    Loves Balance
    Chapter Index

Jooyoung bit his lower lip slightly, like someone who had just realized they had made a mistake.

    ——-

“Can I check the CCTV footage?”

Sunwoo, who had been surprised and asked what was missing, looked troubled at the mention of CCTV.

“The boss has to be here for that. I don’t know the camera password. Should I contact him now?”

Jooyoung had assumed Sunwoo would be able to access the CCTV too, since he handled pretty much all the day-to-day operations of the lodging house. Hiding his bitter feelings, Jooyoung shook his hand.

“I’ll take another look myself. No need to contact him just yet.”

“Alright, if you don’t find it, just come back. We can call the boss and check then.”

Jooyoung firmly reminded him again not to contact Dohyun—worried he might do so anyway. But in the end, it seemed Dohyun found out.

    ——

Dohyun didn’t miss the way Jooyoung’s yellowish iris wavered. Smirking, he said loud enough for him to hear, “Guess it was a lie.”

“If you’re that curious, why not come see it with me?”

Startled, Jooyoung shot Dohyun a sharp look. Only then did Dohyun realize the hidden reason behind Jooyoung’s actions.

“Oh, no way. You were gonna delete it?”

    “…”

    “You’ve got some nerve.”

Dohyun flicked Jooyoung’s cheek with his index finger.

Jooyoung irritably swatted the hand away, and Dohyun chuckled, “And you really have no fear at all.”

Even Jooyoung had to admit—it was a reckless plan. But he was always impulsive. Once the urge hit, his body moved before his brain could stop it. By the time he came to his senses, it was already too late.

Just like the incident that got him stuck in Maeyang…

    “…Ugh.”

At that moment, unfamiliar warmth touched his knee. A hand, hot, in contrast to his own.

    “Can I go again?”

Dohyun asked as he slowly rubbed his thumb over Jooyoung’s knee. His erection was already fully hardened. The speed of his recovery was disturbingly fast.

    “…”

Jooyoung frowned at the sight of it bobbing, pressed tightly against his abdomen. He found it strange that Dohyun was even asking for permission. Everything he said seemed deliberately provocative, and the sex had happened because of blackmail. And yet… now he was asking for permission every step of the way.

Even with his fully erect cock and the veins twitching from his abdomen down, Dohyun didn’t force himself onto him. He only moved his hands when Jooyoung gave some signal of consent.

On one hand, Jooyoung wondered why he even bothered asking—he couldn’t say no anyway. But from his perspective, it wasn’t such a bad thing. If Dohyun ever used brute strength, he wouldn’t be able to resist at all.

    “If we go again…”

    “…”

    “That counts separately, right?”

    “…Ha.”

Dohyun scoffed as if Jooyoung’s attempt to define terms was ridiculous. But for Jooyoung, it was important.

    “Then go ahead.”

With that, Jooyoung relaxed his legs slightly. His pale thighs spread before Dohyun like a snowfield.

    Dohyun’s jaw briefly clenched.

    “…”

Those cool eyes should have annoyed him. The fact that Jooyoung was still calculating things while they were in this situation should have irritated him.

But all Dohyun felt was urgency. He just wanted to see those sharp eyes shut tight again, and make that expression soaked with desire and need.

He let out a low growl in his throat as he tore open a new condom wrapper. His hands rushed to part Jooyoung’s legs. His action was so different from how he had asked for permission a moment before.

    ***

The convenience store near the futsal field was crowded with guys. Barely dressed, they radiated heat and the strong smell of sweat.

    “What’s with this guy lately?”

Junwoo, stepping outside with a sports drink, tapped Hangyeol’s knee as he sat, grinning like a fool. A few guys smoking outside the store glanced over.

    “You don’t know?”

“Yeah, Hangyeol’s been acting all weird lately.”

“Bet you anything it’s a girl.”

They whispered among themselves, saying the way he constantly stared at his phone and randomly smiled must mean he’s seeing someone.

“Yo, Jung Hangyeol, did you just get a girl or what?”

One of them asked. Sitting cross-legged in a plastic chair, Hangyeol shrugged and set his phone down.

    “I’m everybody’s man, you know?”

    “Cut the crap.”

Junwoo lifted his lighter hand like he was about to smack him. Hangyeol dodged, laughing with a twist of his neck.

