ROT CH 47
by jj.ssasipscoffeeChapter 47: Eating Noodles!
Han Junzhou quickly showered in the modest operating room bathroom. When he was done, Bai Chengyu was already wearing his oversized coat, pacing outside the operating room. The moment he saw Han Junzhou, he ran over excitedly.
“All done? Can we go this time?” he asked eagerly. Just moments ago, he had been so understanding, telling him to take his time, but it was clear he had been impatiently waiting.
Han Junzhou looked at the young man who had initially been brash enough to want to barge into the consultation room. Now, he had tempered his impatience. After their date was unexpectedly canceled, not only did he refrain from throwing a tantrum, but he also brought a late-night snack and waited outside the operating room for hours without showing any irritation. His face was lit with joy at finally seeing his boyfriend.
In just a month or two, this kid had changed so much. Without realizing it, he had grown up a little more in such a short time.
Sigh.
Han Junzhou sighed softly, a mix of gratification and resignation: was he quietly growing older too?
The 16-year age gap between him and his young boyfriend really wasn’t easy to bridge.
Take right now, for example. Bai Chengyu, who had attended classes all day and waited outside the operating room late into the night, was still brimming with energy and smiling brightly at him. Meanwhile, Han Junzhou, who always insisted he wasn’t getting old, had been performing surgeries all day, standing on his feet for hours, and felt undeniably tired. He was sure he didn’t have the energy to accompany Bai Chengyu on some late-night adventure up a mountain, much less spar with him on a training field.
“Are we good to go?” Bai Chengyu asked, his cheerful expression dimming slightly as he noticed the sigh. Curious, he asked, “What’s wrong? Why did you sigh?”
Since Han Junzhou had come out of the operating room for the second time, he had been smiling at him without saying a word about leaving, and then he let out a quiet sigh. This had left Bai Chengyu uneasy, wondering if he had done something wrong. He furrowed his brows, thinking back—this time, he hadn’t barged into the operating room or argued with the nurses, right?
Han Junzhou shook his head. “No, I wasn’t sighing.”
He raised his hand, draping it over Bai Chengyu’s shoulder as they walked. “It was a sigh of amazement,” he explained, habitually leaning a significant part of his weight onto his young boyfriend.
“How did I manage to get such an amazing, handsome, and thoughtful boyfriend who even brings me a late-night snack after work?”
Bai Chengyu immediately brightened at Han Junzhou’s compliment, his previously furrowed brows relaxing as he puffed up with pride.
“Of course! Someone as amazing, handsome, and thoughtful as me? You won’t find another like me for miles around,” he boasted with a little shake of his shoulders.
As they walked through the deserted hospital late at night, Han Junzhou glanced around, prompting Bai Chengyu to do the same. Bai Chengyu couldn’t help but feel a tiny surge of sweet anticipation.
“It’s empty,” Han Junzhou remarked, stopping in his tracks and looking at Bai Chengyu. Bai Chengyu stood in front of him, curling his lips into a small smile and squinting slightly, clearly waiting for a kiss to land.
Holding back a chuckle, Han Junzhou said, “There’s no one around for miles, just you.”
“Huh?” Bai Chengyu froze for a moment before realizing that Han Junzhou wasn’t checking for privacy to kiss him—he was just teasing. Frustrated, he pushed Han Junzhou away, clutching the thermos tightly as he marched forward, his head down. Annoyed, he couldn’t help but replay the moment in his mind, wondering if he had been foolish enough to actually pucker his lips.
Han Junzhou’s cheerful laughter echoed from behind, making Bai Chengyu whirl around in exasperation. He swung the thermos he was holding, aiming to smack him. Before the thermos could land, Han Junzhou caught it effortlessly. In one fluid motion, he took the thermos with one hand and pressed Bai Chengyu against the wall with the other, kissing him thoroughly.
It wasn’t just a kiss—Han Junzhou rubbed against him, igniting a fire that had Bai Chengyu quickly pitching a tent in his pants.
The kiss lasted a good while before Han Junzhou finally released him. Flustered, Bai Chengyu adjusted his pants and glared at his own evident reaction, sneaking a glance at Han Junzhou’s calm and collected demeanor. With a huff, he plopped onto a nearby chair, too embarrassed and annoyed to look at his boyfriend’s smug expression.
