi leave one behind?

Excited, Shen Feng used a twig to dig it up—and sure enough, there was an egg.

    【Noooo! That’s Mianmian’s chick egg!!】

    【Shen Feng, you fool!!】

    【Stop right now!!!】

Shen Feng couldn’t hear the desperate cries of the viewers. He grabbed the egg, cracked it like Lin Yi had, sprinkled salt and pepper, and took a big bite…

He was instantly surprised—this really was tasty!

No wonder Lin Yi had been so into it!

Just then, Mianmian came out to check on his chick again but this time, not only was there no chick, the egg was gone.

He stared blankly at the empty pit and murmured, “Where’s my egg?”

    Shen Feng: “……”

He looked at Mianmian, then at the egg in his hand.

    So this wasn’t Lin Yi’s egg—it was Mianmian’s?

He, a grown man, had just stolen a kid’s egg?

How embarrassing. His whole reputation was in shambles.

No way could anyone else find out about this!

Determined to cover his tracks, Shen Feng stuffed the rest of the egg into his mouth but he choked from eating too fast and started coughing violently, “Cough cough cough—”

    The noise distracted Mianmian.

He looked over at Shen Feng with big, innocent eyes.

Under that pure gaze, Shen Feng panicked and coughed even harder.

【LOL never thought we’d see Shen Feng like this.】

    【No one can resist Mianmian’s innocent stare—no one!!】

At that moment, Lin Yi stepped out of the tent after hearing the commotion.

Seeing Shen Feng coughing like mad, he was puzzled.

Still, he grabbed a bottle of water, opened it, and handed it over.

Shen Feng gratefully took it and chugged half the bottle in one go, finally catching his breath.

Then Lin Yi calmly asked, “Did you do something you’re guilty about?”

Shen Feng nearly jumped out of his skin.

    Could Lin Yi read minds??

Of course he denied it. “Of course not! Why would I feel guilty?!”

Lin Yi raised an eyebrow. “Really? Then why do you look so suspicious?”

    Shen Feng: “……”

He quickly averted his gaze, avoiding eye contact.

Lin Yi didn’t press further and walked over to Mianmian.

The boy stood by the empty sand pit, looking dazed.

When he saw Lin Yi, he looked up. “Xiao Ba, the egg I buried to hatch my chick is gone.”

Lin Yi glanced toward Shen Feng and pretty much figured out what had happened.

He gently patted Mianmian’s head. “Why do you think it disappeared?”

Mianmian thought hard, then answered, “Did the chick already hatch and run away?”

A child’s imagination always runs wild.

    It’s part of their charm.

Lin Yi smiled, “I think so too.”

Mianmian beamed, “I really hatched a chick!”

Lin Yi nodded, “Of course. You worked so hard—of course it hatched.”

Mianmian’s eyes curved like little crescent moons.

Then the two of them walked back to the tent, chatting all the way.

Shen Feng, still holding the half-empty water bottle, stood frozen in place, relieved.

    Phew. Crisis averted.

Wait—did Lin Yi really not know it was him?

Or did he know and just didn’t say anything?

Later in the afternoon, a local villager arrived with a few camels.

They would soon ride the camels to a nearby village.

It was the guests’ first time seeing camels up close, and everyone looked amazed.

The kids, especially, stared wide-eyed with curiosity.

The camels were tall and majestic, truly deserving the title “ships of the desert.” One of them bent down to nibble on some nearby cactus.

Despite the sharp spines, it bit right in and chewed without hesitation.

    The children gasped.

“Why isn’t the camel afraid of the cactus thorns?”

“Is its mouth made of iron?”

    “Wow, that’s amazing!”

The livestream comments blew up too.

【Not gonna lie, I was shocked the first time I saw a camel eat cactus too.】

【Just watching made my mouth hurt.】

【Nature is amazing—every creature has its own superpower.】

Soon, the guests climbed onto the camels.

With two humps, the camels could seat people comfortably in between.

Lin Yi first lifted Huo Mianmian onto the camel, then climbed up behind him to keep him safe.

Sitting atop the camel, Mianmian’s eyes were wide with wonder—clearly thrilled.

    Lin Yi asked, “Having fun?”

Mianmian’s little voice brimmed with joy. “Yeah!”

Lin Yi said, “Then sit tight. We’re about to go.”

    “Mm!”

Soon, the villagers led the camels forward.

They moved slowly but steadily, barely rocking at all.

Riding camels through the desert gave a whole new perspective. They had a wide view of the rolling dunes, a breathtaking sight.

They rode past hills and eventually a ruined ancient city.

It was now just crumbling walls eroded by wind and sand, only fragments remained. But from those ruins, one could tell the place was once bustling with life.

Now it was merely a memory buried in the sands.

The scene stirred a quiet sense of awe.

After stopping briefly, they continued on.

Half an hour later, they reached a village.

There were few signs of modern life. The houses were built from earth and stone—simple and natural.

Once inside, they dismounted and walked.

The production team had arranged for the guests to stay with a local family for the night.

    The hosts welcomed them warmly.

As soon as they arrived, the hostess brought out a tray of fresh fruit—grapes, Hami melon, and apples.

The fruit had been chilled in well water, cool and refreshing, just like out of a fridge.

Lin Yi popped two grapes into his mouth and closed his eyes in contentment. They were icy, sweet and tart—the perfect treat on a hot summer day.

Meanwhile, Huo Mianmian wasn’t eating fruit.

He had spotted an owl perched on a tree in the yard and was instantly intrigued.

He took a few steps forward to watch it.

The owl sat on a branch, fluffy and round, with wide, staring eyes.

It seemed to be looking at Mianmian too.

    So Mianmian stared right back.

Then he noticed how round and big the owl’s eyes were—so he tried to open his own even wider.

And just like that, boy and bird entered a staring contest.

After a few grapes, Lin Yi noticed Mianmian standing still in the distance, staring intently.

Following his gaze, he saw the owl in the tree.

Lin Yi couldn’t help but laugh.

Were they competing to see who could stare longer?

The owl was adorable and fluffy.

Mianmian, small and soft, was even cuter.

Two little cuties locked in a battle of wills.

Mianmian even clenched his tiny fists at his sides, as if cheering himself on. His round eyes looked like black glass—opened as wide as possible, unbelievably cute.

    Time passed.

At last, the owl gave up and flew away.

Mianmian jumped in place, then ran joyfully to Lin Yi. “Xiao Ba! I made the owl fly away!”

Lin Yi laughed, “Haha! That’s right. Our Mianmian is so amazing, even the owl couldn’t win!”

    【Cutest kid ever!】

【Having a staring contest with an owl?! Too adorable!!】
