Chapter Index

Although their house was a 500-square-meter duplex villa with numerous bedrooms, Shen Ci deliberately chose to hide in Yan Yuzhou’s bedroom.

Yan Yuzhou glanced at the tightly shut door that Shen Ci had just slammed shut and then at Shen Ci’s room, which had been turned upside down by his younger brother, making it an unbearable mess. He felt a twinge of guilt and frustration. He knew all too well how obsessive-compulsive and cleanliness-obsessed Shen Ci usually was.

    But now…

The corners of Yan Yuzhou’s mouth twitched as he walked in. The bed was in disarray, shirts were scattered all over the floor, and the bathroom was littered with overturned toiletries and bath products. He could almost imagine that if he didn’t hurry up and clean this place, Shen Ci would probably freeze him to death with his mountain-chilled-snow pheromones.

Without saying much, he started cleaning up with Sister Song and a few other servants.

They replaced all the bed linens, meticulously cleaned the blankets in the bedroom, and thoroughly disinfected the bathroom. The entire process took two hours.

Smelling the air, now devoid of any trace of lemon pheromones, Yan Yuzhou felt a little relieved. He stretched his stiff and sore muscles, pushed open the door to his room, and walked in.

    Ah…

The crisp scent of mountain snow… it smelled so good…

Yan Yuzhou squinted and took a deep breath, noticing that Shen Ci was sitting on the sofa in his room, frowning and fiddling with his phone. He gave Shen Ci a fawning smile.

“Mr. Shen, your bedroom has been cleaned.”

Yan Yuzhou trotted over to Shen Ci, putting on a respectful and proper smile, waiting for Shen Ci to graciously leave his room and return to his own.

However, Shen Ci merely lifted his eyelids and gave a light “hmm” without any further response. Yan Yuzhou scratched his head awkwardly, thinking that maybe he should just leave. As he turned to take a couple of steps, he suddenly heard Shen Ci’s voice behind him, filled with evident disdain.

“You, go to the bathroom and wash off that lemon scent on you.”

Yan Yuzhou whipped around, bewildered. Realizing Shen Ci was talking about the scent on him, he quickly raised his sleeve to sniff, then wrinkled his nose in confusion. “Do I have a scent?”

Shen Ci shot him a displeased look, his face darkening as he spat out, “It smells awful.”

Yan Yuzhou pouted, huffed lightly, and muttered to himself, feeling wronged, “The lemon scent on me is from cleaning your bedroom. And yet, you hide away and then have the nerve to complain. If you don’t like it, why don’t you go back to your own room now?”

To his surprise, Shen Ci raised an eyebrow, unreasonable as ever. “The room was just cleaned, and the disinfectant smell is too strong. It’s not suitable for anyone to stay in. Tonight, I’m sleeping here.”

“What?!” Yan Yuzhou was so shocked that his voice involuntarily rose several octaves, almost making him jump on the spot. Trembling with disbelief, he stammered, “Sleep here? You… must be joking, right?”

Shen Ci’s lips curved slightly into a rare smile, but no matter how Yan Yuzhou looked at it, that smile seemed full of malice.

Then, he saw Shen Ci nod affirmatively and shamelessly add, “Not only will I sleep here, but I also want to use your bathroom to shower.”

Pointing towards the bathroom, Shen Ci continued, “So, are you sure you don’t want to go wash up now? If you don’t, I’m going in. And when that happens, don’t blame me if the bathroom is filled with my pheromones.”

The thought of it made Yan Yuzhou’s skin crawl, and he jumped up. “No, no, I’ll go first. I won’t let you taint my bathroom! Hmph.”

With that, he dashed into the bathroom as if afraid Shen Ci might beat him to it.

Watching the back of the person he had just teased into a frenzy, Shen Ci’s lips curled into a satisfied smile.

Later, when he went in to shower, there would undoubtedly be the scent of black tea lingering inside.

    Pleasant and satisfying.

When Yan Yuzhou came out of the bathroom, he had wrapped himself tightly from head to toe in a bath towel.

Shen Ci found his cautious demeanor amusing and gave him a mischievous once-over, making Yan Yuzhou’s face gradually heat up.

Feeling uneasy, Yan Yuzhou tugged the bath towel even tighter, rolled his eyes, and stammered in a feigned stern voice, “What… what are you looking at? Haven’t you heard of ‘see no evil’?”

Shen Ci chuckled softly, his expression tinged with a hint of amusement and mischief. Watching the flustered little figure scoot as far away from him as possible, he felt a strange tickling sensation in his heart, as if a cat’s paw had lightly scratched it.

Suddenly, Sister Song’s voice came from outside the door—it turned out she was bringing their dinner after the cleaning.

Yan Yuzhou went to the door and opened it. Sister Song came in with a tray, placed the two servings of dinner on the small table in the bedroom, bowed, and left.

Perhaps it was the physical exertion from cleaning that had depleted his energy because the moment the aroma of dinner wafted into his nose, Yan Yuzhou felt a sudden surge of hunger.

The earlier awkwardness was quickly forgotten. He eagerly sat down at the table and waved enthusiastically at Shen Ci, who was still seated on the sofa. “Mr. Shen, come eat. Sister Song made a lot of delicious food today.”

Seeing Yan Yuzhou’s beaming little face, Shen Ci’s heart softened slightly. Almost instinctively, he stood up from the sofa, walked to the table, and sat down. Watching as Yan Yuzhou personally placed his set of bowl and chopsticks in front of him, smiling all the while, Shen Ci felt a warmth in his heart.

Normally, Shen Ci had a cleanliness obsession, including not letting others touch his utensils. But now, as he looked at the bowl and chopsticks that Yan Yuzhou handed to him, he didn’t feel the slightest bit of repulsion. Instead, he felt a sense of warmth and comfort.

His lips curled up ever so slightly as he picked up the chopsticks and took a small bite of the dish in front of him. Watching the cheerful little figure across from him eat with gusto, Shen Ci’s appetite, which hadn’t been much to begin with, suddenly started to grow.

This was the first time he had eaten with Shen Ci at such close quarters. Usually, the dining table in the restaurant was nearly two meters long, with them each sitting on opposite ends. The elegant and distant Shen Ci always gave him an impression of nobility that could only be admired from afar.

Unexpectedly, seeing him up close, he was still elegant, but his features seemed softer. Even the space between his brows seemed to have taken on a warm hue, as if touched by the evening sun, exuding a gentle warmth.

Yan Yuzhou subtly sniffed the air, sensing that Shen Ci’s pheromones had undergone a slight change, just like his own temperament.

It was like mountain snow, resting on pine branches, mingled together, giving off an intriguing hint of pine.

Amid the coldness, there was a trace of warmth.

So, Shen Ci could be a gentle person after all? What kind of person could make him remove his cold mask and soften his heart?

As he tilted his head, lost in thought, a soft chuckle suddenly reached his ears.

“What are you thinking about?” Shen Ci’s voice brought Yan Yuzhou’s mind back to reality.

Meeting that inquisitive gaze, Yan Yuzhou’s heart skipped a beat, as if his secret had been exposed.

    “Nothing.”

He quickly lowered his head, burying his face in his bowl, and busied himself with eating to hide his inappropriate thoughts.

Shen Ci found his evasiveness amusing and subtly curved his lips.

In a spot where Yan Yuzhou couldn’t see, Shen Ci noticed that in his absent-mindedness, the bath towel had slipped slightly, revealing a delicate collarbone.

Near the right collarbone, there was a tiny mole, the size of a sesame seed.

    Beautiful, and tempting to kiss.
