Chapter Index

Yan Yuzhou quickly swapped out the towel wrapped around him for his pajamas while Shen Ci was in the bathroom freshening up. Hearing the sound of running water from the bathroom, it was clear Shen Ci hadn’t finished yet. Yan Yuzhou glanced at himself in the full-length mirror, relieved to see himself fully covered in pajamas from head to toe.

Although he knew that cold-hearted guy definitely didn’t think much of him—perhaps even hated sharing the same bed—he still felt uncomfortable at the thought of them sleeping together tonight. It was as if he was somehow getting the short end of the stick.

But after all, both he and Shen Ci were men…

Finally, ten minutes later, the bathroom door was pulled open from the inside. A wave of steam wafted out as Yan Yuzhou instinctively looked up at the sound. Shen Ci emerged, bare-chested, wearing only a pair of boxers. He held a towel in one hand, drying his hair as he walked out.

Yan Yuzhou could feel his face heating up at a noticeable speed.

“Y-you, can’t you put some clothes on?” Yan Yuzhou subconsciously scooted to the side, as if trying to distance himself from Shen Ci.

Shen Ci, however, showed no awareness that he was being too presumptuous in someone else’s room. Instead, he glanced at Yan Yuzhou’s fully covered pajamas, raising an eyebrow. “Wearing that much to bed, aren’t you hot?”

“Not hot!” Yan Yuzhou retorted defensively, his face slightly flushed as he averted his gaze and pointed towards the door. “You should go to your room and get some sleepwear. The way you are now, it’s too indecent.”

As soon as he finished speaking, Shen Ci, who wasn’t far from him, let out a chuckle, his tone full of amusement. “If I could get into my own room to grab my sleepwear, I wouldn’t need to sleep here at all. Did you forget what a mess your lemon-scented little brother made of my room?”

Yan Yuzhou realized he had a point. With Shen Ci’s level of cleanliness, he certainly wouldn’t want to step foot in his room tonight. But then again, if he was going to sleep in his bed, wouldn’t Shen Ci be disgusted?

After all, his bedsheets hadn’t been changed in a week.

Watching Shen Ci continue to towel dry his hair, Yan Yuzhou felt a bit awkward and spoke up, “Mr. Shen, how about I change the sheets before you get in?”

As he said this, he moved towards the wardrobe, intending to take out a clean set.

“No need.” Shen Ci’s voice suddenly rang out from behind him, accompanied by the sound of a wardrobe door being slammed shut.

Yan Yuzhou turned around, bumping into Shen Ci’s body. His eyes fell on Shen Ci’s damp hair, which was still dripping water onto the back of his neck and down to the gland area, before continuing to trickle down.

    Something inside him quivered slightly.

“Alright, then.” Seeing that Shen Ci didn’t mind, Yan Yuzhou didn’t insist further. Flustered, he quickly turned and walked to the bed.

Lifting a corner of the blanket, Yan Yuzhou slipped inside, leaving plenty of space on the other side for Shen Ci.

Shen Ci looked at Yan Yuzhou’s awkwardly adorable behavior, and a mischievous impulse arose within him. He walked over slowly, each step seemingly aiming to stir the calm surface of Yan Yuzhou’s heart.

He stopped at the edge of the bed, his dark eyes, like the ocean at night, rippling gently.

Yan Yuzhou swallowed nervously, his throat moving as he anxiously scooted further inside the bed, cautiously asking, “Mr. Shen, could you… sleep on the outside?”

Shen Ci, restraining the urge within him, replied with a soft “Mm” and then reached out to turn off the bedside lamp with a click. The entire room was plunged into darkness, with only the dim moonlight barely outlining Shen Ci’s silhouette at the edge of the bed.

As Shen Ci lifted the blanket and got into bed, Yan Yuzhou’s heart rate soared, nearly jumping out of his chest.

He felt the bed sink beside him, and a fresh scent of cold snow mixed with pine wood wafted over.

Yan Yuzhou instinctively held his breath, not daring to move.

The room was silent for a long while. Shen Ci, once lying down, didn’t move again, as if he had fallen asleep the moment his head hit the pillow. Yan Yuzhou, observing quietly, barely opened his eyes and turned his head slightly.

In the moonlight, Shen Ci’s face was enviably handsome, with chiseled features that made one’s heart race.

Yan Yuzhou thought to himself that if his best friend Lin Xiaoguo saw him, she would definitely throw herself at him. Actually, even his own heart was pounding…

Yan Yuzhou, stop it. What are you thinking? Shen Ci is a man, and so are you. Although in this world you’re an omega, and your gender is different from his, this is just a book. Someday, you might find a way to return to reality.

He was only living in the place of the original Yan Yuzhou in this book for a while. He just needed to ensure his safety; everything else didn’t matter.

“You’re sneaking a look at me.”

Shen Ci had unknowingly opened his eyes and caught Yan Yuzhou’s wide-eyed stare. In the moonlight, he seemed to read every thought in those eyes.

Yan Yuzhou quickly snapped out of it, glaring at Shen Ci fiercely before turning over in a huff. He tried to cover up by saying, “Who’s sneaking a look at you? I just went to bed too early and wasn’t sleepy yet, so I looked around.”

Then he muttered under his breath, “Don’t flatter yourself, I don’t have any improper thoughts about you.”

Shen Ci chuckled, his laughter low and slightly raspy, making it particularly seductive in the quiet night. If one listened carefully, they could hear a distinct note of happiness in his laughter.

“Mr. Shen,” Yan Yuzhou suddenly remembered something and felt he needed to apologize to Shen Ci seriously about Yan Yuhe, “I’m sorry about Xiao He.”

There was a brief silence, during which Yan Yuzhou wondered if Shen Ci was still angry about it. Then he heard Shen Ci let out a barely audible sigh and calmly say, “You’re too soft-hearted. It’s easy for people to take advantage of that.”

Yan Yuzhou had nothing to say in response because Shen Ci was right. Back in his original world, Lin Xiaoguo had told him more than once that he was too soft, which often led to him getting the short end of the stick and suffering in silence.

“He is who he is, and you are who you are,” Shen Ci continued. “I don’t have the same patience as you, so I won’t tolerate him. But I won’t hold anything against you because of how I feel about him. You can be assured of that.”

“Oh,” Yan Yuzhou obediently responded, mulling over Shen Ci’s words. It seemed like Shen Ci was standing up for him.

Realizing this made him feel inexplicably happy, a warm feeling spreading in his chest.

Perhaps Mr. Shen was someone who was cold on the outside but gentle on the inside.

Gradually, drowsiness began to take over.

“Mr. Shen, thank you. Actually, you’re a good person.”

Yan Yuzhou’s voice grew quieter, sounding like a lazy cat purring into Shen Ci’s ears.

In the darkness, the corners of Shen Ci’s mouth lifted slightly, though with a hint of helplessness. Did he just get a good person card from this omega?

But he really didn’t want to be a good person… In fact, with that faint scent of black tea lingering in his nose, he didn’t even want to be human anymore.
