Becoming the Personal Doctor of a Sickly Boss
Xu Xiliu transmigrated into a classic “redemption” novel as the private doctor to the mentally unstable protagonist gong. Not only was he on-call 24/7, but he was also frequently dragged out of bed in the middle of the night to tend to the manic CEO in his luxurious yet eerily empty mansion.
As the protagonist gong destined to be redeemed by the sunny, wholesome shou, the big boss came with all the usual CEO ailments—gastritis, migraines—and a fragile mental state to top it off. When he had an episode, all the servants fled in fear. Only Xu Xiliu, due to his profession, had no choice but to face the madness head-on.
Late at night.
Butler: Dr. Xu, the master is having another episode—again! Please come to the villa!
Xu Xiliu (grumpily throwing off his blanket): That’s gonna cost extra!
Rushing over, Xu Xiliu found the study in chaos. Under the dim moonlight, the man stood bloodied, barefoot on shattered glass, his crimson eyes gleaming with a cold, deranged grin.
“The world isn’t worth it! I want all of you to die with me!”
Calmly stepping forward, Xu Xiliu was well-prepared. Like a husky suddenly awakened at midnight, howling into the void, what we need now is—
Butler: What’s the plan?
Xu Xiliu, confidently: One injection, that’s all.
And so the world-ending plan was foiled—by a single tranquilizer shot.
Just as Xu Xiliu was getting used to this absurd routine, he discovered he had another identity.
He was actually an undercover agent planted by the villain to sabotage the protagonist gong!
His mission: gain the protagonist’s trust, tamper with his psychiatric medication, and wreck his health completely for the villain’s gain.
One day, the villain called.
Villain: Doctor, don’t forget who you are.
At the time, Xu Xiliu was dealing with a particularly deranged episode from the big boss and responded absentmindedly, “Mhm, sure, whatever you say.”
Villain: …Where are you with the mission?
Xu Xiliu suddenly realized—was this a status check?
He glanced at the lunatic rolling around on the floor, shouting “The king has fallen!” one moment and throwing things while screaming “Let’s go down together!” the next. After a pause, he replied with confidence:
Xu Xiliu: Under my meticulous efforts, the target’s cognitive function has regressed from a highly strategic human to a common breed of animal. He now harbors identity delusions.
Villain: …Say that in plain language.
Xu Xiliu: He’s turned into a husky and is tearing up the house.
Villain:

Qin Li’s mental state fluctuated wildly. As the nominal heir of the semi-toppled Qin family, he knew he was walking on a tightrope. One wrong step, and it would all come crashing down. Especially during his episodes, spies had wormed their way into every corner of his life.
Laying low, he slowly weeded out the threats—until his gaze fell on his close and ever-dutiful private doctor.
Qin Li: He’s acting way too obedient. He must be a mole.
Thus began his paranoia and testing.
One night, Qin Li faked an episode and summoned the doctor to his lavish yet empty villa. He dismissed all the servants and waited in the study, hoping to catch the doctor letting his guard down.
Instead, the doctor walked in like he owned the place, calmly took the boss’s usual seat, sprawled lazily, and pulled out something round and flat.
Xu Xiliu: slurping sounds
Qin Li: ?
Qin Li was convinced the doctor was up to no good—even during a breakdown, he remembered his mission. He snatched a vial hidden in the doctor’s bag and sneered maliciously.
“This is the stuff you’re using to tamper with my meds, isn’t it? Poison? Some slow-acting drug?”
“Eat it—or I’ll have you jailed. Your choice.”
Watching the doctor’s calm expression shift to surprise, Qin Li smiled even darker.
No one escapes my control.
But he failed to notice the strange glint in the doctor’s eyes.
As the doctor slowly popped the tablet into his mouth, Qin Li moved closer to savor the look of terror on his face—
Only to see him munching happily, eyes half-closed in bliss.
Qin Li: …?
Xu Xiliu: It’s a sugar pill, dumbass!
