    06. Woo Chahyeon: Roommate

    Taegyeong looked unusually pale today.

His white cheeks and scabbed lips, the red and purple bruises covering his hands and neck—anyone could see he was in bad shape, and employees would occasionally glance back at him.

“Taegyeong-ssi, if you’re not feeling well, how about leaving early today?”

    “Yes? …Ah, I’m fine!”

    Taegyeong smiled brightly.

To think he was putting on a brave face so they wouldn’t worry when he looked so unwell. The Field Team Z office workers stared at Taegyeong with surprised expressions.

Taegyeong diligently carried out his assigned tasks. A thousand dungeon information files that Team Leader Choi Yoonmin had casually dumped on him, telling him to familiarize himself with the work. It was too much.

Yet, the employees were oblivious. They assumed Taegyeong was getting along well with the Field Team Z espers.

Just then, Seo Wooyeol entered the office in his field gear.

    “Guide Lee Taegyeong.”

    “Yes.”

“I’m going to get coffee, what do you want?”

This was usually how it went. They acted friendly on the surface, but behind the scenes, they boldly harassed and raped him.

    “Iced Americano.”

Seo Wooyeol asked the other employees for their orders and casually left. Then, the employees started whispering. Did you see Esper Seo Wooyeol being so nice to the guide? No one answered that they hadn’t.

“Taegyeong-ssi, isn’t it difficult guiding Esper Seo Wooyeol?”

Um, it’s okay. Our compatibility rate is high.”

The employee next to him patted his shoulder sympathetically. Taegyeong listened to their advice attentively, then rested his chin on his hand. He glanced at his monitor, the desktop cluttered with folder icons, and smiled faintly.

    About 20 minutes later.

Taegyeong gathered his heavy box of documents and his bag and stood up. He exhaled softly and gripped the handles of the box tightly. He nodded slightly when the employee next to him asked if he was okay.

Suddenly, Taegyeong’s body tilted backward. The chair rolled back with a loud thud. The documents spilled out of the box, scattering everywhere.

Startled by the noise, the employees looked up.

    “Taegyeong-ssi!”

    “Guide-nim!”

Seo Wooyeol, who had just entered with the coffees, froze at the doorway. His face turned pale, and he dropped the cups he was holding.

Splash— Seo Wooyeol stepped on the plastic cups and rushed towards Taegyeong.

    “Hey… Lee Taegyeong, Lee Taegyeong!”

    Heu… euk.”

His ragged breathing was alarming. His wavelengths were fluctuating wildly.

Seo Wooyeol scooped Taegyeong into his arms and ran out of the office. His slender limbs dangled limply. Seo Wooyeol, breathless from running, kicked open the infirmary door.

    “What happened?!”

Seon Hanyeong, seeing the unconscious Taegyeong, shouted.

    “I don’t know. He suddenly collapsed…!”

Hanyeong, who had been waiting after receiving a call, was already wearing his doctor’s coat.

As soon as Seo Wooyeol laid Taegyeong on the bed, Hanyeong rushed over to check on him. He had a high fever and was unconscious. It was clearly from overwork. He must have been guiding non-stop. Even though he looked like he was sleeping peacefully, it could have been serious if he’d suffered a cerebral hemorrhage from overwork.

“…Didn’t I tell you to take it easy?”

Hanyeong’s voice was low and menacing. His sharp gaze pierced Seo Wooyeol. Seo Wooyeol sighed deeply, cursing under his breath.

    “Who knew this would happen?”

“It hasn’t even been two weeks since Taegyeong joined. Have you guys ever given him a break, day or night?”

Won Jeonghyeon, who had just arrived after hearing the news, brushed his hair back and approached Taegyeong’s bedside. Won Seungyu, intimidated by the angry Hanyeong, was hiding behind a pillar.

    “Stop it, Won Seungyu!”

    Ah, fuck…!”

Won Seungyu ruffled his hair and ran away.

Hanyeong gripped the side of the bed and lowered his head. When he received the call about Taegyeong collapsing, his hands trembled, and he could barely breathe. Taegyeong looked peaceful in his sleep, but his body was covered in bruises.

“…Both of you, get out. I’ll talk to the Team Leader, so you two inform the others.”

Seo Wooyeol and Won Jeonghyeon, scolded by Hanyeong, left without a word. Hanyeong inserted an IV into the back of Taegyeong’s hand and stared at him for a while before turning away.

As soon as everyone looked away, Taegyeong, who had been feigning unconsciousness, opened his eyes slightly.

