    (Guild) DPSdrop: Ah… ohhh…
(Guild) SIS: So he was a pacifist; but still, I can’t believe this… he refused those rewards…
(Guild) Nyamnyangi: Well, if you hate PvP, I guess you could do that~

Still, there are occasional guilds that live quietly without doing anything, like the guild Ye Woo-won once belonged to, so everyone just let it go.

(Guild) Yewoo Beomjeol: Is Territory War very different from regular PvP?
(Guild) no.10: 😭 it’s a bit different😭😭 PvP is 1:1 duel in the arena, while Territory War or Showdown has a map, so you need to memorize terrain and follow rules…
    (Guild) Yewoo Beomjeol: Rules?
(Guild) no.10: Um, simply put, you kill people and steal flags stuck on their backs and collect them…😭😭

    Steal flags?
That explanation didn’t help Ye Woo-won much. After all, someone who never went to Territory War wouldn’t know anything to begin with.

(Guild) Nyamnyangi: Or do you want to go try a Territory War right now? You just go and fill in the set number of players
(Guild) SIS: Yeah, experience beats explanations

Go to a guild Territory War… right away?

Ye Woo-won looked at the screen, slightly troubled. He was curious, but with zero info, he had no clue how it actually worked.

‘There’s no way I could do that. I should look it up first and come back.’

He didn’t want to drop the guild’s win rate by stumbling into a Territory War blindly. He was about to politely decline and say he’d check it out, when—

(Guild) SIS: Or, Yewoo-nim, shall we just scrim among ourselves for practice? go?
    (Guild) Nyamnyangi: Whoa, scrim?
    (Guild) Jinhee: Scrim?????

    Scrim[1]?’

A scrim means having guild members face off against each other.

(Guild) Yewoo Beomjeol: You mean practice Territory War with just us?
(Guild) KongKang: Yep, if we set it as a practice match we can do Territory War just among ourselves, so come on >ㅇ< my mouth’s watering lesgo
    (Guild) ^Card^: 2v2 all-out go
    (Guild) HouseParty: Possible
(Guild) ITrustCactus: I can go too
    (Guild) SIS: me too
(Guild) Nyamnyangi: I’ll definitely go lol
    (Guild) no.10: 😭 I can too

The guild members pounced on the idea as if they’d been waiting. Apparently, they all liked PvP.

(Guild) DPSdrop: Wow so many volunteers lol shall we do 3:3 or 4:4?
(Guild) SIS: No no, start 2:2 to learn the map slowly and get a feel~~
(Guild) Nyamnyangi: lol then Yewoo-nim picks three people lolololol
    (Guild) Yewoo Beomjeol: Me???

This was moving too fast. How did the conversation get to this point? Ye Woo-won glanced at the guild leader, a bit bewildered, but—

(Guild) no.10: lol then let’s say only the three people Yewoo-nim invites will go. 😭

The guild leader raised the stakes.

(Guild) KongKang: Oh wow you have to be chosen to go? How thrilling >ㅅㅇ
(Guild) Jinhee: hahahahahaha throw the rose~~ please~!!![1]
    (Guild) HouseParty: My heart’s pounding.
(Guild) Yewoo Beomjeol: Uh.. then, one moment..

    How should he choose?

Should he just invite any three people to the party? As Ye Woo-won fretted, an invite popped up.

‘Oh, did the guild leader send it?’

He wondered if someone had kindly taken care of it for him, and reached to accept… but the inviter’s name made him flinch.

Kisekki has invited you to a party.

    What’s with this Ki-ocust [2]again?

He looked around, puzzled and met Kisekki’s eyes from afar. Kisekki stood alone away from the cluster, as if uninvolved with all this.

‘Did he press the wrong button?’

Another party invite all of a sudden—surely it was a mistake.

Ye Woo-won declined the invite. But then—

Kisekki has invited you to a party.

The invite came again immediately, and Ye Woo-won froze in confusion.

(Guild) DPSdrop: Okay, close your eyes and stand still. Now’s the appeal time~![2]
(Guild) KongKang: I closed my eyes tight. I really closed them~ >_<
    (Guild) Jinhee: Yewoo-nim >__<
(Guild) SIS: Babe, you’re there, right? I’m here. >_<

Looking around, it seemed none of the guildmates noticed Kisekki sending invites to Ye Woo-won. They were lined up, squealing happily.

    ‘I’ll just refuse for now.’

Earlier the party acceptance had led to the Ki-ocust incident.

But as soon as he refused, more invites came, and Kisekki became annoyingly persistent.

Kisekki has invited you to a party.
Kisekki has invited you to a party.
Kisekki has invited you to a party.
Kisekki has invited you to a party.

    Is this a Déjà vu?

