by jj.ssasipscoffeeChapter 6:This Is When You Should Kiss Me
When that sleek, gold-glittering luxury starship parked in front of the priests’ dormitory, Lin You once again felt the huge gap between him and his fiancé.
Even if he worked in the temple for ten years without eating or drinking, he still probably wouldn’t be able to afford such a top-tier vessel. Not to mention how Sade’s two-story “small villa” radiated understated luxury.
Seeing Lin You in a daze, Sade chuckled, “What are you staring at? Get in.” He even thoughtfully got out to help carry Lin You’s luggage, placing it in the starship’s rear hold. Then, he opened the front passenger seat door for Lin You to get in.
“Hello,” Lin You said softly, lowering his gaze as Sade took his suitcase.
Lin You sat stiffly next to Sade, a bit uncomfortable, placing the cat carrier on his lap. Mimi, curious and restless, kept nudging the opening with her head, trying to get out. Lin You had no choice but to unzip a small slit and stick his hand in to soothe her.
“Mimi, be good. We’ll be there soon,” he murmured gently.
“What’s her name?” Sade asked.
“Mimi,” Lin You replied.
“How long have you had her?” Sade realized now that he had never noticed Lin You keeping a pet before—clearly, he hadn’t been paying enough attention to Lin You.
“Almost two years.”
“She’s beautiful,” Sade praised sincerely. Lin You had obviously taken very good care of the cat. Her fluffy, soft white fur gave her a pampered, adorable look—even Sade couldn’t help but find Mimi cute.
“Mm.” Lin You gave a small, tight-lipped smile.
Lin You really lived up to his usual self—conversation dried up in a flash. But Sade didn’t mind at all. He drove the starship in good spirits. Although it only took about ten minutes to fly from the temple to the academy, Sade deliberately took the long route, enjoying this little detour. It was probably just an Alpha’s instinct—having such a stunning Omega by his side made him feel an uncontainable joy.
When Sade finally arrived at the academy with Lin You, even the short walk from the starship to the dorms caused a bit of a stir. Onlookers gathered quickly, and Lin You started to feel visibly embarrassed.
“……” He looked at Sade with wide, helpless eyes.
“It’s not my fault—I didn’t know you were this popular,” Sade quickly explained, trying not to laugh. The crowd wasn’t his doing.
“Don’t worry, you’re just too famous. They’re just curious—once they’ve seen you once, they’ll stop looking.” They hadn’t walked far when Lin You began walking faster, clearly uncomfortable. Sade frowned slightly and reached out to place a protective arm around Lin You’s slender shoulders, walking close as if shielding him.
“…You don’t have to do this,” Lin You muttered. After all, he wasn’t some fragile Omega in need of protection.
Sade didn’t respond. He wasn’t bothered by Lin You’s rejection and kept his arm around him all the way to the dormitory.
Once they arrived, Lin You scanned the door lock with his optical terminal, and the door opened immediately. Inside, the dorm was surprisingly decent—desk, wardrobe, bed, and full bathroom all provided.
Following the instructions, Lin You completed the check-in process at his desk. His terminal then received the training schedule.
After settling in, Lin You finally released Mimi from her carrier. The little cat was wary of the unfamiliar environment, crouching low with alert eyes. Lin You emitted a calming scent to soothe her, the air filling with a gentle olive fragrance. Even Sade was enveloped in its softness.
“Yuyou… you’re being way too relaxed right now.” Sade’s eyes darkened, suddenly dangerous—like something had provoked him. A low wave of ocean-scented pheromones slipped out from him, pressing toward Lin You.
“Isn’t there an isolation field?” Lin You looked at him in confusion. The room was equipped with scent and spiritual shielding, so that faint pheromone shouldn’t affect anyone else.
“I’m still here, aren’t I? Do you think my self-control is that amazing, or have you just stopped seeing me as an Alpha?” He reached out and gently cupped Lin You’s face, then pulled him into his arms.
It was only then that Lin You fully sensed Sade’s arousal and the assertive scent of the ocean. His whole body went rigid. Even Mimi scrambled out from his arms and fled to the top of the wardrobe in fear.
“S-sorry…” Lin You mumbled awkwardly, voice barely audible.
“Yuyou,” Sade chuckled, clearly amused, “This is when you’re supposed to kiss me… not apologize.”
Lin You was just too adorable. But Sade didn’t press him further. There was no rush—there was plenty of time.
He loosened his embrace and glanced around the room to make sure everything was in order. Then, he turned to leave.
“Take a rest for now. I’ll come get you for dinner later,” he said from the doorway.
“I brought some food—” Lin You frowned slightly, trying to decline.
“It’s settled then. See you later.” Sade didn’t give him a chance to finish and closed the door behind him.
Lin You was left alone in the room with Mimi… and that lingering, faint ocean scent in the air.
