Chapter Index

Guan Xihua still felt somewhat worried. Du Huan also wanted to follow, even though he had no ability, it was still good to be able to help when something happened.

Chi Qingzhou kindly refused again, and then carried the three ghost creatures out of the underground garage.

When he reached a place where no one was around, he turned around and shoved the three ghost creatures into the shadow.

The Wan Ying Temple was in the neighboring Hengming City, and it would take him some time to get there, so it was inconvenient to keep holding onto things.

The three ghost creatures were squeezed into the shadow, almost flattened into thin sheets.

They endured the intense pain, cautiously climbed up, and looked around at the strange space in front of them.

Having received some incense, they were more capable than ordinary ghosts and could tell that this place was between the realms of yin and yang.

But only fierce ghosts could create such a realm, so what was the being that had just trapped them? Was it really a human?

The three ghost creatures shook their heads, recalling Chi Qingzhou’s aura of ghost energy.

Impossible, this king could not possibly be human.

With his strength, he could easily take over the entire Wan Ying Temple. As long as they performed well, they could become his subordinates, and then they wouldn’t have to endure the restrictions imposed by those old cows!

They exchanged ambitious glances, and for a moment, they even felt a surge of fighting spirit.

A mocking laugh echoed from the darkness.

The three ghost creatures turned towards the sound and saw a glowing orb floating in mid-air, trembling as if it were mocking them.

They immediately showed fierce looks, agitated, wanting to pounce and tear the glowing orb apart.

    But then, they froze.

A tall, slender figure emerged from the deeper darkness, the embroidery of a Zhulong on his clothing fluttering with his movements.

His blood-red eyes were like they were coated with a thin layer of ice, and as his gaze fell on the three ghost creatures, their legs went weak, and they fell to the ground with a thud.

    The Ghost King!

This aura… was truly that of a Ghost King!

No, wait, he didn’t like being called “Ghost King.” He should be called the “World-destroying Ghost!”

The three ghost creatures lowered their bodies, their hands pressed tightly to their foreheads, trembling uncontrollably.

They wanted to say something, at least greetings or plead for mercy, but their throats didn’t obey, only producing muffled clicking sounds.

A sense of despair enveloped their hearts.

For a moment, they even wondered if the person who had just captured them had no intention of going to the Wan Ying Temple at all, and was just finding an excuse to deal with them.

The voice that had mocked them earlier now made a disgusted noise, like a sycophant, drifting over to the World-destroying Ghost and whispering in his ear.

“Mr. Xing, I heard everything they said! They accepted Ma Xiayang’s wish and want to kill the host!”

The ghost’s gaze swept over them, and the coldness in his eyes deepened.

The glowing orb gave a sneering laugh: “They’re quite bold, but they have no brains. What kind of person is the host? Do they really think they can do anything to him?”

“Even if they can’t harm the host, just having such thoughts is already treasonous!”

“Mr. Xing, what do you think…” The glowing orb swayed in the air, flatteringly adding, “Should I step in and teach them a lesson?”

The three ghosts trembled even harder, the blood stains on their bodies dimming significantly.

The World-destroying Ghost’s gaze remained cold, but his tone was relatively calm.

“Don’t rush. Qingzhou still has use for them.”

The orb spun around and gave a disappointed “oh.”

The three ghosts, having temporarily saved their lives, were ecstatic and kept bowing, praising the World-destroying Ghost for his great magnanimity.

The ghost stared at them for a moment before suddenly smiling.

    “System.”

The orb responded eagerly: “Yes! What do you need, Mr. Xing?”

The World-destroying Ghost said, “Qingzhou has absorbed quite a bit of power and developed a high resistance to drugs. But he’s never used incense before.”

The orb immediately understood: “You mean you want me to collect the incense from them? No problem! I’ll try it now!”

The three ghost creatures froze, suddenly lifting their heads, glaring at the orb in complete panic.

The orb quickly floated over to them, making clicking sounds.

“I advise you to behave and not resist. Who knows, maybe you’ll have a better outcome. Otherwise, when my host makes his move, you might end up scattered to the winds!”

The three ghosts wanted to run, but their limbs were weak, and they couldn’t even crawl, let alone escape.

They desperately wriggled on the ground, watching the orb spread a large net, both enraged and terrified.

The pain of forcibly extracting the incense power made them howl uncontrollably.

    What was this glowing orb?

Was it some new type of ghost?

Could it be that “Qingzhou” referred to the person who had captured them earlier?

The ghost creatures were filled with resentment and fear.

    Qingzhou, Qingzhou, Chi Qingzhou…

The person from earlier, was he one of Ma Xiayang’s targets?

This damned creature, not only had they offended such a terrifying entity, but why did it have to drag them down too?!

If they had known that Ma Xiayang’s wish involved this, they never would have agreed!

What was the reputation of the Wan Ying Temple worth? Getting involved with such a group of people—could they really expect a good outcome?

Tears of blood streamed from their eyes as they gritted their teeth, their souls seemingly being torn apart in agony, while their gaze was filled with extreme resentment.

Hengming City was about one hundred kilometers from Hexing City.

Chi Qingzhou didn’t want to waste time or energy, so he called Yi Shangxiao and asked him to find someone who knew the way to drive him over.

Yi Shangxiao didn’t know that Chi Qingzhou had lost three years of his memories. Understanding the situation, he had one of his cousins from his mother’s side, who had been following him, go to pick up Chi Qingzhou.

This cousin was calm and steady, taking over an hour to bring Chi Qingzhou to Hengming City without asking a single question.