It felt like the same thing had happened before.

    ‘But why?’

No explanation—just invites and a hard stare from afar. Ye Woo-won couldn’t figure out the intent and felt perplexed.

After staring between Kisekki and the guild members for a while, he finally couldn’t stand the relentless dinging and decided to accept just once.

    Guild Territory War – 2:2 –
    (User Setting) (Spectators: 0)
    TEAM 1
    1. Kisekki
    2. Yewoo Beomjeol

    TEAM 2
    1.
    2.

The room he entered was not against another guild but a user-configurable Territory War.

‘I thought he has gone AFK; it turns out he’d been watching this whole time.’

In other words, it was the scrim match the guild members had been chattering about.

(Dragon Knight) Yewoo Beomjeol: Kisekki-nim, are we doing a Territory War?

Ye Woo-won asked, bewildered, but Kisekki gave no reaction.

Just when he thought of leaving the room out of confusion—

(Guild) Nyamnyangi: Oh! I got an invite!!
(Guild) ITrustCactus: Gasp I got an invite too!!! Yay… cactus comrade~ comrade love nation—[3]
    (Guild) SIS: Wow jealous..

    They got invited?

Ye Woo-won stared at the guild chat in surprise. Weren’t they waiting for an invite from him?

But the mystery dissolved quickly into something almost laughable.

    Nyamnyangi joined.
    ITrustCactus joined.

The two of them entered the room where Ye Woo-won and Kisekki were already waiting, side by side.

    (Guild) ITrustCactus: …Love? Nation…? Com..rade?
(Guild) Nyamnyangi: ? Why is Kise-nim here..?
    (Guild) ITrustCactus: Huh…? What… is this…?
(Guild) Jinhee: Um?? Is something going on?

Nyamnyangi and ITrustCactus assumed, at that timing, that the invite obviously came from Yewoo Beomjeol, and they accepted without even checking the sender’s nickname.

But when they realized the one who sent the invite was actually Kisekki, they panicked. Ye Woo-won, of course, was still bewildered.

    Guild Territory War – 2:2 –
    (User Setting) (Spectators: 0)
    TEAM 1
    1. Kisekki
    2. Yewoo Beomjeol

    TEAM 2
    1. Nyamnyangi
    2. ITrustCactus

…And just like that, a sudden 2:2 Territory War was formed.

(Guild) KongKang: Huh, a Territory War practice room popped up in the guild. Why is Kise-nim the party leader??? ㅇ_ㅇ
    (Guild) no.10: ??😭????

Guild content can always be spectated by others. Hearing that a Territory War had been created, the guildmates pressed “Spectate.”

    Guild Territory War – 2:2 –
    TEAM 1
    1. Kisekki
    2. Yewoo Beomjeol

    TEAM 2
    1. Nyamnyangi
    2. ITrustCactus
(Spectator) DPSdrop: Wait fr why is Kisekki-nim over there..???? Did Yewoo-nim pick him??? But if so, he shouldn’t be the party leader??? Huh what is this???
(Spectator) Jinhee: Hooo~~~ how is this happening?

As spectators instantly filled up, Ye Woo-won remained completely confused.

(Assassin) Nyamnyangi: Why did Kise-nim pick us instead of Yewoo-nim..?
(Spectator) HouseParty: This is a foul. This is a foul.
(Spectator) SIS: Don’t know what’s happening but this is gonna be tasty[4] tremble it’ll be fun
(Spectator) KongKang: Ugh that side should’ve been mine..!

The guild members were confused as well, but since a 2:2 user-set Territory War was what they originally wanted anyway, they accepted it.

‘He invited us and still isn’t saying a word.’

What felt strange was that Kisekki, the one who caused all this, was completely silent.

    TL’s Note:
[1] So, around the Late 90s to early 2000s (If I remember correctly), dating shows were very popular in Korea. And in one of the most popular dating shows, the participant usually throws a rose at the opposite gender to show their interest in them. Since then, Korean TV shows often use this type of action to pick their partners (especially when they want to give off the 90s to early 2000s vibe.
[2] The same thing goes with this part; in the dating shows, each participant will do a talent show to appeal to the other participant. Then they will line up and close their eyes to wait to be picked by the participant they are interested in.
[3] 동기사랑 나라사랑 (Love my comrade, Love my country). It’s a phrase often used in the Korean military.

    Footnotes:

    1. Scrim: Scrim or Scrimmage is a gaming term usually used by eSport team. It's a practice match between two teams designed to improve skills, strategy, and communication without the pressure of official competition.
    2. Ki-ocust : It's Kisekki + Locust. Referring to previous chapter where Kisekki took out all the cactus plants before Ye Woo-won could gather any. So basically, Ye Woo-won called Kisekki a Locust.
