MWMM Chapter 77: I Can No Longer Protect Myself
by justmistyPerhaps sensing his unease, the man turned his head with a grin, his eyes filled with teasing and amusement.
“Little beauty, bet you didn’t expect it to be me, huh?”
Chang Fa had already driven the car out of the campus, heading toward a secluded area on the way to the suburbs. Normally, not to mention cars, you would rarely even see a person around here.
Yan Yuzhou immediately realized he had fallen into this man’s trap. A wave of danger surged from the soles of his feet, rushing through his entire body in an instant, making him shiver from the cold.
Almost reflexively, he thought about jumping out of the car. His hand shot toward the door handle, pulling hard, but before he could react, he heard a click
—the door had been locked.
“Trying to run?” Chang Fa let out a sinister laugh, his voice dripping with malice. “Little beauty, the whole area around here is filled with my people. You won’t get away. Besides,” he added, “even if the doors weren’t locked, do you really think you have the strength to run?”
A chill swept through Yan Yuzhou’s heart at his words. He could instantly feel it—his body was indeed growing weak, the dependency on the lingering scent of smoke making his limbs go soft, as if all his strength was being drained away.
His eyes flushed red with anger as he glared at the man in the driver’s seat, warning, “What are you trying to do? I’m Shen Ci’s lover!”
“Shen Ci?” Chang Fa sneered, his tone full of hatred and contempt. “Just because he holds a bigger share and has more say, you think I’m scared of him? So what if you’re his omega? In the end, you feel nothing for him. On the contrary, you’re craving my pheromones like your life depends on it.”
As he spoke, Chang Fa reclined the driver’s seat, swung over the front, and landed heavily on the back seat beside Yan Yuzhou, his face twisted in a cruel grin. Yan Yuzhou instinctively backed up, his mind growing increasingly muddled, though his senses were hypersensitive. The dense tobacco-scented pheromones pressed in from all sides, enveloping him completely.
“Shen Ci hasn’t been home in a long time, has he?” Chang Fa suddenly asked. Sensing a fleeting moment of clarity in Yan Yuzhou’s gaze at the mention of Shen Ci, he pressed on smugly, “You repel him so much—any alpha would be disgusted by you. And besides, Ran Youyou’s pheromones are like opium. If she sets her mind to it, there’s no one she can’t drag into bed. As for you… it’s about time I enjoyed you myself.”
Yan Yuzhou listened to Chang Fa’s words, a raging storm surging inside him. He gritted his teeth, heart full of hatred and despair.
“All of this… was orchestrated by you?”
Chang Fa suddenly burst into gleeful laughter, his belly quivering with the force of it, then nodded like a phantom, his expression twisted.
“That’s right. Brilliant, isn’t it? Completely unexpected? You must be dying to know how I pulled it off, right?”
Yan Yuzhou bit his lip hard, forcing himself to endure the cravings overtaking his body, refusing to speak.
Seeing the way his brows furrowed uncontrollably from the strain, and how his lip—pale from being bitten—trembled, Chang Fa’s malicious glee only grew. Releasing an even thicker cloud of tobacco-scented pheromones into the car, he sneered and continued,
“It’s simple. Remember when Ran Youyou went to your school to apologize to you? That time, your palm got scratched by the diamond on her ring, didn’t it? Hahaha. That diamond was coated with something—something that would make you addicted to me.”
The explanation caused Yan Yuzhou’s mind to clear momentarily, only for the pit of his heart to sink deeper into despair.
No wonder…
No wonder ever since that incident, he had gradually lost all feeling toward Shen Ci—worse even, he had started to instinctively reject Shen Ci’s touch.
It was all this bastard’s doing.
“You fucking bastard!” Yan Yuzhou snarled lowly, his eyes reddened, struggling against the growing cravings in his body. He swung his arm at the approaching Chang Fa—but before he could even land a hit, his strength gave out. Instead, Chang Fa easily caught him, forcefully pinning his wrist against the car window.
“I heard your compatibility with Shen Ci is one hundred percent,” Chang Fa sneered wickedly, leaning in closer. “I’m curious… when I fuck you later, will it feel even better than when he did?”