Han Junzhou raised an eyebrow at him with a knowing smirk, but Bai Chengyu was in no mood to see his infuriating grin. Every time, Han Junzhou would tease him until he was burning with desire, only to laugh at him for being so hot-headed and impulsive.
Now, Bai Chengyu finally understood why Han Junzhou never got flustered. Hmph, it was just his way of showing off his superior self-control.
Bai Chengyu refused to admit he lacked restraint. However, recalling the last time Han Junzhou had mercilessly teased him, he didn’t dare to criticize him anymore, despite his frustration. Crossing his legs awkwardly, he sulked on the hospital chair, stewing in his irritation.
Han Junzhou, amused, watched Bai Chengyu pout in anger, the faint scent of roses lingering around him. Leisurely, he sat beside him, opened the thermos, and began drinking the porridge, waiting for his boyfriend to cool off.
The aroma of the porridge was mouthwatering, and Bai Chengyu couldn’t help but turn his head to watch Han Junzhou eat. Only then did he realize something—he hadn’t eaten dinner yet.
It wasn’t that he had intentionally skipped the meal to evoke sympathy or guilt from Han Junzhou. He had simply eaten too much at a year-end gathering with Wang Ziheng and the others earlier that day, leaving him not particularly hungry by dinnertime. When he went out to buy the porridge, he had been so focused on hurrying back to the hospital that he only remembered to get one serving. While waiting at the hospital, he had dozed off, and by the time he woke up, he had unknowingly passed the point of hunger.
Now, as the fragrance of the abalone porridge filled the air, his stomach growled loudly, suddenly and fiercely reminding him of his hunger.
Han Junzhou, having eaten quickly, finished the entire thermos of porridge just as Bai Chengyu’s stomach growled. He swallowed the last bite and looked over at Bai Chengyu with a smile.
“Hmm? Hungry again?” Han Junzhou teased, his eyes twinkling. “Just like a kid—growing fast and always hungry.”
“I’m not a kid!” Bai Chengyu snapped, unable to take the provocation. It was bad enough that Han Junzhou had so easily teased him into a fiery blush earlier, but now being called a kid was the final straw. His voice rose with indignation. “I didn’t even have dinner!”
“What? You didn’t eat?” Han Junzhou was startled. He hadn’t expected that the boyfriend he brought a late-night snack to would actually skip dinner. “Why didn’t you tell me earlier? I finished the porridge all at once.” Han Junzhou looked regretfully at the now-empty thermos.
“It’s fine. I ate too much at lunch and just skipped dinner,” Bai Chengyu chuckled sheepishly, trying to downplay how he’d foolishly forgotten to eat. “Let’s hurry home. I’m so tired.” He stood up, adjusted his pants, and glanced down at his now barely noticeable issue. Tugging at Han Junzhou’s sleeve, he let out a yawn, mumbling sleepily about heading home.
“Alright, let’s go home,” Han Junzhou said, standing as well. He carefully screwed the lid back onto the thermos and added, “I’ll cook some noodles for you at home.”
Mid-yawn, Bai Xiaoyu froze, his mouth wide open, staring at Han Junzhou in shock. “Huh?” Realizing what he’d just heard, he quickly shut his mouth, his gaze filled with accusation.
Han Junzhou had already taken a couple of steps forward before noticing Bai Xiaoyu wasn’t following. Turning back, he found him staring with an odd expression. “Hmm? What’s wrong?”
“You… below… for me to eat?” Bai Xiaoyu asked in disbelief, struggling to process how naturally indecent Han Junzhou had become.
“Yes, I’ll cook noodles—” Han Junzhou caught himself mid-sentence, hurriedly clarifying, “I’ll make noodles for you to eat. Hey, what are you even thinking…” He burst into laughter, utterly amused by Bai Xiaoyu’s flustered state. “First you want kisses, then you get hard, and now this? What’s going on in that head of yours tonight?”
Blushing furiously, Bai Chengyu felt a wave of embarrassment and anger as Han Junzhou’s booming laughter echoed. “Cook noodles, fine! But stop saying it like that!” He stomped past Han Junzhou, delivering a hard kick as he passed, his face burning red as he stormed out of the hospital.
That night, he did eat the noodles Han Junzhou made. The cooking wasn’t bad.
As for Han Junzhou… he ate Bai Chengyu’s “noodles” too. The taste wasn’t bad either.
After all, it was rose-flavored.