When Chi Qingzhou got out of the car, he simply reminded him, “I’ll be waiting nearby. If you finish and don’t find me, just call me.”

Chi Qingzhou nodded, thanked him, and left quickly.

Yi Shangxiao’s cousin watched Chi Qingzhou disappear into the night before pulling out a cigarette from his pack, lighting it with a lighter.

The smoke slowly rose inside the car as he looked up at the bright moonlight, letting out a long sigh.

He still remembered how Chi Qingzhou had taken off the heads of those rat demons three years ago.

Back then, his father had died suddenly of a strange illness, and his younger cousin had just become a cultivator and wasn’t a match for the rat demons. Chi Qingzhou had agreed to his younger cousin’s request, personally coming to help them take revenge.

Since then, his family had been both grateful and in awe of Chi Qingzhou, hoping to assist him in any way and also wishing Chi Qingzhou would take revenge for their aunt.

    “The Yi family is finished.”

He exhaled a ring of smoke, his mouth twitching into a stiff smile, forming a hollow expression.

“But that’s not enough. My father’s life, my aunt’s life, my older cousin almost losing his life…”

“That old bastard Yi, willing to abandon anyone for money. One day, he’ll lose everything—his family, his wealth, and be reduced to the lowest of society.”

He turned his gaze back towards the direction Chi Qingzhou had gone. “Since this temple is connected to you, don’t blame Mr. Chi for not giving you face.”

Chi Qingzhou walked to the base of the mountain, glanced around to make sure no one was nearby, and then pulled the three ghosts out of the shadow.

The ghosts were drooping, looking as though they had undergone some kind of torture, their souls appearing unstable.

He examined them and asked in surprise, “Why did you suddenly change your appearance?”

Where did the incense power go?

The three ghosts, in a daze, looked at Chi Qingzhou with expressions that seemed hard to explain.

    Why change their appearance?

They would say it was a sudden inspiration. Would Chi Qingzhou believe it?

Chi Qingzhou wondered, “I believe it, why wouldn’t I?”

    The three ghosts: “…”

Chi Qingzhou blinked, thinking that the three ghosts were not very bright.

How could someone as kind as him doubt what others said?

    The ghosts, dazed, remained silent.

They no longer had the strength to argue with Chi Qingzhou.

Chi Qingzhou knocked on them and asked for the specific location of the Wan Ying Temple.

The three ghosts, who had originally seemed disillusioned, immediately became alert.

    “My Lord, this way.”

“My Lord, I’ll lead the way, please!”

Their eyes were filled with twisted joy and resentment as they eagerly pointed the way for Chi Qingzhou, wishing he would hurry to the Wan Ying Temple and teach their lazy fellow ghosts there a lesson.

They didn’t dare to resent Chi Qingzhou, whose strength they didn’t know, nor could they blame Xing Shuangzhan and the system, who had stripped them of their incense. Their anger naturally had to be directed elsewhere.

For example, the companions who had avoided a disaster by not going to Hexing City.

Or, for example, Ma Xiayang, who had made a wish that led them to provoke someone they shouldn’t have.

Though Ma Xiayang was already dead, it didn’t stop them from seeking revenge!

After all, they held his soul in their hands, so making him die again was no problem.

The three ghosts led Chi Qingzhou to the vicinity of the temple, eagerly asking, “My Lord, this is the place. Do you want us to charge in, or should we call them out to greet you?”

    Chi Qingzhou didn’t answer immediately.

He stood in the shadow of an old tree outside the temple, quietly observing the restless souls and ghosts within.

The temple wasn’t small, housing at least fifty ghosts.

From where Chi Qingzhou stood, he couldn’t see what the bone pagoda behind the temple looked like.

Countless ghosts were gathered in the main hall, laughing in shrill voices as they tore apart a vague soul.

Directly beneath that soul, the floor of the hall was stained with layers of dried blood, forming a heavy brownish “carpet,” with only a few places showing a hint of bright color.

Ma Xiayang’s corpse lay in the bloodstains, pale as though all his blood had been drained. His expression was twisted with pain, yet his eyes were peacefully shut.

His death was far from peaceful, but it strangely gave a sense of fulfillment, as if his pain at the moment of death was entirely a voluntary offering.

Chi Qingzhou’s gaze flickered slightly, and he said unhappily, “Your Wan Ying Temple, which supposedly fulfills all wishes, wouldn’t happen to be the type that can’t solve problems, right?”

Even if it’s not a human matter, at least basic professionalism should be maintained, right?

If there’s no professionalism, what’s the point of this temple even existing?

The three ghosts smiled awkwardly, not daring to respond.

The system popped its head out from Chi Qingzhou’s shadow and glanced at the temple, giving a sudden shudder.

“Host, this is the Wan Ying Temple? How do you plan to handle this?”

Are you going to just tear down this broken temple?

Chi Qingzhou frowned. “Didn’t I teach you to be kind before? How can you just tear down someone’s building like that?”

    Do you know that’s illegal?

    System: “…? Ah?”

    Chi Qingzhou stared at it.

The system quickly yielded, “Host, I was wrong, I wasn’t enlightened enough. I’ll be a kind and law-abiding system from now on.”

Chi Qingzhou nodded, then took out his phone and snapped a picture of the Wan Ying Temple.

The system hesitated for a moment but couldn’t hold back, asking, “So, how do you plan to handle this temple?”

Chi Qingzhou fiddled with his phone for a moment, then smiled contentedly.

He waved the phone at the system, saying with a grin, “Of course, I’m reporting it to the local Dao Association, and calling the police while I’m at it.”

He had just checked, and this temple wasn’t registered with the Dao Association, so it was an illegal building!