“Don’t keep all the fun to yourself—show us too. Who is it?”

“Isn’t it the one from the karaoke place? The one who kept clinging to Jung Hangyeol all night?”

“Oh, the one with the perm?”

The group crowded around the parasol table, throwing out theories. Hangyeol ignored them and kept tapping his screen, checking for a notification.

    “Hwangdo, Hwangdo.”

Clicking his tongue at the sight, Junwoo slowly turned his body toward Dohyun, who was sitting in the opposite chair. Dohyun, staring blankly into space, only moved his eyes to look at him. Junwoo, as if he’d been waiting, pulled his chair closer.

“You and Park Haedam got something going on?”

Dohyun, who had been immersed in a single thought, paused briefly to remember who Park Haedam was.

    “Park Haedam?”

“Yeah, Kang Sieun’s classmate. The one with the bob.”

Junwoo waved the side of his hand back and forth below his ear to indicate hair length. Only then did Dohyun remember.

    “Nothing going on.”

At Dohyun’s indifferent answer, Junwoo asked, as if seeking permission, “Then… mind if I hit her up?” His watchful gaze was cautious. Dohyun straightened up from the chair he’d been leaning against.

    “Do whatever.”

    “Hell yeah.”

Junwoo grinned brightly and slumped back against the seat. With Dohyun’s go-ahead, he seemed relieved and started babbling unsolicited commentary.

“When we were drinking the other day, I felt a little spark.”

    “…”

“At first I thought she had something with you…”

Dohyun reached for the sports drink on the table. His sweat-soaked shirt clung to him, and since he had taken his arms out of the sleeves, the bulging of his thick muscles was clearly visible as he moved. Junwoo twisted his own body this way and that to compare, then muttered a half-defeated curse.

    “Damn it.”

Ignoring his grumbling about how you can’t beat genetics, Dohyun gulped down a sports drink. He wiped his mouth roughly with the back of his hand, then shook out his sweat-drenched hair. Droplets of sweat scattered, trickling down the smooth lines of his muscles. Since he had just finished exercising, his muscles were more pumped than usual.

    “…With the pawnshop hyung.”

Just then, a name that had been nagging at Dohyun caught his ear. He turned without thinking.

“The hell? That came out of nowhere.”

The group gathered around Hangyeol, who was sitting in a chair, looked surprised. They had naturally assumed he was talking to a girl. So when he mentioned “Jooyoung-i hyung,” they couldn’t hide their shock.

“When did you two get close?”

“Didn’t he give you attitude last time?”

    Even Junwoo, unusually, showed interest.

    “Jooyoung-i hyung? Who’s that again?”

    “The guy from the pawnshop.”

    “Oh, the pawnshop.”

Junwoo nodded, then stopped mid-motion, frowning. “Hangyeol’s talking to that hyung? Why?” Not just Junwoo—everyone had the same reaction. They all knew Hangyeol was friendly and sociable, but Jooyoung was a completely different breed, like oil and water, from the rest of them.

“Just because?” Hangyeol shrugged, giving a half-assed answer. His eyes still didn’t leave his phone, but a sudden smile crept onto his face—he must’ve gotten a reply.

“Hyung’s personality is seriously good, you know.”

    “Good?”

Leaning back, Junwoo shook his head and said indifferently, “He seems rude, tho.” A few others chimed in agreement. Hangyeol, finally setting down his phone, blinked innocently as he looked around at them.

“Maybe hyung acts like that around you guys ‘cause y’all look like assholes?”

His index finger moves back and forth between the other guys.

“Meanwhile, me, Hangyeol-i, I got the face, after all.”

Despite the tattoos and piercings being the most noticeable at first glance, Hangyeol was undeniably good-looking. No one could really argue with that.

    “Fucking bastard.”

    “Yeah. Sorry for being good-looking.”

    “…”

“I should go tell hyung to stop by our restaurant~”

Humming a tune, Hangyeol quickly typed out another text. He looked so upbeat that it gave off the impression he was flirting with a girl.

    “…”

Dohyun stared at Hangyeol with a blank expression. He knew they were on friendly terms, but he hadn’t realized they were close enough for casual texting.

He picked up his phone from the table. After scrolling through his notifications, he saw that Jooyoung wasn’t among them.

A vague discomfort began to crawl up from the tips of his toes.