‘I didn’t think this would work.’

Making his wavelengths fluctuate wildly was child’s play for the regressed Taegyeong.

Taegyeong lay in bed, occasionally groaning so Hanyeong could hear. Before his regression, he’d foolishly endured the pain alone, hiding his suffering even when he was hurting. But he needed to do this sometimes so they would realize how precious their guide was.

He had no other intentions. Taegyeong simply wanted to enjoy healthy sex with this body for a long, long time.

    * * *

There were still many Field Team Z espers Taegyeong hadn’t met yet. Espers on long-term overseas assignments rarely returned before completing their missions. Therefore, the room next to Taegyeong remained empty.

The room had an owner, but it lacked warmth. A spacious two-bedroom apartment that could easily accommodate ten people. Taegyeong’s roommate was Woo Chahyeon.

A publicly recognized esper. With unforgettable, distinct features, a model-like physique, and the ability to wield telekinesis like magic, Woo Chahyeon was a world-renowned figure.

    ‘Ah, who is it…?’

However, Taegyeong was more preoccupied with a memory that had recently surfaced than with Woo Chahyeon’s return today.

‘Lee Taegyeong. Who gave you that necklace?’

Five years ago, which esper had given him the necklace? If they were generous enough to give him an expensive necklace, wouldn’t their relationship have been more than just friends?

‘First… it can’t be Hanyeong-hyung, Seo Wooyeol, Won Seungyu, or Ryu Ilho. And not Team Leader Choi either.’

    Could it be Won Jeonghyeon?

Unlike the other four, who had jumped him with lustful eyes, Won Jeonghyeon had suppressed his desires. …No, no. Even if he cherished him, Taegyeong was only attracted to Jeonghyeon’s body, not in love with him.

Seo Wooyeol for his face, Seon Hanyeong for his voice, Ryu Ilho for his physique, Choi Yoonmin for their sexual compatibility. He couldn’t remember which esper he’d chosen five years ago, abandoning all of them.

    ‘Excluding those five.’

Taegyeong narrowed down the remaining candidates.

Won Jeonghyeon, Shin Jehwan, Kwon Jingyu, Woo Chahyeon.

These four had the financial means to acquire an expensive necklace. But he couldn’t rule out the other three either, as it could have been an item with unique functionalities, unavailable anywhere else.

‘Maybe a treasure from a gate?’

He wasn’t even sure if all his memories had returned. So, he couldn’t rule out Seo Wooyeol, Seon Hanyeong, Won Seungyu, and Choi Yoonmin either.

‘It definitely wouldn’t be Ryu Ilho.’

    Beep, beep, beep.

The sound of the door lock keypad broke the silence. Taegyeong slowly sat up, looking towards the front door.

“Just leave the package there. It’s trash, I’m going to throw it away. Yeah, thanks.”

    It was Woo Chahyeon.

Despite his casual attire of a hoodie pulled low over his head, a black cap, and loose clothing, his toned arms were visible. He entered, carrying a backpack as big as Taegyeong’s torso, presumably filled with luggage.

He spotted Taegyeong standing in the living room and nodded in greeting. Assistants filed in, carrying boxes and suitcases.

    “Hello, Esper Woo Chahyeon.”

    “The new guide?”

“Yes! I’m Lee Taegyeong. You seem to have a lot of luggage, is there anything I can help you with?”

“Even if there is, there isn’t. Stay seated.”

    Ah, yes…”

Even if there is, there isn’t… Taegyeong flexed his wrists, which he’d considered quite muscular.

Chahyeon sighed, looking at the boxes filling the living room. Taegyeong pretended to watch TV, occasionally glancing at Chahyeon. He couldn’t see his face because of the hoodie and cap.

‘He must be hot with the heater on…’

“Guide-nim, is there something on my clothes?”

“No, nothing. I just noticed you’re still wearing your cap.”

Chahyeon, realizing his mistake, pulled back his hoodie. The cap also fell off. His slightly sweaty hair quickly dried after a few swipes with a towel.

    ‘…Bandages. He smells of antiseptic.’

His neck and the area below his ear were covered with bandages and medical tape. He must have been seriously injured for the scars to still be visible.

‘Ah, whatever. He must have been to the infirmary.’

Taegyeong lay down on the sofa, his thin shirt riding up. Chahyeon stared at him, his eyes widening slightly.

    “Guide-nim, I heard you’re a good guide.”

“Wow. All the way to the Middle East?”

“News travels fast. When can you guide me?”

“I’m free! Even now is fine.”
