ETP Ch 80
by soapaTo be honest, Sungyeon didn’t know the details about rut, the Alphas’ heat period.
That was understandable, as the only heat period Sungyeon knew and had experienced was an Omega’s heat cycle, and even that was shortly after he had entered Bokseung’s body.
As ill luck would have it, thanks to the triple combo of a severe hangover, Sungyeon’s forty-ninth-day memorial rite, and the side effects of suppressants, he didn’t even go through a proper heat cycle; it was more like he just suffered and ailed for a week before it ended.
Since he couldn’t even get through his own heat cycle properly, it was impossible for him to have information about other traits.
Moreover, the only trait community Sungyeon frequented was one where most members were Omegas. Information about Alphas was like finding a needle in a haystack.
And naturally, Sungyeon had no interest whatsoever in the Alpha trait. Until a few weeks ago, he had firmly believed he would marry a Beta woman!
What he had recently searched for in the community wasn’t about the heat period, but rather general information about the relationships between Alphas and Omegas. Of course, that alone had been quite a shock.
In any case, the graphic details Sunjung shared were beyond Sungyeon’s imagination, causing his fists to clench automatically.
On top of that, Sunjung’s words from when he visited Yoohyun’s house—”He goes bonkers during his rut because of the built-up pheromones”—resurfaced and swirled, filling his mind.
Goes bonkers? How much? To the point that medicine doesn’t work at all?
His head already felt like it was about to explode just from the general information about how Alphas spend their rut, so he hadn’t been able to hear any of the supplementary explanations Sunjung was giving for a while now.
In Sungyeon’s imagination, Yoohyun was already unable to control his body’s heat and was running wild with other nameless Omegas.
That can’t happen!!
“Sunbae-nim! I’ll be going first!”
“Huh? No, I’ll give you a ride. Just wait a bit.”
“No, I have to go!”
Sunjung told the frantic-looking Bokseung to wait a moment and ran to the parking lot.
However, by the time Sunjung brought the car out of the parking lot, there was no trace of the boy left. It seemed he couldn’t wait and had run out to the main street.
What’s he in such a hurry for? Wasn’t he just going home anyway?
Sunjung tilted his head as he looked around the empty street. He tried calling Bokseung right away, but as expected, he couldn’t get through. Of course, the same went for Hwang Yoohyun.
Well, is Hwang Yoohyun in his right mind now? He’s probably groaning, steeped in suppressants. It was a mystery why he was so stubborn every time, taking suppressants that were bad for his body.
Sunjung rested his chin on the steering wheel and smacked his lips with a ‘tch’.
Seeing Bokseung’s attitude, it wasn’t like the two had made any progress. If there had been progress, there’s no way he wouldn’t have known about Yoohyun’s rut.
But why does something keep bothering me? Is it because I’m the culprit who spilled the beans about Yoohyun’s rut so easily? No, that was solved because Bokseung said he’d keep it a secret.
Hmm, but what if the reason Bokseung ran off was to meet Hwang Yoohyun…?
He wouldn’t forget about the promise to keep it a secret and tell Hwang Yoohyun everything, would he?
“Nah, that’s too much!”
Sunjung chuckled with a ‘kyak-kyak’ sound, his huge, bear-like shoulders shaking. He wasn’t too worried. It was because, naturally, he didn’t think Bokseung would know where Yoohyun was right now.
So, he assumed that even if Bokseung disappeared in a flash like this, the two would not meet. Sunjung was running a positive circuit in his head, thinking, ‘Bokseung was probably a little startled and just wanted to go home alone.’
He hoped it would be a small episode that could be laughed off, or that it would pass by quietly without any incident.
However, belying Sunjung’s hopes, Bokseung—no, Sungyeon—already knew the address of the house where Yoohyun was staying.
As he ran toward the main street, Sungyeon recalled the message where he had gotten the address from Yoohyun before he left the house.
For some reason, I really wanted to get that address back then.
Sungyeon praised his own foresight and vigorously opened the door of a taxi waiting at the bus stop. Then, he showed the address written in the text message to the taxi driver who asked where he wanted to go.
“Please take me here!”
“Huh? Here?”
“Yes!”
The taxi driver entered the address into the navigation system and began to speed up.