“Oh, and by the way,” he added, grinning even wider, “the whole thing will be recorded by a camera outside. If you behave, I’ll keep it for my private collection. If you don’t… well, I’ll just have to send it to Shen Ci. Let him enjoy the show too.”
With that, Chang Fa leered at him and closed the distance.
Yan Yuzhou weakly struggled, but his body was completely dominated by Chang Fa’s pheromones, utterly powerless to resist. Tears began to well up uncontrollably in his eyes, spilling over as his helplessness mounted.
At the very moment Chang Fa’s mouth closed in, Yan Yuzhou shut his eyes, his mind going completely blank. Instinctively, he cried out the name that brought him both heartbreak and deep love.
“Shen Ci!!!”
His voice was shrill, filled with utter despair.
I’m sorry… I can no longer protect myself.
I’m going to be tainted.
Maybe… this time, it’s really over between us.
Summoning the last remnants of his strength and will, Yan Yuzhou hurled himself against the car door—clinging desperately to the final shred of loyalty he had vowed to Shen Ci, and the overwhelming, drowning longing within his heart.
Then—with a loud bang—
His head crashed into the door, but instead of the expected sharp pain, it felt as if he had fallen into a strong, protective embrace. His head was gently supported, and through tear-blurred eyes, he saw a dazzling shaft of light pierce the darkness.
In his ears, a long-missed voice roared, domineering and furious:
“Chang Fa, you dare touch my omega? You’re courting death!”
Relief flooded Yan Yuzhou’s heart.
He used the last trace of consciousness to offer a small, peaceful smile—then completely collapsed into the darkness.
In that vast darkness, Yan Yuzhou felt himself continuously cradled in a warm embrace. Despite the bumps and jostles along the way, he never left those arms. It seemed like he was carried into a vehicle, faint echoes of an ambulance siren reaching his ears—but throughout it all, he remained nestled in the protective hold, never once let go.
Was it Shen Ci who had been holding him all along?
But Shen Ci… wasn’t he the one who didn’t even want to touch me anymore?
Suddenly, he felt someone gently wiping away the tears from the corners of his eyes with the pad of their thumb. Then, something soft brushed against his lips—a tender kiss.
Yan Yuzhou’s half-dead heart flickered back to life. Even though memories of Shen Ci’s recent coldness still haunted him, his heart shamelessly hoped that the one who kissed him was Shen Ci.
Yet in his dazed half-consciousness, he remembered what Chang Fa had said—how he no longer reacted to Shen Ci’s pheromones, and instead, craved that bastard’s scent.
At that thought, the tears Shen Ci had just wiped away burst forth anew, streaming down uncontrollably.
Yan Yuzhou felt the person holding him sigh heavily, a sound of deep sorrow. Then, a voice—low and tinged with helplessness—whispered beside his ear:
“Zhouzhou… is just holding you like this while you sleep already too much for you to bear?”
“Maybe… it’s better if I stay away from you after all.”
After speaking, Yan Yuzhou felt a kiss fall onto his forehead. Shen Ci’s lips lingered there for a long, long time, full of solemn tenderness and aching attachment.
But when those lips finally pulled away, panic gripped Yan Yuzhou’s heart. Subconsciously, he began to struggle and flail, desperate to break free from the darkness—to tell Shen Ci clearly that he didn’t want him to pull away.
The more he struggled, the harder the tears fell.
Shen Ci looked down at the young man in his arms, whose expression, even in unconsciousness, was twisted in pain and rejection because of his presence. Shen Ci’s heart was filled with guilt and sorrow.
He remained silent for a long while.
Finally, he made a decision, letting out a self-mocking laugh. Turning to the person beside him, he said quietly:
“Liang Xin, help me hold him for a while.”
Hearing these words even in his faint state, Yan Yuzhou’s heart grew even more anxious.
Like falling into a bottomless abyss, he fully succumbed to unconsciousness.
T/N: At least he didn’t get tainted… This is too heartbreaking
