Slap!

The crisp sound of a slap echoed sharply in the spacious room. A bright red handprint instantly appeared on Gu Jinlin’s pale face, swelling up painfully.

“You—you actually dared to bite me! Watch me kill you right now…”

Second Young Master Ji spoke through gritted teeth, grabbing Gu Jinlin by the collar and lifting him up, his expression fierce and murderous, like a beast ready to devour its prey.

Knock knock. There was a knock on the door, followed by a respectful voice from outside: “Second Young Master, the Eldest Young Master has returned and wishes to see you.”

Second Young Master Ji raised an eyebrow, clicked his tongue, and let go of Gu Jinlin’s collar. Gu Jinlin dropped back to the floor with a thud.

It was only then that Gu Jinlin realized why his legs felt so weak—he really had been shot with a tranquilizer dart meant for capturing prey. Now, the moment his butt hit the ground, the sting at the injection site flared up again.

Second Young Master Ji turned around, grabbed a robe from the bed, and casually put it on. His hand was still dripping blood, yet he showed no sign of panic. He calmly tied the robe’s belt, slipped on his shoes, and allowed the blood from his wound to stain the floor without a care.

He then opened the door and walked out. Just before the door closed, the voice from outside sounded again, “Second Young Master, your hand! You’re bleeding!”

Second Young Master Ji’s tone was nonchalant. “Just got bitten by a sharp-toothed little thing, that’s all. Call the doctor over. Where’s my brother now?”

The moment the door shut, Gu Jinlin spat a mouthful of bloody saliva onto the floor. Damn it, this slap—he’d make that bastard Ji pay back a hundredfold!

“System, unlock my hands and clear out any leftover tranquilizer from my body.”

【Understood, Host. Little Six will restore your body right away.】

After a while, Gu Jinlin finally regained full control of his limbs. The pain in his chest still lingered, but it was manageable. The soreness under his clothes, however, was far worse. When he stood up, he noticed a set of clean, pale yellow silk pajamas lying near the hand of the unconscious person on the bed.

He glanced at his own tattered clothes, then at the silk pajamas. Without hesitation, he stripped off his ruined outfit and slipped into the luxurious pajamas, before padding barefoot toward the door. Cracking it open slightly, he slipped out quietly.

The hallway was dimly lit with warm yellow lights. Soft, high-quality wool carpeting cushioned his footsteps. Judging by the massive crystal chandelier hanging over the railing and the lavish decor and wall art, Gu Jinlin quickly concluded he was in some kind of luxury mansion.

Just as he was contemplating which direction to escape, voices drifted over from the far end of the hallway. Gu Jinlin followed the sound, stopping at a corner to eavesdrop through a half-open door.

“I want to go! Brother, let me go!” That was Second Young Master Ji’s voice.

“Watch him. Let him stay in my study for the night.” A deep, commanding voice replied, brimming with authority.

    “Yes, Eldest Young Master.”

Suddenly, all sounds ceased. Gu Jinlin, crouching at the corner, decided to turn and leave—but just then, the sharp sound of glass shattering came from behind him, leaving him caught between retreat and discovery.

While he was still hesitating, a tall figure blocked the soft light spilling into the corner. Gu Jinlin instinctively looked up—and saw a man in military uniform gazing down at him from above.

The man wore polished black combat boots, though a few spots of mud splattered the toes. His loose trouser legs were tucked into the boots, showcasing his long, well-proportioned legs. A silver eagle belt buckle gleamed under the light. The white shirt beneath the dark uniform clung to his broad chest, its sleeves rolled up to reveal muscular forearms, lightly tanned.

A golden medal of honor was pinned proudly above his chest pocket. Right now, his uniform jacket hung from his hand, its sleeves trailing on the floor. The officer’s cap, which should have been on his head, was tucked under his arm instead.

His neat black hair was slightly disheveled, likely from removing his cap. Beneath his smooth, fair forehead were two sharply furrowed brows. His deep brown eyes reflected Gu Jinlin’s pale yellow silk pajamas. A straight nose, thin lips, and a sharp jawline connected to a pale yet strong neck. The man’s Adam’s apple bobbed slightly as he spoke, his voice low and authoritative.

“So, you’re the sharp-toothed little wildcat who bit Yanzhi?”

Gu Jinlin snapped out of his daze at the sound, raising a brow. Who just weaned off milk? You just weaned off milk! Your whole family just weaned off milk! Damn it…

He scrunched up his nose and glared fiercely at the military man in front of him, snorting coldly. “That’s right! And if you dare come any closer, I’ll bite your ear off next!”

Seeing the little wildcat in front of him all bristled up and defensive, Ji Lichen’s lips curved into a slight smile, a glint of interest flashing through his deep eyes.

A soldier’s instinct—the more stubborn and untamed the prey, the stronger the desire to tame it. Clearly, Gu Jinlin had just successfully awakened Ji Lichen’s predatory instincts.

Without a word, Ji Lichen removed the black leather glove from his hand. In the next second, to Gu Jinlin’s utter shock, Ji Lichen shoved the glove straight into his mouth—forcing him to stretch his jaws wide, only able to make muffled “mmph mmph” noises.

Ji Lichen gave a low chuckle. Excellent. It seemed this wildcat would be the perfect entertainment to pass the time during his pre-deployment leave.

“From now on, you belong to me—Ji Lichen. I’ll give you a name… Let’s call you Ji Yichen. As long as you behave, I’ll ensure you live a life free of worries…”