As the surrounding scenery changed rapidly through the window, his heartbeat also pounded faster and faster. Sungyeon keenly felt the presence of the heart inside Bokseung’s small torso and bit his lip hard.
So, Hwang Yoohyun is in rut right now, right?
‘For an Alpha, a rut means I can’t control my own sexual desires. Rationally, I know I shouldn’t be like this. But what can I do? If I don’t, it feels like one of three things will burst: my heart, my head, or that place. So at that time, I just do it. Until it calms down. Um, you know, right? That place. I do it until that place calms down quietly again.’
Sungyeon had been utterly horrified as his gaze followed where Sunjung’s finger was pointing.
Of course, he had heard that Omegas also get overwhelmed with sexual desire during their heat cycle and want to grab anyone, even if it’s not their partner. However, Sungyeon had blocked it with suppressants before that desire even arose, so instead, he had lived like a walking zombie with all his desires gone.
Therefore, the heat cycle as Sungyeon knew it was just ‘my condition gets really bad.’
That was also why the community posts didn’t hit him hard. He hadn’t experienced it himself.
But now that Yoo Sunjung, an Alpha who had experienced ruts himself, was saying such things, wouldn’t it be a wake-up call?
Yoohyun, being a dominant Alpha, would have it worse than Sunjung, not milder.
Sungyeon realized that his earlier imagination about the engagement was child’s play.
How could he know what kind of Omega Yoohyun might have called over to his house at this very moment to keep himself from going bonkers?
Would he even remember saying he liked Bokseung? He would be spending his time being faithful to his instincts right now.
Clenching his trembling fists tightly, Sungyeon tried hard not to rush the taxi driver.
“Thank you!”
Fortunately, before Sungyeon could rush him, the taxi arrived in front of the building where Yoohyun was currently staying.
Sungyeon took his card back and hurried on his way. Even as he walked, his eyes were busy looking around at the building where Yoohyun would be.
The place he was at was not a single, standalone building like the officetel they had lived in, but a large apartment complex.
He had made it here, but there was the problem that he couldn’t get in without Yoohyun’s permission either.
Sungyeon stood in front of the building line where Yoohyun’s unit was and pondered for a moment. He still didn’t know the passcode for the officetel and had only just gotten a key card when he started living alone, so how would he know the passcode for a temporary residence?
His phone seemed to be off; since a while ago, both messages and calls had been completely out of reach.
It couldn’t be helped. Since it had come to this, the only way was to ring the bell until Yoohyun opened it.
Sungyeon took a long, deep breath and pressed the call button.
He had no plan whatsoever on what to do after storming into Yoohyun’s place. Just the thought of him spending this time with another Omega was making him so hot-headed he felt like he would go crazy.
“I have to tear them apart right now.”

Yoohyun let out a cynical smile at the situation that did not deviate one bit from his expectations. Not long after contacting Bokseung, a different kind of heat was racing to the tips of his fingers and toes. It affected his brain and heart, which he usually wasn’t even aware of, and all the organs in his body squirmed, making their presence known.
“Ugh!”
With his jaw muscles bulging, Yoohyun once again tossed the suppressants he had received from the clinic into his mouth.
He had already taken one in the morning, but he instinctively felt that it wouldn’t be enough.
As expected, his judgment was correct. Even while practically pouring suppressants down his throat, the arousal didn’t properly subside. It was a level of heat that would have made him lose his sanity and then some if he had taken the proper dosage at the right time.
All he could do, barely holding on to the sliver of rationality he had left, was to just fidget. Unlike his previous ruts, he now had a specific subject for his fantasies, so it was an unavoidable instinct that his pheromones were running wilder.
Thinking of someone else’s hands instead of his own, imagining someone else’s body instead of his own, all he could do was hope for this shitty time to pass quickly.
The only fortunate thing was that he had broken his phone, so he couldn’t contact Bokseung. He was relieved that he had no means to follow his brain’s command to bring Bokseung over right now and devour him completely.
In a corner of the room where there wasn’t even the smallest speck of light, Yoohyun let out ragged breaths.
He didn’t even know how much time had passed. Everything that touched his body was a stimulus.
“Haa…”
He thought he should probably take another dose of medicine. The fact that he had already taken more than half of the medicine he had received and that his judgment was gradually becoming clouded because of it was not very important to him right now.
That is, if it had been before Bokseung appeared before his eyes.
